Yes you can use this on modern digital cameras but its a great option for non TTL film cameras. Vintage flash units are cheap but a lot of them are failing due to age. It’s nice to see Godox make a flash to fill the need for vintage equipment. What’s old is new again. The dial is not as easy to use as some old vintage distancing tables like on my Pentax AF200s but works. The guide number is 14 at ISO 100 if you are willing to calculate the power and distance yourself. The dish throws a lot of light that I find is good for 8ft but over blows the image at 6ft. Remember to pop the “bulb” out, I’ve accidently lost a frame by not paying attention. There is a green ready like if I paid attention. Also remember to push the “bulb” back in before closing.
Der Retro Kamerablitz ist sehr gut verarbeitet, sehr robust und schaut auch noch wirklich sehr schn und edel aus, Preis Leistungsverhltnis ist hier wirklich top.
Ich habe diesen Kamerablitz auf 2 Spiegelreflexkameras verwendet, bei allen beiden Kameras hat es sofort ohne Probleme funktioniert, es gab berhaupt keine Probleme bei der Funktion.
Natrlich kann hier wie bei allen modernen Blitzen ISO ,Entfernung ,Manuelle Modus, Automatische Modus usw gewhlt werden, es schaut zwar wie ein Retro Blitz aus aber natrlich ist es in Wirklichkeit eine ganz moderne Blitz im Retro Stil.
Die Helligkeit ist wirklich enorm stark ,ich habe sogar in absoluter Dunkelheit ohne berhaupt ein bisschen Licht mit dem Kamerablitz hier sehr gute Ergebnisse erzielt, ich kann es wirklich nur weiterempfehlen.
Wer einen starken Blitz braucht der auch noch sehr schn ausschaut der sollte hier zugreifen, ich habe hier nichts Negatives gefunden auer die Anleitung ,der ist nmlich berhaupt nicht gut fr erfahrene Nutzer ist eine Anleitung natrlich nicht so wichtig wie fr einen Anfnger, weil ein Anfnger wre mit der Anleitung und mit diesem Blitz ein bisschen berfordert.
Von mir kriegt es 5 Sterne weniger geht es wirklich nicht, wegen der Anleitung ziehe ich jetzt natrlich keinen Stern ab weil ich komme mit dem Blitz auch ohne Anleitung sehr gut aus weil ich schon sehr lange fotografiere und mehr als 7 verschiedene Blitze habe .

Meine Spiegelreflexkamera hat einen integrierten Blitz, und der ist eigentlich auch absolut ausreichend. Testen wollte Ich diesen Retro-Kamerablitz dennoch!
Design und Optik ist wie Ich finde wirklich sehr gut gelungen. Es sieht retro aber nicht schbig aus.
Auch die gefhlte Wertigkeit ist vorhanden und passt zum Preis.
Die Anleitung ist eher unntz und sollte definitiv berarbeitet werden, deshalb einen Stern Abzug.
Trotz schlechter Anleitung hab Ich es trotzdem zum Laufen gebracht, und da steckt ordentlich Licht dahinter!
Blitzen tut das Ganze mit einer Glhbirne statt LED, finde Ich sehr cool! Geblitzt wird definitiv in Kaltwei.
Ich finds schick und preislich angemessen. Anleitung gehrt berarbeitet, deshalb nur 4 Sterne!
If you want a retro looking flash, this thing is awesome. My primary deciding factor is the vintage look. It is beautiful and fun. It works flawlessly as a flash, complete with some unique character.
It functions as a basic fill flash. If that is your primary goal, it does that really well. And it’s simple and elegant design allow it to work with any hotshoe, which is cool.
The compact folded size is great for throwing in your camera bag or pocket.
It does have a few missed bit of opportunity though. My main gripe is the lack of battery indicator. You don’t have any way of knowing how much charge is left on the flash. This means I bring a back up flash for important work .
I would have LOVED if it could have had a wireless (R2) integration – even at a higher price point. I love the Godox R2 system and could have done some cool practical applications with remote triggering. It’s so pretty of a light.
Having some TTL features (again at a higher cost) would also have been really nice.
The flash itself is great. I hope it gains popularity so it can get some enhancements for future models.
Der Godox Retroblitz ist ein Hingucker. Gerade in der Potrtfotografie an einer silbernen Kamera ein Traum. Die Blitzleistung lsst sich rckseitig durch zwei Wahlrder einstellen. Auerdem gibt es zwei Leistungsstufen. Und schon kann es im Grunde losgehen. Einzige Einschrnkung ist tatschlich das permanent direkte blitzen.
Trs bon rendu, et effet vintage. La prise en main n’est pas simple,car la notice n’est pas top. Adapt sur un appareil de marque Sony. Faire de nombreux essais avant de le matriser. Je recommande
This retro Godox Lux senior looks completely different to the strobes on the market today and if you love the look you just have to have it. It folds down to a compact easy to pack block with the flash bulb safely protected.
The controls take a bit of getting used to. Even the manual power control requires reading the manual.
Apart from manual control there is an auto setting , but this must still be dialed in to take into account subject to flash distance , aperture and ISO. The flash assumes f2.8 ISO 100 as a starting point so you must adjust from there.
The flash gives a , currently popular, on-camera flash look, or , at lower power works really well as a fill flash.
There is no adjustment or rotating option so this strobe can’t be used for bounce flash.
There are 2 optical slave modes however, there is no radio trigger and this flash is not part of the excellent Godox R2 system , which is a missed opportunity I feel.
The internal battery , like other Godox products has excellent life however, it can’t be swapped out and you cant see the charge level.
The single pin means that even older cameras that don’t work with newer strobes can use this flash. Here it is attached to an old Nikon Coolpix A (which has a leaf shutter so can actually use this flash at every speed up to 1/2000 of a second ) .
The Nikon A has a 28mm equivalent focal length length lens and the flash does not cover the frame, appearing more like a spotlight. I noticed vignetting on 35mm focal length and wider, this can be used creatively if you like the look.
I do like this flash , however I feel just a little tilt or rotation would have been possible and greatly increase the shooting options. Maybe I am missing the point of this flash and the 1 look is what it is designed for.
Godox has an incredible range of speedlights and although the retro looks of the Lus Senior are unique , I feel this is expensive compared to the features available in their other products.

Il est de plus trs compact : la “parabole” se dploie en faisant pivoter les diffrents lments et le tout se replie ensuite dans le botier du flash.
Le systme est trs ingnieux et permet de tout bien ranger et protger quand le flash n’est pas utilis.
Il dispose, de plus, d’une batterie rechargeable par USB-C (le cordon est fourni).

Schon beim Auspacken, hat mich das Retro Design total in den Bann gezogen. Es ist wirklich erstaunlich und wunderbar, dass sich Hersteller immer wieder aufs Neue etwas einfallen lassen, was den Kufer staunen lsst.
Das Design und die Haptik dieses Blitzgerts ist super. Der Godox Lux Senior Retro-Kamerablitz verspricht sehr viel Spa. Allein das Bereitmachen ist schon eine Zeremonie fr sich. Man klappt das Gehuse hoch und zieht den Reflektor mit einer Kreisbewegung auf. Den Blitz aktiviert man, in dem man die Blitzbirne entriegelt.
Auf der Rckseite zeigt sich dann, dass hinter dem Retrodesign ein leistungsstarker Blitzapparat hngt. Der Blitz kann manuell aber auch mit automatischer Untersttzung bedient werden. Es gibt 2 Leistungsstufen S1 und S2. Am Wahlrad, was simpel aufgebaut und zugleich sehr durchdacht ist, kann man Entfernung, ISO, Brennweite bzw. Blitzleistung vorwhlen.
Das Ergebnis ist super. Der Blitz hat eine klasse Leistung und tut genau das was er soll. Neben dem wunderschnen Design das Motiv auszuleuchten.
Der Blitz hat einen internen Akku mit 1700mAH. Ich habe ihn auf meine X-T4 von Fuji gepackt. Er ist aber mit allen gngigen Modellen kompatibel.
Ich kann das Produkt sehr empfehlen.

I’m totally in love with the vintage look that this flash has. Paired with my Fujifilm X-T3, I get a fantastic duo. This may seem like it isn’t the most effective in terms of how bright the light gets, but it actually gets fairly bright.
The overall interface is easy to use. It’s intuitive, and a quick look at the instruction manual will leave you with enough knowledge to operate this completely.
The built-in rechargeable battery makes the experience so much easier. I disliked having to use AA batteries on my previous flash.
Personally, I’d buy this again with my own money. I absolutely recommend it if you want that vintage look on your camera. It’s simple, and it works exceptionally well.
I’m impressed by this little retro style flash. Easily installed on my Sony A7R3 via the hot shoe, it is so stylish and fairly easy to use. Just tune to the right setting on your camera, turn on the wireless flash, and bang, you have a stylish flash to use. Not the most powerful flash out there but you get the stylish.
Be very careful about the bulb though. In order to make it work, you have to pop the bulb out. but do remember to retract it before closing the lid…otherwise, you will need a new bulb…
This is definitely a unique on-camera flash. But the ‘retro’ aesthetic of this flash isn’t purely cosmetic, and serves the overall function of the flash as well.
Since the flash folds out, when its closed, the ‘retro’ outer shell serves to protect the flash, eliminating the need to use a separate case. This also makes the flash super compact, more so than a speedlight.
Second, the built-in radial reflector makes for an excellent diffuser! I was really surprised to see just how much it softened the light coming out of this flash! Without the reflector the flash is substantially less bright, so keep that in mind as well. I included some photos showing the difference between using the flash without the reflector deployed, and with the reflector. Big difference.
Third, its really easy to use. I’ve used it with both my Nikon and my Canon DSLR and mirrorless cameras, respectively. It worked great with both of them.
The back of the flash has a dial where you can adjust the output between full brightness down to 1/64, for a total of 7 increments. You’ll also find the ability to set the flash to either slave 1 or slave 2 mode. To turn the unit on, just toggle the switch from off to either M or A, for manual or auto modes, respectively. There’s also a guide dial there to help you figure out how to set the parameters on the flash and your camera with respect to your subject.
I wil say that the flash is pricey. Its definitely not as bright as a typical speedlight, (GN46 vs GN58ish) but it provides a different functionality. I’d say its perfect for portraits since the reflector does such a good job at diffusing the light hitting the subject.
Oh, and it comes with a built in battery that’s easily recharged via USB-C.

Per usarlo occorre infatti aprire lo sportello anteriore, ruotare la parabola in alluminio ed estrarre la lampadina con il pulsante rosso. Per chiuderlo occorre fare il procedimento inverso. Non occorre inserire le batterie perch gi integrata una batteria ricaricabile al suo interno che si ricarica tramite porta type-c.
Il flash leggero e molto portatile ed adatto per soggetti non troppo lontano o come luce di riempimento. Permette di essere usato anche come flash secondario perch pu attivarsi tramite il lampo di altri flash, anche con quelli che hanno la funzione prelampo. Il flash compatibile con qualsiasi fotocamera.
Cercavo qualcosa per la mia fotocamera vintage e nelle vibrazioni e nello stile retr possibile ritrovare uno spirito veramente luminoso. Sono alla ricerca di uno stile e di una bellezza vintage, Godox Lux Senior il flash giusto, ricreando cos un nuovo effetto classico e penso di averlo trovato.
Certo abbiamo un flash dove il numero guida 14 quindi non abbiamo una torcia potente ma credetemi che basta a rendere le vostro foto particolarmente luminose al punto giusto di essere veramente al meglio.

Ho trovato un controllo della luce immediato e adottando lo stesso metodo di funzionamento del Lux Junior, il nuovo Godox Lux Senior offre anche due modalit di controllo della luce: la modalit flash automatico e la modalit flash manuale. La ghiera sul retro rende facile ed intuitivo l’utilizzo.
Ma rimane pur sempre un bellissimo flash da accoppiare alla mia macchinetta vintage. Non ovviamente un oggetto indispensabile in quanto esistono flash con caratteristiche tecniche nettamente superiori, ma per avere una giusta illuminazione mentre si in giro, oltre che per dare un tocco di magia in pi alle foto che scattiamo, sicuramente un buon prodotto.

This flash is an excellent addition to any kit or your first flash!
I put this to the test on my Sony A74. I just mounted the flash in the hot shoe, opened the door, released the flash bulb, spread the blades, turned it on, and said smile! Click! That simple!
I took a few photos with the Sony a74 and added them to my review. The others are pics of the flash… with a true retro flash in the background. You can see this modern unit is a trip to the past! Add this to any camera or your retro camera body and shoot.
Tech stuff:
– Size is great! I can drop it in my pocket and set it up to use in seconds. smooth clean shape, easy to carry.
– USBC Charger. Simple to charge with a USB cable. No indicator for remaining power but it seems to hold a charge forever! More testing to see how it holds for longer usage.
– The “leaves” of the flash fold are super simple and create a larger light source than I expected. I was impressed with the power… I used manual mode and turned the power all the way down for close shots.
– Overly simple to use. Turn it to auto and enjoy!
– Built-in battery. Keep it simple. Recharge and go…
I’m heading to Boston MA in a few weeks and will put to additional tests for tourist-type photos, street shots, when I tour dark places, etc…. It fits the mold for a “walkabout” flash in Boston. That retro look, and feel with the performance and functionality I need are going to make this a perfect lightweight flash for our trip.
I look forward to using this on a regular basis… A full-size flash is often too big to carry so I’d leave it at home. This unit is sized perfectly to travel with me all the time.
The box had a soft carry bag and trigger cable. I might add a hard case at a later point for rugged travel.

Blitzen tut das Ganze mit einer Glhbirne statt LED, finde Ich sehr cool! Geblitzt wird definitiv in Kaltwei.

If you want a retro looking flash, this thing is awesome. My primary deciding factor is the vintage look. It is beautiful and fun. It works flawlessly as a flash, complete with some unique character.
It functions as a basic fill flash. If that is your primary goal, it does that really well. And it’s simple and elegant design allow it to work with any hotshoe, which is cool.
The compact folded size is great for throwing in your camera bag or pocket.
It does have a few missed bit of opportunity though. My main gripe is the lack of battery indicator. You don’t have any way of knowing how much charge is left on the flash. This means I bring a back up flash for important work .
I would have LOVED if it could have had a wireless (R2) integration – even at a higher price point. I love the Godox R2 system and could have done some cool practical applications with remote triggering. It’s so pretty of a light.
Having some TTL features (again at a higher cost) would also have been really nice.
The flash itself is great. I hope it gains popularity so it can get some enhancements for future models.
Der Godox Retroblitz ist ein Hingucker. Gerade in der Potrtfotografie an einer silbernen Kamera ein Traum. Die Blitzleistung lsst sich rckseitig durch zwei Wahlrder einstellen. Auerdem gibt es zwei Leistungsstufen. Und schon kann es im Grunde losgehen. Einzige Einschrnkung ist tatschlich das permanent direkte blitzen.

Its not the best flash, far from it, but who cares. People love seeing it and its fun. Top marks.
This retro Godox Lux senior looks completely different to the strobes on the market today and if you love the look you just have to have it. It folds down to a compact easy to pack block with the flash bulb safely protected.
The controls take a bit of getting used to. Even the manual power control requires reading the manual.
Apart from manual control there is an auto setting , but this must still be dialed in to take into account subject to flash distance , aperture and ISO. The flash assumes f2.8 ISO 100 as a starting point so you must adjust from there.
The flash gives a , currently popular, on-camera flash look, or , at lower power works really well as a fill flash.
There is no adjustment or rotating option so this strobe can’t be used for bounce flash.
There are 2 optical slave modes however, there is no radio trigger and this flash is not part of the excellent Godox R2 system , which is a missed opportunity I feel.
The internal battery , like other Godox products has excellent life however, it can’t be swapped out and you cant see the charge level.
The single pin means that even older cameras that don’t work with newer strobes can use this flash. Here it is attached to an old Nikon Coolpix A (which has a leaf shutter so can actually use this flash at every speed up to 1/2000 of a second ) .
The Nikon A has a 28mm equivalent focal length length lens and the flash does not cover the frame, appearing more like a spotlight. I noticed vignetting on 35mm focal length and wider, this can be used creatively if you like the look.
I do like this flash , however I feel just a little tilt or rotation would have been possible and greatly increase the shooting options. Maybe I am missing the point of this flash and the 1 look is what it is designed for.
Godox has an incredible range of speedlights and although the retro looks of the Lus Senior are unique , I feel this is expensive compared to the features available in their other products.

Un flash vraiment trs sympa, au design vintage, et fourni dans un petit coffret du plus bel effet.
Il est de plus trs compact : la “parabole” se dploie en faisant pivoter les diffrents lments et le tout se replie ensuite dans le botier du flash.
Le systme est trs ingnieux et permet de tout bien ranger et protger quand le flash n’est pas utilis.
Il dispose, de plus, d’une batterie rechargeable par USB-C (le cordon est fourni).
Une trs belle ide cadeau.

Le rsultat est trs correcte on a des prise de photo bien quilibr qui ne sature pas dans les niveaux haut et sur les 2 appareils
La parabole permet belle diffusion de la lumire qui vite l’effet directif

Das Design und die Haptik dieses Blitzgerts ist super. Der Godox Lux Senior Retro-Kamerablitz verspricht sehr viel Spa. Allein das Bereitmachen ist schon eine Zeremonie fr sich. Man klappt das Gehuse hoch und zieht den Reflektor mit einer Kreisbewegung auf. Den Blitz aktiviert man, in dem man die Blitzbirne entriegelt.
Auf der Rckseite zeigt sich dann, dass hinter dem Retrodesign ein leistungsstarker Blitzapparat hngt. Der Blitz kann manuell aber auch mit automatischer Untersttzung bedient werden. Es gibt 2 Leistungsstufen S1 und S2. Am Wahlrad, was simpel aufgebaut und zugleich sehr durchdacht ist, kann man Entfernung, ISO, Brennweite bzw. Blitzleistung vorwhlen.
Das Ergebnis ist super. Der Blitz hat eine klasse Leistung und tut genau das was er soll. Neben dem wunderschnen Design das Motiv auszuleuchten.
Der Blitz hat einen internen Akku mit 1700mAH. Ich habe ihn auf meine X-T4 von Fuji gepackt. Er ist aber mit allen gngigen Modellen kompatibel.
Ich kann das Produkt sehr empfehlen.
Kann ich den Kamerablitz empfehlen oder wrde ich mich wieder dafr entscheiden? Sagen wir so: Die Blitzleistung ist berzeugend, lsst sich gut befestigen, strt nicht und ist einfach in der Handhabung. Kann ich somit empfehlen.
I’m totally in love with the vintage look that this flash has. Paired with my Fujifilm X-T3, I get a fantastic duo. This may seem like it isn’t the most effective in terms of how bright the light gets, but it actually gets fairly bright.
The overall interface is easy to use. It’s intuitive, and a quick look at the instruction manual will leave you with enough knowledge to operate this completely.
The built-in rechargeable battery makes the experience so much easier. I disliked having to use AA batteries on my previous flash.
Personally, I’d buy this again with my own money. I absolutely recommend it if you want that vintage look on your camera. It’s simple, and it works exceptionally well.
I’m impressed by this little retro style flash. Easily installed on my Sony A7R3 via the hot shoe, it is so stylish and fairly easy to use. Just tune to the right setting on your camera, turn on the wireless flash, and bang, you have a stylish flash to use. Not the most powerful flash out there but you get the stylish.
Be very careful about the bulb though. In order to make it work, you have to pop the bulb out. but do remember to retract it before closing the lid…otherwise, you will need a new bulb…
This is definitely a unique on-camera flash. But the ‘retro’ aesthetic of this flash isn’t purely cosmetic, and serves the overall function of the flash as well.
Since the flash folds out, when its closed, the ‘retro’ outer shell serves to protect the flash, eliminating the need to use a separate case. This also makes the flash super compact, more so than a speedlight.
Second, the built-in radial reflector makes for an excellent diffuser! I was really surprised to see just how much it softened the light coming out of this flash! Without the reflector the flash is substantially less bright, so keep that in mind as well. I included some photos showing the difference between using the flash without the reflector deployed, and with the reflector. Big difference.
Third, its really easy to use. I’ve used it with both my Nikon and my Canon DSLR and mirrorless cameras, respectively. It worked great with both of them.
The back of the flash has a dial where you can adjust the output between full brightness down to 1/64, for a total of 7 increments. You’ll also find the ability to set the flash to either slave 1 or slave 2 mode. To turn the unit on, just toggle the switch from off to either M or A, for manual or auto modes, respectively. There’s also a guide dial there to help you figure out how to set the parameters on the flash and your camera with respect to your subject.
I wil say that the flash is pricey. Its definitely not as bright as a typical speedlight, (GN46 vs GN58ish) but it provides a different functionality. I’d say its perfect for portraits since the reflector does such a good job at diffusing the light hitting the subject.
Oh, and it comes with a built in battery that’s easily recharged via USB-C.
Overall, I’m diggin it.

Questo flash molto simile ai flash degli anni setttanta, il suo funzionamento completamente manuale e il bello che molto compatto da chiuso. Per usarlo occorre infatti aprire lo sportello anteriore, ruotare la parabola in alluminio ed estrarre la lampadina con il pulsante rosso. Per chiuderlo occorre fare il procedimento inverso. Non occorre inserire le batterie perch gi integrata una batteria ricaricabile al suo interno che si ricarica tramite porta type-c.
Il flash leggero e molto portatile ed adatto per soggetti non troppo lontano o come luce di riempimento. Permette di essere usato anche come flash secondario perch pu attivarsi tramite il lampo di altri flash, anche con quelli che hanno la funzione prelampo. Il flash compatibile con qualsiasi fotocamera.
Cercavo qualcosa per la mia fotocamera vintage e nelle vibrazioni e nello stile retr possibile ritrovare uno spirito veramente luminoso. Sono alla ricerca di uno stile e di una bellezza vintage, Godox Lux Senior il flash giusto, ricreando cos un nuovo effetto classico e penso di averlo trovato.
Certo abbiamo un flash dove il numero guida 14 quindi non abbiamo una torcia potente ma credetemi che basta a rendere le vostro foto particolarmente luminose al punto giusto di essere veramente al meglio.

Sotto mano ho un flash con effetto nostalgico, con il flash Lux Senior, possibile ricreare in uno scatto l’insostituibile look nostalgico glamour, scatenando l’originale bellezza classica degli anni ’60 senza l’utilizzo di alcun filtro fotografico.
Ho trovato un controllo della luce immediato e adottando lo stesso metodo di funzionamento del Lux Junior, il nuovo Godox Lux Senior offre anche due modalit di controllo della luce: la modalit flash automatico e la modalit flash manuale. La ghiera sul retro rende facile ed intuitivo l’utilizzo.
Ma rimane pur sempre un bellissimo flash da accoppiare alla mia macchinetta vintage. Non ovviamente un oggetto indispensabile in quanto esistono flash con caratteristiche tecniche nettamente superiori, ma per avere una giusta illuminazione mentre si in giro, oltre che per dare un tocco di magia in pi alle foto che scattiamo, sicuramente un buon prodotto.
Love the vintage look and feel to this flash. It also doubles as a bare bulb flash if you don’t open the dish for indoor shots.

This flash is an excellent addition to any kit or your first flash!
I put this to the test on my Sony A74. I just mounted the flash in the hot shoe, opened the door, released the flash bulb, spread the blades, turned it on, and said smile! Click! That simple!
I took a few photos with the Sony a74 and added them to my review. The others are pics of the flash… with a true retro flash in the background. You can see this modern unit is a trip to the past! Add this to any camera or your retro camera body and shoot.
Tech stuff:
– Size is great! I can drop it in my pocket and set it up to use in seconds. smooth clean shape, easy to carry.
– USBC Charger. Simple to charge with a USB cable. No indicator for remaining power but it seems to hold a charge forever! More testing to see how it holds for longer usage.
– The “leaves” of the flash fold are super simple and create a larger light source than I expected. I was impressed with the power… I used manual mode and turned the power all the way down for close shots.
– Overly simple to use. Turn it to auto and enjoy!
– Built-in battery. Keep it simple. Recharge and go…
I’m heading to Boston MA in a few weeks and will put to additional tests for tourist-type photos, street shots, when I tour dark places, etc…. It fits the mold for a “walkabout” flash in Boston. That retro look, and feel with the performance and functionality I need are going to make this a perfect lightweight flash for our trip.
I look forward to using this on a regular basis… A full-size flash is often too big to carry so I’d leave it at home. This unit is sized perfectly to travel with me all the time.
The box had a soft carry bag and trigger cable. I might add a hard case at a later point for rugged travel.
If you like that retro look and want a performance low-cost flash… This is PERFECT!
