Great watch that is always on time and has the bonus that uses a small ami
Lunt of daylight to keep it running. Easy to read and not a great large lump on your wrist.
Very good quality, excellent time keeping, I could set my watch by it !
I return this watch so unable to comment I really was looking for rectangular in citizen watch which is very hard to find what I’m looking for watch makers seem to go by fashion all the watches are round big n very bulky to wea
A smart-looking watch without all the complications and expense of these multipurpose things linked to mobile phones. It keeps good time and has no batteries to change or charge.
Nice looking watch and good quality leather strap which makes all the difference. Haven’t had it long enough to comment on long term accuracy but from past experience with Citizen should be ok.
I was given one of these over ten years ago and it has never failed me, still looks great. So I purchased one now to make sure I am never without one as mine needs a professional clean.
Very nice watch, very stylish. Works perfectly and keeps accurate time. Very helpful company. Recommended purchase.
Lovely looking watch. Citizen Eco is a fab brand and this was a really good price. Citizen guarantee and registration form is included.
Arrived really fast, nice watch, came in a lovely box, very pleased.
This watch is superb and keeps good time. If you wear a large watch please bear in mind that it is a little smaller than the average watch. Check the dimensions in the product specifications.
Nice elegant watch.keeps perfect timing.the leather strap is a bit too rigid to my liking, so I may replace the strap with a more soft one.
Superb. Everything I wanted. Every bit as good as my other watches.
Excellent supplier, arrived on time, cannot ask for more, Thanks
Perfect gift for my dad from my mum on an anniversary. Works great & looks lovely. A brilliant buy, would definitely recommend it.
Very pleased with this watch, my husband loves it. Many thanks
Delighted! It arrived very quickly, and is being worn and appreciated daily!
Very nice slim watch. Looks good on. I cant see the day and date in the window..its to small but not bothered I still like this watch. Just be careful if you want this watch to see the day and date.
I received this as a present and I am delighted with it for three reasons: solar powered (so no more batteries), quartz accuracy & reliability as it comes highly recommended by other members of my family who also own Citizen eco-drive watches.
Of course all watches are a bit subjective when it comes to design, but for me I wanted a gold case, a real leather strap, an uncluttered easy to read white face (actually I would describe it as brilliant white in natural daylight and pearly white in artificial light), a second sweep hand & a day/date display (which I can read without my reading glasses). And this ticks all the boxes.
Bought for my husband’s birthday. Easy to set up and no batteries to worry about. Looks smart. He is very pleased with it so far.
Received my watch earlier this afternoon. It is exactly as described and looks a high quality item. I was very pleased to read that, if I registered the guarantee on line, it would be extended from five years to six. The watch was simple to set up and is comfortable on the wrist. The strap fits well and looks good too. I am obviously unable to comment on the accuracy or reliability of the watch at this stage; but first impressions are very positive.
13 November. Update. I have now owned the watch for almost six months. It keeps perfect time and looks as good as the day I received it. The strap too is still looking like new.
Final update. I have now owned the watch for almost a year. It still keeps perfect time and looks as good as the day I bought it and that includes the strap. I wear it all day every day, despite the occasional guilty glance at my (more expensive) Swiss watches sitting in a drawer.
Love it.
Despite previous “Final” update; I couldn’t resist saying that I have now owned the watch for five years. It looks as good as the day I received it and keeps perfect time.
This is the 3rd citizen eco. Drive I have got I bought this one as it is just plain but still a nice looking watch
A brilliant watch with an elegant face. Very accurate and no regular replacement batteries required. It’ll be interesting though to see how long the internal rechargeable cell lasts – nothing is really for ever! Beware though, this watch comes in several alternative faces and I received a different one to that I thought I had ordered. It’s too good a product to send it back though. One day I’ll buy another with the correct face too.
From ordering to receiving watch was very quick. Watch is just what I needed .Settiing it to correct day and date was very easy and soon done. Very pleased with it.
excellent value for money good and easy to see watch face very good quality strap . time and date bit difficult to set up but once up and running can be read easily
Great watch, good value, though 6 moths later the strap is looking very worn and i may replace the strap.
No problems with it otherwise
I was put off by some of the negative reviews, so did not order for a long while. But my existing quartz, twelve years old, although it keeps excellent time, often runs out, always just when I am far away from any possibility of a replacement. I was so taken with the concept of no battery to change – ever – that I recently went ahead and spoiled myself for my birthday.
This is a fine watch – elegant appearance, apparently well made, keeps perfect time and is excellent value for money. The most serious negative reviews appear to be due to either not reading, or not understanding, the instructions, which are not very good. Surely Citizen could get a watchmaker, an artist and an English graduate to sit down for an hour together and prepare a clearly understandable, accurate description of how to set the watch. Or put a video on youtube (oh, I may be an old fart, but I’m with it !!)
He who complained about the days being in “Spanish” apparently did not notice that as the crown wheel is rotated to set the days, as instructed, they appear in English, German and French, in fixed sequence. Therefore if you first set it in English, subsequent automatic changes are always in English. (I managed to get it wrong however – I set it on Mon, assuming Monday, but in fact it was Montag! Somewhat puzzled when days in German subsequently appeared, but soon figured out and reset correctly).
He who complained of a fiddly crown wheel would also have been better served by clear instructions. Holding the watch between thumb and forefinger of both hands, face up, with the crown wheel on the right, the crown wheel can be easily pulled out to first or second “click”, under full control, by slipping the side of the nail of the index finger just between the crown wheel and the case. I don’t think using teeth on it is a good idea, neither for the watch nor for one’s teeth!
The strap is certainly not cheap. It is thick real leather, the parts very solidly put together, but it is rather stiff. Frankly, not to my taste – I prefer a smooth leather – but that is only personal preference and I shall soon be changing mine
for a soft black suede strap.
I’m well pleased with the watch. It looks fine, works perfectly, keeps time to the second over more than a week and I am looking forward to many years of batteryless, non-winding, accurate timekeeping. I have an idea it will see me out.
P.S. Nearly a year later and everything is still working as it should. There are some better instructions on the internet – I would recommend you observe the instructions about when to set or re-set the time/date. I get compliments on how well it looks. The only negative experience is that the time/date is difficult to read in sunshine – the top of the aperture casts a deep shadow over the letters/digits which are deep set under the dial. I doubt I will ever buy another watch!
I think the watch is good value as I was just after a basic one , although it does have the day and date display which I did find a bit of a fiddle to set correctly but I am pleased with it .
I bought this watch for my husband and he absolutely loves it! It’s a beautiful watch and with comfortable leather strap. His wedding band is yellow gold so it goes with that and he loves that it’s solar powered and the date is on there. We both couldn’t be more pleased with this watch 🙂
Bought this watch for a fellow lecturer. When it came I was happy to be met with a watch that actually looks better in real life than its picture. Fantastic value for money and would easily pass for a far more expensive model. A fantastic present for any time of the year.
Father in laws 70 birthday present . Hope he likes it as he has not seen it yet ! Looks really classy and stylish great and works off solar power very cleve
Sits comfortablyon wrist, Clear easy face to read,
Need to read instructions carefully to set, by putting
finger nail under the button to pull out it is easy to
set even with reumatic fingers.
After three weeks the watch is working just fine (as expected), but the finish on the brown leather strap has already been scraped off by the clasp and looks old, ragged and much-used. I expect to buy a replacement strap soon, mentally adding its cost to what I paid for the watch.
I tried numerous other watches in the process (especially the Timex Indi-glow models) and sent all back and kept this one.
Several of the other watches I got were just too huge and/or too thick, which I suspect is a current taste choice which looks like to me like a desire to be thought of as a high testosterone individual. But then again, I’m getting older and am a bit under-stated, if anything.
This one is just right in almost every way, with the exception of visibility at night. If this had Indi-glow backlighting, it would be perfect and a five-star in my book.
But I am very satisfied and would recommend it to anyone to whom the styling appeals.
***** Update:
It’s a year later and it still just keeps on tickin’!
I love it and it looks as good as new. I wear it all day every day, even when I SHOULD take it off. I can tell the strap will eventually go, but is OK so far.
I gae up on resetting the calendar. And my VCR is still blinking 12:00.
My title pretty much sums up all I have to say about this watch. I bought it 2 and a half years ago, and it has been ticking along everyday, Eco-drive working perfectly, with no scratches and no wear and tear, other than the standard wear of the strap. The dial is clear and crisp, retaining a nicely-laid-out look with only the 4, 8, and 12 hours actually enumerated, but the other hours clearly marked with clean gold lines. No problem at all with the day/date feature, except the occasional +1/-1 for months with 28 or 30 days. The strap is a beautiful brown, with elegant detailing that can be seen in the picture here if you look closely. Hats off to Citizen for making a top-quality, reliable, elegant timepiece at this price point. Definitely goes well with business attire as well as casual wear. I have received numerous compliments, with people marveling at how expensive it looked. I am even considering getting another one, as a gift for someone, or even just to be insured against Citizen possibly discontinuing this model someday in a fit of silliness 😉 Worth every penny of the $99 I paid for it!
The watch face, leather band and the detailing make for an understated but classic man’s dress watch that works with khakis for casual Fridays as well as with power ties and wool pin stripe suits for a meeting in the boardroom.
The watch case is a little thicker than other Citizen’s watches I have owned but I am hoping the EcoDrive feature ends the battery replacement cycle which was the only problem I have ever had with Citizen’s dress watches. Time will tell.
