This fleece arrived just in time for the current cold snap – when the temperature drops and I need to cover things up, I suddenly realise how large even quite modest plants are. This is a large piece of fleece, with sufficient width to cover a medium shrub or (as I have) drape it over canes to protect a row of 1-metre tall winter brassicas, with enough to tuck the edges down securely and pin it against the wind. At 10 metres long there is enough for a few rows of veg or several garden shrubs.
The fleece looks like a medium weight – not the lightest but also not the very thick, slight stiff fleece I have seen. I am using a double thickness on one tender plant and hope that this will provide a good level of protection as we are getting snow and ice this month. It’s easy enough to work with but cutting it into the sizes you need before trying to put it in place of course makes handling easier. I think in most contexts if you wanted to use the whole piece uncut, two pairs of hands would make the job much easier.
The price of this fleece seems reasonable for the weight and the size. It seems robust enough to stand up to being out in the weather for some weeks, and to repeated use over the winter and spring seasons.
This vegetable cover is bigger to the one I already have so that’s a good thing, because more area can be covered up with it.
This cover is same thickness any previous one. It should protect plants from insects and frost during the winter. We can fold it as two layered cover for the extra protection if needed. The cover is good size for my needs. It’s easy to cut it to the right size, just need sharp shears. Even by hands we can tear it up but it might go in the wrong direction so I just prefer cut it straight using the shears/scissors. From my experience (last few years I use same type of cover), it does work and plants/flowers do survive over the winter. Maybe because we in UK don’t have proper winter with temperatures bellow zero for long time. Sporadic frost happens only sometimes, rarely so this fleece cover is just right for the temperatures during the winter in UK.
Cover arrived folded in air tight packaging. I’m happy to have it.
