I paid just over a hundred quid for this 33l cooler. It’s quite substantial and can be heavy when full. It absolutely does the job of keeping things cool. I get two bags of ice from the supermarket, pre-chill half water and one bag of ice, then empty the water next morning, fill it two thirds with ice packs and loose ice around your 1/3 of food and drinks, keep the box out of sun. It will be cold 5 days later. I took it to Wales used it mostly for food, only opening 3-4 times a day. I added a bag of supermarket ice on day 6. It was still chilled by the time i got home on day 9. Its has a drain cap which makes it really easy to empty the water out. Saved me a fortune on an electric chiller and electric campsite hookup. Just be aware it is a large box and you should check the dimensions for your car and be or have someone strong to move it when full. Can be used as a little table has cupholder indents on top. It looks similar to a yeti but nowhere near the cost.
I used it for 3 days on a camping trip and by the end of the second day the ice had already turned into water, but everything stayed cold! I confess that I expected it to stay cold for longer but I enjoyed the experience.
I followed the instructions and pre chilled it during the day then filled it with ice that afternoon. Used some of the ice the next day and it was all rock solid. Following day (day 3) returned what ice I hadn’t used to the freezer with maybe 1/5 melted. Happy with that.
We brought this, our friends brought a yeti.
Weekend comparing with ice blocks & ice
Ice wins 100% in both
Ice blocks did go back to gel within 1 day in both.
1 bag of ice pre cooled (melted within 12hrs) in both to cool box from warm.
Then next bag of ice placed mixed with cans.
Ice did 3 days after initial fill in ours with 25% left.
Yeti was 75% left after 3 days.
So 100% if dont want stress of expensive cooler being stolen this was why we choose it, very pleased and its bigger than smaller yeti but fits in sleky traile
I bought this to store food for the volunteers on a DoE trip. I pre cooled the box and any food that went in there, alongside frozen chilli and frozen curry. We had another cool box ( small) to move milk and things we were accessing often to minimise the opening and closing. Temperature outside was 24c. On the evening of the third day, the curry was still frozen! Yip frozen! Enough said.
Bought this cooler thinking it would be like all the others but was very pleasently surprised how good it is, I had 6 small ice packs frozen which i placed in the bottom of the cooler on Saturday morning then filled it with bottles and cans of pop, then poured 3 bags of ice cubes over the top until it was full, Wednesday morning it still has ice in and is still very cold.
Really surprised how good this is, yes its a little expensive but its very strong and robust and looks like it will last a lifetime, Well worth the money.
Got this in place of a thermoelectric cool box. This has worked much better than the my original box, add lots of ice, keep it out of the sun in some shade and ice has lasted the past 4 days on a rally in Norfolk. Fresh cold milk, solid butter and most important cold beer.
