Bose QuietComfort® 45 Bluetooth wireless noise
Bose QuietComfort® 45 Bluetooth wireless noise cancelling headphones with microphone for phone calls – Triple Black
QuietComfort 45 wireless headphones
Iconic quiet. Comfort. And sound.
The first noise cancelling headphones are back, now with lightweight materials for premium comfort and proprietary acoustic technology for deep, clear audio. They’re not just an icon reborn—they’re the perfect balance of quiet, comfort and sound.
Noise Cancelling
The pair that started it all.
Acoustic Noise Cancelling began with the original QuietComfort headphones from Bose. With an added external microphone (for a total of six) and enhanced signal processing, QC45 headphones cancel out noise before it can reach your ears. Choose Quiet Mode for full noise cancelling or Aware Mode to let your environment in.
Aware Mode
More music. And awareness.
Aware Mode brings the outside in. Microphones pick up the sounds around you and play them naturally through the headphones for increased awareness of your surroundings. It’s your music (or messages, or podcasts) and your environment at the same time.
Battery life
Longer listening.
QC45 headphones have more listening time than their predecessor, with up to 24 hours from a single charge. They charge via USB-C in up to 2.5 hours. In a hurry? Just a 15-minute charge offers up to 3 hours of play time. Or plug in the included audio cable and listen for longer in wired mode.
Comfort
An icon. Refined.
Everything that made the original headphones iconic is still there—just updated. Like a refined design with smooth cushions and earcup caps, crafted from one piece for a clean look. The pair’s plush synthetic leather, impact-resistant glass-filled nylon and custom cast-metal hinges were all chosen for their comfort and durability. Add in minimal clamping force and you might even forget you still have them on.
High-fidelity audio
Acoustic architecture adds depth and fullness. Volume-optimised Active EQ keeps it all balanced.
Really clear calls
Four tiny mics focus on your voice while the noise-rejecting algorithm filters out other sounds.
Powerful battery life
This pair offers more play time than their predecessor—24 hours of listening from one charge.
Truly wireless
Bluetooth 5.1 provides a strong, reliable connection to your device within 9.1 metres.
Simple setup
Find guided setup, get tips and personalise your settings in the app.
Synthetic leather on the earcup cushions and the top of the headband makes this luxurious pair comfortable enough for all-day wearing.

Superb, used it only for a short while
Great quality sound and very comfy to wea
Sound quality excellent
Noise cancellation must have.
Battery life very good.
Really comfortable to wear.
Brought these for my son. An affordable pair of headphones. High quality excellent noise cancelling. Very sturdy. Highly recommend. AffordBle option instead of Apple.
Brilliant sound and very comfy to wear. The best ever! Thank you Bose.
Noise cancellation is fab
I wear glasses and i can wear these headphones for HOURS
Can wear them for a whole day and they’re so comfy
Sound quality is really really good (i like how you can increase bass)
Battery life is class
Highly recommend
Definitely worth spending the money on. I bought a cheap set of Sony ones and quickly like within a week decided that they were not good enough and I needed to replace with some Bose. I had a pair before and these are just as good.
I was blown away by the noise cancelling! Sound quality is top tier and the colour of the headphone themselves is very cool
I bought these Headphones to replace an earlier model, wow, what a difference in Quality and noise cancellation.
I love these headphones! They are so light and comfortable you can barely feel them on your head. You can control them via the app. The sound is perfect (especially for serial killers podcast). Thank you!
Not sure what else I can say. Amazing headphones. Brilliant noise cancellation, crystal clear quality. Lovely item.
Im really enjoying these headphones, they are making me fall in love with music again, also the noise cancellation is great on public transport it helps to reduce my anxiety of crowded noisy places and the mobile app really helps to control the headphones.
Not paid so much for headphones before but you obviously can tell the difference straight away. Noise cancelling is excellent and the sound is top notch.
I was tempted by a Christmas offer to buy these noise cancelling headphones and delighted with the outcome. I have other Bose Products so expected them to be Quality. Great sound quality when listening to music, easy to wear without getting to hot on the ears and the noise cancelling is fabulous. When the Grandchildren get to noisy I wear them in Quiet mode as it blocks out all external sound
Bose for a long time have built a good reputation for high end quality speakers, systems and headphones.
These are amazing audiophile headphones.
They look great and sound even better than they look.
Clear bass with their midrange being their strength. Higher frequencies are very clear as the lower and mid range are well balanced to make the overall experience very good, producing a natural sound. These headphones are full of impressive tech which you’d expect for the money, but I bought them for the impressive listening experience.
Woo is a gift for hubby ,he love it the smile on his face when he opens it , he was gobsmacked .he keep saying woo .glad I made his day .
Very comfortable to wear quality is outstanding and are worth the money.
Good sound quality, plastic but good design, buttons feel a bit flimsy. There is a significant amount of noise leakage especially above medium volume (iPhone user)
A fantastic pair of headphones, the materials feel premium. They live up to their name in terms of comfort as well
The key part though is how do they sound? They sound superb, right on the money sonically. There’s great separation between highs, mids and lows. Vocals are clear and crisp and the lower end has sufficient thump for all listeners.
The noise cancellation is superb, amongst the best on the market, however just a shade less impressive than the Sony Wh-1000xm4
Overall I’m really impressed with these but are they going to replace my Sony’s? I’m afraid not, not because there’s anything wrong with them certainly, it’s simply out of preference
Most of the music I listen to, hip-hop, RnB, Dance has a heavy bass line and I just prefer the Sony sound signature for that kind of music.
Sound is objective, it’s really down to what you like to hear and the Sony profile suits my tastes, no doubt plenty will prefer the delivery of the Bose
Would highly recommend these, regardless of taste they’re a superb headphone and won’t disappoi
Battery life could be better but a great product none the less
I am a true devotee of Bose headphones, they are fabulously good at what they do. If you are travelling, at home, out walking they are equally at home in all scenarios. 5 stars plus from me.
The Bose QC SE are actually the QC 45 model supplied with a soft carrying case, knocking about 40 off the price. This represents great value but you will need to buy a hard case if these are travelling phones.
I’ve had the wired Bose QC 25 headphones for the last 10 years or so and they have travelled on countless long haul flights pre Covid. I thought I’d invest in the new SE as an upgrade with Bluetooth wireless connection. I user only Apple products – iPhone, iPad and Macbook. I will consider Comfort, Sound & Noise Cancelling, and Features.
Comfort: I have a small head so they fit without much stretch and on the lowest headband setting. Comfort is superb. Fit is great, tight but not feeling clamped. I could wear for hours whereas other headphones feel cramped and sweaty. A+
Sound: Bose are known for a balanced, ‘natural’ sound that frustrates bass heads. Low, mid and high are all good and sound stage is moderate. They provide an easy going, all round sound that means you can listen to music, speech, movies easily for hours. The sound was not really better than my ancient QC 25s. A B for sound, and an A for noise cancelling.
Features: Easy to use without over burdening with too many buttons and controls. A slider switch for ON and OFF is so much better than a button you have to hold down. A button toggles active noise cancelling and a transparency/hear through mode. This combination works well for me, and keeps everything simple. A phone app gives basic EQ changes. Multipoint for switching between 2 devices worked without problem. Some people prefer a lot more control and customisation but I prefer the Bose ‘keep it simple’ style. A.
So I give A+, B. A, A.
I could not justify the expense as an upgrade from my wired QC 25s, as the comfort, sound and noise cancelling were not hugely improved. Only for this reason will I return them. If you don’t have an older model such as the 25 or 35 series and want not fuss, quality, comfortable headphones – I would recommend the Bose SE at the new price saving deal.
Like some others wasn’t sure on SE as not much info out there, basically they are the QC45 but with a soft case (which for me is no issue). For the blackfriday price 189.00 it’s a no brainer – IMO there is no better alternative unless you start looking at top end Sony/Sennheiser/B&W all in the 300+ price range !
Great sound quality (a bit high on treble for my preference but can be adjusted via app), noise cancelling superb, extremely comfortable.
For clarity – this review is for the SE version.
I can confirm the exact model of the headphones themselves is QC45 – this is how they show up in the app when you connect them to a phone. They come with 2.5mm to 3.5mm lead and usb-c charging lead as well as a compact soft sided case.
In terms of what they are like, I think they are excellent headphones. The best I have ever used. The specific reasons I bought this model over others I considered is:
– physical buttons to turn on and off and adjust volume
– collapsible design that makes them compact to travel
– excellent noise cancelling.
In terms of how I find them, my main summary would be:
– Very comfortable to wear
– Noise cancelling is great for my purposes (which are concentrating on reading/work in noisy environments) – it does not block everything but if listening to music it takes something quite loud to disturb you.
– Sound is good to the extent that it is making me go back through lots of old music to listen again. There is a lot of detail in the sound and a sense of separation of instruments and vocal that I find captivating. Out of the box the EQ was tuned a little ‘wrong’ for my taste with a little too much mid and treble but this was easily rectified in the EQ section of the app and now it is great. I did consider the Sony XM5’s as the whole internet seems o say they are best headphones of this type but I have not had great experiences with Sony’s previously in terms of their sound – I find they have a bass heavy slightly muddy ‘Sony’ sound. I tried out some in John Lewis and wasn’t convinced. I like the sound of these Bose headphones more but I realise this is a wholly subjective personal perspective.
– Very compact in the case which is ideal for me as I carry them around on a daily basis.
I am very pleased overall.
The QuietComfort 45 has been widely recognized as class leading in terms of comfort since launch. This model often places first or second among similarly priced headphones (~300).
Now, the QuietComfort ‘SE’ brings the same headphones in a cheaper package!
At time of writing this review, the QuietComfort ‘SE’ is listed at 189.99 (Black Friday 2022 season). The QuietComfort SE is exactly the same device as the QuietComfort 45 model – the only difference is that it comes with a soft neoprene case instead of a harder leather/pleather covered case.
With the QuietComfort 45 being a class leader at 300, at 195 it becomes an absolute no-brainer if you are in the market for a set of noise cancelling headphones.
Above being said, the soft case isn’t great. The soft case has a ‘half zip’, which goes around the top and one side, making it more of a ‘sleeve’ type case rather than the hard cases where the zip goes almost the whole way around the case, allowing it to open like a book.
I think that the soft case will protect the headphones from scratches adequately, but it will offer none of the crush protection of the hard case.
On the other hand, the soft case is significantly slimmer than the hard case, which may be a significant plus depending on your use case.
All things considered, my recommendation would be to purchase the QuietComfort SE, and then if you find that the soft case won’t meet your needs, consider buying just the case to have that option. At time of writing, the price difference betwen QuietComfort 45 and QuietComfort SE listing is around 75, and hard cases are available on various sites in the region of 10-20.
To emphasise the key point, the QuietComfort SE is the same device as the QuietComfort 45. It comes with the same cables (1.5mm to 2.5mm and usb-c to usb-c), and registers as a QuietComfort 45 in the Bose App. Literally the only difference between the listings is the case.
Got these to use on london transport. Tired of screaming kids, loud people etc. I mainly listen to audio books on them but also music. I was amazed at how much noise the train actually makes, one gets so used to it. The feeling of relaxation was indescribable when the bulk of the noise got muted. You still hear stuff, and there is a button to press to switch between Aware/silent modes – when you need to hear announcements. Another fear i had was that my head would be too small for these large headphones but its fine! No pressure on my ears, i dont want them squished- that hurts after a while. These barely touch my ears. Hubby has beats. These are better.
This is the second pair that I have bought, originally in readiness for a long haul flight, but used at home in the interim. They cut out nearly all background sound while offering high quality audio, with rich base and crisp mid/high tones. battery life is excellent, and connections to my iPhone and laptop were very easy
I can’t wait for the holiday to try them out in their natural environme
I’ve been using these for a week now and I’m honestly shocked every time I put them on at how good they actually are! They connect to two devices at the same time (iPhone and Mac) and switch seamlessly between them, way better than any Apple Airpods.
The noise cancellation is the best I’ve ever used, the battery life great, aware mode is easy to use and makes me feel safer walking around the street with them on.
I spent a lot of time researching different models and brands and I could not recommend these headphones enough!
I use these headphones when I’m watching my television. The noise cancelling features are top notch.
However the battery is now built-in, whereas my previous Bose headphones used an AAA battery. The single AAA battery would last around two weeks, but this inbuilt battery lasts just two days (regardless of whether I’m using Bluetooth or listening via a cable).
Also, the smartphone app needed to set up and manage/adjust the audio is useless when using the headphones to listen to any other device (TV, hifi etc) so rather a kinda pointless selling point.
For me, the sound quality from anything Bose is a given where music is concerned. As expected I was more than happy with that. But I also wanted to use these for watching TV and the clarity, richness and depth of sound far exceeded my previous headphones, in fact, I think I’d probably prefer using these even when it’s not required.
An added plus is the level of comfort. These sit very easily and snugly on my head and being a glasses wearer I had no issues at all with that aspect, these are so comfortable that you just don’t even feel them against the arms of your glasses.
Connecting to my TV was straightforward. I haven’t had any issues with connectivity and although i’ve downloaded the Bose app, I haven’t yet looked into that. The supplied hard shell case will easily protect these as well.
These charged pretty quickly, I didn’t time it but they charged fully in around 90-120 minutes at a guess.
My only small gripe is the instructions are a little lacking. I know it’s pretty easy to guess as to which button does what but you’d think there’d be something supplied to confirm it. But as I said, it’s a minor, picky gripe. I do also wish the charging cable was a bit longer.
Overall, 10/10, i’d buy these again without hesitation. Fantastic sound quality, comfort, it just ticks all the boxes. Wonderful!
Bought this as I have a new job involving foreign travel. Having tried them at home, with young children and two dogs I knew they were going to be ace! Super comfortable, easy to set up and use. The buttons are real and easy to find/use whilst on your head. Connecting two devices is seamless, I use a pixel and a Samsung tablet. Sound is amazing I watch rings of power on tablet using these rather than my telly!
The active button allows you to get more background noise if you need it, eg in airport terminal waiting in announcements.
I used this on a recent flight and in a busy airport it blocked out all but the closest loudest sound. On the plane it was calming and awesome.
Best buy in the last two years of any gadget since my MacBook Pro! Don’t doubt get these worth the investment!
Oh and battery life excellent too four days away with work and not charged.
The deep bass is particularly great. The noise cancelling is superb and there is also an ‘aware mode’ to let in outside sounds when needed. The headphones work in conjunction with the Bose Music app for settings and this also provides firmware updates for the headphones. You can also use the headphones for calls.
I had an older pair of Bose QC15s that I gifted on, and was looking for a new wireless replacement. I looked at the usual suspects in this arena – the SONY XM range, the Apple AirPod Max, and of course the Bose QC/NC range. I immediately discounted the SONY XM5 and Bose NC700 purely on the fact that they don’t fold, nor do I care much for the looks. The touch controls put me off as well.
To be clear, I’m no audiophile. In priority order, for me its:
– Comfort
– ANC
– Audio quality
I don’t like loads of bass that shakes my head, preferring a clean, balanced sound, and don’t really care for having countless configuration options in an app either. Nor do I use my headphones that much around the house, their primary purchase being to reduce the constant drone when traveling on planes and trains. Beyond that they are there for when I need them.
If you read up too much, like I did, you end up with a big list of reasons to support the purchase of any of those headphones I listed. You’ll read good on all, and you’ll read bad on all, although I will say that for most people, the XM4s are going to be a great buy for most people, being relatively cheap, USB-C, with variable ANC, and a good EQ. I tried them – just not for me. Too much bass, which sounded terrible when tuned out, not as comfy as my QC15s, and far too dependent on the companion app.
These QC45s are, without doubt, the most comfortable pair of headphones I’ve ever owned. They sit perfectly over my ears and don’t touch them anywhere. They are light, foldable, and you almost forget you are wearing them. That’s the first requirement ticked.
The ANC is significantly better in comparison to my QC15s, especially at reducing the higher frequencies. Given that I was happy with the QC15s in that regard, this was an easy tick in the box. Others may be “better”, but I simply don’t care about all the different aware modes or variable this and that. Just want to switch them on, drown out the outside world as much as possible, and immerse myself in the music or whatever it is I’m listening to.
At this price point, you are not going to get a “bad” sounding pair of headphones. Any differences and nuances are down to personal preference. Some like a load of bass, some like a more neutral sound, some want absolutely perfect studio reproduction. For me, these fall somewhere in the middle. I will agree, without the recent firmware update that added the EQ, the QC45s did sound a little light on bass and heavy on treble. However, that’s now fixed, so with a couple of notches up on the bass and a couple down on the treble, the sound is, for me, perfectly adequate to my ears. The bass is punchy enough to hear it without it shaking your head and causing fatigue.
People can hate on Bose all they like, just as people will hate on Apple. At the end of the day I buy products based on my needs, and these just live up to their name – QuietComfort. Sure, trying headphones side-by-side it’s easy to pick out differences, but in isolation, these are objectively a very good pair of wireless active noise cancelling headphones that, for me, do everything promised of them.
As for battery life…given that I come from needing to use a AAA battery in my old headphones, 25 hours between charges is a huge amount of time. Yep, others last longer, but I’m sorry, if 25 hours isn’t enough, you’ve got much bigger problems in life than this first world issue!
I did say its the most comfortable headphone ever! & connected straight in my iPhone on bose app, the sound quality seems fully loaded because its well balance i did tweak a little on my own equaliser but it didn’t need much adjustment because i couldn’t fault it! Loud enough to hear everything! So ive made it sounds warm & saved the setting except wearing other headphones which i has to adjust alot! As I keep changing tracks because some can be too distorted on the bass till i get it right but the bose coped well with any music! But I enjoyed it & not too fussy no wonder the bose outdid other good headphones I’ve owned like the sony 1000 xm4 i used to like but distort on the bass! Its competitive between the 2, its ok for some people? We all have different listening level for our tastes so the bose stood out the best in my opinion maybe im too generous? But suits me! & its worth buying because I’ve tried many others never made me happy enough until the bose got it just right!
I bought these to replace an older Bose noise cancelling model but was a little put off by some of the negative reviews, particularly around the noise cancellation causing static hisses.
I’ve had no such problems; I’m pretty impressed with the noise cancellation. I’ve been using them outdoors in windy weather, some reviews said that’s where they really fail — it’s been behaving great. I’ve had neighbours blasting their music in their gardens and with mine playing I can’t hear it at all, and even between songs it almost entirely blocks it out.
At one point I swapped to “aware” mode and heard a buzzing sound, and was suspicious having read reviews, but then I took them off and realised the buzzing sound was background noise from outside which they had been completely eliminating until I switched to aware mode.
Overall sound quality is just as good as my last pair, which is very good.
I had considered Sony, which is currently the ‘best of 2022’ in reviews, but they were a little bass heavy at their default setting for me. People say that Bose has a ‘Bose sound’ and therefore you either like it or don’t, but for me it’s sensational. Where I found bass boomy, on the Bose its punchy. The detail is outstanding right across the dynamic range. Put your music on and you have a whole new listening experience, with detail in many songs I’d not heard before. They are comfortable, very easy to to set up (via an extremely good app) and just do the job well. With a great battery life and quick charging, they are perfect for what I want. Very pleased with them
I generally love BOSE, had Bose 35II and bought 45 relaying on at least the same quality. And I love the sound quality and noise canceling features as well as the new aware mode. However, I wasn’t impressed by the quality of the product during the calls whether phone or online Teams calls. People either hear me well, but at many times struggle hearing at all. So will be predominantly using it for audio/music listening, which is great fit. Love the color of soapstone
Firstly I use Bose sportsbuds for when I’m hiking or walking my dog. I love them .
These are a step up in sound quality. Also I use an IPhone with Apple Music.
I will therefore review and recommend based on that set up critique the some of the poorer reviews on Amazon.
Use the Bose music app with its EQ. Turn the Apple Music EQ off as 2 can conflict.
Set bass to 5-6. Set mid to 3-4. Set treble to 8-9. Perfect sound like a gig or a club. No drama no moans no childish tantrums about privacy..the technology is there to help. Remember there’s a difference between smart and smart-ass.
Noise cancellation: I’m in my kitchen writing this review while my washing machine is on a 1100 spin .. i can’t here it, therefore the technology works. Seemples
To anyone unhappy with these headphones I suggest you need to train your ears to how music is actually meant to sound. Hi hats snares keyboards bass and guitars all blend beautifully . If you want to listen to music on cheap radio sound settings, use a cheap radio with 20 headphones. Don’t buy 300 headphones designed to emulate a recording studio.
In short for the money and with adjustable EQ emulation these are damn near perfect for most people.
I thoroughly recommend this product, it is not defective in way . Wonderful wonderful sound comparable to a gig or a club.
I’ve resisted buying noise-cancelling headphones for years because they were “too expensive.” I’d have happily paid twice as much for these. I’m not kidding when I say they’ve changed my life.
I am unable to filter out background noise, and I’ve been driven to tears, rage, and yelling impotently at neighbours who can’t hear me over their power tools many times—no more!
These headphones are amazing. They filter out all that excess noise, leaving me with the gentle sound of summer rain falling through my ears. I’ve been able to focus better on my work since I bought these than ever before. Even on quiet days, they create a little isolation bubble which, for me, works wonders.
And when I want to listen to music—wow, I never knew headphones could sound so rich.
They’re comfortable even after a couple of hours—even wearing glasses.
And the battery lasts for days and days.
Top notch 10/10 would recommend.
I have been a massive fan of QC35 (MK1 ), having skipped MK2 and 700s – I decided to blind buy this model.
Qc35s was a mega hit,it was extremely hard to beat. The QC35 series 2 was barely an upgrade and 700s were somewhat of a marmite of Bose due to comfort issues.
Comfort – clue is in the name.
QC45 is the modern 2021 evolution of QC35 – it is still the most comfiest pair of cans on the market, cloud feel, ultra refined – never mind airpods max or Sonys XM4s as I have tried these in the past – just outstanding and I have a 59cm large noggin.
Audio – the treble, clarity and highs all take the spotlight – crystal clear, but not overly bright – just right.
Acoustic instruments are show stoppers here along with vocals – balanced and natural.
No fancy codecs support here (aptxhd etc).
The soundstage is expanded much more so than Qc35s, excellent wide reaching stereo with decent positioning and imaging.
The base is punchier and refined but not for bass heads (not a Bose signature anyway) than my qc35s
The Bose music app is very simple and intuitive.
The microphone call quality is noise cancelled and clear especially when used in public noisy places or trains/planes, perhaps close to the 700s but not quite there.
Overall this is a solid upgrade over the 35s with a quick charge to boot via USB-C
Thumbs up from me
Update – ANC is a few notches stronger than QC35, especially when it comes to things like children screaming, sirens etc – this is definitely a big plus.
The Aware mode is simple but not as intuitive as XM4 as a button press is required (no touch controls here, which for me is an advantage when using gloves etc)
Excellent range with BT5.1 – even longer than QC35 – 0 dropouts, no latency/lag with movies and Youtube.
Battery life around 24 hours with ANC on – perfect !
