Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersIf you’re looking at the GameSir X2 Pro, you’ve probably done some research on mobile gaming controllers and found a lot of people have recommend this one in particular. It’s got better triggers than the GameSir X2, has a direct Type-C connection instead of Bluetooth, and overall just has a really nice look to it when flush with a phone like my Samsung S20 FE. There’s a lot to like with the controller, and after having testing it for several months now, with modern mobile games (Diablo Immortal, mainly), game streaming via Steam Link, and classic platformers/RPGs, I have to say that I’m pretty impressed with it as a whole. Gone of the days of clipping my phone to an Xbox One controller or, heaven forbid, using touchscreen controls for my favorite games. I haven’t experienced any hardware issues or problems with it as of yet, with that aforementioned Type-C connection doing a lot to diminish any noticeable input lag/delay. The build quality is solid and the buttons feel really nice. I’ve yet to find a use for the back buttons or the GameSir app, but it’s always nice to have options for button mapping. There’s a lot to like with this device.

But all of that said, nothing’s perfect. And when you’re charging (what I consider to be) a premium price, I’m going to be a little more picky. The few issues I have with the X2 Pro aren’t deal-breakers for me personally, but should definitely be noted before you add it to your cart.

Starting off with a relatively small nitpick, the controller can’t be used when your phone is in a case. Or, at least it can’t with my phone case, but mine is a pretty slim one. It is a little annoying to have to pop your phone in and out of a case all the time, but I knew that would be the case before purchasing. If you like living on the edge and don’t use a phone case, then you’ll be fine.

This next issue is more a personal gripe, so I’ll set the scene. I was playing Diablo for a few hours and noticed that my battery was low. “No problem,” I thought, “I’ll just use the pass-through charging port.” But when I plugged it in while warping to an area, the controller disconnected for a good 5-10 seconds before reconnecting to the game. This was the first time I had plugged it in and I had no clue that happened, so before I realized what was happening, I was getting attacked by enemies and frantically trying to figure out why my controller stopped working. Sure enough, whenever you plug in the controller, it turns off and back on. Not a huge problem in the grand scheme of things, but maybe don’t plug it in mid-match.

Lastly, and most importantly, the ergonomics of the device aren’t the best. Don’t get me wrong, they’re fine. I’ve used this controller for hours without any issue or cramps. But I couldn’t help but miss the handles on my Xbox controller when using the X2 Pro. Something more along the lines of the Backbone One’s shape, where your hands could wrap around the bottom, would do wonders for this controller and easily bump it into 5 star territory.

I will admit that I have very little experience with phone controllers, with the GameSir X2 Pro being my first and only experience with one. I can only report my own personal experience with it, and I have to say that I’m really happy with my purchase. There are a lot of phone gaming controllers on Amazon these days and the X2 Pro is highly rated for a reason. So while it may miss in some regards, it’s still a solid contender if you’re looking for some mobile gaming on the go.

I have received this Gamesir mobile controller for Android phones to review on behalf of Amazon. It arrived promptly and well packaged.
I will say that when I ordered this, I was very wary of the cost. Its not cheap, but I like gaming and hate using touch screen controls, as I find them cumbersome. So initially I used this with my S21 ultra, but then later with a S23 ultra. It fits nicely inside of the controller, by pulling it apart on a spring. The controller connected easily with my phone and once on a game, I found this to be an excellent controller. It is very well made and has power pass through as well. Very very good.

The controller is well built and feels durable. Not a fan of the main buttons as feel a little mushy to me. Triggers and shoulder buttons are fine. Analogue sticks are fine and do the job well if a little stubby.

The biggest thing for me is I have to take my phone case off to use it which is inconvenient. Would be good if an adjustable USB C connector was included which could connect to the main connector if it is slightly too short.

Okay so just to set the scene – I bought a Razer Kishi on sale during Black Friday for $67AUD after I just upgraded my phone to a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Kishi does not fit my phone properly – I had to take the rubber bumper pads out that are designed to hold the phone safely, and without them the phone feels kinda wobbly in the controller.

By comparison, this Gamesir blows the Kishi out of the park. It has more sturdy construction, some prime quality triggers, buttons, and analogue sticks, and most importantly holds my phone safely and comfortably. I’ve yet to have any long periods of gaming with it, but merely on first impressions it just destroys the Kishi in build quality. YES, it was almost double the price of the discounted Kishi, but as someone with really picky tastes when it comes to controllers, I am more than happy to have paid the extra for the Gamesir.

I was initially a little dubious because I had only seend Gamesir selling third party knock-off Nintendo Switch accessories, so boo on me for judging a brand before actually trying it out. If I have any issues pop up in the next month or so, I’ll edit my review, but I am looking forward to spending hours on the couch grinding away in FFXIV while I watch TV with my partner.

    – La ergonomia, que aun sin ser mala ( mas bien est hecho asi pensando en la portabilidad y hacerlo en un tamao mas reducido) podria mejorarse. Para alguien con las mando grandes como es mi caso puede ser un poco incomodo.
    – La distancia del stick derecho con los botones ABXY, esta demasiado cerca y como he dicho anteriormente, con las manos grandes puede llegar a ser incomodo.
    – El precio, algo excesivo, aunque como dije al principio de la resea, es el mejor mando que he probado de este tipo, de bastante calidad, comparando precios con otros modelos esta dentro de la media de precio. (Si lo que quieres es comprar algo que no sea chinoso y plasticoso claro… EJEM EJEM IPEGA….)

    En conclusion;

I don’t often get the chance to use our Xbox but this device let’s me take the Xbox with me.

In practice, it’s a games controller that has been very cleverly designed to basically turn your mobile into something like a PlayStation Portable (PSP), but so much better, because it’s an Xbox.

This device has been officially licensed by Xbox, and has a definite quality feel that you would expect from an Xbox licenced product. With some high quality switches, knobs and buttons, you get the full gaming experience, sadly without the vibration feedback.

To start, you install the GameSir app on your phone. Then when you connect your phone to the device, and run the software, it all works smoothly. Running their app let’s you remap the XYAB buttons, to suit your gameplay. The letters can be pinged off the controller and repositioned when doing this. They sit well, magnetically attached over each button and with the small notch on each cap, they will only sit up the right way. Thumbpad caps are also included to make the controller as comfortable as possible for you.

The phone connects via a USB C connector and this means no lag between controller movement and gameplay. There’s nothing worse than shooting your enemy, to see them walk off, before the bullet hits them.

On the front of the device you get the usual array of buttons, exactly as an Xbox controller. You get bumpers and triggers too, but you will also find two programmable buttons on the rear of the controller. One additional button on the front of the controller is for screen capture. If you want to snapshot a part of the game, simply tap this button and there you have it, your screen is captured and saved to your gallery. Another nice feature is the pass through USB C connector, that enables you to keep your phone on charge, while you play.

I have an Xbox Game Pass, so installed the Xbox app for my phone. Running this enables me to either download games, play online, or stream through the cloud. Cloud play is actually very good – see video demo.

    So, the pros:
    – excellent feel on the controller
    – customisable buttons
    – responsive device
    – still able to charge the mobile while using the device, via its pass through connector
    – optional thumbpad covers
    – screen capture button

    The cons:
    – right thumbpad, although conforming to the same layout as the Xbox controller, it seems to be positioned too low for comfort, for me anyway
    – no vibration feedback
    – no built in speakers, so sound comes from phone speaker
    – price seems higher than I would expect to pay. Currently 79.99 with 15% off taking it down to 67.99. Still a little costly, I think.

All the advice said and weighed up, if priced a little more reasonably, this would be a cracking buy, but even at its current price, it will bring you joy.

    Xbox gaming on the move

My kids love gaming and with a portable game console you can play wherever you want to.

It’s made of very good quality and comes in a sturdy box.

We are sometimes going for 12 hours in the car and entertaining the kids is crucial to make the time getting by as quick as possible.

This game console holder is great for it. We can highly recommend i

This Android phone controller arrives in very nice looking packaging that would be more than suitable should you be wishing to give it as a gift. Inside the box is the controller itself, a protective case, 4 x alternative thumbstick caps, 2 x stickers, a code for a month’s subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (new subscribers only), and an instruction manual.

The controller feels well made and has a good finish throughout. Without any phone in it, it measures 18.2mm wide by 8.3cm deep and is 3.7mm thick (inc. thumbsticks).

I won’t go into too many of the details about the spec, because the description on this page is thorough and accurate. I will just say that the ABXY buttons were easy to remove and switch between the Xbox and Switch layout. The thumbstick caps were also easy to replace, with two different pair as well as the ones already installed to choose from.

The software installed without issue and works well. As well as allowing you to update the firmware, test the controls, and remap the ABXY buttons, the software also has libraries to help you discover games on various platforms (Game Pass, Stadia, GeForce Now, etc.).

You can map the two rear buttons to replicate any of the existing control buttons (e.g. set one to replicate button “x” and one to replicate the “menu” button), as well as calibrate the controller, all without the need for the software.

The protective case is very nice. It has straps to keep the controller in place in the bottom half of the case, and a mesh pocket in the top half that’s big enough to store earphones/plugs, a charging cable, or even certain sized power banks. The only negative with the case is that there is no wrist strap or handle, or even an anchor point to attach your own strap. As a result, it is only really suitable for putting inside another bag, rather than being able to carry it on its own.

In use the controller worked well with my Xiaomi 10T Lite (plus gel case). The USB-C connector rotates up, allowing you to slide the phone on easily. The ‘jaws’ hold the phone securely in place. Pass through power only works with certain phones. With my 10T Lite it worked reasonably well. Sometimes it would only work with the phone off, but this was usually fixed by just taking the phone off the controller and putting it back on again.

The controls themselves are all responsive, and I had no issues using them with Android games, Game Pass (Xcloud) games, and Steam Link. The control buttons and D-Pad have a click to them, but personally I do not mind that. The triggers worked well, proved accurate and have a consistent resistance throughout their travel.

I must admit, having large, adult hands, I did find the controller to be cramped. It’s not too bad when playing a game that just uses a few controls, such as a racing game, but it did hamper me with games that required me to use all the controls continuously, especially at a fast pace. I understand they make the controller at this size to match the width of phones, but I wish they made an alternative controller with larger sides, to accommodate adult hands, even if it looks a little silly in product photos.

In conclusion this is a very nice, well made controller. It is a great way to play games on the go, whether they be directly from your phone, or streamed games from cloud based services or your own console/PC.

My only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5, is because the controller’s size makes the controls quite cramped to use. Whilst this results in a controller that is more portable, and there will be some people who won’t have any issues using it, I think most people will find that the cramped controls will impact their ability to play certain games in some way. Whether it results in them not being able to play as well, or not play for as long as they would like to, or whether like me, it will result in them actually not being able to play certain games, it will have an impact. Thankfully, given the number of games in the world, it is easy to find games that you can play and enjoy comfortably; I just wish you didn’t have to.

~ Amazon asked me to review this product and to give my honest opinion about it. That’s what I have set out to do, so I hope you found it helpful. ~

Really premium-quality game controller that’s compatible with most modern Android phones with a USB-C charging port. It’s a bit like turning your phone into a Steam Deck, but much cheaper!

I tested this with Diablo Immortal on my OnePlus 7T phone. I was impressed with how easy it is to set up and use. It’s super comfortable, with well-positioned buttons and triggers. Clearly lots of thought has gone into this design.

This controller may seem expensive but I think this is one of those occasions where it’s really worth it.

Excellent device to make your phone a full handheld games console.
I ordered the Gamesir as have been long time gamepass subscriber and play on the go but find using the touch screen unresponsive or miss inputs so thought this would help, I’ve got say say it works effectively, I can’t feel any delay whilst playing and find it so much better than using the touch screen.
I’ve also tried the Gamesir on quite a few emulators too and almost all picked up without no setup, just plug in and play.
Its quick and simple to put your phone into, I like the feel of the controls, looks good against an official xbox control pad (see pic) so fits well with the theme, the one negative as some have said on other reviews is I had to remove my Note 10+ case for it to work but it’s minor niggle and dependent on your phone and case.
It comes with 2 sets of swappable thumb sticks, 2 stickers and 1 month gamepass for new subscribers.
Overall I really like it and use often, I’ve waited until it had some hard use before reviewing and it’s held up to some long beat em up sessions well.
    Would recommend.

It was my first time buying and trying out a mobile game controller. So I gave this one a try.
I am impressed by the quality of this mobile console and how comfortable it is to hold.

I especially like the rotatable Type C port among other things. This is indeed a handy solution that I noticed outright.

This piece of equipment is also fairly priced considering all the other obvious benefits this controller comes with. Also, a very solid gift idea.

This is an excellent way to play your Xbox games around the home. Your phone slides in sand connects to the USB c connector which I’m happy to say is very flexible so no worries if damage. The left controller slides out and creates a snug hold on your phone. Using the Xbox Android app I used remote play, and then all the controller buttons are mapped automatically and I can play as if I was actually on my Xbox.
There is a through USB c port to allow you to charge your phone whilst playing. Also included is a hard carry case to keep it safe.
Such an excellent product, I’m really impressed with it.

With Xbox being so immerse and with a ton of things you can do now online and through cloud gaming, I finally took the plunge (also after seeing the ad for the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed Project Jade) so that I would be fully ready to jump in on mobile gaming.

The controller comes with a nice case to keep it in, it fits easily into travel bag and all round feels pretty sturdy with a good quality build, accompanied by triggers that don’t feel like they’re going to fall off. Its a solid piece of kit, is detected upon plugging in by the phone itself (in my case samsung) and was easy to utilise. I really can’t wait for my next long trip. All in its a good item, reasonably priced and if you know that during the holiday season you’re going to be wrapped up in a lot of family events and have no change getting near the telly, this item means you won’t have to and can continue to love your gaming. Magic.

I’m a first time user of a game controller for a mobile phone, and so far I’ve had a lot of fun. I have been using this GameSir X3 controller with my slightly ageing Oppo Find X2 Pro, although I did also test it with my previous OnePlus 7 Pro and my son’s new Pixel 6, all of which worked well.

Initially I found that the games I had installed on my phone would not work with this controller, I had to download some more intense driving and 3rd person shooter games for android. I have quite a few games that require the mobile phone in the vertical position, so these were unsuitable for use with the controller.

My phone fitted well in the controller, with the back of the phone tight against the cooling area. The camera bump did cause one side of the controller twist slightly, although this didn’t affect the operation controller joystick or buttons. All the joysticks operated smoothly and precisely, and the buttons have a nice positive reassuring click.

There is a USB C pass-through port for charging the phone while playing, which I found useful but I thought it was a shame this could not also power the fan. For powering the cooling fan there is a separate USB C port, I found I only really needed the cooling fan when testing with my son’s Pixel 6 mobile when running his most popular game, Minecraft, this phone does get quite hot but the fan does really help. I wish this fan could be removed when not using as it does add more weight and bulk to the controller, and when I’m out I don’t want to carry a powerbank and cable.

The GameSir X3 controller does come with extra joysticks and buttons, they are easily swopped over as they are held in place with small but powerful magnets. There is also a long USB A to USB C very flexible power only cable in the box.

Overall, this is a really good controller for the more serious player. It works best with the big titled games. Just wish the fan could be removed.

This is not to be confused with the original X2 controller. The original controller (a competitor to the first generation Razer Kishi), I believe, was fairly known for it being a phone controller working via USB-C, meaning that there should not be any latency issues, as well as no need to charge the device. This particular controller is one of the few that allows you to map each button on the screen manually, which is especially important for those mobile games with no native controller support.

Thankfully, this update has improved from the original (in my opinion) and has not taken away what was good about the old device. Examples include rotatable ABXY buttons, back buttons, and the trigger buttons being hall-effect (analogue).

The controller is not cheap in the slightest, but opening the box does provide the feeling of a product of a bit more quality. Part of this is definitely due to the included case. The design of the controller is updated; for example, the bottom right button, instead of being small and generic, is updated with a larger ‘XBOX’ button. Others are the joystick rims being a plain white (or black), as opposed to the switch colours.

Personally, I don’t consider the comfort that good. It’s much better than just playing on a screen, but this is far from the comfort of something like a PlayStation controller. The reason I say this is when you put your phone screen inside, it pushes my arms wider, which isn’t a bad thing but encourages my thumb to align more parallel to the sides of the controller as opposed to at an angle. This means that the right joystick sometimes interferes with my button pressing. I’m sure I can get used to it, but I don’t think it’s ideal, especially since the joystick sits a little more proud. I consider these analogue sticks much more superior to the ones in the switch, for example, and think it’s a good compromise. The back buttons, however, are nice. They are quite wide and flat, so they don’t alter the controller’s shape much at all. They feel generic, but that’s a good thing, as you can hold the controller any way you like and still press the buttons fairly easily. This is as opposed to the Xbox paddles that you can get, which I feel require more purposeful positioning of the hands/fingers. There are extra rubber attachments for the analogue sticks you can put on. However, these don’t sit too securely, I found, and cause the height of the analogue sticks to increase much higher, resulting in me taking them off, despite finding them more comfortable.

The buttons are also rotatable, for example, if you wanted an Xbox or Nintendo layout. These are simply done by lifting the buttons up. A nice touch is that the buttons are held in using magnets, so you can lift these up many times without the risk of them becoming loose after time. The magnets also provide a satisfying click.

The connection is via the USB-C port, and you should have thoughts about the durability if a phone were to constantly slide in and out. I can say that although there is very little motion side to side, the port does pivot very well, and you should have no issues trying to fit the phone in. However, the port does not move up and down. This is understandable, as, without securing it, the USB-C head would be loose and have a large risk of being broken. This means you need to be careful whether your phone is wide and/or has a thick case. The designers at Gamesir have thought about this and have provided sufficient room for small cases, as seen from the gap underneath my phone without a case.

A few reviews state that the passthrough charging functionality does not work. Looking at the website, there’s an included table of a few phones they have tested, which either work with this or not. Unfortunately, it does not seem to work on my phone, but it’s worth checking whether your phone is included in this list before ordering if this is important to you (I’ve inserted the table as an image from the website for convenience).

    On-Screen Mapping:
The reason why I went on the website was to install the program required to allow the on-screen mapping, which, as mentioned prior, is one of the few controllers that allow for this and would consider the no.1 benefit of this controller. There is a GameSir app in the play store, and this is indeed the safest way to install it, but you’ll soon find out that there is a subtle difference. You have to install the app from GitHub from a link provided on their website. This is because the mapping function isn’t allowed on the play store app, I think. However, that is not the only hassle you’ll encounter. There are a few steps that are required, including enabling developer options (if you have not done so already), enabling USB Debugging, and also a wifi registration function to connect the phone and controller together. After this, the mapping should work.

Another disappointment was the app. The app, at least on my phone, is very slow. For everything you tap, you have to wait a few seconds like the app has crashed, although it hasn’t. You’ll often get pop-up windows saying that the app is unresponsive and will have to press wait multiple times. This makes the app feel buggy. I can confidently say that this degrades the experience, and if the app were to improve, it would be a pleasant experience. You can update the firmware of the controller itself using this app as well.

The mapping functionality means you can finally play games such as Genshin Impact with a controller, which, if you don’t know, is a game I’d consider notorious for not having controller support on mobile. I have tested it on this game, and it does work well, especially if simply exploring and fighting enemies. However, you’ll start to find barriers to full controller support when carrying out more miscellaneous tasks in the game. This is not a fault of the controller but rather just the way the game is run. For example, selecting speech, locations etc., could normally be done using arrow presses or analogue-stick presses, something within the PS4 version. However, this is not possible/very difficult on the mobile version as it does not expect arrow inputs, and the arrows are most likely already used to switch characters. This is not something that I was expecting before getting this controller, but it does make sense after trying this out and is the unfortunate reality of touchscreen-designed games.

Overall a nice controller. The keys are more clicky and have a shorter travel than something you’d expect on traditional controllers (excluding the switch joycons), but overall the quality of the controller is good and outside of games which weren’t particularly designed for controllers, it operates well. I’d be happy to recommend this controller, given that you know that the app is buggy and not all games will be very compatible, despite the mapping functionality.

    Hope this helped.

Updated Version of the X2 - allows for mapping.

I was waiting to try out the GameSir-X2 Pro-Xbox (Android) gaming controller. Finally it had USB-C connectivity instead of Bluetooth, including pass-through charging so I can charge my S22 Ultra while I play for once.
This is a physical game controller, compatible with pretty much any cloud streaming service or native Android game. It has a button layout based on the Xbox control scheme, with a few added buttons such as the two programmable back buttons and the share/record button. This particular model was developed in partnership with Xbox. Buttons are changeable to suit an Xbox layout or other console layout to keep it familiar. It feels great in your hands and as always Gamesir doesn’t disappoint when it comes to controllers.

This is a marked improvement on the previous model, which was pretty good already. The X2 features customisable button mapping, and pass through charging (depending on your phone model). It’s a really neat little solution to mobile X Box gaming, and the best I’ve experienced so far. The buttons are responsive, and gameplay is seamless. The Gamesir X2 comes with a really neat little storage case, as well as a month’s XBox Game Pass Ultimate, although this is only for new subscribers, which is a pity when so many gamers already subscribe. I’m sure this has been built into the price of the X2, so maybe they should offer it with, or without the Ultimate Pass to make the controller a more attractive price. The X2 is comfortable to hold, and the stretch to fit chassis of the controller should accommodate most smartphones. I really like it, and will be taking it with me on business trips, so that I can enjoy some gameplay away from home.

The GameSir X2 Pro is undoubtedly a high quality gaming controller.

Inside the well presented and neatly packaged box you will find a high quality travel case with the controller tightly packed inside. The fact that this comes with a travel case is a huge bonus over some of the competition. The case itself is very sturdy and feels very safe. As well as the controller, inside the travel case is a red box holding the manuals, alternative analogue stick tops and a key for gamepass ultimate – nice.

N.B. The gamepass ultimate key will only work for new members to gamepass.

Plugging your phone into the controller is easy, and should work across a very wide variety of phone sizes. The USB C plug rotates so that you can put the phone in (and take it out) at an angle, and the controller extends to accommodate larger devices with a longer height. The extension feels super sturdy and is very tight – your device feels very safe in there. The width of your device isn’t an issue since the rubber padding at each end has no lip.

Once the device is plugged in, android will just detect it and it’ll be ready to go. For testing I loaded up Xbox Gamepass and played some Forza Horizon 5 – the controller performs brilliantly, it’s fast, responsive, etc. However, the buttons do make quite a bit of noise – this isn’t really noticeable whilst playing but it’s important to keep in mind.

In terms of comfort, this is entirely subjective but, I found this controller not to be the greatest fit for my hands. I think if you like the Switch Joycons you’ll love it, but personally I would’ve preferred a bit more of a round edge to the front bottom where your palm meets the device – it’s no big deal and the controller is still nice to use, I am mostly nitpicking for the purpose of a thorough review.

The build quality of the device itself is also fantastic, the plastic feels premium, there is a decent weight to it, the triggers feel nice.

The paddles on the back are of an excellent quality, and do not interfere with holding the device. You wont accidentally press them and they do not effect the comfort of the device.

Overall I feel that for 79.99 this is a fantastic piece of kit, it is high quality, easy to use, feature packed and more.

    Fantastic controller for cloud gaming.

Slide the controller out attach your usb-c mobile phone and away you go. There is so much more though to the controller.

It comes in a lovely carry case the sort of thing that you would expect to house a nintendo 3ds or switch. inside is a smaller red box containing a one month code for xbox game pass ultimate and two pairs of analogue joystick covers (the default ones are a little small for my tastes so fitted two of these immediately) also instruction manual and a sticker.

The layout is clearly aimed out uses of xbox and its cloud service however this controller does allow you to change the buttons around (they are magnetically attached) to make a nintendo switch configuration or more importantly one that also matches the android gaming configuration for the likes of playing Fortnite, asphalt 9 legends etc.

Movement and accuracy seems really good (xbox cloud gaming) with responsiveness very good, there are also a couple of mappable buttons on the rear similar to what you get with an xbox elite controller and can be mapped to any button you wish.

The quality of this is easily on a par with my razer kishi (xbox branded) and imo better due to the fact you can change the buttons to suit the game and device.

    Great produc
