Got the white shell and white buttons very happy with purchase.
I like the color of the transparent pink shell. I am so glad it came with buttons to match. It was very fun to take apart. The Video they have on youtube is very helpful. I reccomend this product if you want to modify your GBA SP
Had to get this shell after seeing how gorgeous it was. Took my time to reshell it and was all done. The only issue for me is the joints appear to be aftermarket and the caps won’t fit, so I’ll have to figure something out to cap the joints.
The texture is nice and smooth to the hands. Such a great finish and feel.
Excellent shell, it is super good stylish. It indeed glows in the dark, however if you want to see it’s maximum capacity I recommend using a black light as you will see what I mean. I am experienced in shell swapping all sorts of Nintendo products however if you’re someone who’s doing it for the first time. The tutorial they have on their YT channel is incredibly helpful, I can 100000% vouch for it.
I am not a tech expert. I ordered a replacement case after my original AGS101 fell off a table and the plastic case shattered. I was able to follow their video instructions to replace my shattered case. It wasn’t as fast as the 20 minute video, but if you’re careful and patient, it’s possible to get it done. Godspeed Gamers.

I replaced the shell of my Game Boy SP a few years ago, but I really wasn’t satisfied with the cheap plastic that had ugly seams. This shell is totally different and fits/looks as good as the original Nintendo casing. I got the transparent blue version and it looks awesome.
For newbies, make sure you watch the tutorials and read the iFixit guides, because there are a few tricky spots. No soldering is required though, so it’s a great intermediate project.

I have ordered multiple products from eXtremeRate over the years, and have come to expect a few things from all of their products: a signature ‘soft’ feel, high quality materials, included tools/spare parts, and most of all, STELLAR customer service. My experience with this product was yet another example of why eXtremeRate is the best at what they do. If you want to upgrade your GBA SP with an aftermarket shell: look no further.
As mentioned before, the shell has a very ‘soft’ matte feel to it (as opposed to what I can only describe as a ‘squeaky’ feeling from OEM plastic surfaces). I honestly prefer this shell to the original; the quality is THAT top-notch. eXtremeRate made sure to include every piece necessary for a full shell replacement, including hinge caps and screen bumpers in matching colors and even a reproduction label for a fun individual design. This is a complete package if you want to overhaul your SP’s look and feel. I paired this shell with an IPS screen and it looks phenomenal.
Upon initial installation, I faced some difficulties with the battery cover (be careful; it is a VERY snug fit). In doing so, I noticed a small defect in that one piece and eXtremeRate was more than happy to send me a full replacement with express shipping. That kind of customer service is why I will always purchase their products.
All in all, I could not be more satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend both this product and eXtremeRate as a seller. I don’t think anyone does aftermarket shells better than them.
El pequeo pero es que el set no incluye los mecanismos que determinan la posicin de la pantalla, van dentro de las bisagras. Esto me extraa ya qu suelen incluir tornillos, alambritos de ms, es lo nico que no incluyen y se deben usar las qu ya uno tenga de la carcasa previa.

The shell looks great and has a nice feel to it. I reused some of the OEM buttons because I prefer their feel over the ones provided with the shell. I recommend using the OEM springs and rods for the bumper buttons as well. There were a few blemishes and spurs on some of the plastic pieces but nothing that affected the usability of the shell.
The construction is excellent. They are well molded with no excess plastic to shave off or trim. I’ve always been a fan of soft touch plastic for devices like this. It’s just more enjoyable to hold, and even nice to brush your finger across. So you can have fun petting your little nugget, rewarding it for 20 years of loyalty and service.
Overall I think this is great. My old case was showing the 2 decades of wear on it, this new one is crisp and clean. This kit comes with everything you need to swap the electronics from the old case to this new one, with the exception of the shoulder joints, which the video shows you how to easily transfer over. It even comes with new rubber spring pads for the buttons. On the note of buttons, Nintendo did you a solid here, and made it impossible to put the wrong button in the wrong place, so no worries there.
It should be noted that this does not come with a spot for the Nintendo badge on the top lid, and it comes with an eXtremeRate branded label for the bottom. This wasn’t an issue for me, personally. Removing the badge gives it a cleaner look, and if I was concerned about keeping the collection value of it intact, I wouldn’t have swapped out the OEM case in the first place. You can get replacement OEM stickers for the bottom online, if you really wanted that. This nugget is mine, and this case has added personal value, fun, and comfort to it.
Not a bad shell. It has a different feel than the original as it’s more of matt finish as opposed to slick plastic, this being said it still feels just as quality and if anything has less of the sticky feeling that the original can have.
Coque extrem race identique la coque Nintendo. La coque s’assemble facilement et elle est trs belle ! J ai choisi en plus de la coque un kit de touches extrem race bleue car la console aurait trop blanche et le rendu final zst top (coque et touches fournies !!!) !

slight scratches on the finish when it arrived.
Did not come with gold hinge caps, I used the extra pads to cover the hinge post. Not as clean as it could be.
Still worth it.
First case I received had a slight warp to the top shell, nothing major and the shell was still usable but had some very small gaps between top shell and screen bezel.
I contacted customer support about the issue and they were very helpful and responded quickly. Sent me a new shell free of charge. Second shell I received looks perfect.

Overall I am very happy with the case. I would have rated 4 stars for the first unit I got as warping issue is pretty minor once the case is fully assembled, you would not notice it much. Rated 5 stars for fantastic customer support to fix the issue and replacement had no warp at all. Highly recommend this shell for a unique looking SP build.

Honestly it’s the closest you will get to OEM out of all other solid color shells I’ve had.

Questa l unica Shell che mi piaciuta, alta qualit della plastica e tutto si monta in modo corretto senza problemi. Non servono istruzioni di montaggio, chi sbaglia a mettere le viti solo colpa sua, basta ricordare la posizione di quest’ultime e rimetterle durante il montaggio. Anzi possibilmente sarebbe meglio utilizzare le viti originali, cos eviti ulteriori problemi. La scocca arriva con gi tutto, a parte le cerniere, ma si possono usare le originali. Ho provato marche pi blasonate tipo retrosix, ma sono rimasto molto deluso dalla qualit, era quasi meglio la cinese che ho preso su un altro noto attore. Questa mi ha veramente sorpreso, se volete ovviamente la perfezione assoluta, l originale il top.. ma questa ci va veramente vicino a parere mio.
Amazing product! Bunch of tiny pieces so be careful. They could’ve been separated better but it is what it is. Mine also if you notice in the first picture that it only came with the top 2 rubber stops. I had to reuse the old red ones because it did not come with them. That was my only gripe really. Other than that it feels great holding it in my hands and the material is super comfortable and nice.
The feel and look of these are about as good as OEM, all the rest on the market are brittle and poorly molded. Knocking a star for the included screws which were soft as cheese and could be a stripping hazard.
Had to trim the plastic maybe half an inch just to get the ips motherboard to fit but it feels decent, and looks grea
Relatively easy to put together if you watch their tutorial on youtube. The screws are a little difficult to identify due to being all thrown into one bag. The quality is pretty good, better than the cheap housing you can buy, but certainly not the same quality or texture as the oem shells (this is to be expected with any aftermarket housing). The color effect on the chameleon shell is really cool, I do wish it came in more colors though!! Overall a great product. A bit too pricey in my opinion.
One downside of the shell texture is that it attracts fingerprints.
Also, I used oem silicone pads in mine. It’s recommended to use those instead of the ones provided as they are better quality.
This was surprisingly easy to do. The hinge was abit finicky with how you have to role up the ribbon cable but other than that everything was good. I would say be careful when screwing in the screw’s because I have managed to crack the shell through over tightening. So when screwing in keep an eye on both sides of the shell so you don’t make the same mistake I did!
This is an awesome quality aftermarket shell, feels great in the hands, it’s soft but sturdy. I like this shell much more than other SP aftermarket shells (which are usually very lackluster and feel super cheap). This shell kits includes everything you will need to make a shell swap (except obviously a motherboard ), including a label/back sticker. A negative is that the matte finish is prone to show finger prints. I love this shell, I just wish it was less pricey.
Product was what i expected and made my Gameboy look brand new from its old worn out orignal grey shell it came with! 😀

However, you will still have to trim the case to use an IPS screen. You will have to trim the side section to about 2x it’s size to accommodate the chipset that the IPS screen comes with.
Otherwise it would be five stars, but loses a star since you still have to trim.
The shell is amazing, it looks so clean and new. I got the blue/purple one and it looks amazing!
The shell fit with my new IPS panel perfectly and it feels like I have a brand new gameboy.
The kit comes with everything you need to replace the shell and had plenty of spares like screws. I could be wrong but it seemed like they included enough screws to make your whole gameboy either phillips headscrews or tri-wing screws but I just replaced the screws same order and type as my original case.
Two things to watch out for, when replacing your shell make sure you watch their video on youtube about how to replace the volume slider as I almost broke mine, the other thing is the shell is not very scratch resistant.
When you are assembling the kit make sure you rest it on something soft as I briefly put mine on the desk and it got some minor scratches, you have to look to find them but still.
Overall I am super happy with this kit and would highly recommend.
For anyone new to modding like I am the shell kit doesn’t come with display hinges you would need to pop out and use your original ones or buy a new set. I’d recommend buying new ones be sure it’s very hard to clear old one.
This product goes to show just how well a company can make a recreation of another product if they put some effort into it. Firstly, the video instructions are very good, showing you step by step just how to pull apart and rebuild the GBA SP.
The purple shell is a high gloss replacement that fits together perfectly, and looks absolutely stunning. You get every piece bar the hinges, and quite often you’ll get some extra pieces, just in case you lose one. You also get two screwdrivers, so there’s no hunting around for a Tri-wing and 00 philips head.
My only minor gripe is the instructional video doesn’t show you which screws you should use in each spot, and many of them are quite similar. So when disassembling your GBA SP, keep the screws in sections and you shouldn’t have a problem.
It would be nice to see the Nintendo Logo slot provided, for those people who want things to look as original as possible.
Definitely one to buy if you want to make your GBA SP look as good (or better) than new.

nico ponto negativo: Vem sem a dobradia, o que complicado de ser removida da carcaa antiga ou se a sua tiver quebrado, no h como substituir. Por isso 4 estrelas e no 5.

eXtremeRate seems to have their own unique molds, for both the shell and buttons. (the witness marks being in in different places, and lack of branding, are obvious tells) The molding seems well done with fine and straight lettering, everything fits perfectly with no creaking, no gaps, no sharp edges on the shell.
The plastic feels thicker and stronger then the no name transparent shells. Time will tell if that makes a difference, but eXtreme rate seems to know a thing or two about making aftermarket shells for controllers so. I haven’t tried their opaque shells but I imagine they use the same molds. I will go out on a limb and say, as of 2022, these are the highest quality SP aftermarket shells.
I hope eXtreme rate adds more colors. Right now I’m using “Atomic Purple”. I personally wouldn’t describe it as that, since its not really that close to the OG GBC color, its a warmer purple.
But it is a really nice shade of purple. If there ever was a “Pokemon Amethyst” THIS would 100% be the cartridge color.
Some minor criticisms though:
Screws: They could have been better organized and packaged in a resealable bag. With the amount of extras its slightly hard to tell what goes with what. – I also feel since this shell isn’t pretending to be original, there isn’t really a good reason to use Triwing screws. It really could have been all Phillips/JIS and that would have been fine.
Also the screw on the battery door does not have a captive ring.
Springs: The Shoulder springs are weak. I don’t recommend using them unless you have to…
Buttons: I can’t help but feel its kinda tacky they come with buttons of the same color as the shell? But maybe thats just me. They aren’t as good as originals, and they seem to be copying other aftermarket buttons – meaning the middle post is flat. Their remedy for the wiggle this causes is that the silicon pads are thicker, and while this works, the buttons again just don’t feel as good as originals.
EDIT: Slate compatibility.
There is some minor incompatibilities between this shell and the ‘Slate’ Mod. It seems like the screw holes are in slightly different places (off by < 1mm maybe?) and the shell it's self might be slightly off? Unless your mixing and matching eXtreme rate shell parts with other shell parts, this won't affect you so.
Ich wollte meinen Gameboy Advance SP auf ein IPS v2 Display umrsten. Da fhrte aufgrund der guten Erfahrungen mit ExtremeRate, kein Weg an einem Gehuse dieser Firma vorbei.
Das Gehuse ist super verarbeitet und fhlt sich sehr angenehm an. Es ist IPS ready, dass heisst es sind Frsungen fr ein Custom Display bereits enthalten.
Leider ist es nicht so einfach an ein solches Display zu kommen und man muss es letztendlich aus China ordern.
Einen Stern muss ich leider abziehen, da die Scharniere nicht mit dabei sind. Diese gehen beim Ausbau mit sehr hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit kaputt und somit musste auch ich diese separat ordern.
Alles in allem bin ich mit dem Set hchst zufrieden.
Por ltimo solo decir que yo no le he puesto la pegatina trasera que incluye el fabricante, donde pone el nmero de serie en la carcasa original, de esta forma el look transparente queda ms “redondo” con el puntazo de que se puede ver perfectamente el juego al que ests jugando .
No descarto comprar en otros colores para ir probando cuando me aburra.
This shell feels really good, fits excellently like the OEM gameboy shell, and the instructional video they have on their YouTube channel is very well made. However on mine, the color coating (which seems to be sprayed on) did not have good coverage on my hinge cover plate. I plan to order another product from them so I may see if I can get a replacement for just that bit, I hate to buy a whole new case for something I frankly don’t care about that much. Other than that, the only nitpick I have is the fact that it doesn’t have a spot for a Nintendo logo sticke
