Home security. This is a good camera. The suggested app could be better. Excellent service.
This a great security camera picture definition very clear, easy to install and set up. It’s the second camera I have bought first one was over two years ago and is still fine. After sale’s communication very good despite the different time zone.
I like the fact ieGeek does exactly what their CCTV camera says it does… And that it alerts me on my phone.
Quick and easy to setup. Picture quality is good. Easy to identify alarm instances and to also focus motion detection area.
Camera stopped working after 5 days. 5 start review is for the way ieGeek staff reacted to communicate and the sending of a replacement.
I would defnatly recommend this as it provides the alerts on time when there is a movement and also helps in checking the history
Seems like a decent camera easy to install, good quality picture and motion sensor seems ok but early days, not to sure on battery says upto 120 days but down to 74% after one day hopefully will settle down but overall seems quite decent for price. UPDATE sent camera back for refund as using battery to quick used 46% in only 4days, issue has now been resolved very pleased with outcome will shop with them agai
Fantastic product for the price, picture and sound quality are brilliant in both day and night mode. Ordered one day and arrived next day and was easy to set up.
Would definitely recommend this product and the customer care is first class.
Really pleased with my wireless security camera. Had it a week and the battery life is very good on it only used 25 % in 7 days . Very easy to install. The app is very easy to use to . All round performance so far is excellent.
Love this CCTV camera, was replacing my old CCTV that lasted me about 8 years with this one, I must say I am impressed with the quality of the camera, pictures, and the range it covers. It also has a speaker built in which I didnt have one the other camera. I would highly recommend for the price and quality.
Fantastic video quality. Nb Always install above the ground. I placed one on the floor for a year and the rain managed to seep in causing cloudy pictures. I have had similar cameras for several years without issue
EDIT:
After emailing their store, they have replied and issue is now fixed, a new update for the app was sent, and I managed to reset the password on the camera that wouldn’t recognise it originally.
I updated the app, and now it won’t store my cameras, and won’t recognise the password on one of them, so I basically have 2 cameras that don’t work. I go to the app website for help and it’s in Chinese, can anyone help?
I recently purchased the ieGeek IP camera and I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed. The video quality is fantastic and the app is easy to use. I appreciate the motion detection feature, which provides me with peace of mind when I’m away from home. Overall, a fantastic product that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable and user-friendly IP camera.
I paid 28.49 for this and consider it good value for money. It is a basic but good quality chinese ip camera.
Good points:
Easy to setup. MAC wasn’t printed on the camera, but I could see the dhcp logs and it got an ip quickly. Web (PC) interface is stable and the settings page, although basic in design (it looks like it was done in the 1990s) – everything I needed was where it should be and worked. I gave it a static IP, set the wifi details and then unplugged the supplied cat5 lead. It was back on the wifi on the same ip within 3 seconds and was stable. Wifi is stable and latency good, it has not disconnected once in 12h.
Picture quality is good, and it did manage to provide smooth 1080p over a wifi connection.
Camera build quality is good, and looks weatherproof.
The night view LEDs are surprisingly powerful – I could see a tree about 50m away in full darkness. They can be turned off in settings if needed.
It allows you to configure two viewing streams which is a nice feature, usually only seen in higher end cameras like my Vivotek, which costs over 10x as much as this.
It was very easy to connect to Zoneminder, using ffmpeg and the url rtsp://IP-ADDRESS:554/12 for the second stream.
I can’t comment on motion capabilities, sd-card recording nor the pc software that the web interface links to, as I didn’t use them.
Bad points:
Security is almost non-existent, unusual in a modern device. The web interface is http only, no https, no tls, no certs. The default user/pass is printed on the camera (not really a problem as you can change it) but the rtsp feed is viewable without any authentication. All of this is probably fine for a local network device, but if it was opened to the internet it would be compromised very quickly and could provide an access to your local network.
The mounting mount is fairly flimsy. Not unusably so, just not as well made as the camera itself.
Overall, this is a better quality device than most of the cheaper IP end, and ieGeek seem to take some pride, and I’ve seen them providing customer support here on Amazon.
Suggestion for ieGeek: Beef up the mount, make the plastic sections thicker. I have my doubts it will last for any time in sunlight before it cracks and fails. It’s also very easy for the camera to be knocked loose and move out of position. Also – consider a redesign on the web interface and invest in some basic security features. https by default with a full certificate would be nice so the user gets no browser warnings. Camera design is great, and features are great.
I have purchased a number of cameras from IeGeek. The IG20 and IE20. Both are of exceptional build quality. Have great functionality and produce very clear and good quality images. The App is user friendly as well, giving multi view options which allow you to set up any combination of 4 cameras to display at the same time. The cameras are easy to install and set up in minutes. Very impressed and would definitely recommend.
I have updated this review because I have managed to get it to do most of what I want it to do. So I have increased the star rating to 4 from the original 2.
Equipment wise this is an excellent product, but it is crippled by software limitations imposed by the manufacturer.
Minus 1 star: It says it can do FTP, it can but only the images on the autosnap stream alarm images and videos cannot use FTP
Minus 1 star: The alarm and video images can be stored on the cloud, but this is a subscription service.
Minus 1 star: I don’t want my cctv images stored on some Chinese server somewhere. Unacceptable.
Maybe if you review the software and issue a fix for the FTP I will come back and re-rate the produc
This camera arrived well packaged and instructions.
The night vision was very good and I was very happy with the picture. The camera is also very discreet as you can see in picture smaller than my iPhone. Clear sound.
Unfortunately I had to return this for two reasons.
1, The time kept reverting back to Hong Kong time no matter how many times I set and saved it which if a crime was to occur I think that would effect evidence- obviously purchased for outside of house for security so needs to be correct. Also was confusing recording as the times were all over the placed
2, I could never get it to connect to my Mac as you can see in pictures I kept getting error message wrong password after numerous emails back and forth to customer service- who are always polite and helpful- only problem they don’t have a phone number only email so long process! We couldn’t resolve so had to return such a shame as I really liked the camera.
Pretty happy so far, have found the instructions complicated but theses cameras are very versatile and have numerous functions, my IT skills are very average.
Spot on for keeping an eye on your gaff. Well worth the price.
Had the camera 4 weeks and stopped working it was close to Christmas they sorted it out and got me a new one asap and could not be more helpful.
Great Camera for the price does its job could not ask for more for the price.
This is a great camera for the price. My family now have six of them. Very simple to set up using the router cable provided and then configuring the wifi element. Have mounted them on IP65 boxes to contain cables. Makes animal watching a pleasure using the movement alarm record function.
Does everything it says on the listing. You will not be disappointed. Great price, fantastic camera
Every aspect from installation connecting and monitoring is so good. Very simple to install and to connect online and can be monitored online too.
Bought two of these as protection against next door neighbour making false accusations to police about me and to record her non stop yapping dog. Image is perfect, audio even better. Easy to set up too.
Brilliant value for the money. Not had much experience with CCTV but so far this seems to serve its purpose.
Positives
– easy set up
– easy fitment
– simple and free app interface
– picture quality and FOV
– 2 way audio
– mirror and flip image allows varied positioning
– zoom
Negatives
– power lead could be longer
– motion detection is maybe TOO sensitive
– live feed connection does dip in and ou
Ordered this camera as it gave the most options to be able to view the footage, from app on phone, website and desktop app. It arrived on time and packaged well
Night vision is ok but could be better but still good enough to be able to see what is going on. Purchased a memory card (needed if you want to record video, with using apps). Would be better if it was able to take a larger size but max size will hold 3-4weeks worth of recording at a good quaility.
Would advise to make sure the camera is shelter especially when its raining or you end up with lots of false positive results as the motion detector will pick up rain.
First few month of running the camera have been great and once I have sorted through all the different settings out. (including email notification and images).
However we did start having an issue with the night mode on the camera where it looks like it was in a constant snow blizzard.
Support have been great and we tried a number of different settings but unfortunatly didn’t resolve the issue but they sent out a new camera out and that has resolved the problem.
For the price of the product and the options it is able to do, I would definitely recommend this product and will be looking at additional camera in the future on another part of the house.
..so I could write this into a security light fixture which was already in location. I matched the power rating exactkly and used an AC to DC step down transformer and it refused to power up! Not only that, but somehow my actions led to the device no longer working even with original power supply and I did check it was working before modification was made. I’ve done the same thing in the past and it worked fine so something is screwy here and I’m buggered if I’m gonna buy it again to work out what caused this cos I literally can’t afford any further spending on cheaply made Chinese goods which probably included ‘phone home’ spyware in any case!
This camera is a no brainier the picture quality is top notch the night vision is excellent it detects sound and motion and takes photos and video recording plus you can talk to whoever is in your house over the app this camera is all you need if you want to protect your property does as good as any 500 upwards cctv system
A great value security camera, very easy to install & set up to the CamHipro app & great capture/quality video.
I initially had a bit of a problem with the video recording stopping after around 3 days even with ample room on SD card. Very good/speedy response from IGeek customer support, as recommended I ordered a better quality/speed MicroSD card & problem now resolved 🙂
Excellent night vision, Motion can be over sensitive at times, but does the job, easy to install very happy with the produc
I have contacted customer services and they have been in touch about what I needed to do to rectify my issues and all is now good.
Product was easy to install and set up. It’s not very user friendly for trying to playback from the SD card, and the motion detection is difficult to get right. It also keeps going offline for no apparent reason. The quality of the picture and the sound is excellent though
make sure NVR is switched on and wifi is active. Use camhipro on mobile to initially connect to phone using qr code on side and select the nvr ssid and enter password .ipcam will make a noise when connected. select onvif and add cam on nvr and it should appear. You can also plug cam into you house wifi using network cable and then using window app onvif device manager you can access hidden settings .
Recently bought two cameras. ieGeek 360 and a fixed one. Really impressed with the quality of the product and the picture quality.
Camera is used in my garage and is perfect. Audio can be slightly out of sync sometimes but not necessarily required anyway. Video is ideal, have 2 of these at my home too and work wonders.
I wanted an outdoor IP camera and chose this ieGeek unit. Simply pop a Micro SD card into the slot behind the rubber cover (you may want to put a thin line of silicone sealer on the edge of the cover), connect up the power and ethernet cable, press the reset button. Next, download the CamHi app to your phone or tablet. Tell it to search for the camera, change the password, increase the video quality settings, tell it to use a recording plan and you’re off and running. If it isn’t recording, use the app to format the SD card and then to restart the camera. For day to day, I prefer the CamHipro app. Just search for the camera and add it using the new password you set. It’s easy to adjust the movement sensitivity, focus and just about anything else you would need to do. You can also download the recordings to your phone/tablet to save any you want to keep. You really don’t need to be an expert to get great value from this device.
I bought this as a replacement for one that broke. It arrived quickly and was easy to fix into the place where the other one came from. It connected to the internet very easily and has been very good to date. I would consider buying another one. I do find the volume of the speaker just a little low but that isn’t really a major issue.
Sadly returned after 3 days as was full of water. Plastic construction with multiple vents in rear which limits angle of a incline and not as robust as previous models constructed of cast aluminium. Iegeek customer service hard to contact but eventually camera replaced. (*Recommend read ‘Which’ report about online security risk and need to set up camera security properly).
I had Iegeek camera before in my house for over 4 years. This new one was for our office and this along with other camera works perfectly fine. Easy to link to the existing app just by scanning the bar code. night vision and camera quality is also good.
its good for the money but a bit comlicated to install
I have installed this camera in an outdoor location. Installation was straightforward with no particular issue regarding the physical placement or indeed technically. The app Camhi Pro works well with no serious issues. I am not going to be negative in any way regarding this product because at the price paid it represents excellent value. Of course, one has to plan the mounting location and also one has to think about internet connection etc. This camera is no different from any other when it comes to connectivity. Any camera, irrespective of price will not connect if poor WiFi signal etc. Now,the things I’d like to point out and to consider before purchase. 1. Don’t expect great results if there is poor connectivity. 2. Three wires on the back need to ideally be inside the premises for connection. You will need a fairly large hole to pass the attached plugs through. Having said that if you only connect the power wire indoors then a much smaller hole is required. In fairness the connection look quite weather proof anyway so could be left as is outdoors but the power adaptor lead, one way or the other will still need to be passed through a hole or gap. Applying extra weather proofing to the external connections can be easily achieved. The connections I made are all indoors. 3. Video/photo quality is good, day or night. 4. Read the manual carefully and all will be fairly straightforward. 5. Camhi Pro works well but, like the manual, get to know it then you’ll have no great problems. 6. Experiment with the detection sensitivity. The default of 50 was too high for my usage. I’ve settled for 11 which performs well. 7. This camera has no function to detect humans alone so will be triggered for all movement. Consider this before placement. 8. SanDisk 64gB storage card works well for me. In summary I have given this product 5*’s. This is a competively priced (sub 30 at the time of purchase). It is excellent value for the price paid. Works well. Update. With regard to the a
activation [movement detection] unfortunately when it rains the rain sets off movement activation almost on a permanent basis. Result is many many false activations. Remedy – only option is to turn off movement activation. Even with setting sensitivity down as low as possible [1] does not stop erroneous activations due to rain or indeed any other movement, no matter how small. So, for me set to on when dry and off when raining or windy. However, the camera is always recording and storing the monitored area irrespective of activation being on or off. In summary, movement activation allows too many activations during rain and windy weather. Still, with the observations I’ve made a 5* review is deserved when one takes into account the price paid, sub 30. It serves well the purpose for which I bought it for.
For 30 it’s a great little camera. It’s easy to setup and the picture is great. There are a few downsides such as: 1) I have the sensitivity set low and it still triggers whenever the wind blows the plants 2) When triggered, it just pings a notification, I’d prefer an actual alarm to ring on my phone so that I’d wake up and check what’s going on (using it to catch foxes so needs to alert me) 3) The night vision is useless as I cannot see anything when it’s dark. I like the camera though and for 30 it’s not bad at all.
The picture quality is pretty good. Set up was okay. I tried setting up by WiFi only but got frustrated so set up via ethernet/router first then switched to WiFi. Just hope I won’t need to do it again as it will mean taking the camera down. I was surprised about how small and light the camera is. This replaced a bigger, metal camera that lasted over five years so I doubt this will last as long. Time will tell.
Love this camera, the picture quality is brilliant. We decided not to hardwire through the house and use wifi only. My wifi isn’t great and the camera does drop out sometimes but that’s down to my wifi, myself and my husband have the app for it and we can both view. You can speak through the camera and listen to audio. I will be getting an SD card for it.
The only negative (someone else mentioned also) the size of the hole needed to drill to feed the connections through is very large. If they could fix that it would be even better. We had to use a lot of silicone to fill the hole.
I was after an entry-level camera for the front of the house after a few events on the estate and general home security. The installation of the camera is fairly simple, just drill some holes in and put it up, and make sure it connects to the mains. This part of the process was absolutely fine. I did have a little trouble with the app, but that was also because I didn’t really read the instructions and didn’t realise what the default Wi-Fi password was, however after reading them again I was able to connect the camera to the app quite easily.
I found the app is quite easy to use, it does tend to lose connection but this could also be because I’m on Wi-Fi, and not Ethernet. However, saying that, it has recorded every event and I’ve been able to go back and view them with the app.
I was quite surprised with the night vision on this product, it is pretty good and I’m able to see quite a lot of detail as you can see from the pictures. you do need to play around with the motion detection to get it just right as I found it was going off all the time.
I did try to use the windows programme, however, this doesn’t work because this is asking for a password and it’s not accepting the password I have set as the default password. So I can’t view the camera from a laptop.
All in all, for the price, this is a very good piece of equipment and I definitely recommend it.
After been woken at midnight to the sound of scumbags ride up and down our dead end street casing garages and drives I thought it was time for a camera.
The camera came in a simple box with all cables and a little instruction manual; as Chinglish manuals go its pretty good however I didn’t need to use it.
Plug the ethernet cable into your camera lead. Plug the other end of the ethernet cable into your router. Plug in the power lead and turn it on. Next download CAMHIPRO onto your phone. Load CAMHIPRO to setup WIFI. Disconnect your ethernet cable and the camera should now be wireless.
My camera is positioned above my garage and gives great clear, sharp images, night and day, of my drive and the road just outside my house. With the camera been so far from my router it does drop out often (Check how strong the signal is with your phone before passing judgement). However the camera comes with the option to hook up an ethernet cable which should eliminate any drop outs.
CAMHIPRO works great with this camera. I can check in on my house whist at work, in fact anywhere as long as I have an internet connection. The inbuilt speaker means you can talk to any one on your property and they can talk back however I’ve had no use for this yet….Besides scaring my fianc and my kids as they walk down the drive 🙂
The only niggle I have is the sensitivity of the motion detection is too high; I think this is more of problem with the camera than the software. Small bugs floating past the camera trigger an alert even on the lowest sensitivity setting. This can result in 10s of Push notifications on my phone.
I have this currently connected by an ethernet cable to my home network. I have my server running CAMHIPRO (or HIP2P Client) and recording constantly. I tried all kinds of other IP camera software but this software for PC seems to be the best…if not a bit buggy at times. Alarms are easy to spot and play back.
Overall for 29.99GBP this is a great little camera. Don’t be put off by the bad reviews…..Most of the time its because they haven’t set the camera up properly!
Pros
+Great picture quality
+Great night vision quality
+Very easy to setup (Hint plug it into your router first using the supplied ethernet cable to setup wireless)
Cons
-Very sensitive motion detection
-Sketchy WIFI (However it is along way from my router)
*** updated to 4 stars because customer service have been really good about issuing replacement cameras ***
Been using these a couple of days and have
noticed a few issues.
There are two apps, camhi and camhipro. Both are not complete or fully work. You need to install both to set up the cameras fully. I have 3 IP cameras from this brand that also have different apps. So in total I’m using 4 apps for 5 cameras.
The WiFi is really poor. Unless you are sitting right on top of the router the signal is prone to drop outs.
The viewing angle is distorted. Makes the image look very curved if you have the cameras looking towards something more than 10m away. I wish I had gone with a dome style cam instead of trying to cover the area with two of these.
The onboard UX is web based and outdated, needing browser plugins no longer available, recommend you don’t bother with it. The motion detection can’t do zones or anything clever. It really, really, needs an updated firmware.
If you’re looking for a “fire and forget” camera which will dump to SD when anything moves, this will technically do that, but that’s not its strength.
I used mine as a video source for Agent DVR and it performed flawlessly. Other ONVIF-compatible managers will work just as well. That’s the good thing here: It does industry standards well. It’ll plug into an existing IP surveillance system seamlessly.
The IR LEDs are good for about 5 metres and it switches to IR mode at a sensible light level. The 1080p video stream is reasonably good quality at a stream rate of 8 Mbps, which can be adjusted.
TL;DR: If all you need is a video source for your recording server or surveillance device, this is absolutely perfect. If you need a one-piece solution, keep browsing.
I had 8 of these cameras for several years now. Over that time 2 failed but at the price and the fact they did last several years couldn’t complain so went for the same make again as it would integrate with the same management tool, which despite some criticism I’ve never had any issues with, (apple app over a series of iPad and iPhone)
So I quickly got it setup on Ethernet and went to connect to my Wi-Fi. Incorrect password, tried again, incorrect password. Nothing I did would get the password to be accepted. Activated an old Wi-Fi SSID and it connected straight up. No problems, the only difference was the one that wouldn’t connect was to a dual band router the one that did connect was a 2.4 GHz only. The other difference was the password contained an @.
Once connected I noticed a massive lag between the picture and my movements, which I had not noticed before on the other camera, but I won’t say it’s not there. However for what we need it for that is not an issue and for the price then I can accept a bit of a delay. However for live 2 way communication could cause issues. Picture quality seems ok in both daylight and night vision modes without too much flair from other camera and their infra Red leds.
I have ~50 Wi-Fi items connected and really need to get this on my main network without having to change the main Wi-Fi password. Raised a ticket with ieGeek via Amazon so hopefully will get a positive response and a resolution. Also wondering if this special character issue I’m seeing could be behind the other reported issues around Wi-Fi connectivity. So if you are having Wi-Fi issues it may be worth temporarily changing your password to contain letters and numbers only and no special characters to see if it connects. Then rolling a new password out may be an option for yourself.
Not sure of sound quality yet and that may be another show stopper as we want to review training sessions and be able to hear the trainers comments whilst analysing the visual, however appreciate that’s not a mainstream requirement.
Although the company did not get back to me I managed to add the camera to the main WiFi with the @ in the password. I think it may have been the dual band aspect of the router I was trying to connect to. Where the item is located there is only 2.4GHz available and one WiFi router with a far stronger signal than when I initially tried setting it up.
Also first time of using it for its intended purpose and it’s not brilliant but it does the job and for the price I’m more than happy.
