I have to say, I’m thoroughly impressed with this protective case for my steam deck! It’s a two-in-one combo of TPU and PC material, providing the ultimate defence against drops, scratches, and life in general. The reinforced stand is a lifesaver, allowing me to enjoy hands-free steaming sessions, and the skin fits like a glove. It’s also easy to install and remove.

I particularly love the sleek black and transparent design, which adds a touch of style to my already stylish steam deck. And let’s be real, who doesn’t love a good pun? This case is the “steam” to my “deck”.

In conclusion, this case is a must-have for any steam deck owner looking to improve their comfort and protect their investment. So, sit back, relax, and let the steaming begin!

Good and reasonably priced compared to competitors.

Fits in the official steam deck case, and the Jsaux Dock (but it’s a snug fit in the dock)

Fits well enough except near the L1 and R1. It can rub a bit on your fingers.
Otherwise it’s a good fit. Protects well and the stand is useful while charging

Construction is a tpu/ silicone style feel protective case. Helps stop scratches bumps and wear.
    Overall its a good product.

Having a SteamDeck for a while now, I have wanted a cover for it to keep it relatively safe from mild knocks and scratches and this hard case from ImSteamer certainly fits that requirement.

Inside the package you get the case, a screen protector and a couple of wipes to help the application of the screen protector.

The case is moulded to the shape of the SteamDeck, and goes on relatively easily, covering the sides and back well, whilst still giving access to the cooling fans to dissipate heat, the SD Card slot and the buttons (although I find the power button to be much harder to press now)
The case has a plastic stand attached on the back which feels very flimsy and I am worried that it will break easily although I rarely use that as I hold the SteamDeck in my hand when playing. The stand has little clips that hold it in place by sitting inside holes moulded into the case so if one of these breaks than I guess the stand would be no good.
The screen protector went on flawlessly and so far has been excellent with no difference in touch screen sensitivity
Overall though, a great case for your steam deck

Great SteamDeck case, stand is a little flimsy and power button hard to press

This protective case comes in a retail cardboard box and inside you’ll find the case, glass screen protector, stickers, screen wipe, and a Micro-SD removal tool.

This protector is made from a TPU which is a thermoplastic elastomer which has high durability and flexibility. It has a smooth finish and has a rubber type texture which is easy to grip. On the rear, it has a translucent plastic, which acts as a stand, and also has some carbon fibre effect on the hand grips and along the edges which looks really convincing.

Installing the Steam deck into it is really easy as you place the top of the Steam Deck onto it first and then push down the bottom and it slips into the case. It feels nice in the case and doesn’t feel weird after you’ve got used to the shape of the Steam Deck without one. It is more grippy than the original case and fits the shape well. Even when placing it on a table, the triggers don’t touch the table as the case raises them up to protect them. The stand is a bit of a let down if you have short nails as I couldn’t pull it out as you need to get a nail into the groove to pull it out. I just couldn’t do with short nails but after a lot of faff and trying different things, I final managed to pop it out. The stand works quite well and there is two tabs that simply slip into two holes. There is a row of holes so depending on which holes you slide the tabs in, determines how high the steam deck stands up. The tabs do look a bit small and thin so I’m not sure how they’ll stand up if you put some weight on it. I personally won’t be using the stand though as it’s a faff with short nails.

Tempered glass is my preferred screen protector for any screen as they offer great protection and are really easy to apply without any bubbles. Installation is straight forward as you clean your screen with the wet wipe and dry the screen with a lint free cloth. Peel off the backing sheet from the screen protector and carefully place it central on the screen. It won’t stick so you can lift it and try again if it isn’t completely central. Once in position, tap the centre of the screen protector and it will start to adhere to the screen. As it slowly attaches to the screen, it pushes the air out as it goes and you are left with a perfectly central, and bubble free screen protector installed. You may find you’ll have a little air bubble stuck somewhere and you gently lift the closest corner and push the air bubble towards the edge using the included cloth. I didn’t have any with this protector and it stuck to it first time. This protector is also a full coverage protector, so each edge goes right up to the edge of the screen.

They do include a little wire tool to remove the Micro-SD card as it sits a little deeper when inside the case. You don’t really need it to eject the card though and you can eject it with your nail as usual. But if you have short nails again, you’ll struggle to remove the card as you won’t be able to grip it.

Overall, this is a nice protective case with an added screen protector. Full coverage screen protectors can be expensive and it’s nice to see one included with this case. I’m not usually one for cases but I like this one and I’ll be keeping it on. The only downside I have with it is the case seems to curl up over the two top corners of the deck. I sometimes find that I haven’t pressed the Y button properly because I’ve positioned my thumb a little too high and I’m pressing the case more than the Y button. You do get used to it but that’s an issue I had at first. The case has a cut out for the B button so not to sure why they didn’t do it for Y button, but it could just be me and you’ll be fine with it. A good protective case set for a decent price

A great case set but the stand is a pain to use with short nails...

    Nice tpu cover this.
Fits well and isn’t all bulky.
The incorporated stand is a nice touch.
Haven’t applied the screen protector yet, but didn’t realize it came with one until I opened the box so another nice bonus.
Adds extra grip and stability and feels nice to the touch. All cutouts are spot on for buttons.

While there are undoubtedly better cases out there than the ImSteamer Protective Case for Steam Deck, this comes in at under 20 and manages to be a pretty good option for those on a budget who want some extra protection for their handheld PC.

The case has a hard rubberised surround that clips quite snuggly on to the Steam Deck, it actually takes a bit of force to get it on. The back and top have air holes where the fan and vents are so it prevents the device from heating up, unlike a few of the other cases out there. The back also has a clear plastic section with the middle popping out and forming a stand, which is handy. The stand is very flimsy, though, and I dare say it has a chance of getting broken over time, but it’s handy and can be excused at this price point and it does have the advantage of being able to place it at different angles.

The power and volume buttons have covers for them which do make pressing them a little more effort but they worked fine. The front of the case also comes out a little from the edges but has indents so it doesn’t get in the way of the controls. It won’t protect the front of the machine due to the Deck’s bulging shape at the front, so dropping it may likely still cause some damage if it lands on the front.

Another selling point is that this case fits into the official case of the Steam Deck, while a few others don’t. This sits snugly in the Steam Deck case and it can zip up easily with this on.

Overall, for under 20 this is a decent case with some good positive points to help it when comparing against other similar cases. It’s not perfect but it’s a decent budget option.

A decent budget protective case that fits in the official case

A high quality case that does do the job well. However it does come with a few hang ups.

The stand at the back is little flimsy when pulled out. Does it work, yes. It holds the steam deck up securely, however it only sits in place when folded. There’s no locking system to secure it in place when in use. When unfolded it is vulnerable to being snapped off if pulled unintentionally. I’m not overly concerned as I rarely if ever stand use my deck outside of handheld mode, but it’s food for thought for those who might. When not in use it snaps into the back of the base solidly – something that could weaken the stand over time if taken in and out alot.

Now for the rest of the case. It basically slips over the back of the steam deck, coving the back and side while leaving the front panel more or less uncovered. While I would prefer a faceplate as well, it does effectively protect the decks more vulnerable parts — being the sides.
Getting it on the console can be challenging. The case is snug — snug enough to hold flush to the deck. I managed to get the top part in first and then slip the bottom part over the end corners.

I got a little spooked when I had to push the console into the case and it snapped in. The tpu casing is pretty smooth and unlikely to scratch the casing of the team deck, but it did concern me for a while. Once on though, it looks nice and holds the deck very well. The hole for the buttons and fans are precision cut and perfectly aligned. It is a harder case and would withstand some battering if dropped. It also fits in the steam deck’s case that it came with.

At the time of writing the case with screen protector included costs 20 which is expensive for what it is. With more steam deck accessories coming onto the market, it’s likely other cases will be available as time goes on — hopefully as a cheaper price too.

That said it is a high quality and does do the job.

Hard case that fits snugly without covering buttons or fans – stand is a little flimsy
