The device works great but if you are looking for gold anything you are not going to find it using this device.
I dont really use the light, but I love the wand. Not only can I hear it underwater but I can really feel the vibration. I used it all summer long and the battery’s are still good. Not too small in size, it’s just right. I’m going to have to buy another one for my son so he will quit stealing mine.

I really liked this detector!!! Sensitive and waterproof. Loved the fact can use with one hand and has a vibration mode with different caps at the bottom next of the handle to help other hear the speaker or not. Great to add for your metal detection kit.

Instruction were not very good for just basic operation but the operation was simple . They also stated you could enclose the charge cable in the charge area but this was impossible.

I still need to use it to make a comment on accuracy. Product look and feel good

UPDATE 9-14-2022: I submitted the review below based on my first impressions and having never used a scuba metal detector… or any metal detector. I’ve revised my review and my rating based on more experience. I was able to experiment with the metal detector on land, with the instruction booklet in my hand. The instructions (as I point out below) are really poor, but I was able to figure out pretty much every feature of the metal detector. While many of the “operations” aren’t intuitive, there are only a few you need to know to make the device useful, and even fewer to use it under water.

One of the things I like about this metal detector is that it does have very few knobs, switches, and settings that you need to understand. There is a “sensitivity level” setting that has 4 levels. Being able to switch between the levels is simple and the result is predictable — more sensitive means it picks up objects from further away, less sensitive means you need to be closer to the object. That’s it… pretty simple. There are different alert modes — beep only, beep and vibrate, vibrate only. Switching between the different modes is pretty simple. By the way… I know from experience that your fellow divers will appreciate if you set it for “vibrate only”.

    ORIGINAL Review 9-12-2022:

If this simply had an on/off button and maybe a few modes of operation, or if operating it were intuitive, having instructions would probably not be very important. But this isn’t so simple and the instructions are severely lacking.

For starters… The instructions are not well organized. It is unclear which “page” is supposed to be #1. The “quick start” section appears in the middle of a page I would describe as #2, or #6 (depending on where you start counting). This is one of only a few sections that doesn’t start with “While powered on…” and actually tells you how to turn it on and off. However, it talks about a red light. Mine only seems to have a white light.

There is an entire page devoted to the warranty and tells you to register your product to activate the warranty, but doesn’t tell you how to register. I wasn’t able to find any information on the package or in the instructions to suggest the manufacture of this metal detector. So, while there seems to be a One year limited warranty, I don’t know if I can activate it.

On one page of the instructions, there is a numbered list. If I had to guess, there was supposed to be a picture that had the corresponding numbers on the part of the device. Unfortunately, there isn’t any sort of picture in the instructions.

It’s really odd that there are two different style USB charging ports — Micro and C, and they include two different style cords — Micro and C. As far as I can tell, you can use either. I doubt you could use both.

The instructions indicate there is a “flashlight led”. As far as I can tell, there isn’t any such LED. Unless it’s talking about the indicator LED that seems to flash a lot. But the instructions list the indicator led separate from the flashlight led implying they are two separate LEDs.

Losing alert. This might be a very powerful feature, but I can’t really tell. It seems that if you put the metal detector down, or if you drop it accidentally, and it sits “without operation” for 3 minutes, it will start sounding an alarm. Unfortunately that alarm only sounds for 3 minutes. So, if it falls into the muck at the bottom of the lake/river/ocean you have 3 minutes to find it. It’s unclear if the flashing light continues to blink after 3 minutes. Unfortunately sounds aren’t directional under water, so being able to hear an alarm probably isn’t going to help you find it. Oh and loosing alert isn’t active in dive mode anyway.

One of the instructions starts with “Under Expert Mode…” But as far as I can tell, there is no instruction telling you how to get under expert mode…. or get out once you’re in.

The “dive mode” controls seem a bit non-intuitive and I can’t be sure they’re actually doing what I’m expecting. It suggests that you can activate detection mode by turning it up side down 3 times, and the indicator light will flash to signal that it’s in detection mode. You can put it in standby mode by “keeping the coil up” for 5 seconds. It’s unclear if that means “keep it up side down” for 5 seconds, or point the wand up for 5 seconds.

After playing with the metal detector for about 15 minutes, I think I might have bricked it. I can’t turn it off and it doesn’t seem to do anything except blink. There is a “reset” button next to the charging ports, but it doesn’t seem to do anything.

So…. from what I can tell, if you figure out how to control the sensitivity, it has 4 levels. The most sensitive level seems to be able to find a US penny from 2ft away. The least sensitive requires you to be within 6 inches. So… you would sweep on the most sensitive, until you got a signal… then you would lower the sensitivity and narrow you search until you’re at the lowest… and presumably within inches.

I’m sure this is a very nice tool. And I hope I can un-brick it as I was really looking forward to using it on a dive this weekend.

But… OMG… I wish someone would take the time to write some better instructions.

UPDATE 15 minutes later: It wasn’t bricked… it was imply in drive-mode-standby. In Dive-Mode, it doesn’t respond to the buttons being pressed. So pressing the buttons doesn’t do much. In dive-mode-standby, all it does is blink.

I was also able to confirm that you activate and deactivate standby mode by inverting the wand — pointing the indicator light and control buttons downward. It’s not a toggle… you have to flick it 3 times to activate detection mode (deactivate standby), and hold it for 5 seconds to activate standby mode (deactivate detection).

I think that in general this would be a great tool. I’ve given it 3 out of 5 stars because a great tool is only great if you can figure out how to use it. It’s only a piece of plastic if you can’t. At this point, it would almost be worth it for me to get the Chinese instructions and have one of my Chinese friends translate for me.

I gave this metal detector a test around the house, through doors, bags of rice, wood, the garden and I even submerged it in the sink for a bit. After pulling it out of the water, the internal compartments were good to go. I put the head under water to see if it would work underwater as advertised and was pleasantly surprised at how responsive it is.

I would love to take this to the lake or maybe even a cove somewhere to find all the lost rings and iphones. 🙂

    Very strong and well built.
