I’ve never got on with electric shavers in the past, always prefer a wet shave and found most electric shavers don’t come close to a razor and take ages to get your face even slightly smooth, this however was a breath of fresh air, after the first initial charge i sat on the edge of the bed and started my shave, in less than 2 minutes my face and neck was probably 98% as close as a blade, no irritation or missed spots, really impressed.
Looked at more expensive shavers but for my growth that’s s does the job every day. Not as close as wet shaver but keeps my growth in check. A charge lasts a week or more. Need to buy a carrying case and will buy from Amazon.
One small quibble: my bathroom cabinet now has a USB power point in it. I’ve subsequently bought a USB power cable to charge my new shaver (from Amazon for just a few pounds) but I don’t really understand why this shaver doesn’t come with a USB lead in addition to the standard charger cable that’s included.
Smooth, sharp and effective
Takes a bit of getting used too after a wet razor, and you have to go over the stubble several times in various directions to get the best shave.

When comparing the closeness of the shave, the Panasonic outclasses the Braun considerably for me. However, the Braun is better in every other way.
I always shave in the shower. The Panasonic is about twice the cost of the Braun. I have owned 4 Panasonic Es-LV65 and each has lasted around 18 months before going faulty. Whilst cost was one issue, it was the amount of electrical waste that made me switch to the Braun and its 5 year warranty. The Braun is easier to clean and stil looks brand new after 6 months. The battery life is good. I wish it beeped when the battery is low as it has ran out a few times as i hadn’t noticed the indicator. It is quieter and the build quality is better than the Panasonic. I think I may buy a higher Braun razer and see if the cut is better as the cut on the s5 is only ok, but everything else about it is good.
The battery charge lasts for more than a week (for now), very helpful when travelling.

I can’t complain at all. When it arrived the battery was dead so I thought put it on charge for a couple of hours……… Oh no 15 minutes maybe less and it was fully charged. The price of blades these days I will soon have my money back. Again brilliant !!
The unboxing experience was more thrilling than the climax of a mystery novel. As I unveiled the Braun Series 5, it felt like the heavens themselves were handing me the grooming keys to paradise. But, as they say, with great facial hair removal comes great responsibility, or in my case, hilarity.
This shaving masterpiece came with an EasyClick Body Groomer Attachment, turning me into a grooming maestro. I thought I’d test it out on a date, thinking a smooth face equals a smooth date. Instead, I accidentally clicked the body groomer attachment and ended up with the smoothest chest in the restaurant. My date was less impressed and more bewildered by my impromptu striptease.
Next up, using it with the parents. My dad, thinking it’s just a regular shaver, decided to give it a whirl. Long story short, I walked in on him in the kitchen, reenacting a shaving scene from an ’80s action movie. The neighbors now think we’re filming a low-budget action flick in our living room.
And, oh, the pice de rsistance: using it at work. In a misguided attempt to multitask, I brought it to the office. Turns out, shaving at your desk doesn’t impress your boss; it just gets you a pink slip faster than you can say “Rated Which Best Buy.” Unemployment never looked so smooth and hairless.
Now, onto the perks: this shaver has magically transformed my love life. I’m now a magnet for potential partners who can’t resist the charm of a freshly shaven man. The secret? The Braun Series 5 makes me so irresistibly smooth that swimsuit models are now flooding my DMs. Forget dating apps; apparently, all you need is a sharp shaver and a questionable life story.

Originally not hugely impressed but i have adapted my shaving style and unlike my beard, this has grown on me.
Power is great. Lasts a month or more on a single charge.
Not as close as a wet shave but closer than any other electric razor ive owned or used.
The daily ease of use and convenience make up for the lack of closeness.
Although i dry shave, it doesnt make my face dry and there’s no irritation.
All in all, im happy with the purchase.

After reading the reviews I thought this would be better. Not a very close shave if dry and if I lather up it’s better but not as good as a razor.
If I have to use gel or foam then I may as well wet shave with a razor.
I’ll give it a couple more days but I may end up returning it.
1. it can’t achieve a razor sharp straight line, e.g. trimming sideburns neatly
2. the fact that the rounded attachment is somewhat inset means it’s difficult to get close to e.g. in front of your ear, or directly under the nose.
Other than those minor points, this is an excellent product at a fantastic price. Highly recommended.
Replacing a 12 year old Panasonic foil shave which was great (never even replaced the foils in 12 year!) I only needed to replace it because I dropped it foil-down.
Last week I thought I’d try something different and tried a Philips Series 3000 rotary shaver and it was terrible. Gutless, really uneven shave and took ages and ended up irritating my skin. The trimmer was also really annoying as it kept folding down. For the same money, quite a contrast to this far superior shaver. I can’t believe these two products are the same price!
What a find
I’ve always struggled over the years to find an electric shaver that does even a fairly reasonable job. This shaver puts them all to shame. For the first time ever, I’ve got a really good shave. It’s easy to use, recharge and clean and fits in the hand quite well.
After previously ordering what I thought was a genuine Braun foil and it not even giving a good shave after one use. I then ordered with these and made sure it was a genuine one. Not disappointed. Delivered on time and no problems at all with use. I shave every day and still as good. Deffo recommend
I bought a new Braun shaver,series 5 recently and opted for a spare cartridge because they are becoming pricey.With brauns known reliability this replacement head will be up to standard and will work as well as its predecessor.Recommend.
his is a really good shaver i have always been a rotary shaver fan before trying this one. needless to say will not be going back to a rotary this braun shaver gives and excellent shave and is easy to keep clean.

Got this for my son, as he is very scared of shaving with a razor, read all the reviews and it seemed to fit the bill, he was very pleased with it and that’s what matters. He doesn’t use gel so no need to wet it.
Glad I purchased this shaver I do not use it all the time as I like a wet shave but it does the job when you need a fast shave and you can keep it in your pocket or car great for getting to look better when shaved if in a hurry makes you feel good. great piece of handy kit well done Braun.
Factory replacement part takes a second or so to fit. My only complaint wasn’t about the part itself,but I found it fiddly to cancel the red warning light that head needed replacing as fitting the new one doesn’t cancel it .After pressing the button a few times it eventually went off- surely there must be a better solution .
It was nearly 50 years ago when my Philishave went wrong. I borrowed my father’s razor, soap and brush, and had never shaved any other way until a recent chin injury made it impossible to run a blade across the damaged area. I know Braun have a good reputation and after looking into their various models, decided that the Series 5, at 70 was probably the best value for my needs. After a week of use and learning a new technique, I’m very pleased to find how much better this is than my old shaver. It feels well made & balanced, comfortable on the skin and shaves much closer to my razor than I had expected. I have only used it for dry shaving and feel no need to do otherwise. My razor and brush could be shelved for good.
Battery charges quick and lasts a decent amount of time. It takes a few extra strokes compared to my previous shaver for a smooth shave but it feels safer to use.
A great shaver. I’ve used Braun shavers for years and this one is even better tham my last one. It shaves close quite quickly and the trimmer is good for sideboards.
I kept getting shaving cuts – I have a kind of tremor – and thought it was time to get an electric shaver, but was having a problem pressing the ‘buy’ button with a 300 price tag for a same-make series 7 shaver. Then I found I could get of these series 5 ones for 150, then Amazon suggested this one for half that!
It is very easy to use. I use it dry. It does not give shave as close a wet shave, but my beard is very coarse. it’s pretty good and I’m more than happy with it.
I’m surprised at how useful and easy to use this is. I’ve got into the habit of not shaving until my face gets too scratchy and it was taking a lot of time, effort and discomfort to ratch through the resulting undergrowth with Gillette razors.
I’ve tried electric razors back in the olden days and wasn’t at all impressed. With this, I put the strimmer head on and get through the stubble, swap heads and do a proper shave and it’s all done in a couple of minutes.
Battery life seems good, the unit is easy to clean and I got it at a really good price.
Overall very happy.
My Philips shaver died recently. I’ve had Philips shavers for many years. This Braun shaver was a Which? Best Buy and I thought I’d give it a go for a change. I must say I really like it. It wasn’t overly expensive and the battery is now into its third week and still showing two bars out of three (yes, it shows the battery status). It’s dead easy to clean. So, yes, I’m very pleased with it.
As life-time user of cheap shavers I was blown away by the difference in quality between my usual, cheap alternatives and a branded shaver. Cleaner, closer and quicker. There’s actually less irritation because you don’t have to keep going over the same area. It cuts it right first time. I am changed for life. Drop you cheap razer and feel the difference.

This is my fifth Braun in 60 years of shaving; and it’s the best yet!! really good styling and it fits my face and my hands well. The only minor , and I MEAN minor, issue is that one has to change the head to get the trimmer. No big deal.
I have to say they’ve fixed all the problems there used to be with electric razors. In order of importance:
1. It actually gives a good shave without ripping your skin to shreds. Not quite as good as a wet shave, but close enough that I don’t have to go over with a razor. I haven’t tried it as a wet razor but I don’t really see the point of doing that.
2. It’s a doddle to clean. I once had a Phillips that took far longer to clean than to have a shave. The Braun just opens up, you knock it clean, you can run it under the tap. Seconds later you’re good to go.
3. Ergonomically it really needs no improvement. It looks good, it feels right in the hand, not heavy and, as above, easy to maintain.
The one downside that loses the star:
It has a two pin plug charger. In 2022? What a faff in the UK. They just needed to give it a USB charger and it would have been perfect.

I’ve always used cheap clippers for both my beard and head, they have always let me down, broken after a couple of months or died half way through the shave. However I was recommended this device by a friend, it’s INCREDIBLE. It’s smooth, it’s quick, it’s easy to use, easy to hold, it’s reliable, has a great battery life and is just brilliant! I’d recommend this to anyone
Only changing to to trimmer head bit of a pai
Replaces a series 9 that I have had for 10 years but costing almost 3 times as much. I don’t have a thick beard, and this razor appears to be no different in performance at a third of the cost. Don’t use the sideboard trimmer, have another trimmer for that.
Bought this as a Xmas present. Partner loves it. Finds it easy to handle and clean. No looseparts flying off.
not wanting to spend too much in case i didn’t get on well with it we settled on a braun series 5
knowing i was getting it for xmas and wanting to give it the best chance I decided to have a wet shave on xmas eve and use the shaver the very next day to keep on top of any growth
this biggest thing Ive found my chin didn’t feel like my chin it felt odd not in a bad way just different and on boxing day I went a bit mad with it and had 4 shaves in a day which caused me to have a razer burn
the only other downside was before I would only shave once every 10 or so days and now shaving every day I found my face was dry so I bought some aftershave balm which quickly cleared it up
but I am so impressed by it
my routine is when I wake up I turn on my pc and while reading emails in the space of 2 mins I’ve had a shave its as quick as any razer as I don’t allow any growth to build up and not used a razer for around 2 weeks now

I wasn’t planning to buy a new shaver but just replace the foil head of my existing Panasonic. I then saw an excellent rating by Which for the Series 5 and realised that buying a new one from Amazon would only cost 25 more than a new shaver head. I decided to buy one and am delighted with my purchase. The Series 5 is certainly the best electric shaver I have ever used, giving a really close cut on a par with a good wet shave but without any mess. It is very comfortable to hold and the only slight downside is the need to change the shaver head for the supplied trimmer if you need to use it.
Got this as I was fed up with missing bits when shaving. Having used this (for just over a month) I wondered why I waited so long! I still use shaving Gel (you can obviously use it wet or dry) as I wanted to get that feeling of a wet shave without the hassle of using razor blades. It is a bit messy but I will carry on as (I believe) you will get a closer shave however it’s very much a personal thing anyway. Unsure of the battery life as I haven’t been using it very long but overall very pleased with the product (especially not having to keep buying spare blades but I will need to get a spare for this one!). Recommended.
I have been tempted for years but was always put off by reviews that said it didn’t compare to a razor. They are wrong! It compares very well, face feels very smooth. Perhaps the stubble appears an hour earlier – but it’s really very good. Running hot water to my bathroom used a lot of water – now I don’t need it! And no foam in my ears!
Bit disappointed to learn that I’ll need a new cutting head every 18 months (35-40) but let’s see how it pans out.
Only marked down a star, as I`m used to a flip up trimmer. Other than that, it`s great.
This is my first waterproof shaver and it is great not having problems with leads being too short. Battery life seems OK but a little on the short side for my preference. The lead supplied for re-charging is a 2-pin plug which is a pain because I have to use an adapter plug. Overall I am very happy with the shaver, but I have not tested the waterproofness yet!
Clean shave used daily. Longer two or three days I needed to keep it off my face until bristles were shortened. Otherwise good machine.
Changed my Philishave for this model Braun and am very pleased with it so far. Just remains to see how long the cutting blades stay sharp for.
I find this a bit too light, more weight would stay closer to the face. It does the job at half price, battery life is good.
I prefer the slide up clipper of my previous model. But this was much cheaper than that. You get what you pay for, who knew?
This Series 5 is nowhere near as good as the 5140. It doesn’t pivot, the battery doesn’t last as long, and there’s no slide out trimmer. The whole thing feels like it’s deliberately designed to fit into a marketing line up where it can’t be too good and potentially cannibalise sales of Series 7s.
But, it’s very comfortable to hold. That sacrificed battery life means it’s lighter; and I’m managing to get a nice close shave despite the fixed head. The easy clean system seems to work pretty well too.
