Fabulous to relax into, vivacious voice acting and effervescent colours, the story reveals itself wonderfully and even in the opening hours brought on a “Gaaasp!” at one point.
Touches of Harry Potter and Ray Harryhausen, with a genuine warmth to proceedings.
A real treat to relax into.
I’m a huge fan of the Dragon Quest series and this appealed to me even before playing some of the reviews I had read previously left me feeling like this wouldn’t appeal to me once playing but I can happily say it is a nice gaming experience if you want to just sit back and have a nice “cosy” gaming session with the familiar feelings of DQ.
Really good game with lots to do, can be repetitive and the AI controlling the monsters isn’t always good. Overall a solid distraction if you’re a fan of Dragon Quest games.
Sometimes you just want the brain drugs you get from winning and getting delicious gold coins and shiny prizes with confetti. Plus it has many slimes and who doesn’t love those?
Good family fun. We have taken turns to play this game
So first and foremost, i have not played through the entirety of the game yet, i’ve played a little over 6 hours so i have not been able to do a lot of “boss” encounters or anything like that as 6 hours are still early hours into this game, so take that into consideration.
I think most of the selling points of this game are easy to get simply from promo material, yes there’s lots of treasures to find, and monsters to take on your excursions once battled and hired, what i haven’t seen a whole lot of promotion of is the sheer scale of exploration you can actually do in this game, you can go ANYWHERE at any point after you’ve done the tutorial, and when i say ‘anywhere’ i genuinely mean so, i haven’t encountered a single invisible wall so far, and i simply love games that do this, games that let me explore nooks and crannies not even meant to be explored by the player. Basically if you fall into the same niche category of gamer that loves to exploit game mechanics to get to areas not meant to be explored – this will be your dream game.
As for the rest of the game, it’s your typical fetch quest exploration game with light RPG mechanics, gather materials here, gather monsters there, and find some treasures sprinkled about – type of game, but with a delightful Dragon Quest coat of paint, i love this type of game, and this is not a bad one.
Basically if you want a more laid back Dragon Quest experience where you can take your time to enjoy the game at your own pace, this will be right up your alley.
Are there any negatives? not really, the textures can look like soup stains or something from far away because they’re not rendered properly to save your frame rates, and leveling up can be a bit of a chore, but besides that i’m greatly satisfied with the game, it’s exactly what it says it is on the tin.
What would i score this so far based on my time with it?
A healthy, but biased 5 out of 5 stars, it’s exactly what it says it is, and i can’t complain about that, and hey i’m having fun! if they decide to port this title on any other platform then i’d recommend waiting for a port instead so it can run and look better, but for everyone else give this a try, you might love it.
Dragon quest treasures is a good game, lots of things to do, creatures and characters to meet, quests to complete, with a hint of base building and a good soundtrack, very enjoyable. But the world and combat itself can be a bit bland and repetitive which is my only critique. Would rate 7/10. Would recommend.
Great addition to the Dragon Quest series. Very easy to play. Entertaining, deserves 5 Stars!
Me and the kid played Dragon Quest XI and loved it and she was very excited seeing the trailer for DCT. it hasn’t disappointed, excellent game we’ve loved together. It’s everything you’d want for a more chilled DQ adventure. I fully recommend.
