Very bright but the battery doesn’t last a whole night, not the best for long camping trips

Very useful – and effective. A torch/lantern that can act as a nightlight, a safety lantern, or a torch. It charges quickly, and holds that charge for quite sometime.
The lights are good and bright, and adjusted with a simple click of the button.
Also an option is a red light – either flashing or static – perfect for any emergency.
Well packaged, good quality, great value and highly recommended. A great choice.

Got this as a back-up in-case of any power cuts this winter. Seems a good all rounder for both home and car. Will be taking it with us on long car journeys as well. Lights can be set at High or Low & there is a red emergency light as well. Would recommend.

Well made camping lantern charged via micro usb. It takes 5 hours to charge from flat but does arrive partly charged. The charge lasts 3 1/2 hours (on constantly).
A hook for hanging up and two brightness levels and red/red flashing.
Its lightweight and very easy to carry and all the modes are accessed via one button (you have to scroll though) but in the dark this makes life easier. It also has a USB within the light to charge phones iPads etc. It is also waterproof.
For 17 I think a worthy investment. I got this to review and use in case of a power cut being able to charge my phone and light up the kitchen to boil some water for coffee is perfect !
    5 stars

This for me, is a brilliant torch.
    Brilliant for taking camping.
Ideal for use in the garage.
Superb for use in the loft space.
It charges via a usb, so no batteries needed.
    The brightness is fantastic.
    Don’t hesitate. Get this torch.

A fairly well made, multi-function torch. It has just one button for all its function, so you have to work your way through all the modes to find the right one for you. As a torch, it’s pretty good, though with only 230lm at the higher setting, it’s a little limited. Charging time is 5 hours via a USB micro (an odd choice) and it also has a USB-A output. Overall it’s a decent little item and pretty good value at just 14 at time of writing.

This was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a lantern to hang in a tent for camping and also wanted a power-bank facility to charge my mobile devices if needed. This lantern meets both requirements as well as making a very decent torch. It’s a good chunky size, not really suited to back-packing but great if size/weight (350g) are not critical. The large handle makes it comfortable to hold as a torch. It has a flat base and top so it can be placed either way up with good stability on a surface for use as a lantern. It also comes with an S-shaped hook which can be attached to folding steel loop in the base and used to hang the lantern from higher up if a suitable attachment point is available. Used as either a torch or a lantern the light is very bright. A push switch cycles through the various options available — a high or low power setting for each option. There is also a red light setting, useful either as a warning or to avoid dazzling eyes e.g when stargazing or night sailing or other activity requiring night vision. The red light can also be set to flashing mode to attract attention or give warning.

The lamp comes with a USB charging cord which can be used either for charging the lantern from a suitable USB power source or to charge another USB device using the lantern battery as a power bank.

According to the instructions which accompany the lamp, full charging time is 5 hours and discharge time 3.5 hours. Using the lantern at full power I managed a similar time but the lamp does dim considerably as the battery runs down, which is to be expected. The mode switch illuminates red when the battery charge is low.
During charging, the mode switch glows green when fully charged.

At around three hours usage at full power you need to plan how to manage the time – you are not going to be reading novels by the light every evening without recharging or using the lower power setting. For shorter periods of use though with occasional charging it’s very adequate.

This is a handy piece of kit to keep in the car boot when not in use for camping or other situations requiring a portable light.

It is a good looking, well-designed package at a reasonable cost and “does what it says on the tin”.

This multi-functional camping lantern by Lovcoyo offers quite a lot of features for the price — currently around fourteen pounds from Amazon — but is showing it’s age a bit as it still uses a micro-USB instead of the more modern USB-C for charging. This HC-261 model features a Cree T6 LED for it’s main torch beam which has two brightness levels. There is also a 360 lantern function with two white brightness levels, plus static red and emergency flashing red — there is a single push button to switch on/off and toggle through the various lighting modes. This model is IP65 waterproof and can double up as an emergency 1000mAh power bank to charge your phone, and has a handle when used as a torch and a hanging loop with detachable carabinier for use in a tent etc. A decent enough camping lantern at the price — four stars.

I really like this lantern. It is portable and lightweight, but it does have a sturdiness to it. It is rechargeable by way of a USB-A cable, and takes around 5 hours to fully charge. It has two handles, so you can carry it as a regular torch or hang it as a lantern, and there is a two-way hook provided to assist with that. The black and yellow livery not only looks smart, but makes this easy to see when it’s in the boot of the car or at the back of a cupboard. There is a choice of lights, so you can have a forward-facing light, such as a regular torch with high and low modes, or as a lantern with 360 light, which is again high or low modes. You also have the choice of a steady or a flashing red light, as an SOS signal.

The lantern can also be used as power bank, and I would usually say that I would only use that as an emergency backup, but this performed very well indeed, charging my phone and still having enough juice to use the light for quite a while. It has an IP65 rating, so it’s water resistant, and I think it’s robust enough to survive a few bumps along the way.

At the time of writing this review, the cost is 16.99, which is really good value for what you get.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis compact camping lantern-cum-torch is very lightweight and versatile. The construction feels pretty solid and robust. It has a big, easy-to-grip handle, if you want to carry it as a torch, or it stands solidly on the base if you want to use it as a lantern standing in a table or the floor, etc. It’s also has a fold-out metal piece at the top which you can use to hang it from something – the also include a like S-clip that will make hanging onto something easier and more secure. It comes with the charging cable and a little instruction booklet.
The torch operates from a single push-button. One push turns the torch in to its brighter setting; this is nod as bright as one of those tactical ‘million candlepower torches’ but is still pretty bright. Next push switches the torch to a dimmer setting. Next push turns the torch off and lights the panels on the side at their brighter setting, for its lantern function, where you’d stand it on the torch face. Next push switches the lantern to a dimmer setting (for some reason in my video, this setting appears to be flashing but that is just some anomaly of the photography, it is actually a solid light). Next push changes the lantern to red light and the next makes the red light flash (presumably for hazard warning, etc.). Next push turns it off again.
The charging port has a silicone rubber press-in cover to keep it waterproof in the elements. Under this cover is not only the USB-c socket for recharging the torch but also a standard USB socket from where you can tap into the torches power to recharge your phone or whatever in an emergency. The charging lead has a USB plug on so you can charge the lantern from the mains (with an adapter), your car, laptop, powerbank, etc.
My one criticism of the design, and I’ve seen the same thing in other torches, is the one-button control. If you’ve been using the torch function and you want to turn it off again, you can’t just do that – you have to cycle through two settings of the lantern, then the red lights and then the flashing red light! Irritating.
I’m not suggesting I’m going to be using the torch for burglary or espionage but supposing for instance you wanted to look quietly in the tent for something when the kids were asleep and you didn’t want to disturb them. So you set the torch to its dimmest and creep into the tent but then one is the kids stirs – you turn the torch off quick so as not to wake them. But it didn’t turn off – to turn in the bright lantern and then even fishing red lights – not helpful!
Ok, so I’m not saying that is a deal breaker but, personally, I’d prefer one simple on/off button and a separate control to select the lighting function. But it’s still a really good torch/lantern.

    Compact, lightweight, versatile torch/lante

It’s a great small size that provides a lot of light, and is lightweight, ideal for placing in a dimly lit bedroom during a power outage or being able to illuminate a walk to the bathroom.
It’s light, not as big as I’d like, but the brightness is what I expected.
Easy to charge. It provides good brightness as a flashlight and lamp and can also be hung as a ceiling light.
It has Uplight+ and Downlight. Uplight+ and Downlight are classified from the perspective of suspension. Downlight is two kinds of brightness, strong white light and weak white light. There are two kinds of white lights and two kinds of red lights. Red and flashing red lights are bright warning lights in the dark.

This light has quite a short listed time for battery life but that must be on it’s brightest setting.
I set it to the medium level camping light mode which is what I would use if in a tent and after 8 hours I had to switch it off as it was still going!
It has a spotlight and the camping light along with a red light for emergencies.
A shame it uses USB micro and not USB C and it does take quite a while to charge but for the amount of time it lasts this is worth it.

Much better battery time than expected

This is a decent basic torch/lantern combo – switches between bright and dimmer torch, then bright and dimmer white lantern, then red and flashing red lantern. The lantern gives more than enough light for use in a tent or similar (in my case for use in a boat cockpit with the canopy over at night, which is a bit like a tent I suppose). Has a hanging loop, plus you get a separate S hook with carabiner clip fittings so you can clip one end to the lantern’s loop and hook the other end onto something else.

A little annoying to say the least that the charging port is USB micro rather than USB C – a USB A to USB micro cable is included, which actually has a decent length unlike the pitifully short ones often included with gadgets. It also has a USB A out port so that you can use the battery to charge a phone if necessary (though given everyone has phones with USB C ports these days, the included cable isn’t much use for that).

This multi-mode LED camping lantern is supplied in a neat recyclable box and comes with a USB to micro USB charging cable, instructions and a useful hook for hanging it up in a tent. It may be used as a torch, which has two levels of brightness or a lamp with two brightness levels of white light plus red and flashing red lights. It is well made and sturdy but it is also light and easy to carry. It would be ideal for those necessary night time trips on a campsite but can then be used to light the tent. It would equally serve a range of purposes for a variety of outdoor pursuits. I wanted mine to help guard against winter power outages in our rural retreat but I will also be using it next summer when out in the wilds.

The battery takes between 3 and 5 hours to fully charge depending on it level of depletion. I have been able to charge it using the mains and a solar panel and so it could prove to be energy efficient. It is bright enough to illuminate a large sized room and may be used for reading and the like. It may end up illuminating the stairs and landing so that we save by not using the main lights. It may also function as a power bank and has a standard USB output socket for phones, tablets, laptops and so on. With around 1000mAh on tap the product details suggest it will power a device for up to 3 and a half hours.

The lantern is waterproof and versatile. The red flashing warning light could help summon help or get you noticed on the roadside. The lamp could for example be kept in the car and recharged (while the car is in use) using a USB adapter that plugs into the cars power outlet socket. However, it may drain the car’s battery if you leave it plugged in while the engine is off.

This lantern is very reasonably priced for what you get. It should last the test of time and is flexible enough to cope with most applications. I think it is excellent and I am happy to recommend it.

Well priced, sturdy, light and bright - an excellent lamp

It may stand at just over two Granny Smith apples tall but this wee lantern is pretty impressive, especially when you consider the main torch light is only one 5w LED and the lantern body is 3w.

I needed a torch that I could use to tend to my rabbits at the bottom of the garden now that the nights are drawing in and this one seemed a good option, especially as it is also a lantern – allowing me to have steady light once I’m in the rabbit enclosure too.

The torch has two levels of intensity and the lantern also has two levels for the cool white, one for the solid red and also a flashing distress in red as well.

In the box, you get the lamp itself and a usb charging cable. The lamp turned up with what appears to be a full charge and it’ll be interesting to see how close to the 3.5 hours of life, as stated on the box, it gives. I’ve had it on for around 2 hours – on and off – at the time of writing this.

A really nice addition to my little arsenal of handy gadgets for use in the house should things go wrong and also out on the road or in the wilds of Norfolk

    Size definitely isn’t everything…

I’ve been camping for many years. Found that past light either drains the battery, or the battery is excellent but the light is dim.

This light is amazing! You can charge for one! Power is crazy! Great beam and fills the tent with light.

I’ve not used the charger port for the phone, as this would reduce the battery light, but it is a great added feature.
