The b550 is compact and well built, it’s also now my desktop replacement pc that can also pack a gaming punch.
The Ryzen APU is more responsive than my i7 10750h gaming laptop. No bloatware in the installed windows11 pro OS. However I haven’t used the supplied GPU dock as yet. Do check out the reviews on YouTube. In my opinion a good value and very quite you can’t even tell it’s on except for it blue light.

I had been using a Lenovo laptop for years as my main computer and it was struggling with everything, it couldn’t play 4k movies and was very slow. I needed a new computer so thought I’d give this one a go as it appeared to have the specs I needed. I have put it through its paces and it seems to have handled everything I have thrown at it with ease so far. I was initially going to replace the 500gb ssd with 2 5tb ssd and replace the 32gb ram with 64gb ram but to be honest I don’t think I will need to at least not for a few years anyway. I was paying for 1gb internet speed but couldnt understand despite all the tests why I was only getting 150mb and came to the conclusion the laptop couldnt cope as it was old technology. After pluging my ethernet into this boom 1150gb speed! The only complaint I can come up with so far is when I play any kind of video be it a downloaded one or a YouTube video it has very tiny white pin prick effect in the background, this of course could be to do with Windows 11 or the hdmi cable from the pc to my tv I have no idea at the moment but am looking into it. I think this is a great small sized pc and very powerful and future proof. I am happy with my purchase and would recommend.

Yeah decent machine, love the DP and HDMI connectivity. Fast enough for general use PCing and mid-level gaming which is all I use it for.
Even playing football manager 2022 is making the fan buzz like a cheap laptop so I don’t know what would happen with a FPS game like call of duty or battlefield!

I bought it 3 months ago and have ALMOST got it how I want it.

I have not noticed any heat issues even though I bought it in July, I am HOH so maybe I just cannot hear the fan.

    CONNECTIVITY
    4 display ports – spectacular.
    1 ethernet – fast enough.
USB… I thought 6 USB ports was good – no.
REAR ports – one for USB hub – HDDs and USB sticks, one for monitor link, others for printer and label printer.
I am planning a UPS ASAP which will take up the last USB A port leaving just the USB C – these two at the front.

Trouble getting my printer working via ethernet so am sticking with USB for now.

Using with a Dell S3221QS monitor via Display Port, perixx keyboard and kensington trackball connected via monitor.

Bluetooth for speakers / peripherals works just fine.

It can hang and crash a lot, but it comes with Windows 11 Pro which by all accounts is temperamental.

GAMES issue – because it uses integrated graphics, Microsoft Store will not recommend many games indeed when I tried a couple it was a disaster.

I am using external drives rather than adding internals – 3 for a RAID array and a 4th as main backup; memory stick as recovery drive.

For a PC it is quite impressive and does almost everything I want, its limitations are software and limited USB ports – could do with twice as many, but would need a new USB board for that.
Obviously as it is NOT a tower – conventional expansion is not an option.

The processor was rated as road runner for non gaming and it seems to be.
32GB RAM handles pretty much everything, but programs still crash – especially Edge Browser – seems to be the best with W 11 Pro, Firefox is useless and Chrome a PITA.
Don’t bother with built in email client.

Running OEM software for Kensington, Dell, Phomemo, Brother and Libre / Open Office – some issues, but basically Windows 11 Pro again.

Ethernet is speedy – only using it for router at the moment, still planning to set up the Brother MFC-J4540DW on the network to free up a USB port once I can get the software installed correctly.

TP Link hub & 4G router – work fine but I use AVG VPN so temperamental.

All in all, expensive but small footprint – it lives on its stand so no bigger footprint than my USB hub, cables take up more space than the CPU, don’t they always.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m not a gamer so can’t rate it on that.
I do some graphics using GIMP 2 and really smooth and quick.
Using for data analysis on large multiple linked spreadsheets and data base and this pc is an absolute beast in performance and whisper quiet, not totally silent but almost. Well worth to deal price.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI thought it was time I replaced two custom built tower PCs. They were so highly specified originally that they still worked fine after 12 years but I thought I should not push my luck. I wnet down the Mini PC route 4 years ago when I bought a little intel i3 KODLIX mini PC for web streaming to a wide screen tv. I don’t play computer games but I do a lot of cpu-intensive HD and UHD video re-encoding. This highly-specified Ryzen 9 mini PC looked suitable so I cautiously bought one “on-spec” two months ago. Delivery by Amazon was next day, though I am not a Prime member. I found it straightforward to add extra 2.5″ internal SSDs, aided by the helpful video provided by the seller. This quasi paperback-sized Mini PC feels heavy and looks solidly built. The plastic case is clearly strong and unobtrusive; it is quite irrelevant to me how much carbon fibre it actually contains.

The vertically mounted computer is almost silent, except when the fan racks up for cpu-intensive processing, when it throws out a surprising amount of hot air. This indicates that the relatively “state of the art” liquid metal cooling does facilitate excellent heat transfer. Video processing is as fast as one would expect of an 8 core Ryzen 9 chip. The integral graphic processor in the chip works fine with my single 4K monitor and external usb3 blue ray disc drive / recorder. This is a fast machine. What is not fast is the tedious business of reloading software onto windows, a problem of Microsoft not the machine.
Value for money, particularly if you get a good voucher deal, is excellent. I have no experience using the machine for gaming nor have I needed to contact the seller, so I have not rated those items.

Perhaps the best recommendation is that I was sufficiently impressed with the machine that a few weeks later I bought one for my wife. I would have preferred to buy her a more “goof-proof” MiniMac with M1 chip, not that much more expensive. However she is addicted to a particular legacy piece of Microsoft software which, to my surprise, still runs fine on Windows 11.

I rarely write Amazon reviews and it is early days yet, but two happy users of the Minisforum Ryzen 5900HX MiniPC here!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWhy would a retailer sell a new computer, that can not be used out of the box.
Upon starting up the computer for the first time, you go though the usual installation process, until it demands an miratechcorp email address to continue.
    Initially disappointed.
However customer support provided the following solution – WHY this was not a note in with the product is beyond me, but SOLVED.

Initial setup difficult as it requires a miratechcorp email address. - Resolved

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersNeeded to replace a now ancient Tower PC, ok no Optical Drives (who needs them), no SD Card reader (who needs them).
Certainly powerful and fast – if there is a fault it could do with a larger C Drive SSD (I cloned it and replaced it with a 1TB). Space for two internal SSD/2.5 hard drives. Quiet, small footprint, enough USB A and C ports.
So far, so good – time will tell but v happy with my purchase, although pricey its the best I could find for my use and it is Windows 11 Pro.

Having experienced slow and troublesome video editing on my surface pro, took plunge to invest into this little powerhouse of a machine. Has turned my woes to joy as this beauty laughs in the face of high 4k footage and promptly works away in my edit suite with no issues at all. So compact as well hardly taking any space up in my small office – delighted with this!

Not a tech expert as such, but having shopped around for a computer, nothing comes close to this spec for this price. Machine works absolutely fine, and is super fast.

Very compact unit measuring DMS 190cm x 190cm x 60cm and good looking to boot.. Powerful CPU with good cooling due to case design which also lends itself to easy DIY upgrade access to memory and HD components.
Very quiet in use, and so far… has stayed cool during use over a single 24hours of use of BOINC projects mixed with video UHD viewing from the DIY HD upgrade.

On a personal note: Screws were changed – on a previous review request – from Torx to X head?
If possible, add to Torx screw as extra’s or, allow replacement Torx screw set via purchase?

In a nut shell: A well designed quality item at a very good price point.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAs someone who does a lot of working from home, space is at a premium on my desk so have always preferred Mini-PC’s. Previously I had a Beelink GT-R which although I had for nearly 2 years before it gave up the ghost in the recent heatwave, was very noisy 90% of the time with its fan constantly running at high speed.

So far the HX90 is absolutely silent 95% of the time and only cranks up its very quiet fan when it needs some extra processing power, vary rare so far. I believe this is largely due to the liquid metal cooling it possesses in conjunction with its secondary fans.

In terms of performance, for the money, this is a superb little machine. Packed with a high-end AMD Ryzen 9 processor and 32 GB of memory. By far the most powerful mini-pc I have owned and not a lot more in terms of price compared to my previous Beelink AMD Ryzen 5, 16 GB mini-pc.

I added an extra Samsung Evo850 2TB 2.5″ SSD drive which was a piece of cake (5 min job) with space for an additional 2.5″ HDD/SSD if I want it.

Fantastic value for money for what you get and the thing is lightening quick at both bootup and during general day-to-day use.. The HX90 comes with Windows 11 Pro ready for you to tailor to your needs on the first boot. Highly recommended and glad I did my research to find this little bad boy.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our Users5 USB 3.0 ports not really enough. Keyboard, mouse, external backup drive, printer, DVD drive leaves nothing for plugging in a memory stick. Buy a 4 or 5 adapter preferably with a card reader.
I use it for everything. A speedy little PC. I put an extra 1.0 Tb and 500 Gb drives in mine.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersGreat little PC, simple to use/set up, silent, and bloody powerful. Upgrade wise it’s even easier use, I ordered an extra internal SSD and fitted withing 5 minutes, it found it without a problem, and there is still a slot for another one if you wanted to add more. Connects to wireless/bluetooth stuff within seconds and has yet to drop out one. Runs pretty much all emulators to a very high standard. I’m not using it for PC gaming but I reckon it could hold it’s own on midrange stuff, I’ve seen a YouTube vid where someone attached an external GPU that worked.

Gotta add that Minisforum PC’s were outstanding after a few issues with another PC I ordered. Long story short, there was an issue with it but they took the return and still applied the Amazon Prime day discount price when I reordered. After this, an Amazon delivery driver (a chancer) delivered a bag of flour (I’m not making this up) instead of the PC, by the time I got the refund sorted? The PC was out of stock, and was not returning. Minisforum PCs were kind enough to allow me a voucher to buy this (better) PC at a discount.

Great PC and great seller (not Amazon, dodgy driver delivering a bag of flour)

Best specs for size and price, brilliant company

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA fantastic Powerful Mini PC, I’ve since bought another one, and thinking of a 3rd too when they come back in stock.

The pop up lid is a fantastic idea and can access the RAM and SSD for upgrades if needed.

Had a small problem with 1 of the rear USB sockets which was sorted promptly via email to the seller.

I wished I had invested in these little machines years ago. The amount of money saved from electric would be massive compared to my big beast of a box I’ve been running for years.

    Highly recommended

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis was as easy as anything to set up and get running. It is very compact and neat. Minor niggle is that it doesn’t firmly clip into its holding base and can topple out if knocked – this could be improved. It is utterly silent and does not seem to get over hot.
At first when I ran some benchmark programs it implied that it was not as good as the components inside made it – However, I looked into the AMD directory and found drivers that when installed greatly improved the performance well above the expected percentile (95%). This is a super-fast computer and I am delighted with it. A card reader would have been useful, and it should have added the drivers without me asking it! – Nearly lost a star for this and its holder but the performance wins out in the end.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe machine wouldn’t turn on again after we initially set it up and we discovered the power supply was the issue as it booted fine with a different power pack (of the same voltage but higher wattage).

Waiting for a replacement power pack so haven’t used the machine yet, will update when we have.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersNow this is extremely well executed mini PC in the way that it’s surprising how much you can actually fit into such a small unit whilst also making what would look to be a simple square box actually be kind of intriguing

First off the case itself has a spring loaded opening on the top which when pressed down pulls up and clips out in order to reveal the memory slotted inside as well as access to most of the ports etc. It is vented so that cold air is pulled down through the top and sides then evacuated through the bottom via a fan which takes up basically the whole of the bottom of the unit itself, the case only being about 130mm2 means that all this has been fit into a very compact unit.

With regard to ports you’ve got plenty of them that is a place for a few ports on the front as well as on the back the back contains 2 USB ports as well as a HDMI port, a DP port, an Ethernet port as well as the power input socket whereas the front has easy access for a usbc, a USB3 x2, a headphone Jack as well as the power button and a reset hole. That’s a surprising amount for such a tiny surface.

So so far it looks like after having it set up and running for a couple of weeks are can say that there are no issues with the specs at all they do match up with what’s on the description and it runs just as smoothly as you would expect a mini PC of this standard to do so.

    Well executed

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased this as my 6 month old Laptop had to go away for repair and needed something suitable to Work From Home.
I found the product easy to set up and configure.
I was concerned due to size it would overheat – So far no sign of that.
I have used this for 3 full days = 9 hours each day running a Citrix VPN session into work, running multiple Remote Desktop sessions and MicroSoft Teams meetings.
So far no connection issues, no drop outs in Teams and No re-connects on the VPN

I do not use this product for gaming so cannot offer an opinion on that but for general business use I have no complaints whatsoeve

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a great little computer with plenty of usb ports and HDMI and DP ports. Great processor and plenty of ram to run Windows 11.
Unfortunately mine is faulty with a sound problem. so can’t say much more. Did contact manufacturer support got one email from them and then nothing else even though I emailed them again,
I can only give it 4 stars due to sound problem. Will ask for replacement. Have to reorder as no provision replacement on Amazon. Amazon picking up faulty unit and manufacturer appologised for inconvenience caused. Second pc absolutely fine
