It’s a must have if you carry this speaker all ove
If you frequently take your Roam speaker out and about for adventures, this case is a must. I love that it provides protection against the occasional bumps. This case is a little rigid out of the box, so definitely read the instructions about heating it up before attempting to put it on your speaker. I like the design as it helps protect all the “corners” and the back of the speaker. I also like the carabiner that comes with it so you can attach it when you are on the go. I do wish it would work with the wireless charger- this feels like a missed opportunity, especially given the difficulty to remove this case once it’s on. I’m a huge fan of the wireless charger, so this does factor into my rating.
I have 3 Sonos Roam speakers and I always have a hard time telling them apart. Two are used as a stereo pair and I needed to differentiate the 3rd one in some way. This case was a perfect idea!
I use the speakers only outdoors and the added benefit of this case is that it protects the speaker when I lay it on its side on a stone bench. A carabiner is included, but I didn’t attach it as I don’t really need it … easy on/off though. The case doesn’t impede access to any of the Roam’s buttons and it still sounds great in my opinion!
This is a very sturdy silicon case for a Sonos Roam. I wasn’t able to get the case on at first, but the instructions advised that the case may need to be boiled for a minute to make it expand to go on the device. I did in fact boil the case for a minute then felt weird because I had a wet case that I needed to ensure was fully dry but not cold so that I could put it on my speaker. Once I got it on the speaker, I was really impressed! It fits very snugly and covers all the right places. Every port/button/light that I needed access to was accessible. The only downside would be if you use wireless charging. This case probably wouldn’t work with that.
I hope that I never need to take the case off. Otherwise, you will find my speaker in an oven on the lowest temperature possible and me watching it like a hawk because you can definitely see speaker damage outside of the device and be able tell when to stop heating it just from looking at it.

First off, this is not silicone as the product title claims. It is TPU, Thermoplastic Polyurethane. TPU is not soft like silicone but not as hard as Polycarbonate. Think of it as somewhere in between Silicone and Polycarbonate as far as the hardness is concerned. TPU is very durable.
The case fits the Roam like a glove and once your Roam is in the case, the case will never accidentally come off. It has a cutout on the back to let you easily connect the USB-C cable and operate the Roam control button. You are also able to easily access the controls on the top of the Roam when the case is installed.
The company suggests immersing the case in boiling hot water for a few seconds to make the installation easier but as I demonstrate, it is quite easy to install the case without using hot water.
A carabiner clip is included which adds some additional functionality to the case since it lets you easily attach your Roam to a backpack strap or simply hang your Roam on something else.
Recommended for protecting your Roam.
This is a well-designed protection sleeve for a Sonos Roam speaker. The sides are thick and shock-absorbing, and the triangular edges are even thicker for added protection (because you know that’s exactly what’s going to hit the ground first). Speakers and controls are not affected. And molded into the sleeve are stabilizing feet. A convenient carabiner is provided for attaching to just about anything. A Sonos Roam is too expensive not to protect it. This is inexpensive protection for your expensive Roam.
This silicone sleeve fits like a glove. It required a little stretching to get onto the speaker, but after that it fit perfectly. My suggestion is the put the top part in first and then stretch the lip of the bottom over the bottom of the speaker. This sleeve feels nice and should provide some bump and scratch protection. It’s got a solid clip if you want to hang it from something while toting it around. I expect this sleeve to last as long as the speaker.
I had been taking my Roam to the beach and always wanted a way to hook it to my umbrella, but this speaker does not have a feature to do so. So when I saw this protective cover on Amazon, I immediately ordered it. The cover arrived quickly and in good shape. It is made of thick silicone that feels very durable. Putting the cover on took alittle muscle, since I was careful not to accidentally hit any buttons while do so, but it did fit nicely & snugly. The cover comes with a carabineer, which is what I needed. The silicone also allows for a better grip of the speaker itself, so less chance of accidentally dropping it. Now I have a great cover that protects my portable speaker, is stylish and lets my hang the speaker anywhere I want, especially at the beach! Highly recommended!
I love this thing almost as much as my Sonos speaker! I like to keep my speaker in my bathroom for my long baths and showers but I prefer to keep the speaker closer to the shower. Unfortunately the only option would be to put it on top of the toilet seat which grosses me out so I got this case for it so I could hang it on a hook. It works great for what I needed.
To get the speaker in it though was tricky. Luckily it comes with an instruction card that suggested soaking it in boiling water for 1 minute before trying to squeeze your speaker in it. That absolutely helped!
I bought another case for my Sonos Roam which I like but it has a ton of holes in it and it seems to be a bit more flexible and sags a bit. So I saw this and whereas the other has more holes, this one has holes only where you need them to be to let out the sound.
For the installation and packaging, make sure you read the card included with the product as you will need to put it in boiling water for a minute or so to make it flexible and pliable, dry it off and insert your roam so it’s more pliable. This thing is thick and stiff so if you don’t do this I am not sure how you would insert the Roam without strong hands and vaseline!
With that being said, once installed all of the necessary cutouts are there for charging, powering on and letting out the music for your roam. It works great for protection but I did have some issues using it with my wireless charging because I think either my wireless charger is too weak or the plastic/rubber is too thick. However USB-C charging works fine. Would recommend if you’re looking for a very rugged case for your Roam.
The white cover is actually a pale gray and complemented my
Sonos Roam speaker in Lunar Gray (ie not white)
The cover is tough to get on and the instuctions suggested warming in how water which helped a lot.
Easing the Roam into the cover needs a little care to prevent damaging the Roam’s rubber end caps..
One drawback is that the Roam wireless charger does not work with the cover in place – it is a fraction too thick and the charger does not reliable sync. This is disappointing since the cover is too stiff to easily
remove each time to charge wirelessly, so I end up using a USB-C charging wire instead – the cover includes a hole to allow the usb-c cable to be easily plugged in.
Overall recommended for good looking effective protection for a Sonos Roam speake
This cover was easy to install and fits well. Seems sturdy, covers all but the speaker surface, and gives us piece of mind that an accidental fall won’t be a problem. Comes with a caribiner for attaching to a strap or hook. It’s like a $12 insurance policy for a $200 device – a good buy.
I love my Sonos Roam and I have a case for it – but it’s an overall case that zips up, so when outside, I used it without protection from the elements. You want to take care of your Roam. It’s a great speaker and you don’t need unnecessary damage to it that could have been prevented. Well, this is the case you need if you want to feel protected when using it outdoors.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Ok, well the card that comes with it. You are supposed to soak this in 100 Celsius. You know what that is, right? That’s 212 Fahrenheit….. yes, you are supposed to soak it in BOILING WATER for a minute. After that, pat it dry and it will be more malleable to put on your Roam, because if you don’t do this – you will have a heck of a time putting it on because it is snug… and hard. The case is kind of stiff to give your Roam the protection it needs. It’s not a cheap silicone case that is stretchy. It’s stiff. That should give you all the confidence that this will protect your Roam (at least the parts it is covering, which is all the edges and the back. Don’t burn yourself with the boiling water!!
The case itself when on the Roam looks nice. No more worries scratching the underside when placing it horizontal or the rubber ends if you’re standing it upright. The case itself will protect the Roam from all around impact EXCEPT for the speaker grill itself where the SONOS name is. I guess they could have gone two ways here – leave it unfettered so you get the complete sound you paid for, or have a rubberized cover with holes which may degrade the sound since it’s covering the speaker and honestly, I think it might look sort of ugly that way. I am glad they when with the open hole. Every other edge is protected. You have complete access to all the buttons on top, and the power charging port and power button. The bottom (the end opposite the buttons) is protected like the side with buttons – with an opening. Why do you ask? Well, yes, if you put this end on a flat wireless charging pad, it WILL wirelessly charge! I tested it, and yes it worked. Will it work with the Sonos Roam wireless charger? I don’t have that wireless charger so unfortunately I can’t tell you but I suspect that even if it did charge, it would be hard to balance it on the small triangular shape.
The bottom of the case has 4 feet that will keep it stable horizontally and this case includes a carabiner so you can hook this to your backpack and not really worry about damage (for the most part).
I really love this thing. I will use it when I take it outside. Indoors, I will likely keep it off if I’m not using the Roam since I will put it back in the zipper case I have, and it won’t fit in there with this case on.
Taking it off was a slight challenge. I started from the bottom end (non button side), and dislodged if off from that side first. You have to be careful here because the hard case plastic is harder than the rubber ends of your Sonos, so even though the ends of the Sonos are very durable, you still want to try not to mar them with the edge of the case when you are taking it off.
Great outdoors case for a great speaker!
I was expecting this to be the floppy silicon material, but it most definitely is not! It is a fairly rigid (almost too rigid) and feels super durable.
My biggest and only complaint about this, is that it was pretty tough to get on. It didn’t take me very long, but you have to really press on the speaker to get the last end on. I guess that’s good, since it will definitely not be coming off by accident, but I personally think (and with no knowledge of manufacturing or sizing) another 1/4 inch, would have made it more straightforward.
Nevertheless, its not coming off and it is a really nice addition to the speaker! All cutouts etc work and fit good, so no issues there!
I can’t say strongly enough how much I like this case. I spent a lot on a Sonos Roam wireless speaker and didn’t want anything to damage it. I stumbled across this case on Amazon and decided to give it a try and I am glad I did. The description said the case was silicone and that can mean anything from a cheap film-y case to something better. This one turns out to be much better. The case is thick, fits very snugly on my Roam and gives me confidence that it is well protected. Often after-market products from other manufacturers do not deliver on their promises. This one does. The buttons and USB slot are easily accessed and the the color matches the original finish, so it is relatively unobtrusive. Also has a nice detachable hook to connect it to a back pack or belt. I highly recommend this case.
Overall is a good protective case for your Roam speaker. Makes it much less likely to be damaged with on-the-go use from dropping it or having it bump into things. Comes with a carabiner clip to you can hang it from something if you want.
If you charge your Roam with the included USB port on the back, that works fine, and I recommend this case. You don’t have to keep reading 🙂
If you charge your Roam with the optional inductive base charger like I do (came in the set from Costco), the case blocks the bottom where they connect so you can’t use it. Just at a glance, it seems like it would have been possible to design it to still protect well without blocking the inductive plate, so that part is annoying. I might just cut out the plastic that’s in the way.
The protective sleeve works very well. It’s made from a thick rubber material. It fits very snug so it’s a little difficult to attach, but the directions stated you can boil to make it easier to attach. It comes with a clip that can be used to attach the roam to a bag, purse, etc. I was concerned that the sleeve would interfere with the charging base but my roam still charges with it attached although you do have to be sure it’s lined up and making a good connection. I’m happy with this purchase and can’t wait to take it to the beach.
I actually ended up not ordering the Sonos Roam I planned to purchase due to some of the issues with battery life and connectivity and sound quality that I’ve read about online, but at the very least if you do have a Sonos Roam and like it and are looking for a good quality case, this one is very nice.
I don’t have a lot to say outside of that, it adds some larger more grippy little feet on the bottom if you lay the Sonos Roam down, so that’s definitely a nice touch.
Definitely recommended!
I am very happy with this sleeve. It is higher quality than I expected. It fits very snuggly on my speaker and has a smooth but not slick feel to the hand. I Really like the ability to hook it onto things with the carabiner that seems to be a good quality as well. I will definitely be using this cover when I go on vacation. I’m not sure it would protect my speaker if I dropped it, but for-sure it protects it against bangs and scratches.
While I am not able to use my base charger (the sleeve elevates it too much to make the connection-my charger is a flat surface), it does have charging port access on the back. I wouldn’t travel with the base anyway, so it’s not an issue for me.
Overall, I am very pleased with this items and I look forward to taking my protected speaker on all my vacations. I do recommend it.
