The product is great for the price, it has sufficient functionality and pretty easy to use. If your are not too concerned about pixelation, you’ll be happy with it. I think it is a good product for presentations and family movie nights. After all I will say for the price point, functionality and portability it’s worth the investment.
Bought this projector for our Europe trip in a few weeks but thought to test it out first! The picture is very clear once adjusted (ignore poor camera quality)! Sound comes from the projector which is nice and loud! Option to connect to Bluetooth which can be a speaker! HDMI port for firestick worked amazing!
No concerns whatsoever with this!
I bought this for a specific reason – I wanted to take a photograph on my iPhone – in this case maps – and shine it on some paper where I can make my own and superimpose it on drawings . Ir would be equally useful for arts and crafts or shining patterns on cloth.
The problem with many projectors is that the minimum distance between the lens and the screen is too big but in this mini-projector it is wonderful. A focussing dial on the side ensures a good image at a distance of around 2 ft.
I have found it works very well for this applicatio
I have been really impressed with this little projector so far. For the size of it the picture is impressively bright and detailed actually – far better than I expected to be totally honest. Even in a reasonably well lit room the picture is very usable for presentations etc and allows films to be shown in a perfectly watchable way but as with most projectors really does benefit from a darkened room at which point it really does come into its own!
I love the fact that it can be run off a powerbank and also has its own inbuilt rechargeable battery which makes it perfect for carrying around and setting up for impromptu sessions. The automatic keystone adjustment works surprisingly well and it even comes with a carry case, remote control and mini tripod so has everything you need apart from a screen. Most of the places I’ve used it have has a reasonable span of blank white/cream wall space which has been absolutely fine.
Another huge bonus for me is the ability to plug a memory stick into the USB port and play films, photos etc directly from that. The mirroring works well from my phone too (android). I haven’t tried it for streaming from an ios device as I don’t have one but I’m sure it would be equally competent.
The only real downside is the sound which really isn’t great at all but I genuinely didn’t expect it to be so use it alongside a Bluetooth speaker.
For a product which is so small and around 220 when on offer I think it represents excellent value for money – super happy with my purchase!
What a fantastic little projector this is. Purchased as a Christmas present for our son for gaming in his room – it displays a 60 inch image across a really short throw with great colours and no image bleed. The ability to also beam a smaller image down on to his desktop for copying pictures is great. The speakers aren’t too bad either for the size but it’s easily compatible with our Bluetooth soundbar. Being so compact it can be taken anywhere, so great for holidays and camping trips. Well worth your investment.
I have been using this projector now for a few weeks. It’s absolutely brilliant, you can connect your firestick to the back which enables you to watch streaming content. The sound is not amazingly loud, however it’s perfect for my use. If you want the full experience, you can always connect a speaker via Bluetooth.
It comes with a travel case and a stand.
The quality is fantastic for the price. It’s clear, and you can select where you are watching it. For example, the ceiling, front wall, back wall etc.
I would definitely recommend this. If you want something louder, just add a speaker.
I use this for displaying resources when teaching outside of my usual classroom. It is light weight and portable and displays things well enough. I can’t always get the best clarity, but it is good enough.
I have had several projectors over the years but this is by far the most user friendly and compact of them all. Apart from coming with the useful accessories of a tripod and storage case it projects an excellent image with great definition. It also connects well with larger camera tripods when a higher and more remote projection position is required. The WiFi connectivity has made it perfect not only for home use and business presentations it is also the ideal media companion to take on holidays.
All in all I am very pleased with my latest projector.
This Projector has truly exceeded my expectations. The projector has an exceptional resolution, generous screen size, and captivating color ambience. The clarity and sharpness of the images and videos are outstanding. Whether watching movies, playing games, or giving presentations, the high resolution ensures a visually stunning experience. it transforms any space into a home theater. It’s perfect for movie nights providing a theater-like experience at home. The hues are rich and deep, and the colors enhance the mood and atmosphere. Setting up the projector was very easy and fast, and it offers a range of connectivity options like Airplay, HDMI, and Bluetooth which makes it versatile for various devices. The user-friendly interface and remote control make navigation simple. In conclusion, the Projector is a fantastic addition to my home entertainment setup. With its impressive resolution, expansive screen size, and captivating colors, it delivers a top-notch viewing experience. I highly recommend i
I only gave it 4/5 because, understandably, such a small projector will never be very bright or clear. However, I have to say that I am very impressed at what Elephas have achieved with this little box!
First of all (and this was a big surprise) it plays back PowerPoint files from a usb drive – no PC required! It loads Microsoft Office Suite, seemingly on an Android-like operating system. The implementation of the PowerPoint playback is a bit clunky to find your way around. It doesn’t do embedded video clips and sometimes formatting appears wrong. Keep PowerPoint presentations simple and it is fine. Use it with a PC for fully-fledged PowerPoint.
It was fine playing back jpgs and mp4s. However, I could not seem to flick through jpgs in a folder, having to close one and open another. Folders are a nuisance. On inserting a usb stick, the projector creates 7 folders on it. That’s quite unnecessary! It’s also only usb2. pdfs play back using the Office Suite, which is not as user-friendly as on a PC. Software can be updated online as the projector connects to WiFi. It will need to be mains-powered to do this.
The brightness is OK in a dimmed room and the picture quality is not bad. The fan is a bit noisy but not at a disturbing frequency. The focus wheel is a bit too sensitive. The auto-adjustment of trapezoidal effects from a tilted projector works well. The remote control can be fussy if not pointed directly.
The time on battery playback is between 1h30m and 2h. Charging is 2h or more. The power supply uses a usb C slot at up to 12v. I have a small car jump start battery that I would like to connect but will need to solder a special cable.
The presentation of the projector and accessories is very good – all in a sturdy, zip-up case. But the projector is so small that it will easily slip into a laptop case with an hdmi cable for connection.
I would recommend this projector for its portability and flexibility, but it is suitable mainly for smaller, dimmed rooms.
The machine is easy to operate.
And the projecting is very clear and nice
Been using this little projector for a good 4 months now, the picture quality is great.
The resolution it’s great and it’s bright enough to see any movie or series.
The battery last for a full movie without being connected!
And if you want better sound, you can connect any speaker va Bluetooth
I got this for work, as we are about and about in different places. Really portable and surprisingly good picture quality for a small unit. Comes with carry case and all cables etc.
It’s a great projector!!
I really recommend this to my friends ~
Bought the mini projector to use for my trainings and it’s so lovely. It does connect without any challenges, picture quality very good and the sound is fine
My brother saw it, fell in love with it and took it away. I had to buy another one for myself
This mini projector is value for money
Product is amazing. Works well even in the evening ligh
Amazing projector to have!!! My next holiday will go to the higher level.
100% recommend
Bought as a gift, my girlfriend is very happy with it and the picture quality is amazing.
I was looking for a quality mini projector to use in my motorhome to project onto a lowered window blind. This unit fitted the bill perfectly. Compact size and battery powered or via 5v supply from the van. The picture quality is very good and linking it to a small Bluetooth speaker the system works very well. The small tripod unit makes the unit easy to position. Very pleased with this purchase
Super portable projector! Works great for watching stuff for my Roku sick projected onto the ceiling, small enough to easily attach to bed frame with a flexible camera tripod.
Great little projector. Good quality picture. And tiny in size. Big fan.
Lovely bit of kit works straight away plugged firstick in and it was good to go.
Well worth the money
Sorry about the pic
This is an amazing little projector, it’s great for your home or portable use, I’ve used it for going camping as you can use a power bank to power it up, aslo you can connect speakers via Bluetooth or AUX, it picture is sharp and colourful. can’t fault it atall it’s well worth the price.
Very small, easy to use. The picture quality is very good. Great value.
This is my 2nd projector and I’ve got to say, I’m really impressed with it. It’s much smaller than my first and has a few more features, such as the screen mirroring (effectively wireless streaming) and the way that it auto levels out the screen once projecting.
Battery life is pretty good too, long off to watch your average film, though I have a mini-power pack with mine just in case. Add with a Bluetooth speak/headphones it’s a great little bit of kit that I’d highly recommend.
What a great little projector. I bought it for my VW Camper Van. It’s perfect for the job.
The projector comes in a greta carry case with storage for all the cables, its easy to sync phones and tablets to for mirroring content and also very easy to cast from a PC.
I had this setup in a few minutes, connected to wifi and cast netflix from my phone, it does need a good clean area to project to so I would recommend a screen if you don’t have a large wall, the picture quality is good but the speaker is a little weak so it is worth considering having another sound source.
I use this mainly for murals so it’s very handy to carry around with me and works well with my other iOS devices.
I bought this projector to project pdf sewing patterns directly onto the fabric, to reduce the amount of paper I use, and the time spent sticking paper pattern pieces together.
This projector was easy to set up – I followed instructions and suggestions from the ‘Projectors for sewing’ Facebook group. I mounted my projector on the ceiling, pointing down to my cutting table. It was easy to connect to my PC using wifi direct and it only took me an hour or so to calibrate it. I have since been using it regularly and it has positively impacted my sewing hobby! My tabletop-to-ceiling distance is just short of 2m and my sewing table is approximately 180cm by 100cm, and I have nearly a full table projection area. Highly recommended!
..but so far it does the job. There is no projector I have seen that gives sharp images like a TV and this one is satisfactory. And the price is reasonable
The “A1” Elephas 1080p is a reasonable pocket projector for the price, especially for business use. There are some pointers worth considering: the battery depletes quickly (but you can charge using external battery supply), the sound quality may not mask the fan noise (but you can pair an external speaker) and the out-of-box colour will need to be adjusted to reduce the red. I would definitely recommend using an external BT speaker if you’re considering using for entertainment or films. The pairing of the BT speaker and wifi also takes a bit of getting used to. If used for business presentations however this device would be perfect, as sleek and compact.
The A1 is also well made, there’s a good quality feel to the case and the projector comes packaged with useful tripod and all the extras you’d need.
This is a great little projector, you can literally have a movie like experience anywhere with a flat white wall!
I had previously bought a cheaper projector off here that stated it could playback 1080p, however it was only 480p native..
It did throw a bigger picture than this one, however it doesn’t come close to the picture quality. Honestly 1080p native is the only way to go in my opinion.
This projector was one of the cheapest so I wasn’t expecting much, but my god did it surpass my expectations! Bright, clear images.. And a surprisingly loud speaker! It’s honestly comparable to some TVs I have heard!
Even when the lights are on its not a completely washed out image, definitely watchable although dark environments are where this excels.
Paired with a soundbar and you have yourself a home cinema experience for sub 300, perfect for these never ending lockdowns!
Beware tho, they boost their reviews by offering a free gift for a 5 star review which is unfortunate, as I believe it can stand on its own.
EDIT: After a while the image developed a black mark on the top right that cannot be removed via cleaning the lens (annoying on white scenes). The fabric also began to fall off the back.
Bought this to make “Movie Night” more special rather than going to a big screen TV and have been very impressed to date. I haven’t tried all of the connections, but an Amazon Fire Stick has taken care of most things I wanted to do, and a USB stick the rest, and the only frustration has been the screen, which I have set up for two different rooms and looks scruffy in both: not something to leave up … and the one I ordered wasn’t really big enough for the projector from a distance.
While the Amazon Fire Stick’s remote control took care of most operations, the projector’s remote has been useful when navigating the USB stick and for controlling the volume of the projector, although I have been using an old computer external speaker system and latterly a TV soundbar running off the headphone socket to boost the volume of the audio.
Picture quality has exceeded expectations, and if a decent permanent screen hadn’t been as expensive as a bigger 4k TV I might still be using it at the house, but it is now in the ‘Man Cave’ attached to a DVD player, and still going strong.
The fan noise can be a little distracting in quieter scenes until you get used to it, but becomes white noise quite quickly … especially if you crank the volume up to cinema levels.
Considering the price that this projector usually sells for, you’re not going to find a better projector in this range.
This does project at a native 1080p resolution, unlike the majority of other projectors in this price range which are 1080p “compatible”, however in actuality project at 480p. The brightness excellent, I don’t think it’s quite 6800 lumens, perhaps 75% of that, but it’s still very good in this bracket.
One slight con regarding the picture quality is that the red level isn’t quite perfect, and can sometimes look washed out or a touch pink. That said, this is a minor issue and is barely noticeable compared to the red-bleed issues on other low-cost displays. This does tend to create noise from downscaled higher-res video inputs, and in this regard the “noise reduction” setting does very little, but this is a ~150 projector, and it’d be unfair to expect such issues to not be present.
The sound is adequate for a built-in speaker, but not really suitable for long-term viewing. If you’re going for a true home cinema experience, you should be hooking this up to a hi-fi/amplified set up anyway, or even directly lining this to stereo/5.1/7.1 speakers, of which there are plenty of great value solutions also.
The I/O selection is good also, and comes packed with HDMI, VGA, and RCA adapter cables, all of which are great to receive included, regardless of their ubiquity.
All-in-all, this is a brilliant projector at this price point, and could not recommend this more if you’re only willing to spend <200; at that, you'll be hard pressed to find a better projector for less than twice the price of this one.
Im actually so impressed with this for the price, I was a bit worried about the picture quality but its as good as any HD TV when the focus and keystone has been adjusted (even at its biggest projection). I bought a tripod to go with it and it projects really well on my wall, compatible with my firestick, couldn’t ask for more really. The only thing that annoys me a bit is how noisy the fan/cooling system is (it sounds like an old school computer) but to be fair, I think I only notice it a lot because of where I have it positioned in the room (a small box room), as the speakers are on the back and the fan bit is on the side, if the projector was moved forward and not directly needed t to my head, it probably wouldn’t be much of an issue but as the room is so small, the picture would be smaller so its a case of watch a tiny screen or put up with a bit of noise.
Well first off i own the YG600 which i have had for about a year or so now, and i was blown away by it. it is a great little projector. i have watched many movies on it and it performs great, it does “bleed” the image every now and again, but for the most part its a good picture.
Now compared to the Q9 (this product) there is just no comparison. The Q9s image is amazingly good! and it is also alot brighter than the YG600.
you cant see the pixels unlike the YG600 either which is just great, it also supports 2K and i have played some UHD videos on the Q9 and they look awsome!
the fan is also slightly quieter than the YG600 and it does not get as hot as the YG600 either. it also has a removable filter that is easily taken off the projector for cleaning (it just fits on the side of the machine and snaps on) this is a good design as it cleans the incoming air to prevent dust build up.
one thing i will say with this projector is that it will take some fiddling about with both focus and keystone to get the image as good as possible. meaning that i found it harder to get a perfectly clear image compared to the YG600.
in the end i had to try and get the projector almost “head on” to the wall and adjusted keystone and focus to get it perfect.
there is no black corners on this thing and the image quality is really really good, i got lucky on this and got it on black Friday for only 110 down from 180. and in my opinion i would be happy to have paid the full price if i knew how good it was going be.
Honestly a really great projector and easily worthy of integrating into a dedicated home cinema room, its also worthy of a decent screen as the image is that good on it. for 110 its stupidly good, i dont even want the free gift as i have had one from them before (amazon fire stick worth 40 at the time).
time will tell if it holds up but even if it lasted only 2 years its worth the quality you get, i only use blu rays on my PlayStation 4 and so its not really worth getting a higher resolution projector yet, but i am guessing Elephas will be working on a 4K one in the future once we have newer resolutions come out and the parts are cheaper. i am always behind with tech and i always get a good price because of that.
to me 1080p for a 100 – 150″ screen is good enough to be cinema quality, this will be a nice addition to my dedicated budget cinema room, that will be upgraded once Elephas bring out a new projector with even better resolution.
i must also add that UHD youtube videos look stunning on this even just projected at a wall, as for daytime viewing its not going to do too well but i bought this item knowing that already, as i intended to use it in a dedicated cinema room anyway.
great product and i will buy from Elephas again, they keep impressing me with great prices and great quality.
Great product, easy to set up and connect. We bought it a few weeks into lockdown and it’s had extended outdoor use over the summer as our “Go to” home cinema! Thank goodness we have had the weather for it hey?
Arrived promptly and was carefully packaged with all the accessories neatly packed into their own individual plastic bags with clear instructions for the “non teccy” recipients. My Hubby did a lot of research into what he was buying and at first, he was a little sceptical mainly because he had never heard of the Brand before and for what the model was offering, the price did seem a little too cheap!
However, I am glad to say we haven’t regretted it… we’ve had so many hours of fun and so have our friends and immediate family! The sound was a little too “tinny” for our liking but after we hooked it up to a soundbar we were soon enjoying Cinema quality pictures and sound and we didn’t even have to pay 5 quid plus for a tub of popcorn… We even bought a Gazebo (with sides) so we could start watching movies earlier on in the day, but it has such a great picture quality anyway, we hardly had to put them down. We have now moved indoors as it’s getting chillier and enjoying projecting onto our Dining room wall (Off white) Picture quality is superb
Our friends have been so impressed 2 of them have already purchased the same model so if you are thinking of taking the plunge… please do… you won’t be disappointed! Great product at a very competitive price
having read the many positive reviews, he went ahead and purchased and s I took the plunge and decided to purchase this. If your thinking of buying one DO!! I’d recommend setting it up with a sound bar or similar to get that true movie experience and for the money I spent I don’t think I’d ever get a 77″ tv screen!!
I have to remember how much I paid for this projector when reviewing. This is budget one so you shouldn’t expect too much. I don’t have other projectors to compare but my view is it’s really good and very watchable for the odd movie night. The overall picture is great and reasonably good at about 100inches. The colour is fair and there is a reasonable contrast and visibility in the darker areas though you need to play with the setting to get the best. At full HD it’s fairly unique at this price as so many others are not full HD native. Some of the definition is lost though as the focus does seem a little soft no mater how you adjust. A few other points:
It really is for dark rooms only
The fans are noisy but not terrible, so think about position.
Keystone adjustment can cause image to blur at bottom.
Sockets on back are close to casing and close together so some sockets don’t fit well.
The audio output From rear 3.5mm socket is poor quality but speakers are good.
None of the above are that bad and I’m living with them all fine. If this is your first projector and don’t want to fork out a fortune as for me this is a great projector.
I have only had the projector for a short time, so happy to update my review later if things change, but so far I am very happy with it. The picture quality is very crisp and certainly looks 1080p to me (based on a YouTube video). Sound quality is reasonable, though slightly distorted at higher volumes (though my intent was always to use it with an external speaker anyway). Brightness is good, though, as with any budget projector, you wouldn’t try to use this in an un-darkened room. Still, even during daytime without blackout blinds, the picture was perfectly visible and reasonable to watch, but for optimal experience, make the room as dark as possible.
I haven’t yet tested compatibility with an Amazon Fire Stick or a hard disk/USB drive, so if there are any issue I will update my review.
The unit itself is very attractive and has a “premium” design to it. It’s light enough to go on most shelves without having to worry about weight (if that’s how you intend to mount it), and it’s easy to focus.
While I have no significant experience with more expensive home cinema units, and I am sure a direct comparison would highlight the benefits of a “true” home cinema projector, but for the price, I am very pleased with this so far. [Our intended use: to have a large screen that we can watch shows and movies on in bed, and occasionally to move to the living room for movie nights with friends, without buying a large HD TV that would be a) more expensive, and b) a hassle to mount to the wall].
Ok this is an open and honest review of the elephas q9 projector. I’ve had this for a few weeks now and I can honestly say it’s transformed our evenings entertainment during lockdown!. First things first you get everything you need on the box to get going and it’s as very nice looking unit.
The build quality In places is as little bit plasticy but what do you expect for this kind of money!
I’ve been using it with a Google Chromecast for a wireless solution and the additional usb ports on the back of the projector run that with no issues.
I originally had it angled up with the little foot cranked all the way up so it’s as long as possible using the keystone correction I managed to get the image on the wall square.
I did find though using the keystone correction did cause some areas of the picture to be blurry while others were sharper. I reverted to having it straight on instead and got a sharper picture immediately across the entire image.
My projector is sat about 4 m from the wall and provides an image of around 3m diagnolly.
It is usable during the day just however it is a little faint as is found with most apart from the really expensive projector. From dusk to night time though it is exceptional. The native 1080p resolution is really sharp and detailed you have to get close to the wall too see the individual pixels even at this size!
Noises!
Firstly the sound quality of the built in speaker is surprisingly good, really I was a little shocked expecting it to be tinny and weedy sound. It’s actually really well balanced nice bass from the speaker and loud enough for movies indoors or out great work there elephas! The only negative is that the fan is a little noisy not unpleasantly loud but you occasionally notice it in quiet moments. Again for this money you can’t argue but it is suprising as it’s led projection doesn’t normally emit so much heat.
The connectivity options are numerous with usb ports 2 hdmi and VGA and an old school composite av off you still have some older av equipment
This has really made our lock in more bareable as we can’t go to the cinema! Really recommended product.
‘You get what you pay for’ is a saying that tends to ring true when buying electronics but I was really surprised at this projector. OK it’s not 4K UHD quality but show me a projector that is unless you’re going to spend 1000’s on one. The picture attached is projected on a 120″ screen – It’s massive! Very watchable.
It does have it’s own speakers however I use the headphone output (3.5mm jack) to connect a home cinema amp and the sound is great! Really easy to set up as well.
For the really fussy here are the things you might want to know:
Projection angle – you need to have the projector central to the screen as the keystone adjustment is only on the x-axis. When the keystone is set at its maximum I did notice slight blurring at either the very top or bottom of the screen (dependant on which way keystone set) Currently I have the projector positioned at a lower angle, projecting upwards, however I’m going to shelf mount it so that its level with the centre of the screen – I think that will cure the blurring.
Fan Noise – Yes you can hear the fan but again that’s par for the course, all projectors have fans but when we have been watching films and sports you can’t hear it above the movie soundtrack. Even in quieter parts of films you just forget it’s there.
Brightness – In a darkened room absolutely no problem but no chance in daylight. You will need to shut the curtains!
Overall an honest 8.5 out of 10 when all considered – I had an older projector that cost more than three times what this one did, I know technology moves on, but the picture quality of this Elephas projector is far superior.
For the price this is a great projector and will suit most people looking for a fun big screen experience. I would recommend hooking it up to an additional sound system so you get that ‘BIG’ sound to match.
Allow me to start out by saying that I have not owned a video projector before so do not have term of comparison. However I must say I am impressed, having your own little cinema with this projector is a great experience. The build quality seems alright, has plenty of inputs to connect it to whatever you want, HDMI, VGA , USB etc. Currently using with an Xbox and watching netflix and playing games.
What you would need to know about this is the following:
Very good picture quality (1080P)
Very good sound as well (surprisingly)
Possibility of immense screen (a given)
Can even be viewed when light out with curtains drawn, if you have dark curtains even better (just need to adjust picture settings accordingly like contrast, brightness, colour etc)
Gaming is awesome on it
If you use this with a console or a fire stick (haven’t tried the latter) you can easily have your own huge smart tv. This coming from someone who had bought a Toshiba 58″ 4k T|V and returned it due to backlight bleed, have bought the video projector and have no regrets.
The one thing I wasn’t expecting having not owning one of these before is the noise the fan makes, I wouldn’t say it is very loud, but it is loud, you kinda drown out the sound whilst watching and based on what movie you’re watching it, becomes barely noticeable.
All in all, if you choose to buy this, to use daily or from time to time, you will not be disappointed, but pleasantly surprised.
I would definitely recommend it.
I’ve placed the projector about 3m from the wall and getting a reasonably large viewing area. So-so video quality during day-time but quite good at night, so no good if you’d like to watch something other than in the evening.
Also, it takes a bit of effort and time to adjust the projector so you don’t get blurred edges or the centre.
The projector comes with a power cable and a HDMI cable but be ready to buy extensions as in my case, the nearest socket (from the ceiling where I’ve fixed the projector) was about 5m away. Same goes for the HDMI cable, it’s just not long enough unless you place the projector next to the laptop Hence, be prepared to spend extra to get the extras.
Speaker is ok, goes fairly loud and this is what you really need to out-volume the fan which sounds like a hoover. Depending where you place the projector in respect to your sitting position this may actually cause you not to hear something at quite volume (i.e whispering in film). Might need to invest some more and get home cinema speakers (or get a slightly more expensive projector)
At first, I was a bit cautious about ordering a projector, as it’s very hard to find one that actually is as good as it states. After seeing this one on sale and looking at the reviews, I decided to bite the bullet and buy my first projector. It arrived very quickly and I was very surprised at how easy it was to set up. It was pretty much plug in and go.
I currently have the projector in my room, which has very limited space, so I haven’t yet been able to test the projector at large distances with larger screens. However, from what I have seen so far, the quality is amazing. All of the colours were sharp and in focus, something that is quite hard to come by for a native 1080p projector at this range.
The noise that this projector makes is definitely audile and can be considered quite loud when no movie is playing and is just a silent room. However, it was quiet enough for me to ignore it and focus on the movie. Once a movie is playing, it’s hardly noticeable.
I was able to plug in my soundbar to the device and it worked instantly. However, I will say that even at max volume on both my soundbar and projector, the sound wasn’t too loud (not as loud as I was used to when plugging the soundbar into my PC). To make the speaker system even louder, I used a 3.5mm AUX splitter which allowed me to plug in an extra speaker set as well, which made the sound quality much louder.
Overall, I’m very happy with this projector so far, and I can’t wait to use this all the time. I will update this review as I use this for longer to see how it holds up, but as of now, I have quite high hopes.
I don’t usually write a lot of reviews ….but after purchasing this product back at end of January and watching movies and more since I have set it up I can honestly say it’s the best 150 I’ve spent in a longtime.
I was going to purchase a small tv for bedroom but as there is a black out blind in the room I thought about a projector instead. The blackout blind is a cream colour from Dunelm which cost 6 and I now have a 77″ screen in the room instead of a 32″ tv on a stand. I purchased this along with amazon fire stick 4K so I could watch amazon prime , Netflix etc as don’t watch a lot of tv. The projector I placed on a shelf opposite (once I got the position correct on blind) and after a few moments of switching on the projector, registering the fire stick I was good to go.
The picture quality is awesome !! Clear , colourful and punchy. Initially I tried the speaker installed in the projector but as this has Bluetooth I linked it with my Bose Soundlink ii compact speaker and the sound is AMAZING! This now takes the whole movie and tv experience to another level. I honestly don’t think I want to go back to a tv again.
I was sceptical to start with on buying this, firstly because it was a brand I never heard of but after ready a few reviews I took the plunge and decided to purchase this. If your thinking of buying one DO!! I’d recommend setting it up with a sound bar or similar to get that true movie experience and for the money I spent I don’t think I’d ever get a 77″ tv screen!!
Overall if your looking for your own home cinema experience without spending a fortune I’d definitely give this a go – you’ll be pleasantly surprised !!
I recently purchased the Elephas Q9 after looking around for a home theatre projector at an affordable price. Being a prime member, the projector arrived on the same day as ordered and has been amazing. At a price point of 200 there isn’t anything to complain about ranging from it’s performance to the style/ design of the Q9 model, which makes the projector a great addition to any family room or bedroom, something to consider when purchasing a projector.
From tests that I have performed, the projections are brightly lit on the wall, even better with a projector screen (no marks on to the screen), and can still be viewed to a good extent in daylight. As of many projectors the Elephas Q9 performs at its best in low lit areas, the picture is sharp from just a couple of feet away and can cast upto 300” with a 16:9 image if you have the space. It is slightly softer towards the edges of the screen which isn’t a major issue for watching films, but should be considered if you intend to use this for slideshow presentations. The video output can cast upto 1080p HD with ease at 50FPS/ 60FPS footage. I have played a couple of action films through it such as James Bond and Mission Impossible, both of which have a lot of high frame rate action scenes within them and there is next to no lag from the projector which is perfect for watching films on.
It is important to note that there is a loud fan powering the projector which can be heard when the speakers are not in use, but when watching a film and outputting sound via a surround sound system or the projector the fan can not be heard.
Overall, the projector is a fantastic addition at it’s price point and is easily a contender for a home theatre experience when combined with a surround sound system.
This is a brilliant starter projector, before buying it I did my research and all the points made seem fairly accurate. It is slightly loud, but also has very good sound quality so can be easily remedied by turning the sound up. the picture is of a good quality – it is currently on my bare wall and is perfectly adequate. It is excellent for gaming and brings a whole new dimension to playing games (as testified by my very impressed 18 year old son).
The only problem I have had with it is that the remote control does not work at all. I cannot fault the customer services as they have sent me 2 extra remotes, but none are working, so I can only assume this is an issue with the IR on the projector. This is not an issue at the moment, as the projector is just on a table, but I will be mounting it on the ceiling when the room is finished. They have asked me to return the projector and they will send me a replacement, which I am currently in the process of doing. It is a little bit disappointing as the projector itself works a treat for our games room and we are very happy with it, but we will need the remote control working and could do without the hassle of returning it, and will miss it until the replacement arrives !!
PROS
– easy to setup
– The Remote is working great, the projector is really responsive to it.
– stylish design
– 2 hdmi ports
– it feels solid overall
– the menu is simple and on point, intuitive and colorful.
– the sound quality is more than i expected and it has rich tones with a lot of volume level.
CONS
– image quality feels A BIT like a stretched 1080, im assuming that is because its distance from the wall is like 3.5m
– the image has a few artefacts on highlights or bright spots which i jave tried to get rid of by changing the brightness & contrast ( still have some..- check the video)
-the settings are a bit too simple, i wish there was more ( it feels like a replica of an old cheap projector that i had few years back).
SUMMARY
in the end my oppinion is that if you want to watch a movie which does not have heavy cgi, it would be good enough. If you are a casual gamer, it is good enough, .Double hdmi helps also so you dont have to switch cables over and over.
The delivery was quick, placed an order in the night and received it the next day. My husband wanted to have a home theatre therefore we needed a projector. Came in well packaging with cables and remote control. The size is quite big, not for people who is looking for a compact projector, I attached pictures of it with MacBook Air and PS4 controller as comparison. Ideal for home theatre in which you don’t need to move it a lot.
Even though the price is quite expensive, the image quality is good; my video shows the comparison between the room with lighting on and off. In the video my husband tested it with his PS4. We also tried to connect the projector with my laptop, it was easy to install. We were looking for the focus bar, which is located on the side of the projector, other than that you don’t really need to read the manual book.
The only drawback is the noise of the fan. We need to turn up the volume quite high in order to cover up the noise. There is no problem if you would like to have an experience like in the cinema, big screen and high volume, but if you have a small children and want to watch a movie not so loudly, then you might have additional fan noise as background (put the projector in some distance might help). To get you into perspective, we put the projector about 5m from the wall to get the desired screen size, we tried different distance before (if we put 2,7m against the wall and it was just slightly bigger than our tv). Overall we can’t wait to have a proper movie night in near future with our new projector!
I am very pleased with this projector. It is very stylish, and the output is fantastic! I can not believe the quality of it compared to the old type of projectors, and the image is sharp, whether this is at 10 foot or 30 foot.
I projected this on to a wall inside the house which was about 10 foot and I was impressed. We watched a few movies and think projections are the way forward. It brings the cinematic like experience in the comfort of your own home.
I then projected it from the house, to the side of our garage that is about 30 foot wide. Again, I was impressed with the quality and light of the final image. There was ambient street lights nearby but as this projector has 5500 lumens, it was able to deal with that very well and provide a nice bright image.
It projects in HD which is a must for watching movies, especially at this price point. The speakers are good and loud, although adding a surround sound package or a soundbar with subwoofer would be amazing. The fan is fairly quiet and not noticeable with the volume on a good level. It can be mounted, and depending on the orientation the display can be reversed and flipped upside down etc.
My son loves it and it is just like a cinematic experience. I think the next step will be to buy the a surround sound for an even better experience.
It comes with some cables (power, vga, hdmi) and a remote control. You can alter many settings such as contrast, vivid, zoom, keystone correction etc.
The technology in the new projectors is great, and so much better than old style projectors.
Overall, I think it is priced very well and I think this is an absolute bargain for what you get.
Simply: The fan is quiet enough to be okay, the brightness works well even in well-lit rooms, and it’s easy to set up.
Why I bought:
I’m on the committee of our local garden club. I’m the only one under the age of 50, so technical stuff usually falls to me. We’ve had an old projector for years and years. It only used VGA, it was loud and noisy, and I think one of the feet fell off. I recently convinced the committee to get a new projector (which, if you know committees, is a lot of trouble).
First, we got an old one that one of our committee members had. The fan was deafening and you had to have every light in the building be off to be able to see it. Oh dear.
Then, we got this.
We had our AGM with this machine and it worked an absolute treat. No more fiddling with VGA. Our chairman managed to set this up! And he’s terrible with electrics. It’s simple enough to use that our committee was amazed! I got to sleep through the event.
Product itself:
First, the wrapping on it is amazing. There are so many little covers and all the cables come in their own bags. It’s nice to have, and it can make you remember what you forgot when you see an empty bag.
The brightness is very nice. It’s perfectly bright enough even in a well-lit room. You can actually see in front of you while you watch stuff! It’s great.
The fan volume’s nice and quiet. You can hear it, but it’s not too bad. If you’ve got audio going through the projector, it’s just a barely noticeable thing. We mostly use it for powerpoints though.
In terms of picture quality and how easy it was to project onto the screen? Well, we had to fiddle with the saturation during the initial set-up. We were able to watch a show on a screen and it was set up how we liked it within the first minute.
We considered alternatives but I’m glad I recommended this one. I got lumbered with the job of storing it for the club and I might cheekily hook it up to one of my laptops to watch my shows in my room. Absolutely recommend this, especially for your frugal committee members!
Best things about the projector has to be the quality of the image and the sound you get.
I am very satisfied with this purchase.
The latest display technology which provides HD image quality, that is the most important thing I need, not bad compares with other famous brands projectors.
The brightness of image is just extraordinary, and I can use it even the lights on.
The sound quality is great volume level, also it can connect speaker, up to personal like.
It’s easy to use, can be packed straight after use, no need to wait to cool down.
I also like the fact you can adjust the projected image so that it appears flat even if you are projecting from an angle.
You don’t need a projector screen, any white wall would works well, other colors walls also works but not perfect as white walls.
The image size can be up to 300-inch, it is a huge home cinema. I like the experience, just amazing.
I can enjoy the cinema with family in a nice , quiet, warm environment, no matter how’s the weather, we don’t need to travel far any more.
It comes with multifunctional connections. AV/VGA/USB/Micro SD/ HDMI/Audio to connect different devices.
By using HDMI adaptor cables, I can connect iPhone, iPad, android devices, very convenient to use.
But personal idea if it’s in WiFi, it will be more convenient. As sometimes due to the wire connection, the cables are a bit more easy to get faulty, without cable will look more tidy as well. Also this product doesn’t include HDMI cable, so you have to purchase the cable separately if you want to connect mobile devices.
Overall it exceeded my expectations. It’s performing very well, both image and sound, also the price is nice too.
The most important thing I want to buy a projector is to protect the children’s eyes and meet the children’s desire to go to the cinema to watch movies. I have just moved 3 months ago, new house had no network to let the children watch TVso I let my children to watch my phone. The result is three weeks ago. The child went to the hospital to measure vision., the child’s vision decreased in the month. At that time, my heart was broken and it was too sad. If my child is still so small, would it really be like me to bring a lifetime of glasses? Thinking of this, I immediately controlled not to let the children watch the mobile phone and increase the children’s outdoor activities. But if the weather is not good, there is still no way to go out, the children will want to see the mobile phone again. And the school teacher also sent a link to let the children learn Pronunciation. So I have to let the children look at the phone. I went to find out where the damage to the eyes is the lowest, the projector’s damage to the eyes is the lowest, because it is refracted to the white wall or to the white screen, so no need Worried that its blue light will be bad for the eyes.
I looked at a lot of different styles of projectors and asked my friends to buy a projector with high lumens and good quality. So I took a fancy to the two 5500 lumen projectors at different prices. I decided to buy this 5500 lumen projector and think it’s more suitable, it can accept the price. It is easier to use, I can use the same frequency line to connect to my mobile phone to let children watch favorite movies and photos. You can also learn the link pronunciation video that the teacher has arranged. I don’t have to worry about the child’s vision falling anymore.
I bought this machine only really to use at Halloween to project ghostly images on my windows. But after using it to watch films and programs with the kids I can honestly say I am more than impressed with the overall quality of the machine and images it produces.
The focus is super sharp , brightness is more than ample for my purposes and the image sharpness and overall brightness is consistent right to the 4 outer most edges of the projection. Motion is smooth with no jitter at all.
The sound is really good , clear , sharp and good bass tones . Lip sync is spot on too with no
Lag at all .
The only small downside is the cooling fan is a little noisy , but not so much it detracts from your enjoyed of watching anything.
Personally I would watch a film sitting on the side of the machine that the speaker is mounted in , and the fan is mounted on the opposite side of the machine so you don’t even notice it.
If you experiment with the many settings in the menu and also settings on the input sources, i.e DVD player , computer etc etc you really can get a perfect image .
If this is what a sub 200 pound machine is like I can only imagine what a machine costing ten times more is like as for me this machine ticks all the boxes so far .
I would buy another without hesitation.
I’m going to experiment a bit with mounting position , white noise generators etc to find the best place to mount it in my house and see if I can limit fan noise . Of course if you watch media with head phones on or use a surround sound system or similar then fan noise is not an issue
Fingers crossed it lasts a long time because I am loving it so fa
