Really pleased with this purchase. I was looking for an uncomplicated but good quality CD Player and this one fits the bill perfectly. It is easy to use, DAB function was easy to set and it plays my CDs to my satisfaction with a good depth of sound. Not only that, I like the clean simple design and attractive finish. What’s not to like?

My Oakcastle CD / DAB500 sound system arrived extremely well packaged. Easy to set up, when plugged in, time/date is automatically set, all radio stations automatically set, manual booklet easy to follow. The real ” Tour De Force ” is the sound, IT IS STUNNING !!!!, a beautiful rich sound quality. Radio quality and cd quality absolutely superb. Excellent volume level also. I usually buy branded music systems, this Oakcastle Dab500 has to be the best music system I have ever purchased. BRAVO

Really like the system. Great sound, easy to work, great price, however takes too long when changing radio stations. Sometimes as long as 5 or 6 seconds. Don’t know if it’s because it’s digital as this is the first DAB I’ve had. That’s the only negative.

I’ve bumped the product from a 4 to a 5. My complaint was about the delay when changing stations but I heard from a few people it’s because of digital stations. As i said the system is great value for money at just over the 100 mark.

I’m really happy with this, the sound quality is excellent. Having the equaliser means can easily adjust the tone according to the type of music being played. The unit has a nice solid look and the cd drawer moves smoothly. The remote is easy to use and has good size buttons. Can even attach my iPod if I want to. All good.

I was elated when this arrived , the sound quality is excellent ( i love a bit of bass ) and this radio has it .
I was slightly disheartened when i was setting it up because i could not tune it to my Favourite ” Greatest Hits” for my region but after 3 days i managed to get it . I Love This DAB Radio+CD It’s fab having the remote control. I definitely would recommend this good quality radio. Nothing not to like.

This is a sturdy ,great looking and great sounding unit . Plenty loud enough for my lounge which is a decent size. Well worth 100 , much better value than some of the more well known brands. Highly recommended.
Plays music from CDs , DAB , FM , Bluetooth, USB. Headphone socket on the back of the unit.

I brought this to replace an older Dab radio/CD player that sadly stopped working. This item is great looking, works brilliantly, connects to my phone by bluetooth. The only downside is it doesn’t display the CD information like my old unit did. But overall very satisfied.

Was looking for a new radio with a good DAB selection for the kitchen. Looked at the reviews and this unit came up with good reviews. So based my purchase on the reviews and I’m very pleased with the quality.

Easy to set up and store stations and a excellent sound considering the price point. Looks similar and sounds similar to my Ruak unit which is in the living room.

Acceptable sound quality considering its price and easy to set up. My one concern is the flimsiness of the CD tray. Be extremely careful how you insert and remove a CD. Otherwise well worth the money.

The DAB radio, CD’s sound fab very pleased, I needed to get another aerial with long cable to system, as poor reception where I chose to put radio. I havent played with other functions ie alarm, as life too short .
Customer services were very helpful and answered my numerous questions very promptly.

Rather severe styling. The CD transport drawer is flimsy and demands careful handling. When the CD drawer is open a row of press buttons are obscured and risky to operate in vuew if the fragile CD drawer. A bulky product with its headphone socket on its rear – most inaccessible.
Good price point and adequate playback quality & volume.

Next day delivery from Amazon. Simple set up. English design so manual is well composed.Intuitive remote use. Much better sound quality than previously owned more expensive versions (Panasonic). It does what it says in the product description (on Amazon). Telescopic aerial rather than wire (preferable to me). Seamless Bluetooth pairing. Very happy to give a 5 star rating. (simple registration for extended 3 year warranty, which hopefully won’t be needed ).

Firstly, you get what you pay for. However having just returned a Panasonic because the radio didn’t function. I was pleasantly surprised when I set this up and had all systems working first time
It doesn’t look as smart as the Panasonic but it was half the price and had more working functions.
My wife who will be mainly using this found it very easy to use with a good instruction booklet.
I know the firm are based in Cambridge but nowhere does it say where it was manufactured which is slightly annoying as we try to buy British where possible. All in all though very pleased with it as it has a 3 year guarantee making it very good value for money

I wanted a compact radio that had the facility to play CD’s but also had the usual Bluetooth and USB etc.
I must admit that I was a bit worried about the DAB reception in my area but this has been fine.
After reading other reviews I decided to buy this one and have to say how good the unit is so thanks to everyone who has reviewed it. I have only used the radio so far but have to say how impressed I am with the sound quality. It has ports out of the back which gives it great bass, the sound quality is excellent for a small unit.
I would definately recommend this radio!

I have been hunting high and low for a small music system for an art studio that is both affordable, looks nice and has a great sound. I have a good quality Cambridge system along with a collection of headphones at home so sound quality is really important to me. This system has surpassed my expectations. It is such great quality design and build and sound – partly because it has a timber housing. Designed and built in the UK. It has brilliant top and bass. The mid range is not perfect but that’s a small matter and for the price it’s absolutely excellent. It’s also very easy to use and set up. Highly recommend!!

I did not find the instruction manual easy to read and understand. They use the terms ‘Ref’ and ‘Rem’ when making reference to the unit and the remote respectively, but no clear mention of this in the instruction manual. There are differences between the blurb on Amazon, describing the item and the instruction manuaI, which has become apparent thro’ the questions I have been asked by potential purchasers, which would be best addressed to the manufacturer. I am not a tech junkie; I just wanted a straightforward HiFi unit to play, without adding a lot of extraneous tech to it. So it suits me.

Arrived within 24 hours of ordering. So fast that I was out at the time of delivery but the driver made sure it was delivered safely to my neighbour. The box was simple to set up – just plug in and follow the straightforward instructions! The sound quality is brilliant and it’s an uncomplicated and unobtrusive black box. All the DAB stations I want are now preset and easy to access. I haven’t tried the CD player yet but I don’t anticipate any problems. A good choice for me!

I was thrilled by the quality of sound, every bit as good as my Bose. Love that the CD is completely sealed for playing. Bose wasn’t, so dust got in and ruined it. I expect this one to last for many years. I like the wood effect casing, very smart. Love the fact too that I don’t need to move from my recliner chair, the handy little remote does everything for me. Altogether very happy with purchase.

The DAB 500 Is a great addition to My bedroom. It enables Me to listen to cd’s or USB stick or the included radios in My bedroom, either through the good sounding speakers or via headphones. Bluetooth is another great function added to this system along with the 2 alarms which can be set to come on with the radio stations or a buzzer sound, great for waking you up in a morning if needed, hence why I think this system is excellent for in a bedroom. Overall this is a good sounding, compact music system which has many features that You would expect on something more expensive. The small compact design is Ideal for in My Bedroom to listen to My CD’S which had been gathering dust in the loft, on the quality player ,with a sound You would expect off a more expensive system. The Bluetooth connectivity is also a useful function for if You want to play music off Your Mobile Phone or external I-pod. Overall this compact music system Is highly recommended by Myself especially with the added bonus of a 3 year guarantee. It would be a welcome asset to any household. Used in my garage, with a lot of noisy machinery and seriously competes with them but have to have the volume nearly on full. Coming from a guitarist, who owns his own full valve Marshal amp this is saying something. This stereo has a crisp clear sound all the way through the mids and trebles and has an excellent sub sound and for the size of the speakers they have used, the sound is quite incredible. Would highly recommend.

As well as pre – determined equaliser settings there is also a customisable setting, so sound quality can be set to your own requirements. With DAB +, CD Player, Bluetooth, Auxilliary, and USB connections what more can you ask for at this competitive price? The remote works perfectly so for those lazy evenings relaxing listening to your favourite tracks in high quality I can highly recommend this superb mini hifi. The added bonus is it is light enough to carry around the house, even for use as an alarm clock/ wake up to your favourite music / programme. 5 stars

I bought this DAB 500 for my kitchen because I wanted a better sound than I was getting from my Echo smart speaker. I also wanted to start playing my 20 year old dance music compilation CD’s.
I only took delivery today, and have set the unit on top of my microwave where it fits nicely.
Sound quality is excellent and I would say brilliant value for money, as I was considering buying a similar item from John Lewis which was more than double the price. All things considered, if you are looking to buy a compact DAB radio with CD player, you would be hard pushed to get a better system for the price.

I’m very pleased with this purchase. I thought I’d try another brand and I’m glad I did!
Easy to set up and use. Lightweight, compact and stylish it can compliment any room. Three year extended warranty is a bonus.
Value for money
Except, no repeat track/album function. This disappointed me, because that’s one of my favourite functions.
Apart from this I have no complaints. I can listen to my c.d’s again, but stream music as well, which I am happy about.

Reason for purchase – I wanted a smart and compact DAB Radio for our living room and have been looking for some time. The Oakcastle DAB500 DAB+ Radio & CD Player Music System looked like it met my requirements. The appeal was also that this was a multi functional system, doing away with the need for separate and various items of equipment, which meant I have more options for listening to music than just the radio.
On receiving the Music System, the box implied that the purchaser could “Extend Your Warranty For Free”. Sadly, when I scanned the QR code provided in the Welcome Guide, I found this not to be the case.
CD Player – Easy to use both manually and using the remote control provided with the system, and playback includes a shuffle and repeat function.
DAB/DAB+ Radio – Good scanner function, however it will need to be tried in various locations in order to enjoy the most powerful signal strength.
2.0 Stereo Sound – Sound quality found to be better than had been expected from a unit with built in speakers.
USB Mode – Good sound quality and playback includes a shuffle and repeat function.
Bluetooth Connectivity – This is fast and easy to set up with other Bluetooth enabled equipment e.g. TV, Laptop and mobile phone.
Compact Design – Aesthetically pleasing the system includes a screen function which shows track currently playing, and in standby mode shows time and date. The disappointment was to find that all the plug in ports are at the back of the system, which requires a clearance of between 4-6 inches or 10-15 cms. to access the USB, headphone and auxiliary ports. This means that the system can not be placed in a position where the rear is un accessible, if the use of these ports is important for you.
The power cable is 60″ (153cms) which is not as long as many other equipment power cables. This may limit the areas the device may be placed in, unless you are happy to use an extension cable.
In order to benefit from all the functions this system provides, it is important to read the User Manual provided, which is very well presented and extremely helpful.

Great music player- the sound is amazing quality and is also powerful when listening to something with a bass.

You can adjust according to sound level needed easily- perfect for any kind of music genre whether it be to relax or have something fun to listen to while gaming or cleaning or with friends and family.

The CD player makes it good for listening to artists you may already like on cd somewhere or for audio books for when your cooking and need a little reading to go with it.

The radio allows to listen to a variety of different music to find new songs that’s playing today that you may not have heard of.

Otherwise, love that’s its compatible to play with AUX and Bluetooth if want to play from mobile or different device as some people prefer to play from their chosen playlists or artists or maybe a friend wants to play their own music also includes a headphone jack if needed. — I personally will be using this feature a-lot while I’m relaxing with a book as I like background noise.

Display is clear to read and see what’s playing which can be dimmed or made brighter with remote whatever your preference. It also shows time and date with just a glance remote is easy to use with a nice layout of buttons instructions are clear to understand so makes it simple to set up and get going right out the box. It’s straightforward to scan for radio channels to tune the system remembers the last station from standby mode making it uncomplicated to get listening to favourite station.

It also has an alarm if needed which I find useful for people that don’t like using phone alarms.

All in all, the sound system is amazing quality for its price. It is made well and is sturdy. It looks expensive as well, impressive altogether sound system that I would recommend to anyone.
