My 149 GHD bought in December 2022 packed up after6 months. Never had a problem previously. Whilst many unclear mixed messages were made by customer services, to my surprise a replacement Ghd arrived special delivery. Thank you GHD for standing by your product .
I’ve been using this for a few months now and hands down it’s the best straightener I’ve ever owned! My hair is smooth and straight, it takes half the time to style and so many people have complimented my hair since I started using it.
The straightener itself is amazing. It heats up in seconds and the plates are so smooth, they just glide over my hair. The wife is nice and long so I’m not stuck to a plug socket to use it!
Nicer than their standard straighteners and heat up mega quickly plus they’re pretty lightweight compared to a lot of brands.
I still prefer GHDs over other brands I’ve used, including more expensive cordless brands, because they do seem to properly straighten my hair rather than just squash any curls/kinks flat. I think it’s because of the temperature they reach plus they’re more manoeuvrable than other brands.
I also have a pair of platinum GHD straighteners and do slightly prefer them to these gold ones but my hair is pretty tricky to straighten so I need all the help I can get. These gold ones are more than sufficient for most hair types.
Good gift set but it is quite expensive compared to buying the straighteners on their own I think.
This is a nice set. The travel case fits both the straighteners and brush so is handy. The brush is nice but nothing to write home about.
The straighteners are what you are paying for here, and with that considered, they feel extremely lightweight and cheap for this pricepoint. I have read reviews which praise this particular model and they do a lovely job of straightening hair, but they do feel so flimsy to hold.
This isn’t something which affects how they perform, but lightweight hollow-feeling electronics don’t scream “quality”.
I’ve tried a lot of similar products in the past, but this one stands out as one of the best. It’s very easy to use and provides the desired results quickly. The packaging is also very sleek and modern. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a high-quality product that delivers results.
My current set of GHD straighteners were bought around 10 years ago and cost around 170.00, they are still working today like the day I bought them. I absolutely love them so when the opportunity came up to try this GHD Gold Styler Set I jumped at it.
The packaging, like all GHD products, is sleek and stylish with the gold lettering on the black box
Inside the box are the straighteners/stylers, hair brush, and silicone heat mat.
The first thing I noticed is that the length of the straighteners is a little shorter than the ones I have. The outer edges are also a little more curved than the older style.
They claim to heat up within 25 seconds and admittedly they do heat up quickly. The heat plates are smooth on my hair and don’t pull at odd strands like some cheap straighteners do.
While I keep referring to them as straighteners, they are infact stylers and this is noticable more so with the maximum temperature. They heat to 185C which is apparently the optimum styling temperature and while it still feels very hot, my good old 10-year-old GHDs are hotter.
For people buying these soley for straightening, unless you have thin hair, you may find it takes longer than other straighteners. My hair is quite thick and I found these stylers were not as efficient at straightening my hair. The shorter plates alone meant it took longer but also because they don’t get as hot as my others.
That said I don’t believe they’re meant for straightening. I quite often like to curl or wave my hair and these little beauties are perfect for that. They glide effortlessly and the curved outer edges allow you to easily create different types of waves and curls that hold really well.
While I won’t be getting rid of my 10yr old GHDs and I can and do use them for curling, they are a little bulkier and clunkier than these new ones which are by far nicer and better made.
The silicone heat mat is really handy to have. The brush is a paddle style and while theres nothing much to really say about it, it brushes my hair well and is well made.
While i don’t make a habit of spending a lot of money on straighteners, hence have the same set for 10yrs, this set at 160.00 (currently 17% off) is exactly what i’d expect to pay for this brand and quality.
Overall, really pleased with this set.
GHD is my fav brand for hair curlers and straighteners. These straighteners are amazing, heap up so quickly and presented so well so perfect for a gift. Leaves hair so soft and sleek and although you cannot adjust the heat, it is set at a heat (185 degree Celsius ) to both ensure effective stlying but also protect hair. Since using ghd hair straighteners (i also have the platinum one in white from couple years ago) I have noticed hair stays healthier for longer, less split ends
My daughter and I are very impressed with these GHD Hair straighteners. The came with a handy paddle brush, which we love even when not straightening our hair. there was also a handy bag, so would be great if traveling or for storage.
The heated up quickly and easy to use. They did not pull or snag my hair like cheaper ones can do! Left our hair super straight with a shine as well.
I tried to curl and found it equally as difficult to do as it does for me with other straighteners. Just something I have never been able too master. So this is not the products fault, but mine!! He He

I love these GHD’s and how well designed they are. The gold accents give them a luxurious feel and the overall design is sleek and modern. What I love even more about these straighteners is how fast they heat up. Being someone with naturally curly hair, I find it challenging to find the right tool to straighten my hair. But with these, I can straighten my hair quickly and effortlessly. Just one smooth glide through my hair and I have salon straight hair! They are pretty versatile too as the plates have a curve in them, I can also make perfect curls and waves.

The downsides/my opinion:
I have never owned GHDs until now so take that onboard first.
Straighteners:
My first impression was yes, they are very sleek, very fast at heating up and come in a lovely box for presentation or gift purposes.
I have fine, thin hair – shoulder length too. It doesn’t take much to do my hair. I have straightened my hair several times with it but it doesn’t look -as straight- as it has been with others that go to a higher temperature.
I have -attempted- to curl my hair and at this stage I was ready to throw it out the window, actually. When taking a piece of hair to curl, it feels like because of the grip of the straighteners, you can’t clamp it tight enough, especially when turning, to get the curl. The other annoyance is some sections of my hair then fall out during the turn for the curl – could be because I had too much hair sectioned off or it could also be the fact that the hot plate on these are approx 2-3 inches SHORTER than your average cheap amz brand – so for what you are used to you might have to leave more time aside to do your hair with really small sections.
There is no heat pad provided which I would have preferred to the silicone thing that comes with it.
The hairbrush is nice and wide, good grip, no overall issues with it.
Pricy for what you get barr the name of the item.
Have used the GHD brand for many years. They just seem to keep getting better as time goes on. But this GHD Gold advanced styler gift set is a great set.
Bought the GHD Gold hair straightener after my previous GHD Wonderland straightener developed fault. The GHD Gold straightener look good, packaged so perfectly in its sleek black box with gold writing makes it so classy and a perfect gift. I just spent sometime to appreciate the packaging itself.
Hair does not get caught in the plates. Heats up incredibly quickly, glides over my hair and leave my hair looking sleek all day. Really love the heat guard too.
The straighteners have a rapid heating time, so can be used within around a minute of switching on, which is especially great if your are in a rush, like I am most of the time. Brush as it makes drying your hair easier and makes for a good start to the process of straightening your hair. The cord is long enough to style your hair in comfort. Automatic sleep mode switches off after 30 minutes without use

The straighteners work well, which you would expect from GHD. There are just a couple of issues I found. Nothing of real consequence but enough for me not to be able to give 5 star.
Straightener is a bit too smooth I feel that they could slip out of my hand at any moment. Other straighteners normally have grippers where you hold them so I never felt that this would ever be an issue. Secondly, the electric plug is tiny and is difficult to remove from a socket although there are indentations to grip.
Have also found that the straightener doesn’t curl my hair as nicely as the original GHD did. Hard to explain the difference but I can certainly experience it evidently.
The straighteners do the job and I would definitely recommend them.
ghd really is the “go to” brand when it comes to hair straighteners.
I have never paid anywhere near the 152 that these cost (at time of writing), but they are also noticeably better than other straighteners I have used over the years.
Providing the reliability and durability of them sees me get a good few years’ service out of them, then I would say that they are worth the money – but it is still a pretty big outlay, which I can imagine would put some people off. Hence the four stars rather than the full five.

I’ve never owned GHD before as could never justify cost so my youngest daughter was delighted when I gave her these She says they straighten her shoulder length hair quickly and easily and they are also great for give hair loose curls and body.There is no denying this set is well made and looks classy and my daughter is over moon to own them but truthfully her hair looks no different done with these than did with previous straightener which was fraction of cost at 50ish and have served faithfully for last 3yrs.Lovely set and work well but I’m still not sure could justify cost although my daughter thinks 100% worth i
excellent styler, I only ever had the original ghd iron so can only compare this one to that and it’s way better, it glides freely through the hair with no snagging, it leaves the hair looking soft and shiny. The paddle brush is excellent too for my long hair can get it straightened in half the time of my old styler. Nice case with it to keep it stored/travel. Registered it for warranty too, all good

The hair straighteners have a sleek look with the power button on the inside. The hair straightening plates are sliver and glittery which looks super cute!
The hair straighteners are very user friendly one button to turn on with light and sound prompts to let you know when you have turned it on, off and when it has reached the correct temperature. They reach the correct temperature really quickly and glide through your hair making the whole hair styling process really quick and easy.
The paddle brush is chunky in a good way. It’s a nice big brush that looks luxurious.
The storage bag is great too, looks pretty by itself. It has a heat resistant lining which you can pull out of the bag slightly so you can rest your hair straighteners on whilst using, a brilliant design feature. The bag is also big enough to hold both hair straightener and hair brush.
The box they arrived in was slightly damaged at the corner but I think that was down to amazon packaging it in a bag instead of a box, it wasn’t too bad though.
My wife has been the user of these. This is her feedback. All in, this is a very nice set. While these are a little on the expensive side, they are noticeably better than cheaper alternatives. Are they better than their higher priced competitors? Debatable. They are certainly up there. They heat up quickly and hold a consistent temperature. I find them to be some of the best straighteners that I’ve used. I like the paddle brush they come with and particularly the leather travel case. It feels suitably high end. Thoroughly recommended.
The first thing you notice about this product when you come to use is the speed at which it heats up, whatever they put under those little plates of gold (a more silvery colour as it goes) does the job well. No weird clips or clasps to keep them shut, instead you get a silicone sheath that acts as a guard and heat resistant cover. Looks like the sort of thing that easily goes missing given the aftermarket results, not something you appear to be able to buy from ghd themselves so beware.
There is also a heat resistant bag (with magnetic fastener) and a large branded paddle brush. The bag is OK and will help keep them clean or secure if travelling. The brush isn’t something my wife says suits her, but its there either way – and worth 23 direct from ghd (or Amazon).
These are clearly very expensive for what they are, with other straighteners being sold for 90% cheaper but they do appear to do a very good job in comparison to others we’ve had. Price fluctuates, at time of purchase it was 179, now at just over 150 and has been as low as 139 (on Amazon at least). See it as an investment perhaps?
Decided to get these for my sister as the current set of GHD straighteners she has she has had for 12 year and still going strong so thought it was time for an upgrade to hand her set down to my niece who is heading for that teenage stage

Straightener and also used to curl my nieces hair! Both methods turned out amazing with great results as you can see. No hairdresser in the family so these are achievable looks by anyone using them.
The paddle brush to use when straightening is great to avoid touch by hand which can move sebum around the hair which gives that greasy appearance!
185C optimal styling temperature to minimise hair damage and hair breakage is also a major bonus in maintaining the quality of your hair and prevent damage by heat products!
The heat resistant bag provides protection of for the straighteners for packing and travelling and ensure that you can still pack them even if there is still heat coming off them causing less damage to your handbag or suitcase!
GHD will always be a product that I rate highly till they give me a reason not to!

I bought my first pair of ghd’s close to 20 years ago and they’re still going strong. I don’t use them as much as I once did though as I’m worried about them breaking and only really use them for special occasions now so have been trying other straighteners to find a worthy replacement. To be fair I think that any ghd product is better than most other products, but are any of them better than my first pair? I don’t think so, but these are nice to use and do a good job of straightening, they just don’t seem to get as hot as my old pair so it takes a bit longer. I have long, thick hair so need straighteners that can tame my mane as quickly as possible and these do work but it takes more passes through each section than I’m used to. They do a decent job though and the brush and pouch are a nice touch, even though I prefer my own brush and mat. These will be nice to take on a weekend away.
This is my first time trying ghd’s as I typically use a different brand that is a fraction of the price. I can definitely tell the difference in quality and my hair is silky smooth without getting caught on the edges of the plates and no random temperature variation. The constant 185 heat is great, it’s definitely made me aware my old straighteners were not working properly in comparison. The case it comes with is really handy to store them in and the heat protector end is also fab for keeping the plates closed together. The ghds make a noise when you turn on and off and also when they’re heated up, which is noticeably very fast. The paddle brush is a nice addition however I typically use a bristle brush and do prefer that. You’re ultimately paying for the straighteners though, not the brush. Overall I am very impressed with these. They lived up to my expectations. The price is a lot higher than I’ve previously paid for cheaper straighteners, but the quality does speak for itself and when it comes to keeping your hair healthier it is probably worth spending a bit more for less damage!
