A great little notebook. Feels good. Keyboard is fine but not a good as a 1000 laptop but just fine. Touchpad is good. This is Very thin and Very light. Battery advises between 2.5 – 5 hours when fully charged so its fine and in line with most laptops. It has Windows 10 Pro Education pre installed.
I had a windows update issue as you can get with any windows installation. It would not complete the update. I just downloaded the windows installation file from Microsoft, run it which re installed windows (no licences needed it just replaces the install) and bingo all works brilliant. I bought it for my mum who loves it. It is intended for browsing mainly but to be honest its quite a fast little machine, responsive etc.. Its not a gaming machine though. Verdict fantastic and for 96 ! Insane value 🙂 Yes I would buy another.
Am not techno whizz but it took me about an hour to set it up and connect my phone and transfer all my apps to the computer can’t believe the price
I wanted a sub 100 laptop and got one. If I paid 200 for this I would have given it 2 stars, but I am amazed at how they managed to put together a laptop that can sell for 100 and still function adequately. It is sluggish at times, struggled to install all of the Windows 10 updates, and it feels quite flimsy and cheap, But it works fine, and the battery lasts for several hours of active use.
I bought this for occasional use for my amateur radio hobby to make digital contacts and for logging. I put it through its paces and it did the job. I plan to operate away from home, and this allows me to do this as it has great battery life, as well as being able to charge via USB-C, so my portable power station will be able to give it more life if I am out for a long time.
The touch-pad is a bit annoying and sometimes does not do what you want it to do, but I am sure this is something I can get used to. I am able to type accurately at my normal speed so the keyboard is fine.
As I said, it is flimsy, so if you are picking it up from the edge with the lid open, you will notice that the plastic barely manages to carry the weight of the whole unit, so if you move it, it is probably best to close the lid first.
If you are like me and have spent lots of money on laptops before, so was not expecting much when you are not spending lots of money, this will not disappoint for value for money, so although it is not great, it cost me less than 100, so for that it is almost disposable, and it also does the job!
I wanted a spare laptop for writing, so this is perfect given how much it cost. the OS works fine, I spent ten mins stripping out bits I didn’t need to make sure there was as much space as possible then it was ready to go. Battery lasts a long time, keyboard is has a bit of a plastic clattery feel which is faintly annoying but no big deal. no need for expert setup so long as you’re willing to have a rummage through menus, my tech level isn’t high at all.
I bought 3 and I was a bit worried with some of the reviews and when I got them I had them on charge and they wouldn’t come on but I left on charge and all 3 laptops are beautiful, look brand new and work perfectly they’re great for school work and gaming which is what the kids need them fir I will 100%recommend to anyone
I didn’t even allow Windows 10 to install. Just inserted a USB installation stick for Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon in the right hand USB port, booted up while pressing the DEL key and it went into BIOS. Selected the Linux stick and voila, booted straight up into Linux. Installation was straightforward and without issue and everything seems to be working great with the minor exception of the SD card reader, but no great loss. Overall I’m chuffed with my purchase.
Great product and well worth the pric at just 99. Does what any other laptop can do. Recommended
Fabulous product. A good price and is easy to use
I bought this at 99.99, looking for something cheap to let me do desktop tasks while travelling.
Out of the box the laptop is surprisingly better quality than what I’d expect given the price. It certainly doesn’t feel “cheap,” and the outer casing has a nice matte rubber finish.
The reason why its being sold at a bargain price I think is found in the OS – it is running Win10 Education. So these are unsold school surplus is my guess. The main difference between Pro and Education is that Ed. lacks Cortona.
It’s biggest flaw is its storage space or lack thereof. It lists 64GB, but out of the box it was around 46GB of free storage avaliable with the programs preinstalled. After upgrading Win10 to the latest update – there was only 10GB left! If you are looking to store anything biggger than text files on this, you’ll need to install a microSD or get an external HD.
Comes with a charger of a good length. Audio a little tinny but not expecting much at this price. The 2 USB connectors are on opposite ends of the laptop, which isn’t great if you have a device that requires 2 USBs to charge. Connects to the wifi without problems. Updating windows took a few days of troubleshooting.
Other than that I can’t really complain for what you get at this price. It lets me write documents/emails while being very portable. Would also recommend for students who just want a device to write essays without taking up too much space. Would be 5 stars if not for the low HD storage.
great little laptop and a good price just the job
A VERY USEFUL MOBILE PRODUCT. EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY. WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.
It’s really a struggle to use the Microsoft office on it
The works document isn’t working , I don’t know if i need to buy the Microsoft office suite to install
For less than 100 I can browse the internet, watch SkyGo, and pick up emails. The screen seems great quality, very clear. Why only 4 stars? Well, it’s a bit slow, and although it does what I need it to I know it couldn’t be pushed very far. Not a lot on internal memory either, although you can use an SD card to mitigate against that.
For under 100 it’s a good bargain and limitations are understandable at the price.
Great notebook laptop .bought for my daughter for home work , you tube.
Great for the price good size scree
Nice small laptop for regular day to day work, kids project work and movies watch can’t run business working apps but good for regular use.. happy with the produc
The screen isn’t the finest definition you’ll get – it reminded me a little of some of the early LCD panels! – but it’s compact enough and good enough to watch movies on quite nicely, thank you.
Despite feeling slow compared with some, a friend replaced his 8 year old laptop with one of these and hardly noticed the difference (he paid 500 for the now deceased lappy). Then he told me how pleased he was with it, so I got one as a back up.
So here’s what I do: I do a bit of typing, a bit of web surfing and some social media/streaming… AND use it as a phone. It works. It works REALLY well. Mine isn’t temperamental – she can be a little slow in getting there, but she gets there.
I paid 100 for it and consider it the best value for money I’ve ever had in the history of Me.
Yes, I looked at the price and even the negative reviews, but… this is just awesome value for money and affordable (to many, even in the current climate) either as an emergency replacement or as a backup.
Unless you’re a Gamer or doing heavy duty video and audio mixing or something, it’s fine – for the price, it’s BRILLIANT.
* Handles email, streaming apps, browsing fine
* Adequate screen. No blue tint as reported by other users
* Battery life good enough – 5+ hours intensive use
* Lightweight (although it is weighted heavier on left where battery is)
* Solid keyboard
* Runs a 128GB SD card no problems
* On the minus side 64GB is very small HDD. After a few days an update required an uninstall of programs just to complete update. Needs transfer to SD of documents and moveable programs to keep HDD free.
If the drive was bigger this would get 5* without question. It performs quicker than laptops I have had for 5 times the price. A bargain.
It is a neat slim laptop with a solid state hard drive, so no noise or fan. Hard drive is only 64GB with the Windows 10 Pro (Education version) software already taking up about a third of that; a simple micro SD card can be placed into the dedicated slot to add a further memory up to an additional 64 GB. Two USB 3 ports but, annoyingly, one is right beside the power plug. No CD/DVD drive but USB versions of these drives are cheap enough. No ethernet port, so internet connection has to be WiFi
When initially setting up, maybe do not connect to the internet – when prompted look for “I don’t have internet’ in a small text link, bottom left – this removes all requirements to register or enter any sort of details
Important to follow the small instruction leaflet to avoid issues. The laptop needs to be on charge before it is first switched on, no need after its first complete charge.
The charging port is on the LEFT side, there is an identical headphone port on the right. Be certain that you do not get these confused or it will appear that the battery dies or does not charge from flat
Switching on is a five second firm push and release, then wait maybe another 5 seconds … otherwise it appears dead. Once on, the first port of call must be the power settings; the default settings switches the laptop off after just a few minutes of inactivity .. making it appear defective
There are some issues with Windows 10 Pro Education as a software bundle but that can’t be blamed on the laptop. Going through the apps list and uninstalling the stuff you do not need really does help. Similarly a visit to the task manager > start up and disabling everything in there (except security) will have this romping along
A very good idea to make a system repair disc (control panel | back up and restore) and a system image once you have finished tweaking it to your liking – between those two you can set it back to how you had it. Repair discs etc that are NOT from Window Pro Education 64 bit will NOT work. Windows 10 reset (settings | update) works to reset it to a factory state but it does take a long time on this laptop during which it appears to be thinking, just leave it (plugged in, with power settings not to turn off) and let it do its thing maybe for several hours
Not for gaming or anything too resource heavy or large installation but good enough for bashing out Emails, writing essays, listening to music and watching reruns of the Muppet Show on YouTube
All in all, for 99 it is pretty darned good
Note that neither the processor nor the RAM are upgradeable (without a soldering iron!)
One gripe though: It ignored my command NOT to update Windows Security (Note that as I had no requirement to access the internet I had disabled the browser)
But for 99 there is no competition.
I love this it is so easy to set up and it works really fast. Good for my online training and browsing
Does exactly what it is. Good laptop for kid to use at school. Basic word email internet perfect as a first laptop
Opening of the laptop was like getting a new iPhone feeling(if your an iPhone user) beautiful quality I was so shocked! So I thought maybe they make it look good because the laptop is not good but I WAS WRONG we have a Apple Mac and I just can’t use it now this laptop I put ABOVE MY APPLE MAC! Apple Mac is being sold. This does everything I need. Thankyou guys for making this quality piece of tech
Brought this for my daughter for her to access her home work ect. From what she has told me it’s a great little lap top
I am in general very happy with the product.
; HOWEVER, the delivery was AWFUL, the driver/delivery man was is the issue. The product was sent fast no complaints there, but when I came home from work the package was just plonked down in the middle of the ground floor entrance way. My flats don’t need keys or a key code to get in, the vestibule/halls are open to anyone and everyone. It’s pure luck that I found my keys parcel before someone walked off with it – and mine wasn’t the only amazon package just abandoned and left out in the open! There were two other flats’ Amazon parcels just left out in the open. Disgraceful
Brilliant little laptops for my kids school work, got my niece one too after purchasing ours the only downfall is 1 works without the power adapter and one does not but thats not a problem for how we have them set up. Really fast to set up, easy to connect to WiFi. Really pleased with the purchase. Thank you
Update: Had to send this back as the battery doesn’t hold a charge at all. Would have been fine for home use when I can leave it plugged in, but I’d expect it to last at least a couple of hours when travelling. If you want a cheap laptop to use at home where you can run it off the mains you’ll struggle to get better for the price.
What a super little laptop computer, so fast it’s unbelievable’., FULL MARKS HERE.
Very good product for the amount of money runs fas
Really quick delivery and for money very good. I can see what people mean by the blue tone but can live with that, wish was a little brighter. Very good order experience, only negative which is nothing to do with suppliers was it was meant to be a signed for delivery but driver dumped in cardboard bin.
bought as a present for my son, first laptop and what a bargain! Highly recommended
This is perfect for my son. He was goven it as a christmas present. We did have a touch and go moment where it rebooted itself and got stuck but that has only happened once so hoping it was a one off. He absolutely loves it x
its a good little laptop, people are saying it has a blue screen, mine came perfectly fine but its a little bit slow but thats fine, and the battery dies kinda fast but it charges quick and you can play some games on it like roblox ect. overall its a good lightweight laptop i recommend it if you are looking for a cheap laptop
I’m able to use my phone data/hotspot thru bluetooth and tethering for internet on the laptop. That really pleased me. No need for contracts. I can also use this laptop as a tablet which is also interesting.
I’m in love with this laptop.
Volume on full is not too loud (no worries, just saying)
Just delivered so still playing with it but is is comparable speed to my Chromebook.
Lightweight and easy to carry. During set up I had it on my lap and found base got very hot.
It has good WiFi range, but as a laptop it’s not fast, it feels very cheap and plasticky, but then it’s super cheap and you get exactly what you pay for.
This exceeded my expectations. For the money is is fantastic.
I’m using main mainly plugged in so haven’t really tested the battery life beyond an hour or so.
I was hesitant about buying this, it seemed too cheap , but I was not disappointed. It’s entirely adequate for basic jobs such as word processing and spreadsheets. Quick to boot and clear screen.
I don’t know about battery life so no rating for that.
Definitely worth the money.
Good battery life.
Can expand memory to 1TB.
I did not expected anything really from the laptop but I am surprised!
I started with Linux Mint and it was cool and everything worked out of the box and it was fast enough.
I had some free time today and tried to install Windows 11 on it. I downloaded it from Microsoft and it installed (fresh install) and activated itself without any problem (Pro Educational version).
Everything worked, the drivers were easily available – even trough Windows update.
Installed basic stuff like MS Office and WSL etc. The machine runs web browsers, editors, all good.
The 64GB eMMC is not SSD fast and the processor can sweat a bit under updates, but once they are done, the machine is okay. I can still add a micro SD card to add more space.
The battery time is great. It must be over 6h.
I like that the USB C port can charge the machine, so I can use my chargers on the machine. A 12V charger also included.
There is no active cooling, so the machine is silent.
The speakers are not so load but there is a headphone jack and Bluetooth too.
The screen is acceptable. Not legendary but not super bad either.
There are two full size USB3 ports – one in each sides.
The material of the laptop is a finger print magnet. It is kind of rubbery.
You can get use to the keyboard, at least it is UK layout.
The touchpad works as expected. Even supports two finger scrolling.
EDIT1: one laptop had the blue tinge/hint to the screen that I’d read about in other reviews. I only noticed it because I had two to compare. You can see it on the black of the start menu – the working laptop is black/black and the blue hue one is much lighter, as if you have the brightness turned up too much (and btw I did turn the screen brightness to max on both laptops to compare). Of course Amazon were awesome and I have a replacement on the way. I still stand by my original review, fantastic laptop.
EDIT2: The replacements (I bought another two) also both had the problem of blue tint to the screen! This means out of four I have received, only one laptop didn’t have the problem!! I’ve ordered a further two which probably puts me at risk of Amazon thinking I am being fraudulent!! If these next two are also faulty then I think it is safe to assume it’s a systemic problem. Odd as it sounds, I may actually end up keeping one because other than the blue tinge they’re great laptops (can’t believe I am saying that lol).
EDIT3: It seems I managed to get the only non-blue screen! Outbid the six I ordered, 5 had the blue screen and only the one didn’t! An odd decision, I decided to keep one of the blue screened laptops as well as the unaffected device. The laptops are for young kids and at 99 it’s still a no brainier! Good luck!
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
The quality is superb. Slim and light but with enough weight to feel robust enough for kids to use.
I bought 2 for our kids. Thry use Xbox and PS5 for gaming so these laptops will be great as homework, photo editing and general browsing laptops.
The MicroSD expansion is a great bonus – I bought a 128Gb Sandisk MicroSD for a little over a tenna and it works a treat – you have around 30Gb free on the internal storage once Windows has finished setting up, so 128Gb on a MicroSD for almost pennies makes this laptop at 99 an absolute bargain.
Laptops set themselves up perfectly first time. I’ve spotted some reviews about the Windows 11 upgrade not working so I will figure a way to disable that.
This is a great little notebook and performs even better when Windows is off it.
Easy to use, and very lightweight. Early days yet but looks ideal for my use, Internet, spreadsheets etc. Very pleased. The only real disappointment was the delivery. Having chosen a post office Amazon Hub address you’d think the driver would know the opening times of a post office? First attempt on a Sunday, The second attempt in an evening. Luckily the third attempt was 20 minutes before they closed. After complaining via live chat I was promised 10 credit for the inconvenience which has yet to materialise.
The Teen has been using it for a full college week now. Only on for some of the lessons and a few bits of homework, but it managed around 12h all on one charge.
I had to buy a micro travel mouse though as Teen was struggling a bit with the trackpad. I don’t know if the issue is with the laptop or the user though.
This week will be more busy so I’m expecting more charges, but in terms of performance so far it’s surpassed my wildest expectations.
It will not be able to upgrade to Windows 11 and we’re happy about that. It won’t run most games, again this is a work machine. It connected happily to the college systems and to the home WiFi and printer.
There’s expandible memory in the form of a microSD slot, but I’ve not had to get one yet as the Teen is currently saving everything to the college system or their USB stick.
The USBs feel a bit tight, but better tight than loose so they’re fine.
The MSOffice it purports to come with is the free online version. If you need to be doing stuff offline, it’ll happily run any one of the free open-source office systems, but will also go right up to MS Office 365 if you want to pay for it. Most educational establishments use the Microsoft scheme where you can get a limited time student license for 365, so do check with your school about that if using it for school. My teen’s worked using their college email address.
Will not run anything graphics or resource heavy. And I’m pretty certain it would struggle with a video Teams meeting, but for really basic office stuff it’s amazing for the price point.
So far I’ve spent 100 for the unit, a fiver for the mouse and 15-odd for a waterproof case. I expect to be spending another 20 or so on a fast write-speed microSD at some point.
