This bag of 7 tulip bulbs arrived promptly and safely packaged. All the bulbs seem to be healthy and good quality and none were soft or had to be discarded. They claim to be a size 10/11 but I felt they looked a little on the small side?
Whilst pleased with these, I just feel that 6.99 is a little pricey for 7 bulbs. At this time of year it is not uncommon to find shops, supermarkets and High Street stores with bags of tulip bulbs at the back of the shop, ( I just bought 15 bulbs for a 3) so by comparison these seem quite expensive. I suppose I shouldn’t really rate them until next year when they’re in bloom however it’s not much use writing you a review next March when they’re in bloom – you need to know now! You can’t really go wrong with new tulip bulbs so I don’t see how these can fail.
The tulip bulbs from Schone arrived quickly and in a plastic bag with air holes stapled to a cardboard information card.
All 6 bulbs look firm and in good condition, no signs of mould or damage.
It’s hard to tell which colour the tulips will be but taking a guess I think perhaps 3 different colours, so 2 bulbs of each colour.
Comparing these to Tulip bulbs from Wilko, I would say the Schone bulbs are smaller (could be due to them being different tulips) but more uniform in shape.
Planted in October, hopefully they produce some nice tulips.
I will wait for them to grow/ bloom and add a comment and pictures.
The bulbs looked healthy, arrived in good condition, no squashed bulbs.
Obviously only time will tell.
These bulbs are of a decent size and arrived in good condition. I have seen these cheaper however I feel as though you are also paying for convenience and quality with this order. Would buy again.
It’s hard to write a review for these, as I won’t know what they’re like until they blossom in the spring. What I can say is that they arrived nicely packaged, are of a uniform size and look like good quality bulbs.
Planting time is August — December, and they should flower in April — May. I’ve already put all seven in a large planter that gets lots of spring sunshine.
I’ve never tried this ballerina shape before, so I’m excitedly looking forward to a stunning display when they bloom.
Thanks for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.
I love tulips and I love purple so this pack of 7 Purple Frills bulbs is perfect for me.
The bulbs appear to be very good quality, they’re firm and healthy. I don’t know how expensive bulbs are but 8.07 (at the time of review) for 7 seems like decent value for money, especially as they will flower every year if you look after them.
Instructions on the pack are brief: plant 15cm apart at a depth of 20cm between August and December for them to flower between April and May. I can’t wait to see them bloom.
So I can’t wait for the spring time to see these beauties i’ve already seeded them in the garden, but flowers will come out only in spring.
Good quality bulb in attractive packaging. Now in the ground awaiting springtime.
Ok, these bulbs seem very sturdy.
And they are nice and big.
I shall be planting very soon and look forward to some good results in about March.
Bulb arrived in good condition and look to be great quality, will plant out and try to update review when they have flowered.
So husband just planted these bulbs today in bigger pot and I just ran to take photo of the last bulb as he was so quick with planting them all already.
Bulbs are good size and I have high hopes that the tulips will grow well on the spring.
Tulips came in mesh like plastic packaging with picture of these flowers so we know what’s is this. Instruction when and how to plant them I found online from the sellers page here. From August to December is the time to plant these bulbs. They will start to brow from April to May, depends on climate I guess. I’m happy with these bulbs and can’t wait to see the flowers in the sping time..
Currently priced at 8.97. Come with planting details. 6 in a pack. Quality looks good – bulbs are firm and well shaped. Can’t comment on growing success as yet but looking forward to results. Happy with what has come and info provided on packaging
This pack of bulbs seem good quality but only time will tell if the flowers are just like in the picture.
I love the pretty colours and hope they stun and sparkle in spring next year. The six bulbs look good quality: all the same size and none damaged. With only six in a pack, this is ideal for a planter or adding to a display of spring bulbs.
The bulbs can be planted from August to December. I have planted mine now whilst the weather is still comfortable for gardening, but I have read it doesn’t make much difference to the plant if they are sown later.
The bulbs should be 10cm apart, 10cm deep and should grow to about 40cm high between April and May. I have planted mine in a border that gets the afternoon sun and am looking forward to seeing these lovelies blossom in spring.
I ordered these and planted them. The bulbs were sturdy and well packaged, and planting instructions were really clear.
Bulbs are a good size and look healthy – not shrivelled or any signs of mould. Good value for a pack of six and I will look forward to having some lovely tulip flowers next yea
These tulip bulbs come with very basic information about how to plant them and when they will bloom. They need to be planted 15cm apart and 20cm deep and they will flower next April-May. I presume with them being bulbs, that they will flower year after year, but there is nothing on the pack that tells me that.
The bulbs arrived in good condition, and they even fit through the letterbox, so you don’t need to be in, as long as you don’t have a small letterbox.
They arrived for me in September, and that is the perfect time of year to plant them as it should be done between August and December. I planted them in an area that faces south, so will get plenty of sun, where I have daffodils in the spring and wildflowers in the summer.
I live in the north of England, so spring tends to be a bit later for us, so I expect these to come up next May, after the Daffodils, so they will give some colour before the wildflowers start to grow in that area of the garden next summer.
I will add photos when they grow next spring.
This is a lovely pack of mixed tulip bulbs. These are my favourite so I was delighted to have these for my border in my garden. The ideal planting time is now so these are perfect to plant for flowers in spring.
These seem good quality with no damage so I’m hoping for some beautiful blooms, will update when they flower!
The tulips are packed in a bag with plenty of air-holes and a cardboard covering sheet, which shows you what the tulips will (hopefully) look like. The actual bulbs are clean, a nice size and appear to be in good condition, so I’m hopeful that I will be successful growing these.
At the time of writing this review, the cost is 8.97 for six, which is quite expensive for what you get, but not enough to lose them a star.
There’s nothing at all wrong with these tulip bulbs from Dutch company Schone. The bulbs I received look to be very good quality – no mould, no splitting. They’re attractively packaged too with a colourful card saying ‘Tulip Darwin Hybrid Mixed’ and that they should be planted between August and December. They’ll bloom in April to May.
The online listing suggests these mixed colour tulips are among the tallest at 55cm and produce ‘giant flowers’ – so they should look impressive when they come into bloom. Tulips are much easier than daffodils to plant as they only need a fairly shallow 10cm depth in a free draining soil or compost. They should be planted pointed side up.
These tulips aren’t the cheapest you can find but they do discount if you’re looking to get quite a number. And, importantly, these are guaranteed – so in the event you don’t get what you’re expecting when they flower, contact Schone.
This is a real advantage. I know less expensive tulip bulbs are out there but here you can have confidence in what you’re buying with these bulbs. Also, not everyone wants large quantities of bulbs. If you’re just after a half dozen for a planter near the front door or to send to a friend for a little gift – a promise of spring to come – much better to have something you’re confident about than a bigger bag where maybe there’ll be a few ‘no shows’ or they’re not as described. And don’t forget – tulips are perenniels so they’ll return year after year.
Quality tulip bulbs, good size and in Great condition.
Plant 10cm deep and 10cm apart.
I’m going to plant mine in a container, four round the outside and one in the centre. Can’t wait for Spring when they begin to emerge, hopefully I’ll be able to post photos then.
They are a bit more expensive than most but I would definitely buy as they feel solid, full and heavy. Really healthy bulbs.
I bought 2 bags and was very pleased. the bulbs arrived large and healthy, thick and well nourished here in September 2022. There was no mold at all on the bulbs which was good. I planted them all today and since recommendations are to plant them densely, I’m going to order some more.
Just planted, so can’t comment on germination and plant quality. I’ll let you know this Spring.
The tulips are in great colours and I really like the ” tulip purple frill’s “.
There are no instructions on the paper that comes with the tulips, but there are instructions when to plant them on the description.
I have to plant them between August and December and I am looking forward to do it.
There are 7 pieces inside the bag, which are easy to plant and I hope that they will bloom between April and May in the colours shown on the pack.
Hopefully my review was Helpful for you.
These tulip bulbs are a good size and I like that they didn’t come covered in compost or leaving little bits of plant matter behind
The packaging is 100% recyclable which is great!
I like that this is a mixed variety of tulips and I’m excited to watch them grow!
There were a variety of tulip bulbs to choose from but I decided to order the Purple Frill’s – tulips are my favourite flower but this was one type I had never ordered before.
They are size 10/12 and you receive 7 bulbs, they look to be good quality bulbs and they will grow to a height of 40-50cm. The bulbs are to be planted between August and December and they will bloom in Spring, you are advised to plant the bulbs at a depth of 20cm with a distance of 15cm apart in moist, well drained soil. Plant them where they will get full sun ideally.
I have successfully grown tulips for years and they do look stunning in full bloom, I find them to be hardy flowers and they are equally happy in my back or front gardens so it doesn’t seem to matter whether they get sun early in the day or later in the afternoon. The stems are usually strong and they seem to grow stronger with each passing year, they look nice in flower beds mixed with other varieties.
I will send a follow up photo in the spring to provide an update on how they look but as long as you adhere to the instructions you should see a beautiful display around April/May.
A nice selection of bulbs on offer from the seller and having looked at similar bulbs the price looks to be in line if slightly lower than others on offer.
I have chosen this type of tulips as they look more like peonies. The bulbs look very healthy and have been planted into plant pots, I am looking forward to spring to see the flowers, I’m sure they will look lovely. I think these are a bit overpriced (compared to the tulips I have purchased before) but taking into account the type of tulips ordered I am quite happy with value.
