Easy to set up although you have to access instructions on line but connected to wifi easy. Used a couple of times so far and quite pleases with it. Just hope it keeps printing the same quality in future. However for the price quite happy.
Great printer at a great price. Very easy to install if you just use cables (power and USB) don’t bother with WIFI , more trouble than it is worth. Plug cables in, install drivers and ready to print in a couple of minutes of unboxing. Nice clear printing for a home computer doing basic stuff, when it breaks down just buy another at this price. Last similar Epsom printer has lasted me about 7 years.
I don’t see any problems with the printer it works perfectly does exactly what it says on the box having the Wi-Fi connection is useful I don’t have to have the printer right having the Wi-Fi connection is useful I don’t have to have the printer right next to my computer I can have it with anywhere in the house which is quite useful when you have limited space where your computer is and also is quite handy the also does have a wire connection and also is quite handy the also does have a wire connection ability so you don’t have to worry about if you don’t have Wi-Fi the print quality is good but I would remind whoever buys these printers don’t leave them on their table for too long print something now and then to keep the printer working otherwise the ink dry up apart from that it works perfectly
This is my 3rd printer from Epson and I have been a little disappointed. Mostly by the software. My first printer was so easy to use and software brilliant. Latest version very poor.
I had an Epson printer and replaced it with another Epson. So far so good. It was easy to install by me who is not very tech minded. I gave it 5 stars but the tech support only gave 1 as don’t know about that, never had to use it. Maybe absolutely fine, I don’t know.
Initially concerned about some of the negative reviews but given the price thought I’d give it a go.
Very easy to setup and install via the android app. No difficulties unlike some of the reviewers.
No issues and print quality seems good.
As usual with Epson printers tends to use coloured inks for cleaning purposes even when not printing, and doesn’t allow B+W printing when colours are empty, which is a bit of a pain.
Works well with the Epson Smart Panel app (I use it on Android) and was immediately found on the WiFi network with no hassle.
Can be relatively expensive for printing if using genuine Epson cartridges as a full set (of non-XLs) runs to around 30 and will only last a couple of hundred pages in my experience.
Generally a great printer. Not easy to set up to connect to WiFi. The instruction manual give you little information. The last xp printer which this replaced, had a proper paper idiot proof guide Epson do better.
So far all seems OK, but surprised to discover one of the cartridges is showing low ink after very little use.
I suspect that the inhouse cartridges supplied are not filled with much ink, encouraging customers to buy new at horrendous prices
Likes: Once set up it is so easy to use through the WiFi.
As I use it for work mainly I send documents from my work iPhone directly to the printer, if they are excel you are better off in landscape, the rest are fine in portrait.
The print is precise and clear, haven’t printed any photos yet, but I am sure they’ll be good. Need to get some photo paper first. My old printer, same make, did an excellent job of photos. I purchased this as it was a pain getting ink cartridges for the old one and as the new one can have individual cartridges replaced, seems like a good idea. Happy so far.
4 stars due to my difficulties setting it up but for the performance so far, and at the price point, it’s a 5 star printer.
Looks like a printer. Quick startup from power on. Decent print speed after first page printed. Good copy and scan review speed. Scan speed is not that quick running at 600dpi for a photo but the quality seems good enough.
The smartphone setup works up until WiFi where it just doesn’t. So I had to manually set that up from the LCD screen. Any major functionality using the LCD screen is clunky but at this price that is to be expected.
The instructions, however, are very poor. The video is hard to follow especially if, like in my case, your printer head doesn’t spontaneously move to the filling position. You just have to play with the setting manually till you find a way to put it in the right position. Once you manage to get it unstuck, the setup is a smooth thing. The software comes with several options and the quality of the scanner is very good for home use. The printer is of acceptable quality.
Biggest drawback: you cannot set up the scanner unless you set up the printer first. So, if you printer head is stuck, you will have to figure out how to get it unstuck manually, as you can’t do the set up via computer unless you insert the cartridges and there’s no option for moving the printer head to the right position if you have never used it before. Bummer.
Second drawback: the cartridges (black plus 3 separate coloured inks) are very difficult to open, even with the scissors, because they need to be held in the right position and there are some bits of the cartridges you must not touch with your skin. So if you have dexterity challenges it is VERY difficult.
So overall it’s good quality for the price, but if you are neurodiverse or your dexterity isn’t up to pair you might need assistance to set it up.
The Epson XP-2200 is an affordable, easy-to-use, inkjet printer, that is suitable for users who print small volumes of regular items, such as; documents; travel data; online orders and similar. Photo quality is acceptable and can be rated “good” at this price-point. Text printing (black on white) is better than expected with sharp, well-defined characters.
Presentation
The printer is well-packaged in a strong box with plenty of foam formers to protect while in transit.
What’s in the box
The following items are in the box….
1. Printer
2. A set of 4 start-up inks (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow)
3. Unpacking and start-up instructions
4. Mains electricity cable
Note : Epson provide a very detailed User Guide online. It is a good idea to download and read this User Guide before unpacking and setting up the printer. There are a number of very important instructions that should be followed before starting the setup procedure.
Installation
As with all inkjet printers, unpacking and the initial setup procedure is critical to the operation of the printer. Epson have produced a very good animated video showing the exact procedure that must be followed to setup the printer. It is imperative that this video be followed step-by-step to ensure that the unpacking and setup is carried out in accordance with Epson’s instructions. Failure to do this could result in a damaged or non-functional printer.
There are 4 ways in which the printer can be used…
1. As a stand-alone machine, including all functions — Print, Copy, Scan
2. Connected to a computer via a USB cable (not supplied)
3. Connected to a computer or other device via direct Wi-Fi
4. Connected to a network via a Router and Wi-Fi
Notes :
1. When connecting via direct Wi-Fi a Router and network are not required. The connected device (PC, Laptop, Phone), must have a Wi-Fi Adaptor. The printer and the device can then communicate directly without the need of a network.
2. The printer does not have an Ethernet port, therefore connection to a network Router can only be achieved via a Wi-Fi link.
3. Recommend that you download (from Epson) and read the detailed User Guide before starting the installation.
Practical use
1. Stand-alone. If the machine is going to be used as a stand-alone device then there is no need to download or install any software. However, control over functionality will be very limited.
2. Connected to a device. If the machine is going to be used together with a PC, Laptop or Phone, then the Epson software for this printer must be downloaded and installed.
Once the software has been installed printing, copying and scanning are relatively simple tasks. For printing tasks, simply select Print in the document that you want to print and the Epson utility will activate. In the utility you can make all the normal printing function adjustments. For copying and scanning tasks, open the Epson Scan Utility and follow the simple onscreen prompts.
This is a very easy-to-use printer and is suitable for even the most non-technical person.
This one is quite easy to use, but the controls are harder to follow and even compatible inks are much more expensive. It seems they want you to buy the more expensive Ecotank models, which I guess could be cheaper in the long run. However, I don’t produce many copies, so it would take a long time to make an overall saving. Just be careful in making your choice.
A great price for a quality printer. The display screen makes things so much easier and all the buttons are at the front, some printers have them at the top, which is a problem if you have your printer sitting on a shelf. The original Epson inks are a little pricey for the tiny amount you get. It makes sense purchasing the XL cartridges, which have 10ml of ink. The included inks have 4ml, so they will deplete in no time at all.
Bought to replace a failed printer / scanner. Works well and easy to setup and use via wireless or usb. Scanner works over wireless and provides great image quality. Print quality is good and supports printing on both sides of a page. Only downside is that the print cartridges don’t last very long and are costly to replace.
Setting it up wasn’t easy as I use it primarily for a Windows 10 laptop so I couldn’t use the app and the instructions are next to useless. Mine came with a pin on a tiny piece of paper stuck deep inside the printer so it took an absolute age to find – why don’t they just stick in on the lid
Now that its going it prints decent quality prints pretty quickly if a bit noisy and clunky so all in all its a decent printer for the price.. Can’t say what the the ink use is like as I haven’t had it long enough
I found it very easy to set up to my phone using the app. Haven’t tried connecting other devices as no clear instructions on how to do this. Printing quality is good. Value for money printer for occasional home printing.
I found the printer easy to set up. It did everything i needed it to do.
I love how easy it is to download an app on my tablet and smart phone. And it all works without a problem.
If i was to say one bad thing. It would be the price of the replacement ink. Epson wants to sell you a monthy plan for ink. But i dont use a printer that much to justify that. And you cant buy compatibles iv checked
Overall it is okay. I have had Epsom printers like this one in the past, and my last one lasted me around 10 years – BUT – these new ones are a pain in the butt to set up as Epsom, in all of their wisdom, try too hard to tie you into buying their consumables, and you need an internet connection to do most of the setup – which is fine if you are savvy in the PC department but can be a nightmare if you are not.. I wasted a lot of time having to download drivers, unload them and re-download them again. Now that it is all working, I am happy with the print quality.
Just as easy to set up and use as the last Epson xp 215 printer was.
My first impression straight out of the box wasn’t that great as a slim plastic cover that fits beside the paper feed tray fell off whilst I was removing the printer from the protective bag. I soon got it clipped back on but it wasn’t a great start. There are a few slightly flimsy-feeling parts to this printer – that cover, the output tray and the console buttons, which resemble the kind of keys you got on a Sinclair ZX81 computer in the early 1980s. The display console itself can be tilted upwards to give you a better view of the screen and buttons.
The process of setting up the printer is very easy though and you definitely don’t need an app or a laptop to do so. In the interests of research, I did it without and the most fiddly part was inputting my Wi-Fi password using the cursors on the control panel. The Wi-Fi reception is excellent and better than my previous printer. After fitting the supplied ink cartridges, you need to align the print heads and it’s all done automatically as part of the setup process, which took about 15 minutes to complete. This does use a little bit of ink so it’s just as well that you get some included. On the subject of ink cartridges, you can buy ‘compatible’ ones (as I have) complete with chips that the printer will recognise. Whilst they cost roughly the same as Original Equipment ones, they’re high capacity so should last a lot longer. Remaining on the subject of ink, the heated piezo print head used on this printer apparently results in a small amount being deposited in an ‘ink receptacle’ which you need to unscrew and empty from time to time – perhaps an automatic job for whenever you change the cartridges.
Print quality really is great with smaller type faces being crisp and clear. Colour reproduction is vivid and should meet most domestic needs. The print speed doesn’t appear to be quite as fast as the maker claims but A4 b/w letters take 4-5 seconds to complete. The print queue lag is quite lengthy by comparison to my last printer and takes some 45 seconds before the printer begins after clicking ‘print.’ You have to physically turn on the printer to start printing as it doesn’t have an ‘auto-awake’ function if it’s left plugged in to the mains but switched off at the printer. However, you can leave it on standby for as long as you want by adjusting the relevant setting. The rest of the functions (scan, copy etc.) are easy to navigate, and the dual sided print function is accessed via the print manager function on your laptop or mobile app, or on the printer console if you’re using it to photocopy. The mobile app is pretty good and is easy to download and use. Besides using it to control print jobs, you can also do other things like check the ink level.
On the whole, this is a very good printer for the price. It’s been a while since I bought one for domestic use but this one does everything I need it to do and the print quality and speed is a definite step up from my old one.
took 2 hours me and a mate, to much dependency on phones
and apps, you use phone for checking!! another nail in human
thought process.
For the price very good value. Well made and versatile easy to use from my laptop and iPad.
A decent printer with good reproduction copies, rather slow on picking up instructions from computer.
I was looking forward to getting a new Epson printer and I did know what i wanted, I have had Epson printer before, but not recently, so i had a wee bit of trouble downloading driver for the printer and scanner, but its done now.
Very easy to install, so much better than having to plug it into the laptop
IT TOOK ME A LONG TIME TO FIND THE “JAM” WHITE PAPER,WHITE ROLLER, PLUS BAD EYES.
It had to be cheap and easy to use because for sure I am going to use few times a year I don’ t want struggle to use it.
It is wonderful and I am so happy with it. Easy to set up easy to use. Very straight forward. Even if you are not sort of person has no idea to set up such a things you will do it.
Very happy, great value!
Someone else installed it for me.
Takes a little time to get going so I have to walk away or I would fiddle. You need patience.
Good brand, easy to install, but my one is not printing… App on the phone is easy to use.
Print quality is good for the price; the key point is separate cartridges for the ink, which should make things a little cheaper. Once you have the app, setup is pretty easy on a phone or a PC/Laptop/Tablet.
