I fitted the kit without any significant difficulty, but here are some useful notes:

    1) some extra washers were needed to get the correct padding for the screws bolted to the flange on one side of the crank housing.

2} the placement of the magnet on the rear wheel spokes for the unit to sense speed was a bit sensitive, but once settled has worked well.

    3) There is also quite a bit of spare cable as the kit is obvious;y made to fit a variety of bike frames. I tied these back with a considerable number of extra Tywraps, but if you are not careful it can be a bit of a spagetti junction.

    4) I haven’t fitted the brake levers with built-in switch: so far this hasn’t caused any problems as I don’t make a habit of pedalling and braking!

I was not happy that I could mount the relatively heavy 4kg battery securely to the relatively lightweight water-bottle mounts (which were in the wrong place anyway). Hence I invested in “Grin Tecnologies Double Bob Battery Mount” which is a much better solution.

The bike now runs very easily even into the teath of a gale! I hope it will continue to work as well in the years to come!

Very easy to install (and delivery was faster than expected), setup on my MTB worked immediately. First “proper” trial off road on some very hilly terrain and very impressed with the torque control and the response of the system. I’ve only used front hub emotor before and can say this beats it hands down (but no surprise there).
Installed the throttle control, but no longer use it, as the torque controlled application of power is very good. The different torque modes allow you to decide how much help you want but you do have to pedal 🙂
Also got to say that Junstar were brilliant.
    Highly recommended

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am now of an age where I need a little assistance to get up hills lol so l looked into building an e-bike out of what donor bikes l have. The steel frame of my Sanderson Life would fit perfectly and all the components from my Giant Trance would be just what I needed since I struggled getting up hills with it (l’m 69 years old so don’t judge ) I checked out what was available and decided to buy the Tongsheng due to the peddle assist feature. I recently the parcel in good time and couldn’t wait to get started. The bike was already built up all l needed to do was install the new Tongsheng motor and accessories to make it complete. First problem I encountered was that the motor casing was touching the bike frame so I had to use all the spacers to rectify that. I continued with the built and the last thing I had to do was check the indexing of the gears and that was when I got my second problem. Each time I tried to adjust the limits on the cassette the chain would come of the chain ring on the motor. Effectively I was only able to get up to 8 gears out of the 10 l had available on my rear cassette. This problem most certainly could have been avoided if Tongsheng had fitted a narrow wide chain ring as standard on the front. I have now had to purchase at additional expense a narrow wide chain ring (60) and a chain retainer (40) to have peace of mind that I will be able to use the full range of gears l have and complete the build. I have still got to complete the adjustment on the rear derailleur to get that done. My short time using the Tongsheng has been really fun. The hills that I have around where I live have not fazed the Tongsheng at all and the level of assistance is very addictive lol I still get a workout and I don’t end up with sore muscles at the end, so I’m able to ride more frequently another plus for sure. I am awaiting the narrow wide ring which is not difficult to fit and also the retainer which is just a belt and braces fit to arrive very soon and I believe all my issues will be resolved and I can begin to enjoy the benefits of going to the Dark Side lol. I hope that this review will help you if you take the plunge to invest in a conversation kit,it’s definitely worth it and barring a few issues I have come across and this is mainly due to the frame that I used it would have been plan sailing.

With a 9 speed cassette the gear ratio is too high. It took me way longer to install than I expected. The electrical side of the install is quick and easy but the mechanical side can be tricky, it depends on your frame. I had to debur the bottom bracket mounting and cut away the front derailleur cable guide with my multi-tool. If you don’t have the tools and skills needed, don’t bother. It’s a decent motor but don’t expect it to perform like a Bosch CX gen 4. I wouldn’t bother fitting the brake sensors, who pedals when braking? What the kit does lack, is a gear change cut out. Just go easy on the pedals when changing gear.

Recommend you get a really decent bike to fit it in first fit wasn’t great but put it in another bike and really impressed with performance, also make sure you get good clearance around the motor or torque sensor won’t work. Early days but so far seems great.

I can’t believe I waited so long to fit this to my bike. I had many concerns about spending so much money and then finding problems getting it installed but after watching You Tube videos covering the installation I decided to take the plunge and have no regrets. The motor works perfectly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI used this motor and battery set to electrify an old Merida mountain bike. By far the hardest part of the process was dismantling the old seized components – pedals and bottom bracket. Once that was done and the bike given a general clean and service, the new kit went on very easily. It’s given the bike a new lease of life, I did a thirty five mile ride today to check everything out and I’m delighted. The motor is smooth and pretty quiet and the ‘bionic legs’ effect is tremendous.

Three minor points. 1: I couldn’t fit the connectors for the brake switches into the control unit, so I just left them disconnected. This doesn’t seem to matter: I’m unlikely to pedal and brake at the same time, that would be silly. 2: The magnetic sensor that counts the revolutions of the back wheel is a bit fiddly to set up. If the magnet passes too close to the sensor it goes crazy and senses a speed of 99.9 kph which cuts the motor, so I had to tweak the distance until it registered correctly. 3. I got the rear rack battery, which is simple enough to fit but the heavy battery jumps up and down in its cage whenever you hit a bump. I’ve bodged it by jamming the battery in place with a wooden wedge, I’ll need to find a better solution.

But overall, a well deserved 5 stars from me.

Bought this as a complete kit, mounting not too difficult.
And it works well, has transformed how I cycle and how far I cycle.
I am well over 60 having had two bouts of Covid energy was lacking, this motor is exactly what I needed.
I thought the price of the kit was reasonable, if I had bought individual bits from other suppliers the cost would have been a lot more.
I suffered a broken mounting bracket, I contacted the supplier through Amazon and they replaced it.
If I could have given 4.5 stars instead of 5 I would as the instructions are rubbish, plenty of stuff on You Tube though.

The conversion was really straight forward to carry out once the old crank was removed, but I had watched plenty of YouTube videos. The only issue was connecting the battery as it had different connector to the motor. Needed to fit 2 bullet connectors. I am really pleased with the finished result. It looks good and the performance is excellent, it enhances the whole bike experience and will encourage me to go biking more often. You still need to put in some effort and use the gears but help is available when needed. Am able to go a lot further and faster and not worry about head winds and hills.

*updated* it’s on the bike and is superb. Extra weight isn’t that noticeable and the range is much better than old 17.5ah battery. I got the 25ah one. Fits on a voodoo Bantu with extra clips sold separately.

Arrived early, they messaged before despatch to check I had ordered the right things and the battery would fit as I ordered a larger than usual one. Brilliant service. Still to put on the bike, but all boxed as new inside (minor dent on outside of box appears to be standard courier damage, nothing major). Included correct sensors (thanks to the pre check message :)) also included a connection wire for battery. Superb all round.
