It does what it’s meant to do – so at this price you can’t ask for more! No superfluous heatsinks (at this performance level) or rgb. If you have a Raspberry Pi 5 and want some fast storage, this is highly recommended!
Accepted by computer fine. Did have one failure where it wiped 95% of the contents I’d put on (about 3.75Tb), but this was backed up, so I’ve put that back on and all seems fine. It may or may not have been the drive, but as I’m using this as working storage as opposed to back up, it’s quick enough for what I want.
The Crucial 2TB SSD is a game-changer! Its lightning-fast speeds and impressive storage capacity make it a must-have for anyone seeking optimal performance and ample space. Not only does it deliver quick data transfers and smooth system responsiveness, but its cost-effectiveness adds even more value. With this SSD, upgrading storage has never been more satisfying or budget-friendly. Highly recommended for those who demand both speed and affordability!
Happy with this though had to connect the caddy I bought to house this disk in to a Apple Mac and then used the Disk Utility to erase then format the disk as FAT. Then used happily with my iPhone 15 Pro and Windows machine. Maybe interesting to someone. Because the disk wasn’t recognized by the iPhone immediately without taking this action. Happy with the product.
1 TB drive bought to replace my the 512GB NMe drive that originally shipped with my laptop. Drive comes with a link to download Acronis cloning software. I also bought a Sabrent M2 USB enclosure to house the old drive in order to make the clone. I initially started doing things the wrong way.round by putting the new drive in the USB enclosure and attempting to clone the old drive whilst it was still live in the laptop. It seemed to be showing a huge clone time so I googled it and found I was doing things the wrong way.. so I put the new drive into the laptop and the old drive into the USB enclosure having first made a bootable USB flash drive using the Acronis software before removing the old drive. I then changed the boot order in the laptop BIOS to boot off the flash and it booted straight into the Acronis software which allowed me to select the target drive and then format the drive to be cloned. The software showed around an hour and a half clone time which didn’t really seem to be diminishing.. but eventually after 2 hours ish the laptop rebooted automatically and all was okay. I still have the old 512 drive just in case something happens ..so far very happy.
So this is nothing to do with the card but my bad luck with the laptop I was trying upgrade the memory with. One of the screws just wouldn’t come out so my plan of getting the fastest speeds for my money was hanging in the balance. On the whole this memory card was a great deal and performs great even though I had to buy an adapter for it so I could get it functioning. As soon as I hooked it up to my laptop it formatted and I set it up with a single partition fts which in comparison my 3-4 times more expensive skandisk external ssd didn’t give me that option.
I can’t really speak for the actual writing and download speed if you had it in you laptop vs the adaptor I bought but I was getting through the 3.2usb 8/9 mbs download e.g the elder scrolls online at 120g took nearly 8 hours to download through usb4 on my new laptop it took half the time at just under 4 hours. Definitely would recommend for the price I paid was just unfortunate I couldn’t get it into the spare slot I had in my old laptop maybe I’ll have a look at my new laptop to see if it would fit but I feel like I need nvme 4 instead of 3 for my new one rip
Write speed is fast, loads of storage, everything I could ask for at a good price. To someone wanting to buy an ssd for their pc. Take my advice, this is a great choice for budge
Crucial are an original equipment manufacturer and their products have never let me down. They work exactly as expected, no issues, no dramas. Customer service and warranty support is just amazing. Price-wise they are best value. Cannot recommend crucial enough.
saw the 2tb version on offer for just under 65 and could not resist
as i really need more storage for my game installs, music production, video capturing and editing needs
i have a msi b450 tomahawk max motherboard with a single m.2 slot and this was a breeze to install and setup, i already had my bios setup from a 512gb nvme so it was just a quick visit to disk manager in windows and a format and its ready for use, windows shows 1.81TB.
ran a quick crystal disk mark using the nvme option and 1GiB data size (see image) and speeds are what you would expect and seem a bit better apart from the first read of 3398.09 vs 3600 from a previous review here.
copying some data from a ssd gave around 500MB/s and a 7200rpm hdd 133mb/s which was maximum for those drives, now comes the slow laborious task of downloading a large game and installing !
very happy !
As title says, upgraded my Macbook Pro early 2015 from 128gb SSD with a Crucial P3 2TB M.2 CT2000P3SSD8 using a sintech m.2 adapter! If in doubt youtube it.
Step 1: Create a USB Mac OS boot installer (youtube videos)
Step 2: back up your macbook using time machine on another USB drive
Step 3: replace SSD on macbook using sintech m.2 adapter (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CWWAENG)
Step 4: Plug in boot installer USB from step 1 then power on macbook pro while holding option key until menu appears
Step 5: use disk utility to erase new SSD. Format as AFPS.
Step 6: Install Mac OS
Step 7: plug in time machine drive from step 2 and then restore back up from time machine
Very nice storage device; if you’re a programmer like me, you know you need the extra space for your side projects and main projects. It has made my life easier because of how much more information I can save on my computer.
Perfect expansion for my pc to allow me to dual boot different operating systems. Drive was detected without any issues on installation, and it was very fast to install additional drivers for things like graphics and external hardware.
It didn’t come with any kind of motherboard standoff so if you don’t already have one, you’ll need to buy this seperately
The package around the memory stick/chip was put to some form of preasure and has been clearly bended.
The not sure it the item is damaged or not, i did not have time to test it yet.
I am using this 1TB NVME in an external case via a10Gbps USB C connection, Speed stays relatively good until it has been filled a few times. At that point, I re-format, and the performance is back again. Nice cheap storage
My Dell laptop only had 256gb internal ssd M2 2230 nvme – not a lot of storage these days.
Decided after a long take to swap this out and replace with higher capacity M2 2280 NVME SSD (longer than original SSD) this was cheaper than a 1tb 2230. had to mess around with the settings to be able to install new windows 10 installation – but managed in the end now have loads of storage left over and pretty fast loading times. Got another 1tb 2280 ssd as my second drive now my laptop has 2tb capacity! These don’t have heatsinks but fixing screws, but seem to be working okay with heatsinks.
I use this to store a number of virtual instrument libraries, which gobble up space and also perform at their best when there’s a good read speed, which this delivers. I also use part of the drive as backup space for other programmes, documents etc.
It’s Crucial, which I trust, and has performed flawlessly so far. Be aware that you are unlikely to get a full 4 TB of storage. At the moment, split over 2 drives, I’m Getting a total of 3.64TB of useable space.
Bought to upgrade the internal SSD on a Dell All-in-one desktop.
Easy to install provided that you are confident in dismantling a computer, it’s important to follow anti-static procedures.
The provided software quickly cloned the existing SSD and and following installation all was well. Boot speed is a tad faster and additional storage space is useful.
Would recommend using the Crucial website to check compatibility prior to purchase.
Crucial has carved out a nice segment of the SSD market for those looking for high capacity storage who don’t necessarily need the fastest performance. This drive is very much in that market segment, delivering reads and writes at “only” about 2.6 gigabytes per second. Newer drives running on the Gen 4 and 5 standards are almost exponentially faster, but 4 terabytes of capacity in drives that fast are prohibitively expensive for this YouTuber who works out of his basement.
For many if not most consumers Crucial’s performance is more than adequate for the task. Even at these sub 3GB/sec speeds this drive performs significantly faster than any mechanical drive out there and is not much more expensive.
It’s also a good pairing option for some of those USB-C DIY enclosures where the more expensive NVME drives would be overkill.
I installed this in my Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6H and honestly, I’m really happy with the storage. This review will be short because it all depends on the laptop/PC/hardware your installing it in, but for me it was really easily installable (as my laptop was built for upgradable storage). Opening my laptop up (was difficult but that’s nothing to do with this storage), and installing the storage was quite simple thanks to the guides provided by iFixit. 4 months of use of the NVMe SSD and I’ve had zero problems. I’ve never had a problem with Crucial personally and hope they continue to be a reliable and affordable place to get storage 🙂
Crucial are a reputable brand, and the price is good. Data size might disappoint some, but 930Gb usable is par for the course for a 1Tb disk. It was to upgrade a 250Gb SATA SSD.
I was ready to use a low level cloning utility, but a downloadable one provided by Crucial worked fine.
Main issue was getting my computer to recognise the disk – a bit of BIOS tweaking and driver updating was required, but now it’s working well.
As I upgraded from a 250GB SATA SSD to 1Tb M.2 NVMe, I think it’s a bit faster as well as having more spare space, but it’s not the amazing difference I got when moving from hard disk to SSD.
I’d been wanting an SSD for years but couldn’t justify the cost of a 1gb drive. But when the prime sales came up it looked more agreeable.
This is relatively easy to install and will fit into the M2 slot on your motherboard. Ignore the pci-e ports or it will be flapping in the wind ready to cause trouble. I did have to remove and refit my graphics card to fit this but that’s no huge burden and is easier than faffing with sata cables and routing.
You will have to carry out an initial format before use to prep the drive. Depending on your plans and what Operating system you are using / installing will depend on how it’s done. I was using windows 10 so went to computer management> disc management and prepared new simple drive. After formatting I then did a clean install of Windows 11 from usb stick. If you are switching from a conventional HDD to SSD you will have to go into the bios and change your boot order and a few other settings (just search YouTube for the name of your motherboard and enable SSD). There are lots of guides available. There is quite a bit of support documentation on the crucial site but it is basic and going under the idea of everything in ideal condition.. and of course your OS behaving.
I setup a partition for a few 100gb for the OS and the rest as a secondary drive for games. What a difference! My pc now boots up in seconds instead of minutes.i often click the power button on the base unit and look up to say “what? Already? That can’t be it.I was gonna go grab a cuppa.”
Stability is excellent and instead of loading things are just available. There’s no waiting or buffering.it’s just there ready. This really has made a world of difference. The only negative is that it will show you how slow your internet speeds are.
Good quality and value. highly recommend. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful
Installed in 2nd bay of a HP Omen 30L. No issues (granted items are compatible). Not too into speeds and such but it runs well and am satisfied. Boots and loads games and apps fairly quick. Good stuff.
I have a Gen3 mobo and installed this M.2, says what’s in the description or close. SSD easy to install, the only negative I can give is there was no screw stand off. I have to order it separately, otherwise the drive performs well. A very good upgrade.
The Crucial P3 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe is a high-performance solid-state drive that delivers lightning-fast speeds and a large storage capacity. It uses the NVMe interface and the latest PCIe Gen3 technology to achieve read and write speeds of up to 3400 and 3000 MB/s respectively. The drive also has a low power consumption and a compact form factor which make it perfect for laptops and small form factor PCs. It’s also easy to install and comes with a 5-year limited warranty. Overall, this is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a fast and reliable SSD for their computer.
This is a DRAM-less drive. Not best suited for being a main drive in your computer but still viable if used as such.
This drive is better suited for being the second drive in your PC. Adding bulk storage for a low cost.
Currently using this as storage for a large steam library, freeing up space on my first SSD.
Needed this to speed up my work PC. Not going to go in to the specs and read/write speeds etc but it was easy to install and worked without any issues.
Fantastic!
I ended up with 2 quick ones. Write 3k+.
If you only have a PCI gen3, this might be the fastest option out there.
Only time will tell how long they last!
I used this device to replace an aging SSD, never having owned an NVME drive before but hearing tales of their amazing speed. The old SSD was pretty fast – 500mb/s allegedly. Imagine up to 3000mb/s. That should make a big difference. Yes, turning off all the fake stuff – you know, the caching which isn’t actually writing to the drive but filling my memory up – it comes in very quick, slightly below a seven year old SATA SSD. This is not due to any bad setting as there are not many, and I have a 13th gen Intel with latest motherboard, etc. Is this just Crucial – a brand I’ve trusted thus far – or is the whole M.2 MVME malarkey just emperors new clothes? I think given the poor performance it kind of adds an extra kick in the teeth to learn they are equivocal on the guaranteed life span. So.. if I’m understanding you rightly Crucial, it’s not fast and may not last that long? Fantastic, thanks for that. The price is good.
Bought this to replace the 64GB eMMC storage in my Asus E210MA. Runs a bit faster now, and definitely a lot more storage. Handy that is comes with the screw too.
Easy to install, no cables like a sata drive, used crucial acronis to clone windows from hard drive over, very easy to get sorted, would recommend especially as it’s a micron owned company
I’m not a hardware expert, so I can’t verify any of the read/write speeds. However, I did register the part with Crucial, in order to claim my extended 5-year warranty. So that should cover me way past the shelf-life of my old Mac.
I have a 500gb boot m.2 SSD and a 2TB mechanical sata but wanted more fast storage so thought i would make use of my second M.2 slot, glad i did! Setup was an absolute breeze. Only downside is most motherboards only come with one mounting point screw for an M.2 so had to purchase one separately but this is no fault of the drive, just something to watch out for as I had to wait an extra 2 days to use this due to that.
All my current games now load very quickly 😀
Let me start by saying When I give 5 star for easy to install I paid a local computer shop to put in in for me alongside upgrading the memory on my Lenovo L340 (50 all in including migration from 128gb to 1TB).
I’ve split this drive into two partitions, One for Windows 10 and one for Windows 11 partially because I didn’t want to commit to Windows 11 yet but everything seems ok. I installed several applications like Ableton Lite, DaVinci Resolve, LibreOffice etc and still have loads of space each side (roughly a 400gb / 450gb split) Boot time roughly be up and running from switch on to loading a web page anywhere between 15 to 30 seconds and thats including selection screen and logging in.
Only had it in a few weeks but everything seems good so far, Would advise backing up several times (across multiple drives if you can) if you rely on one drive to keep all your data safe, it isn’t happening, you really can’t have too many back ups (across multiple drives if possible), you can NEVER have too much storage on your computer and can NEVER have too many backups because one day one of backups WILL and I mean WILL save your proverbial bacon.
Sorry for the Rant but it needs to be said, stay safe people and always “Practice Safe Hex”.
It does what it’s meant to do – so at this price you can’t ask for more! No superfluous heatsinks (at this performance level) or rgb. If you have a Raspberry Pi 5 and want some fast storage, this is highly recommended!

Got it to use as my off-site back-up of my back-ups for which it works perfectly.
Liked it so much got the 4Gb version for my portable copy of my media library.

If you only have a PCI gen3, this might be the fastest option out there.
Only time will tell how long they last!
Sometimes when your PC is very slow it is because it does not have enough disk space, increasing the space improves performance a lot.
I haven’t tested the speeds because my goal wasn’t to get the fastest NVME, I just wanted a trusted brand like Crucial and 500gb memory.
The price is very good so you will be satisfied.
It brings a screw in the box
It was easy to install, arrived quick and I’ve had no problems with it.
Great upgrade from a hard drive loads windows instantly. Though the screw it comes with is way too small for any of my standoffs
Easy to install, no cables like a sata drive, used crucial acronis to clone windows from hard drive over, very easy to get sorted, would recommend especially as it’s a micron owned company
Good size SSD to replace stock SSD which came with my 10-year-old Mac Book Pro 2013 (with the help of an adaptor – https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CWWAENG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details).
