Turning an old TV into a Bluetooth – the 3.5 plug ? goes into the earphone socket in the back of the tv . the equip. is powered by a plug supply , Remember Bluetooth is a pain – it likes to hunt for anything in the area , .. turn off anything you.ve used before – earphones , iPod etc ….I.ve linked this to my sound-bar – which has a boom-box which needs to be turned off coz it is it’s own Bluetooth to the bar – then choose Bluetooth on the bar …my sound bar can be a right swine …but it joins & now I have full volume boom-box TV back !,,,,nice !
Used to connect Bluetooth headphones to old TV. Very good
I’ve previously purchased a similar product. It’s very useful to be able to turn anything with a headphone socket into a bluetooth enable device and this does that.
I’ve connected it to my iPod classic and then connected it to my bluetooth earbuds and my bluetooth headphones. It’s as simply to connect as anything else. Usually connecting in a few seconds.
I haven’t seen much latency when using them for audio against a piece of video so don’t worry about this, however a lot of the uses for this wouldn’t even have a visual element.
If you have a car radio without bluetooth, or any kind of musical device that doesn’t send audio, I’m happy to recommend it. My only con is that at 19.99 at time of review, you may be able to find something similar for a cheaper price. This definitely does what you expect it to though.
Only used in TX mode.
Sounds great. I been using this to transmit music and dab radio to my bluetooth only speaker. I’ve had no problems with the connection. Easy to use.
I am worried about the build quality. It all plastic and the switch on the side that sets the mode feels like it could break if not careful
Using in my work van that doesn’t have Bluetooth. Having to get in an out so often was annoying having to keep plugging the aux cord in but this solved it completely. Easy to connect and sound quality is just as good.
I have been looking for a way of connecting my ageing (but much loved) iPod Nano 4th Generation to various Bluetooth speakers in my home and thereby liberate it from my equally ageing iPod dock. I had tried other makes of transmitter without satisfactory results. Some were difficult to pair and/or sound quality was poor.
The SOOMFON 3.5mm Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter Receiver is just what I had been looking for. It connected immediately with a number of different Bluetooth speakers and sound quality is excellent.
Unit comes with a choice of connections – solid 3.5mm Male to Male connector or 3.5mm audio cable – both work equally well. Battery life as promised.
Haven’t used it in RX mode so cannot comment on that aspect.
Represents good value for money.
Would recommend.
Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter Receiver was plugged into a television In my bedroom. This synced via Bluetooth connection easily and I obtained a good connection while watching TV programmes. The battery life is relative good I thought and appreciate this will require charging every so often. This functioned and worked as I used this and pleased with the given result.
Exactly what I needed, I have tried the fm Bluetooth receivers & do not like them, just not practical for me personally!
With this method through the AUX, it’s so much easier, won’t stop when I turn my engine off, and will start straight away when I turn my engine on, I don’t need to tune in a radio frequency so no hassle whatsoever.
Very low profile, won’t take up much space in any area of the car, once fully charged it will last for weeks, I haven’t changed it since the first time I did, and it’s been weeks since & still itis going!
Comes with all the wires you will need and reasonably priced, would definitely recommend.
SOOMFON’s USB rechargeable Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter/receiver is the audio tech solution if, like me, you still drive a vintage no-Bluetooth car with a 3.5mm aux input, or have a non-smart no-Bluetooth TV with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. You can use it to let your car stereo receive music from your phone, or make your TV or iPod classic — yes, I still have one — transit audio to Bluetooth headphones.
It doesn’t do both modes at the same time. SOOMFON claim you can connect two devices in either mode, which I haven’t had the chance to test yet but look forward to trying multi-room audio that’s cheaper than a SONOS setup.
At time of review it’s 19.99, which is at the top end of a pretty competitive audio-kludge gadget market, but way cheaper than a new 4K TV or car stereo — or SONOS system — and is portable to all your other non-Bluetooth audio hardware with 3.5 mm jack.
There are two 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm jack connectors supplied, one hard metal dongle and a (much longer) cable.
It’s USB chargeable, with USB-C (the old school rectangle) cable supplied, but no charger.
I have a slightly deaf, tin ear so I can’t judge the finer points of hi fidelity but sound quality’s fine.
The problem I’ve had with older Bluetooth gadgets of a similar kind is transmission latency, the delay between what’s transmitted and when you hear it. It can destroy the sync between TV audio and video. SOOMFON claim low latency, and there’s less noticeable lag in TV sync compared to the old BT 4 dongle I’ve already put in the charity shop pile.
This review is for the Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter Receiver – SOOMFON 3.5mm Bluetooth Aux Adapter Low Latency, Noise Reduction, Dual Connection, Plug and Play Audio Receiver with Aux Cable for Car Speaker TV Headphone
19.99 at the time of review.
This tiny transceiver device connected to my Bluetooth headphones really easily and quickly. I made sure the device was fully charged, then plugged it into an audio extension lead from my TV, set it to Tx, switched on my headphones and listened to the telly. There was no lag and the lip sync was perfect, unlike some other BT transmitters I’ve bought.
The ring around the large button shows a constant green when it has a connection, and changes colours when in pairing mode. The light changes to red when charging. The small switch at the side changes it from receive (Rx) to Off to transmit (Tx). There is a volume up/down last/next song toggle and the ports for charging and the jack lead (2 types supplied).
The only negative I have is that the battery in it only lasted a little under 11 hours and the blurb suggests it is 18hours, but it is possible I hadn’t fully charged it first.
I would like to give it the highest rating due to its small size and the lack of lag when watching TV, but the battery life isn’t as good as it should be, so 4 stars from me but I am happy to recommend it. It is small, discrete, easy to carry about with you and you get all the leads you need. It also charges up quickly, so there is a lot to like.
I’ve got an old car with doesn’t have Bluetooth so I had to connect my iPhone to the stereo using a cable, which wasn’t ideal. Not any more. Charge this little unit up and connect your phone to it via Bluetooth (which is really easy to do). Then plug the unit into your car and your phone is wirelessly connected to your stereo. It’s brilliant and really, really easy to do.
Good sound quality and easy to connect.
I have been using for a specific device and avoid to connect multiple speakers, so I can carry it only and connect to any speaker I want to use and don’t need to pair every time.
Very small and easy to use.
The volumes doesn’t look to work well, for iPhone/iPad it sometimes show Siri, but so far it works well.
Used this to pair my bluetooth headphones with the earphone jack on my Ricateh jukebox.
Worked well, I’m pleased with it, however even though it’s a stereo jack, and my wireless (non bluetooth) headset can get stereo sound, Bluetooth ones couldn’t for some strange reason, just got a buzzing in the Right ear. As they work fine everywhere else I don’t know if it’s just some kind of incompatible somewhere.
Nevertheless, this did get my jukebox transmitting via Bluetooth, so did what it claimed and am happy about that. 🙂
Used to bring hifi speakers back to life – a great product which works really well. Perfectly sized to not be intrusive – has worked well so far and seems to be a great quality purchase.
This Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter Receiver has met my requirements perfectly.
With the addition of a 1/8″ to 1/4″ audio adapter, I’ve just turned my electric guitar amp into a versatile Bluetooth speaker, which I will be using for music in the garden and for beefier audio when I use my smartphone connected to a mini-projector to stream movies.
Setup is simplicity itself – just plug into the device you wish to enable, search for SF-BT020 in the list of available Bluetooth devices and select “Pair”.
Sound is excellent, with no appreciable crackling or buzzing.
At under 20 quid, this is an absolute bargain.
Using this on my Hi-Fi system to listen to records in another part of the house works well sounds fine to my ears easy and quick to set up. Uses USB C to charge which is a bonus as some of these things still require micro USB cables. Comes with all the connections you need. Instructions are simple and clear.
Worked straight out the box . Smaller than I thought it would be .
Depends what you are using it for as to connecting.
First I wanted to connect some bluetooth ear pods to my hi-fi so needed a USB charger into mains , for power for unit .
Had music playing on hi fi and plugged unit into hi-fi ear phone socket using jack plug lead provided .
Switched unit to TX (transmit) . My ear pods connected straight away to the unit via bluetooth . Sound was good .
Next tried the RX mode ( receiving) . For my hi fi needed a jack plug to phono plug lead to connect unit to auxiliary-in of hi-fi.
Paired my phone to unit via bluetooth and it picked up music from phone and played through amp .
Really pleased with this .
Used to pair bluetooth headphones to my DAB radio, this transmitter is very easy to set up and maintains a reliable connection. Its also small so doesn’t spoil the looks of my radio too much and can be hidden behind it so its out of the way.
