I’ve had it for 3 months – it has worked well. There are many hydroponic systems on Amazon to choose from. I wanted one that had a high light height and could be controlled with an app. I recently bought a 2nd one for a friend.
At a very reasonable price, I was pleasantly surprised. The unit is well made and includes everything to get started, except seeds.
I had to return my first purchase. From a well known brand manufacturer, it was missing parts in the box. Before re-purchasing I looked again and decided to give RGBing a try. It was 30% less expensive and it included Wifi control.
I am very pleased with my decision. It’s seems to be of better quality and has more features.
The reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the instructions are written in Chinglish. And I had to read them 3 times, to figure out what it’s saying. It’s a shame the manufacturer didn’t use an English speaking individual to write the instructions. Otherwise the system is well designed and well made.
This is a wonderful way to get started with hydroponic gardening or gardening in general. This kit includes everything you need to get started except seeds and works with growing herbs, vegetables, fruit or even flowers. Good for anyone but especially those in colder climates that have a later warming temperature as it enables you to start seeds and grow into seedlings while waiting for warmer weather. I live in the sub tropics so I’m using it to sprout my seeds prior to transplanting outside. The system allow you to grow up to 15 different pods and runs off of LED light, keeping your energy bill down. The light is adjustable, allowing you to raise it up as your seeds grow and you can set to red if you are growing only fruit or blue if growing only vegetables. When running, it is very quiet and has an alarm that beeps when water gets low. It is also WiFi capable using the SmartLife app.
I have never before planted anything. This is something I bought to do with my grandson. He and I were both quite eager to open the hydrophonic kit and put it up. Both setup and directions were simple to follow. We successfully planted a variety of herbs, which was surprisingly simple. I only need to wait for it to sprout at this point. My grandson rushes to see how it’s going every time he visits. extremely pleased with the purchase.
Gardening in the 21st century has certainly moved on beyond anyone’s believes, this hydroponic kit does everything except water the plants although it tells you when to water them.
A unit that stops me from over watering and does everything else for the plants and actually speeds up growth is what I have been looking for all my life.
The manufacturers have thought of everything when designing this, you can go away on holidays and still be able to control your plants/herbs with the control and simply tell others when to water them.
Downloading the app onto your smart phone/tablet couldnt be easier and the app is so easy to navigate you don’t need to be a techie to understand the data.
This would make the best present for any keen gardner also fantastic for children to get involved with as they will see the results a lot faster using this kit than leaving plants/veggies to the british weather,
Price wise may seem high but once you plant your first seeds you will realise this is a investment and clearly has been built to last, slashing your gardening times by half.
The quality of this build cannot be faulted, works straight out the box just plug in and downloadthe app.
After 5 days we got leaves! This is fun and it was easy.
I love the ability to grow my own basil and not having to pay for it. I was skeptical that I would kill everything I tried to plant and I am actually quite good at this system! The light can remain on all day and takes very little energy.

This starter kit has all the bells and whistles and then some. It has a great light set-up for either veggies or herbs which is what I will be using it for. This goes beyond the normal grow system with the WiFi app you can monitor, change and track your seedling in it’s growth. This really is the best if you want the freshest herbs for your dishes. I highly recommend.
Haven’t really dabbled in home growing before but this made me try! It provides constant light & watering & ensures that these two necessities are catered for.
Thankfully this reduces the risk of me doing something wrong but just ensure everything is setup correctly.
It’s not too loud although the light might make you rethink where you want to keep it.
Decent sized tank which I check every few days and top up when required.
Overall quality is good & feels durable. Would easily last years if cared for correctly.
I’ve been after one of these for a while now as living in the UK can make growing all year round near impossible.
I was worried that these may be overcomplicated and that you need to be tech savvy to use one but it’s really quite simple.
There’s not much required in terms of assembly. You just need to attach the arm for the light which is as simple as connecting the arm to two slots. Then plug in the pump and put it in its place with the cover on top… Then lastly connect the power cord. You’re then ready to plant your seeds.
They provide plant feed and instructions on mixing volumes. You then add soil sponges to the baskets, then add your seeds and wait for the magic to happen.
The app is just the smart life app, which I was already familiar with due to other products.
It was simple to connect the device to the WiFi, and then pretty much everything can be done via the app. You can set times and durations for the light cycles and it’s all very intuitive to use.
There’s warning notifications and sounds for when you need to replace water or top up the plant feed. The light is also easily adjustable as your plants grow.
There’s 2 light settings (White and colour) depending on what it is you’re growing and we think it looks really great when it’s on.
Our children have expressed a great interest in this new device and are really keen to get in involved and do some growing of their own. It’s so simple to use that even young children can get involved with some supervision.
Everything seems to work well on this and it seems very simple to clean and maintain.
Very happy and excited for the possibilities that this opens for all year round growing fun.
Today’s unit is the RGBing 15 pod wifi enabled hydroponic garden, and I know what you’re thinking: this unit looks familiar. You’d be correct in that assumption too, as it is based off the common 15 pod platform that a few other brands are using. I have another unit that looks identical for the most part, with the same light, tank, base and a slightly different pump. That said, this isn’t a bad thing, as this platform is actually quite effective in allowing for various plant sizes and layouts, which we’ll get into later.
Now, this unit does pack some extras into it that definitely make it a serious contender. First of all, this unit is now the king of extras out of all of the units I have tested thus far. Lyko held that title prior, but this unit truly took it to the next level. First you have your usual stakes, labels, sponges, covers, domes, nutrients, and baskets—you know, the standard fare. This unit then steps beyond that with a 3 piece tweezers set and pruning sheer/scissor set in a very nicely made carrying case. It even comes with a funnel to make filling the unit easier! Might not sound like much, but those curved tweezers really make it much easier to place the seeds into position on the grow sponges. I am definitely a fan here, no doubt about it.
Speaking of sponges, this unit is compatible with any sponge that is compatible with Aerogarden. That may not seem like such a big deal, but it means no matter what happens, you can always get replacements for it, as those sponges are essentially the industry standard. Believe me when I tell you, if you end up getting into this hobby, you’re going to go through some sponges, so being able to go with the most common type is definitely a good thing.
Set up of this unit was ridiculously straight forward. Just plug in the pump, place the top on, insert the rod, and connect the light. From here, add water before you plug it in and turn it on. Personally, I like to let them run overnight just to make sure the pump and everything is working properly, but some people get everything going immediately. There’s something else I’d like to point out when putting it together, there is enough space next to the pump cable to run an air hose and put an air stone inside the unit. This isn’t necessary, but depending on what kind of plants you are growing, it can really help with growth rates and production. A lot of units require a bit of creativity to add an air-stone, so I applaud them for giving exactly enough space to do it on this unit. If you look at the images. you’ll see the air hose I installed.
The layout for the baskets is 4-6-5 from front to back, which will allow you to do 15 small plants, about 5 medium plants, or 2-3 relatively large plants without much hassle. I’m testing the unit with multiple jalapeno plants and 1-2 roma plants (still deciding on that part). I’ll update this review as the project goes.
Of course, we can’t talk about an all in one hydroponic system without touching on the light. This particular platform probably has the best light setup on any unit that isn’t the Farm XL lineup. I do wish it could go a bit lower, but it goes low enough to generally avoid any issues with leggy plants, which is all you can really ask for. It’s the height, however, that makes these units so great. A hair over 30″ at peak. Two and a half foot tall plants are a reality for this kit, which is far above average of 16-18″ that we usually see on most units.
Another thing I would like to touch on is the smart control options. There isn’t a lot of things you can change on it, but I welcome the options they do give you. Setup was pretty painless here, just downloaded the Smart Life app, created my account (there is a guest user option as well for those who want to skip that step), held the set up button on the garden and let the app search for the device. Once paired, I entered my wifi password and that was it. Once paired, you have the options of setting the amount of days the garden has been going (useful when starting new plants or if you want the days to match when the plant sprouted), the light mode (veg and herbs or flowers and fruit), pump mode (operating or do not disturb), and the actual light cycle timers where you set what time it turns off and on. That last option is real nice in this price bracket, as this is the only unit I have tested thus far in the under $200 price bracket that allowed me to set the exact start and stop timer for the lights. Bravo RGBing.
I suppose now is where people are going to anticipate some negatives, and I’m going to be blunt here, I don’t have any at this time. It’s a very complete package with all the extras you really need to start your garden. You just have to add seeds, that’s it. You can add an airstone without any modification, you have the smart features and app, you can set your light cycle length and on/off times, you can fit up to 15 plants, you can grow plants up to 2 feet tall, etc. This really is a great package coming in at the price it was available at the time I reviewed this. I can definitely say this unit is worth the asking price, and honestly feels like one of the best values I have seen in this hobby, and I’ve tried a lot of them at this point. Even though there are others that are pretty much identical for the main unit, this one has the most complete extras package I have seen yet and also undercuts the price on competitors who are using this platform. At the time of me writing this, the closest competitor on this platform was $20 more, and that was for one without the smart features enabled. The closest with smart features price wise is $40 more and it cannot match this on extras.
I can happily recommend this product to anyone who wants to get into all in one hydroponic systems. You will not find a more complete and flexible set up in this price range. Trust me, I’ve looked.
