The watch is very nice with some decent faces and a smooth profile.
It doesnt deserve 5stars since google has really trashy sales policies. If you are deemed special enugh, you can order from Google store with pre order bonuses and better prices, but they offer no such thing through amazon or to the larger audience
Fr das ablesen der Daten auf dem Smartphone bentigt man eine App, die mntl. 8 kostet. Das war so nicht vorrauszusehen, darum schicke ich die Uhr zurck.
Excellent smartwatch, comfortable to wear. My only complain is the battery life but it’s not a big deal unless you want to use the watch for sleep tracking.
Watch, day and date, calendar, pill reminder, aop alarm, fall alert, where’s granny.
Google have made a good job of this. Easy set up, comfortable to wear, including sleeping. The best of Google and Fitbit is all there on your wrist. I like it a lot.
Absolutely love the watch, fits really well. Not bulky at all when on the wrist
Works best with pixel phones almost pronto
My only downside is the fact you cannot access 6 months fit bit (they only allow a 3 month lmtd supply. Both Google & fitbit got blame each other so disappointed
The “LTE” definitely does not work without your phone keeps saying no internet access so a bit useless for paying extra. It does surprisingly let you use Google wallet?? But no calls in or out
I do love the comfort &look of watch so will keep it &hopefully Google should sort this LTE out pronto or they should give you that extra back for this
Everything works great, just the battery is a bit of a downer.
The Wear OS market finally has a true Apple Watch competitor.
It has and does everything the Apple Watch does, nust works and also looks really attractive compared to the Apple Watch.
The watch’s HR sensor is 1:1 with a medical grade HR sensor and all the other sensors have comparable performance as well. That includes ECG, GPS, spO2 (although, blood oxygen measuring is not available at this time, it should come with a software update, apparently), a sensor to detect whether the watch is on your wrist, an ambient light sensor and I think more, but these are the ones I actively use.
The battery is crap the first 4 days, but after that period passed, I’m getting around 39 hours of battery life.
The operating system is the smoothest out of all other watches at this price point or higher price points. The Galaxy Watch 5 isn’t even close to how responsive this watch is and the Apple Watch is essentially at the same level of responsiveness.
Lastly, this watch gets a lot of false reviews claiming a bad battery life and/or fitness inaccuracies. Some also complain about the 2 fitness options you get on the watch. Just choose one option. I use Fitbit, personally, but you can also use Google Fit or use Fitbit and sync it to Google Fit. Don’t listen to these nitpicky false reviews, it’s a good watch.
Pros:
– Nice feature set
– Good combo of smartwatch functions and fitness
– Comfortable wristband
– Stable bluetooth
Cons:
– Battery life; I can squeeze out ~48 hours if I turn off a bunch of stuff
– Calorie calculation is a bit high, probably fixed in a future software update
Been using the LTE version for a week. Very easy to set up.
Fastest wear os watch I’ve ever used, calling and messaging on it is great, great watch faces and looks amazing! Google assistant is fast and snappy. Lots of tiles on wear os 3.5 too. Safety features are cool too and love the watch strap options. Bitmoji watch faces and Google photos watch faces are also fun. Finally wear os phone app has been massively updated.
Disappointed with battery life hopefully that improves and to be honest has gotten better over the week as I’ve made tweaks.
Also don’t like Google maps doesn’t have public transport directions and won’t work unless connected to phone via Bluetooth. On Wear OS 2 swipe left would bring up Google assistant and other useful features similar to at a glance but it’s bizarrely been removed hope they bring it back. Also missing is the ability to write/type using handwriting, needs to be brought back.
Apps are generally better on Wear OS 3.5 but missing Uber and Google news from wear os 2.0 hopefully they come soon in future updates.
bought mine over the weekend. It is good to have a solid built and reliable watch. Battery life is about 24 hours (which is normal in this segment and size of watch). Watch size is good i.e. not too big and not too small and looks are very good. Comes with two straps for the wrist catering for different sizes. Set-up is easy and it works like a charm.
It’s great, I’ve had so many good comments, looks great. Super useful to have the LTE version so I can go for a run without my phone and still make and receive calls!
There are many negative reviews here about this watch, some of which I feel are totally unfair. The Pixel watch is definitely overpriced for what it is currently and would benefit from 100 bucks being taken off, but the build quality and performance of the device is excellent. The watch does not look like your average fitness tracker and has a premium look and finish that will obviously not survive rough use and extreme sports. The watch obviously burns a lot of battery during the initial setup because there are firmware and app updates that need to be applied. When you start using it on the regular however, you can get a full day’s worth of battery life by turning off things like the voice activated assistant. Users have reported better battery performance after the first few days of use, so definitely give it a week before you make up your mind about returning it.
It’s stunning. Feels very premium. Bezels were a concern from leaked photos and launch. But in real life they’re genuinely not an issue. It’s a small watch, but similar to the smaller galaxy 5 (with same screen and bezels by the way).
The built in watch faces are very nice. Simple but premium.
Watch strap included is soft and supple. But I’m disappointed that replacements are really expensive if you buy official Google ones.
Battery life is fine. It could be better. But it’s fine. I used all day yesterday for 16 hours with everything turned on. Including always on display and lift to wake. After 16 hours I was on 35% battery. That’s ok for me. First day wearing it so was playing with it much more than normal.
So I bought the Pixel 7 Pro and received the LTE Pixel watch for free. I’m coming from a galaxy watch active 2 and my first impressions were oh my god. This is tiny.
So I’ve used the watch for a day or two now and I’m loving how smooth the animations are, there’s been lots of talk of the thick bezels but to be honest with the OLED screen, you don’t notice them anywhere near as much as you think you would.
The battery life could be better but Google did state that it’ll be 24 hours. After setting up the device I popped it on the charger to 100%. Took it off the charger at around 11:00 p.m. and went to sleep. Woke up with around 75% charge and went off to work. Did my day and battery saver kicked in at 20% battery around 7:00/8:00 that evening. With it being such a small battery, it charges back up again relatively quickly.
I knew that Google bought Fitbit but currently there is no way use Google Fit unless you install a third party app called HealthSync which allows you to move data from Fitbit to Google fit. I was doing this with my active 2 as I prefer the look of Google fit versus Samsung health. So to use any of the fitness features you will need to install Fitbit and create a Fitbit account.
I’ve not worked out if there’s a way to increase the vibration intensity on my wrist, I have missed some notifications due to just not feeling it. That could be user error though.
The watch band it comes with is very comfortable and I’ve not got any issues so far. It feels like a very soft material similar to the standard band that you get with the Active 2. But for some reason my skin had a nasty reaction to the active 2 band, that has not happened with the standard pixel band.
The galaxy active 2 I came from had the 44 mm screen where this one at 41mm. Now the text is perfectly clear. I cannot see any pixels but I do find myself wanting to increase the font size a little, just so I don’t have to bring the watch so close to my face to read it.
I’ve not had chance to try out any of the fitness tracking as I’m deathly ill whilst writing this review but the heart rate monitoring is spot on and it should be as accurate as any Fitbit currently out there.
The one phone call I’ve tried was really clear and the other person had no issues hearing me.
To sum up, I like it a lot. Under 300 would have been a better price in my opinion, when you compare the battery life and durability you get from the current galaxy watches it’s hard to justify the extra cost, but again, I pre-ordered the 7 Pro (which is great by the way) and picked the watch over the Pixel Buds Pro for free. I would prefer a bigger screen and a bigger battery but for Google’s first watch I’d give it a 4/5.
Hardware:
The design is on the small size 41mm, very comparable to the market leader Apple watch size. Build is stainless still and glass so is premium thru and thru. It uses a unique band mount which is quite genius because it allows for a seemless look and quick strap changes. The screen size is 30mm which is best given its domed design, screen would distort and look terrible if it was any bigger
Software:
This a gen 1 product that does not boast any new features but has all the current ones which it work very well. The heart rate is accurate as a chest strap and the gps is fast and as good as a samsung or apple equal. The ECG works on all android phones 8.0 and higher, unlike samsungs that only works with Samsung phones. It tracks sleep well.
Wears 3.5 is very simple to use and allows for easy access to google wallet and the assistant, if using a pixel phone there is fast pair.
Notifications are handled is the usual wear OS way and can use googles keyboard for easy replys by voice or typing. There is also camera controls for remote picture taking
Fitbit intergration is great as it brings 8 years of there software experience along with it for the health management and app plus all the exercises.
Battery:
This a wide area to talk about, its a full featured smartwatch like an apple or samsung watch but the small variant. So like the other two watches a single day use (24 hours is all to be expected if used in the same way). With Alway on screen turned on 12 hours at most, so a work day. The battery life is average at best. First setup uses a lot of power but the next day it settles in. It does charge upto 50% in 30mins tho.
Conclusion:
Its not perfect but nails the core features very well. Battery is average and build is excellent. Its smooth simple like a pixel product should be.
If you use a lot of google services then this is the ideal companion. Samsung watch is an good alternative for sure, plus that does have the option of a larger size. But ECG is missing and Samsung’s UI is quite different and notification handling is also different not stock Wear OS
I leave my original review below, since it was a true first impression, but things have improved.
I waited for updates and tried again with the Pixel Watch, because I like its round and light design more than that of the Fitbit Sense and because technically, it works faster and more reliable and so is more pleasant to use. After updating everything (important: including all apps on the watch, accessed via the menu and ‘Play Store’, especially the Fitbit app on the watch), things finally worked. Yay! Counting steps and floors and measuring sleep also seems to improve by wearing the watch, so I have now retired my Sense.
There is still the problem with the boring, insufficient watch faces (hopefully, they will introduce some better faces soon) and with having to charge the watch at least once every day, but that I can live with. That’s why I am now giving 4 stars instead of the original two.
*** The original review ***
I was so looking forward to this watch, and was ecstatic when I got it for free with my Pixel 7 Pro. But my enthusiasm has all but disappeared. I have had it for 2 days now, and have already spent hours (and I mean this quite literally) troubleshooting. Setup, syncing with the Fitbit app, counting floors, measuring sleep, telling the weather – nothing has worked reliably. The exercise types are missing some important ones, the available watch faces are unsatisfying, to say the least. Plus, the thing does not even last a full day, even without always-on screen. Now the syncing with Fitbit seems to have stopped for good, and none of the troubleshooting steps works. Will today return to my old Fitbit device. If I had paid for this watch, I would send it back.
It’s a great 1st attempt. I like it a lot, looks good great built quality. Battery life it’s OK. It’s been 19h now and it’s at 27%. Charge it before bed and it’s set for a night tracking and next day. Don’t get all the bashing it’s only 24hours battery so it’s bad. All Apple Watches last the same and it’s fine?!
It’s a good mix of Fitbit functionality plus smarwatch functions on top Fitbit lacks. Should be 50-100 cheaper tho
