Purchased as a gift to replace so older GHD’s, she is happy with them so that’s a win for me!
I am told they heat up quick, are lightweight and easy to use.
I’ve used GHD straighteners for over 20 years and these platinum GHD’s do not disappoint. They are lightweight, heat up in seconds and so easy to use. Happy with my purchase.
Now I’m not a fan of high end gadgets as usually a cheaper version does the job as well if not better.
However my wife tried these and is raving about them.
Great heat output but cool touch body allows her to straighten her long heavy hair easily. Also my daughters curly hair is no match for this.
Comes in a great gifting box if that’s your intention and has all the quality you would expect from ghd
Can’t say much about the product other than it brought my girlfriend plenty of joy and happiness this Christmas. She loves it. It was her favourite gift. I asked her if she would have preferred the larger paddle version, she confirmed no, as the larger one doesn’t allow you to create curls (or twirls?).
She also couldn’t believe how rapidly this hair straightener heated up. Her old one would take a good 5 minutes to get to temperature.
Anyway, would definitely recommend as a gift to someone who has thick uncontrollable hair.
Very easy to operate, I never burnt my hand while handling the straighteners like it does with other straighteners. my hair is shoulder length, so I have no problems with snagging. if I go 2 days without washing my hair, and my hair is still clean, I find that using the straighteners on second day of unwashed hair that it makes my hair greasy, so it is best to wash and dry your hair on the day you use the straighteners. I was tempted to purchase the Duet GHD straighteners, but unsure if Duet has the same technology as the GHD Platinum Plus, it is important to have the best technology for your hair.
I love how it has made a difference to my hairstyling. Not sure why but it doesn’t always turn on the first time I push the button.
I got my first pair of GHDs at 18 and 16 years later they still work (my mom has them) I’ve gone through many pairs since, dupes, limited edition GHD (I had some glass plate ones I didn’t like), other brands, most recently steam straighteners (if you know straighteners your know the brand) and honestly I didn’t think they could be topped but when given the chance to try these out I thought why not, and my steam ones haven’t seen the light of day since these arrived.
Presented beautifully in a red velvet carry case, they heat up super fast, they let you know if you’ve left them on and auto shut off. One quick sweep over my hair and its smooth and straight and it lasts days, I rarely straighten my hair between washes after the first time unless I need to wash / touch up my fringe. I curled my hair with them over 48 hours ago and even brushed out my hair still holds looser curls that look good, they would probably last until tomorrow but my roots could do with washing.
I didn’t expect to be as happy with them as I am. 5 stars
I have very fine hair and always very careful when styling. I love that these adapt the temperature to the thickness of hair. These are an upgrade to my ghd gold styler and there’s definitely a difference in results.
They come beautifully presented in a luxury red velvet box, complete with heat proof cover which is great for when you have young children about but also protects the plates when travelling and not in use.
There’s a long cable and a wishbone hinge which makes styling so easy and smooth with no tangled cables.
The straighteners heat up in seconds and the produce a sound when they reach the required temp and when switched on/off.
My hair feels great and instantly smooth with a nice shine. I have a bob haircut and these are great for turning in the ends, straightening and also producing waves.

I absolutely love GHD products and you will not be disappointed with GHD Platinum+ Styler Giftset Edition. The straighteners are easy to manoeuvre, heat up quickly and are good for styling straight or with a wave. The cord is long enough to style your hair in comfort. The straighteners feel really sturdy in your hand and they glide through your hair really well. I have thick course hair but they straighten it really well. They glide through your hair so much easier and don’t feel as if they are pulling or damaging your hair.
It feels like lately that GHD have new competition in the form of Dyson, and what once was the market leader for luxury hair hardware is now less heard of. However, I’ve had GHD’s for years and they’ve never failed – much unlike my Dyson products. These are an upgrade on my old ones (which still work, always a good sign) and I like the look, feel and use of them, though they do seem to have swapped out a few materials.
The extras are nice – the case is more useful than I thought, as it protects them when travelling and I like things that are purpose made to fit – plus like anything expensive, they always put it in packaging that’s perhaps not entirely necessary to justify the price you’re paying. It’s one of those I suppose.
The straighteners themselves, work as expected and as though they should for 200+ GHDs, with temperature control, quick heating and super soft straightening from the plates. The plates are easy to wipe if you do accidentally get product on them.
Overall I’m happy with them, they do what they say as advertised and are made very well.
I’ve used a few straighteners before, although rarely, and my girlfriend with wavy hair actually uses this more, but this is probably the best one I’ve used so far.

Very good size, and not too heavy. Comes with a pouch to carry it in, so portability is thought through thoroughly, which is great. Comfortable to hold, as it’s not too big and heavy.
My girlfriend’s hair is only wavy, so one stroke and her hair straightens out, so the effects are good.
229.00 isn’t cheap though. Straighteners of all brands and variations do come cheaper, but some damage hair quite badly, while this one works very well, although it is very costly. That said, compared to the likes of a Dyson Airwrap, this is much cheaper, but I’ve never used a Dyson Airwrap to be able to compare. This is just a straightener though, so less styling options, although with skill, I’m sure there’s a lot this can achieve, including creating wavy hair or even curls.
Overall, this is great and recommendable.
I love using this hair straightener every day. I even use it on days when I am staying at home because I love how fast and easy it is to transform my fizzy hair into gorgeous straight, shiny and professional-looking hairstyles.
Even with using it every day, I haven’t noticed any damage to my hair. What a fantastic upgrade from my old, hair-damaging, hair straightener.
This set came with a lovely bag, a professional GDH hairbrush, hair straighteners and a safety cover for the straightener. I am very happy with the cover that I can put on, just after turning off the straightener, to keep it away from causing any risk of burning to myself or the surfaces in my home. A simple and brilliant little addition.
This GHD hair straightener is perfect. It is turning on with a lovely sound and after about 10 seconds another sound lets me know that it is ready to use. When turning it off it makes a sound to let me know that it is off. The on/off button is inside the mouth of the straightener to prevent accidentally switching it off. Again, a simple and perfect addition to an amazing product.
The first time I used this straightener I could not believe how quick and easy it was to make my hair look gorgeous. Only one ‘run’ throw my hair and they already look great. Two minutes later my hair was all done. I was totally shocked at what and amazing experience this was.
The feeling of amazement has worn off now, but the satisfaction from doing my hair, and occasionally seeing my reflection in a mirror, is still present every single day.
Even my partner notices that I have done my hair and he definitely likes my new look. What can I say, other than if a man notices your hair, you are clearly doing something great with them.
This is GHD which has been around for years and offer top quality product and this is no exception. I have used other straightener in my younger years as they were a lot cheaper but wished I had invest in one of these earlier.
This is good for for straightening and curling. I like the rounded narrow which allows you to easily flick / curl your hair in. As you are doing it Arch section of your hair you can be very precise.
This model is excellent as it has a smart technology which some how adjusts its temperature base on what that particular section of your hair needs. This alone justify the price of 229. The result is achieved at much loweR temperature compared to other models and that will give less damage to your hair especially if you use it often.
I would still use heat protection spray obviously as it’s still heat !
My hair is shinier and I find it really easy to use, and the cord is designed to swivel smoothly when you move from one side to another top to bottom.

Absolutely love these Platinum+ straighteners! I’ve used many different straighteners in the past, but these ones definitely come out on top.
The gold colour of the straighteners is beautiful and adds a lavish touch of style. The design is sleek and modern, and the straighteners feel well made and comfortable to hold.
The performance of these GHDs is outstanding. They heat up incredibly quickly and adapt to the right temperature for my hair to minimum damage whilst maximising styling. Just one glide through my hair and its left looking smooth, healthy and frizz free. They are fantastic at styling with ease and proceed salon quality results quickly in no time at all.
Overall, I highly recommend the GHD Platinum+ hair straighteners to anyone looking for a high quality professional styling tool. The gold colour is a beautiful touch, and the performance is exceptional. It’s definitely worth the investment for those who want to achieve salon worthy styles at home.
These are excellent quality straighteners which do a fantastic job very quickly. I have used a few different types of straighteners but these are by far the best; they’re also by far the most expensive.
I don’t know how they differ to any other brand in terms of how they work, but they noticeably do. And they are very nicely presented too – they’d make a great gift.

This is the best hair straightener I have used so far.It comes in a fantastic packaging,it has a very beautiful red velvet box.The straightener is small,fine,has a very beautiful champagne color.It has a heat of 185C which is perfect for not damaging the hair and it heats up much faster than some other hair straighteners.The plates are ceramic,they straighten the hair quickly and well,give volume and a fantastic shine.I would absolutely recommend it.

As always, fantastic quality hair straighteners/styler by ghd. I hope these stand the test of time, but ghd are in general, very good quality, so I’m sure they will.
This gift set comes with the Platinum+ smart straighteners/styler, a heat-resistant bag and a paddle hair brush. It’s a shame it doesn’t come with the heat-resistant mat like in the last photo, as I think that would have just finished this gift set off nicely; and it comes with the ‘Curve Creative Curl Wand Gift Set’, so I’m not sure why they haven’t included it in this one.
The straighteners are super quick to heat up to temperature and I love that there are sensors to keep them at the right temperature, so your hair is less likely to be damaged. Super easy to use and I have very long, thick hair (fine hair strands, but a lot of hair) and I had no problems straightening my hair.
Whilst this gift set is expensive, ghd are definitely worth the investment in my opinion. You can definitely tell the difference between low price, low quality straighteners and higher price, higher quality straighteners – not only from how the product psychically looks and feels, but in the styling outcome.
Therefore, I would definitely recommend this product.
GHD have a great reputation for hair and styling tools and this limited edition set of hair straighteners demonstrate why that is well-founded.
Not only do they look fantastic with their sleek attractive looks and classy champagne colour scheme (contrasting well with the bright red ‘velvet’ with gold trim travel/storage box) but the quality shines through in both their design and performance.
The straighteners have a nice weighty feel about them but are not too heavy and are easy to hold and use, greatly aided by the swivel power cord connection, which prevents it tangling and snagging when in use.
They heat up to operating temperature really quickly and then glide smoothly through your hair leaving it soft and straight. There is also a silicon heat proof plate guard included to prevent people and/or surfaces being burned after use.
My wife’s verdict was that these were the best hair straighteners that she has ever used and, whilst they are by no means cheap, if you can afford to, it’s well worth paying the extra for their top-class quality and performance.

These are proper GHD quality, my wife has used GHD’s for years and swears by them and these aren’t any different.
The newer technology to lower the heat but still straighten works flawlessly and my wife was impressed as she normally has the temperature much higher.
They look fantastic and come in a very fancy box.
I can’t say much more about how good they are as they are GHD’s, much better than any cheaper straighteners.
Downsides are the very cheap musical chimes they play when you switch them on and get up to temperature remind me of a cheap Chinese Bluetooth speaker, they could have just had a beep or something.
The second not so good thing is the tiny rubber heat protector which slips over the end. It does the job but my wife puts her straighteners down while combing and would have benefited from a heat mat.
My wife owns a 5 heat mat/pouch from Amazon and these fit perfectly inside to keep them safe.
Overall very good, very expensive and cheaped out on a couple of non essential bits.
A luxurious, expensive feel GHD platinum straighteners, which works accordingly. I use heat protection spray first and then I apply the straightener on to my roots and then the ends. As I have coarse curly hair it takes a few tries for me to get the perfect straight hair. Gives my hair a sort of shine once I finished using this straightener. It comes with a paddle brush which is effective for styling and blow-drying. Comes in handy, if your hair is brittle and you want to smoothen it.
I really love these straighteners. They look nice e and come with a heat resistant cover for the plates and a storage box. They heat up quickly and are really nice to use – gliding over the hair without pulling or burning. They make quite a loud and fairly unattractive noise when turning them on and off, and when they get up to temperature,but this takes nothing away from the performance.

First of all these ghd Straighteners are the best Straighteners I’ve ever used. Before having these Straighteners I was using cloud 9 which were really good but these ones are that bit better.
They don’t take long to heat up at all and they do a great job at Straightening my hair. I only needed to go over each strand of hair once and it was straight which is amazing and time saving especially if you’re anything like me and have no time to mess about in the mornings or have a teenage daughter trying to run off with the Straighteners. We’ve also used the Straighteners for curling our hair and that turned out good too, alot quicker than using curlers and our hair looked healthy afterwards too. I also love how long the cable is on these ghd Straighteners and the case that comes with them is brilliant for storing them in and quite stylish too. My little girl said it’s very fancy. The Straighteners do have an auto shut off aswel that turns the Straighteners off after around half an hour, maybe if they shut off after 15 mins that would be abit better but to be honest I don’t think there’s anything I dislike about them so if you want some decent, good quality Straighteners that do a good job and quickly then these are exactly that. They would make a fantastic gift for anyone. I’d highly recommend them.
These straighters are brilliant. So smooth to the hair, heat up very quickly, so easy to use. Beautifully presented, the red box is an added bonus.
These are the perfect straighteners, they work brilliantly on my medium length hair keeping my hair straight for a long time and leaving my hair shiny. They heat up super quick in seconds and also come with a lovely protective cover you can use straight away. The gold champagne is lovely and they come in a luxurious red case which makes it a lovely gift and good for travelling.
I was a bit unhappy with the packaging for this ghds Platinum styler Christmas gift set. The box came wrapped in an open-ended plastic bag. Then the box itself was just open. No seals on it at all. Initially, I thought this might be an effort to reduce plastic packaging. But this doesn’t really stack up as the box came in a plastic bag and the stylers themselves are presented in a moulded tray made from hard to recycle black plastic. There’s even a little strip of plastic over the hardware on the storage bag. The absence of seals makes these look like a used return. The box itself is quite nice – made from stiff cardboard, with a lift off lid – but the lack of seals is concerning.
I received the set free to review, and I don’t know if this presentation is typical of how these come, or just something that had been done to review items. If it’s the former, which judging by the grumbling in the question and answers section it seems as though it might be, I’m really not impressed.
In all other respects this is a fantastic set, that I’m thrilled with. I have very fine, naturally almost completely straight hair so for straightening and styling, I have to be ultra careful to avoid damage. ghd straighteners are the best, and the gloss plates on the platinum edition really do work – I have a gold set I’ve had for a couple of years and you can definitely see the difference in finish after using these.
As ever for ghds, these have exemplary features: a long, rotating cord so they’re easy to turn and work with; plates that are a nicely balanced width for both straightening and creating curls/waves; a power switch that’s easy to use without being prone to accidentally shutting the stylers off; light weight. The black finish is understated and smart-looking. The wishbone hinge design of the platinum edition version makes the opening and closing mechanism incredibly light and easy to work with, giving it an almost bouncing, squeeze and release action.
A heat protective mat isn’t included, but in the box you do get a heat resistant silicone tip cover, a really good quality paddle hairbrush, and a well-made, attractive-looking heat resistant storage/carry bag. The storage bag has a divider flap section inside to keep the stylers separate from other items/away from their power cord.
Although described as a Christmas set, there’s nothing Christmassy about the packaging, so if you were thinking of getting this as a present it’s fine for any time of year and likely to be much appreciated.
It’s just a shame the box isn’t sealed.
I always say – you get what you’ve paid for. In this case you get high ghd quality and performance. The curls are done with ease and they hold up long. The best thing about this straightener is that the on button is on the inside (I go crazy with my old straightener as I constantly turn it off while using as the on/off button is on the outside).
Another thing it heats up literally with seconds.
Comes in a beautiful presentation box, for storage or as a gift . I love the silicone sleeve to keep it protected. The brush is ok, handle is better quality than actual brushing bit, it’s just standard. Best for a lot of hair not thin hair (although it will work too). Storage bag is great, has 2 hidden magnetic clips on each side. Great for traveling.
