Hi one of the best features is the document feeder especially for printing or scanning multi page documents. Easy to set up. Hp smart set up especially useful. For the money really pleased.

I had a very difficult time setting up, as I am not very computer informed. Asked a friend to assist, machine started to push paper through but did not print. Friend went away, came back and still no joy. Following day I had a fiddle and it is now working fine. I have not got a clue what I did, but it works. So my advice is get help before you start.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had a HP Instant Ink printer for 8 years – it was a real work-horse, so it was a no brainer to replace it with one of the latest models. My new HP Deskjet 4120e is more slimline than my previous printer, but just as efficient and reliable. Ignore any concerns about this being difficult to set up – I was up and running in 20 mins. Don’t forget to register your purchase on the HP website or smart app, so you get the extra warranty and 6 months free Instant Ink membership. A very wise choice of purchase for home office use.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a good home use printer as long as you are not going to print 100s of sheets at the same time. Works well and with the new HP ink system makes it good value for the money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFor the kids it’s perfect. Why buy colouring book when. You can print what their interest are at home. Or important documents print out. Scan pr Bluetooth message send straight to printer and printed. The only flaw to this is you can do multiple of 20-30 print in one go. It freezes possible network but I don’t think it is connection related.

Easy set up as long as you give it time to warm up. To put the inks in but was very easy to set up for air printing. Impressed with it all.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was upgrading from my old Deskjet F2280, and assumed that this would also be plug and play, and could be located any where in my home. HP tell me it should be no more than 1m from the main router to work properly.
After 2 hours reading all the on line guides, uninstalling and re-installing a couple of times, and 4 hours on the phone to HP support, I could not get the printer to print from any of my devices, so returned it for replacement (excellent turn around from Amazon).
With a few more hours telephone help from HP, the new printer does print and scan on Windows 10 and ios devices, but struggles to print on my android 10 tablet and does not recognise the scanner at all. I am waiting for HP Tech Support to get back to me with a resolution or work around.
I feel sure that it will work fully soon, but can only give the printer 4 stars.
Hopefully my experience is not typical.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSuch a good price for a home printer and 6 months of ink (considering ink can be 30+ each time!)

Fairly easy to set up with both android phone and ipad air.

Occasionally doesn’t connect but its an easy fix.

The ink plan is a bargain if you use the printer regularly. Perfect for families or small businesses who will use the printer fairly frequently.

The app is super easy to use.

Also great if you need to print things to scale. As a sewist this is incredibly important to me as my patterns need to be printed to scale and not enlarged/shrunk.

And if you use code vghf2c you’ll get some free ink!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this printer replacing my pro jet printer. Bought this at a reduced price. I m happy with this as it deos the job required. There are slight differences as the paper has to fed again to print double sided which my projet did by itself. In terms of the quality in printer i can see much difference.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersWhen buying a printer under 50 you think you’ve got a bargain BUT for me I find a printer I like the look of then before buying check the ink prices and size. That’s where you’re going to really spend your money.
This printers ink cartridges are the smallest I’ve ever seen. It scans and prints fine and the ink price is better than most (but still too expensive in my opinion).

The noise level while printing is average and it takes a good minute after switching on to be ready to print.

Wi-fi set up is ok but you can not use the software (which you have to download to computer or phone) without signing up to one of their plans. I don’t want to have a plan OR have to sign in to print something out. Luckily most phones/computers will have their own basic printing software but still would have like to use HP’s.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA brilliant printer for the price. There are printers that cost more that are not any better than this one. The tech support is great. You can sign up for the HP ink delivery subscription for just a few pounds a month and have the ink delivered to your door before you run out as it’s tracked from their end which is so convenient.
The printer is a synch to set up and connects wirelessly with no problems. The print quality is prefect and it prints fast. Very happy with this purchase.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI read a few negative reviews but for me, it was very east to install and I am no technical guru. Superb printer for everyday home/office use. I would recommend joining the Instant Ink programme as you get 6 month’s free cartridge refills and packages after this 6 months start as low as 2.49 per month. We all know that the biggest cost of running a printer is the ink refills. With this programme, you get 6 month’s free ink and then you pay a monthly fee depending on your printer use. For me the best thing is that the Instant Ink programme is that it is a Smart service in that once you switch printer on and connect to your wife, the printer communicates with the supplier and informs them when your printer needs ink refills. I received my first ink refill today and they are slightly larger than you would expect. They were delivered by RM with no issues whatsoever. Very happy with the product and Ink Smart so far.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersThis purchase replaces a secondhand HP Envy, which had lasted me for many years. This new one seems a bit plasticky compared, so I wasn’t expecting much to be fair. It was fairly easy to set up – I had to link it to my phone and it was soon ready to use. It comes with both black and colour HP cartridges, plus 6 months free ink if you sign up to HPInk. You get a code that will allow others to add an additional free 3 Months on top to give 9 months of free printing. This is mine…please use it to get an extra 3 months for yourself! 8yzd7g – Why not get an extra 50% free, it also gives me an extra month which is also great.
The HP scans, copies, and prints – yes it is a basic model but then most of us only have basic printing needs. I’ve printed quite a lot so far, and it’s all come out properly. So I am fairly chuffed.
The code that you can use for an extra 3 months of free printing: 8yzd7g

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersTook me several attempts to set up the printer to my Wifi.
(in the process I proved the printer was working by connecting directly to it (from iPhone to printer and not via my Wi-Fi/broadband-router).
First I couldn’t see using the HP Smart(!) app on my Chromebook.
Then I did see it and connected it up via my iPhone.
Then it failed to register to HP (after several attempts).
Was about to call HP but then I decided to reset the printer (press a combo of buttons with the front flap open) and ‘hide’ the printer in the HP Smart App as one last attempt.
And at last it connected! (and I signed up to Instant Ink – 6 month trial with an extra 3 months using a code from one of the reviews here – thanks to whoever it was! My code if you want an additional three months free: z3btb8 ). Will see how usage goes. Will likely cancel the inking after my usage slows down/novelty wears off!
Printing seems reasonable. Can’t go wrong (apart from the set up) for 40.

Edit – typos and update: Printing is good enough for my needs (primarily black text). Did print a photo and was okay. I had to re-connect printer a couple of times but now it’s all fine.
And thanks to whomever for using my code!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersPrinter is a versatile and high-quality printer that offers a range of features for home and office use. The print quality is impressive, with vibrant colors and sharp lines that make documents and photos look professional. The all-in-one function is particularly useful, as it allows you to print, scan, and copy from a single device.

While the overall performance of the printer is excellent, setting it up can be a bit of a challenge. The setup process is not particularly intuitive, and users may need to refer to the instruction manual or online resources to get the printer up and running. However, once the printer is set up, it works seamlessly and consistently.

Overall, the HP DeskJet 4120e All-in-One Color Printer is a great choice for anyone in need of a reliable and high-quality printer. While the setup process may be a bit difficult, the performance and features of the printer more than make up for it.

This is a good all-rounder. The quality of printing is excellent, and it prints quickly. The only reason I used 4 stars is that it did not print double-sided automatically – I had to feed manually which was very time consuming for the kind of work I do as a teacher.

Otherwise, it dos what it says on the tin.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis is not the most expensive on the market but it does the job.
The inks are not available as compatibles at a lower price . You may need to buy grossly overpriced HP inks.
Shop around because there are some rip-offs out there.
I found that surprisingly enough that Amazon are the best value.
Installing the printer can be time consuming because this can only be done on the HP website . This involves registering an account and the following a set of instructions . It is advisable to connect using a usb cable so that the printer can be recognised by the computer for the setup to be completed.
You will then be asked to remove the usb cable because it is no longer required because the printer will be connected wirelessly. Its easy to connect to your mobile phone or tablet. just do a search for it and follow the instructions. You will need to enter your Broadband password at some point. if you use a lot of ink HP have a replacement programme at a lower price .
      Good luck.

After years of paying for Canon inks for a ‘dumb’ printer, this wi-fi enabled HP one is better in nearly all respects. The print quality is pretty good (though not the best) and the ink is reasonably priced and lasts pretty well too. Copy and scan features work OK but only up to A4 size.
Possible to print to this from tablet or phone directly, using downloadable app.
Really happy with this for the price.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI recently purchased the HP DeskJet 4120e All in One Colour Printer and I am extremely satisfied with its performance. The setup process was quick and easy, and I appreciate the convenience of having a printer, scanner, and copier all in one device. The print quality is excellent and the speed is impressive, especially considering its affordable price point.

What sets this printer apart is the included 6 months of Instant Ink with HP+. It ensures that one never runs out of ink, as the printer automatically orders more when it’s needed. It’s a game-changer for me, as I no longer worry about constantly monitoring my ink levels or rushing to the store to buy more.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo far I’m quite impressed. For the price it offers everything I need, although marking it down one star as I know the ink is expensive and the warranty is void if alternative ink brands are used. Really easy to set up, fairly compact for a printer, am able to print from my phone with minimal trauma (I’ve had major issues with wifi printing in the past) so this felt like an absolute breeze. Happy so far!

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersSimple all in one printer / scanner / copier. It’s relatively easy to set up, although I found the HP Smart computer app quite slow to the point it seemed like it had stopped working a couple of time, but eventually sorted it’s life out after a few minutes of being patient.
The rear paper feeder makes it take up more space than if the paper tray was at the bottom like some other printers, but it is fine for my needs.
Print quality and scan quality are good for the price. You could get better by paying more for a fancier printer, but I’ve used it to scan some important documents and everything is legible. Worth noting there’s no feed for the scanner so you have to manually add each page, but you can add each one to the same scan so they all end up in one document rather than a separate document per page.
Printing speed is slow-average. I’m used to a big beasty printer at work that chucks out a page every couple of seconds. I printed a 27 page document yesterday on greyscale ‘draft’ quality and it still took about 10 minutes.
In summary, this is a great printer for low use home needs or perhaps occasional business use for basic documents. If you’re doing a lot of printing or scanning, the slow speed is likely to get frustrating and you’d be better investing a little more in one with a scanner feed tray.

I’d consider myself tech savy but the printer did take some effort to install. Originally I tried to use the HP Smart app on my macbook but for some reason it was having trouble connecting to the internet. I instead switched to the mobile app, and had some difficulties to begin with but the reference guide saved the day! I’ve been using this printer for 6 months now and I really have never had an issue with it – and I print a LOT! I find it light, neat and efficient. The print quality is every bit as good as the huge Epson printer that I had before, which cost a fortune in ink. All this and I never have to think about ordering ink – it just appears! Use code p8qz1m for an extra 3 months during January – and an extra month after that. Enjoy!

Initial setup was easy just download the app to phone and follow instructions, you can also download app to PC, tablet etc.
Tip, if you move the printer to a different Wi-Fi network just add as a new printer to enter password.
New free ink! shipped to me in a week automatically which is great.
Print speed and quality great so far but does take a few seconds to start which I think is the printer checking that you are the account holder as it is wireless.

Great printer with good print quality and fast printing. However, during setup I had a lot of trouble connecting the printer to my HP account so that I can take advantage of the HP+ features and redeem the free Instant Ink trial. HP support were really great and took me through everything on the phone. The issue is now fully resolved.

Great printer, but had trouble connecting it to HP+ to sign up for Instant Ink trial

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersPlease use code gszbfg for extra free ink deal. The free ink for 6 months is a great incentive, and I got an additional 3 months by using someone else’s code ( they get an additional 3 months as well!) You can also get an additional 3 months ( and so can I) by using the code gszbfg if you sign up to an ink plan. The printer itself is stylish and quite light. It took me a while to connect it to wi fi, and it was only by looking at YouTube vids demonstrating set up that I eventually succeeded. Connecting to my desktop was a doddle, just a matter of connecting the printer using the existing usb lead from my old printer ( no lead supplied in the box). I can now print direct in my home office, or from anywhere around the house using my smartphone. Print quality is fine for documents and charts, and ok for photos if you use good quality paper or photo paper. I reckon it is worth the price, and the ink supply is the icing on the cake. Go for it!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersTook a while to set up but if you follow prompts, it is relatively straightforward.
Only downside is that every device that wants to print to it has to download the HP Smart app.
Free ink is a bonus and if you use code gkvk9v at sign up you will get an extra 3-months free ink.

Golden Review Award: 56 From Our UsersI have an aging HP Deskjet 1050 3 in 1 which, although it still works it is tethered to one laptop. For Christmas, and my forthcoming birthday I decided to treat myself to a new printer. Although white, this one looked similar to what I have, and so I thought, even though it connected via WiFi, it would, in theory be as easy to use. You all know what thought did, don’t you.
It came in a sturdy cardboard carton. By the way, it was not encased in any other box so anyone can see what it was on it’s journey, something whilst not wanting wasteful packaging, I personally am not keen on. Inside it was securely packaged too. The printer was well wedged between thich cardboard packing buffers, and was sealed in cellophane wrap. Once this was removed, and all the other smaller fiddly bits of card and tape that stopped things moving about I could actually start setting up the printer.
The first task was to download the HP Smart App. Then, with the simple instruction I set to work getting the printer connected to my network. I am slow and methodical about this sort of thing, so, it did take me about 15 minutes. But, it was relatively simple. Lots of things to agree to on the way. I guess this is important because of GDPR in Europe but still a pain in the bum. I then discovered I had to install this HP Smart App, on my Tablet, and my laptop if I wanted them to use the printer. The phone and tablet also needed the HP Printer Service installed as well. I think it was about an hour before I actually printed a test page, and then a couple of documents from my laptop.
Because of the sensible, and necessary security protocols employed, printing is never going to be instant. For a simple, single sheet document it too about 10 seconds for the printer to come to life. For a colour print, more like 20 to 25. I will be honest, my eyesight is not good enough to objectively comment on quality, but, at first glance, the printouts I got were clear and readable and there were no gaps or smudges.
Overall, I am happy. It is not too noisy, and sits nicely in the same footprint as my old 1050, so not re arranging the stuff on the desk to accommodate it. A good buy in my book.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI had two KODAK printers which served me well for many years. I had many HP printers when I was working mainly from home and they served me well too. On this occassion I needed my printer to print something for my mother’s funeral. Murphy’s law took hold and the KODAK went Phut!! So I quickly scanned Amazon and saw this printer. Ordered and delivered toute suite, great. !! Set it up on what I consider my relatively new MacBook Pro, only to be told software issue. Not what I was wanting to hear! Any way, after several calls I spoke with a chap in the Philippines. He assisted me by using my iPad and so we are up and running. Am I 100% happy ? NO, that’s why it gets 4 * . The Scanning option is good, but not great, using Text option for text does not produce quality reproductions . Photo graphs ok for transferring to MAC/I-Pad 4/5. Using HP Photo paper dores produce a good quality print. If I was not in a rush,, may be I would spend more on a better spec. on the whole happy for my use. Plus the INK offer is a good one.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI bought this printer from Amazon to replace my previous printer, a DeskJet 4658, which just died. It was five years old. I’ve always been impressed with HP printers and had been using the HP Instant Ink service for several years, so I wanted a compatible printer.
The printer was insistent that I should install it using the HP Smart app, but that didn’t play nicely. After several stuck attempts at that, I tried the embedded web server but that again told me to use the App. Grrr.
Finally I managed to get the printer to appear on my HP account, but there was no way I could get it to enrol into my Instant Ink account!
After messing about for several hours, I gave up and rang HP Support. After a very patient 45 minutes with the nice chap on the phone, it was finally sorted. Even the HP man didn’t understand what was going on.
Now it is working I’m very, very pleased with it, and would recommend the printer as long as you’re patient enough to get it working.
If you’re new to The Instant Ink service, be sure to use the codes FREEINK and my code h7tGH for two free months printing when you join. I find Instank Ink much cheaper and easier than buying my own cartridges.

SIX MONTHS ON – After six months of near daily use, I still stand by the review, although I’d perhaps up the stars to four from three, given the printer’s faultless service. I’ve had two automatic deliveries of ink from HP as my existing cartridges were getting low. I love the fact that with Instant Ink it doesn’t matter what you print – a page can be a single full stop, or it can be a full A4 colour print. When I was buying cartridges myself, I was always wary of printing lots of colour on a page. With the Instant Ink system those worries have gone. So, buy this printer. If you struggle setting it up (you will) ring HP. They will sort it. Once you’re set up, you’ll be able to print wirelessly from your computer and smartphone.

18 MONTH UPDATE: Again, still very pleased with this printer. Pretty much daily use for a few pages, and it has never been a problem. I tend to do most of my printing from my iPhone and iPad, and I love how easy and reliable that is.

Golden Review Award: 60 From Our UsersThere are three parts to my experience of this product, and though I’m only meant to be writing about the printer itself, it would be impossible to isolate HP+ and the software required to use it.

      PRINTER
The printer itself is incredibly easy to use, with unfussy paper and document feeds and a no-fuss glass plate scanner which works quietly and quickly. My last printer was a very fussy Pixma and, in comparison, this piece of kit is significantly easier to use, load and maintain.

The print quality is good enough for us to have printed out photos onto normal paper for framing, and the printer will print large documents efficiently and quickly. It’s very quiet when it’s at work so you don’t have to worry about the background hum interrupting phonecalls and the like.

It’s nice to have a very straightforward, simple way to load paper and to be able to scan bundles of documents at once. Similarly, the ink cartridges are easy to orient and load, though the first stout “CLICK” was a little unnerving!

      SOFTWARE AND SET-UP
To set it up, you need to log it onto your wireless network and then find it in your network on your device, which can seem a bit fussy if you’ve never had to do it before, but does mean you only need to do it once and then it’s sorted.

I can understand why some people might find the setting up process a bit of a pain, especially as it relies so heavily on Bluetooth AND wi-fi. The only thing I can say is to get a cuppa and work through it slowly, starting with turning on Bluetooth on your phone while downloading the HP app and taking it from there.

Setting it up on a static PC is actually a little more difficult and requires you to download software from 123.hp.com and then it can be a bit mystifying to get the printer visible on your machine, particularly if it’s already part of your network.

      HP+
Truly the biggest hang up I have about printers is the cost of ink replacement and good quality paper. I don’t print often and, on my last printer, found the sudden cost-hit of cartridges to be really expensive. Plus they couldn’t be reused or recycled and it all just felt incredibly wasteful.

It’s good to see that HP have given this thought and developed a monthly subscription model that factors in the cost of your ink. But it’s actually far more than that – your ink gets delivered to you automatically, you send back the old cartridges for refill and reuse and they even allow you to roll over unused pages to the next month of your plan.

On top of that, I’ve got about 9 free months of ink = allowing up to 700 pages a month to be printed (colour and black and white) – which is an incredibly good deal for what will end up being 4 for the whole year.

      CONCLUSION
Getting 2 desktops, 2 phones and a laptop to be able to connect to the printer was a bit annoying and, particularly the laptop, very frustrating. However, once done, the app allows you to print from literally anywhere (a friend of ours who is also my son’s English tutor printed a Christmas greeting from the other side of the country!), and allows you to easily track how much ink is left, how many pages you’ve printed, whether a new ink delivery is on the way and so on.

The printer itself is quiet, efficient and easy to use, and has been surprisingly enjoyable to use once everything was sorted, and signing up to HP+ is the cherry on top as I don’t feel I’ll be hit with 40 cartridge costs out of the blue anymore, while knowing that sustainable wood and cartridge recycling is all part of the service.

      Really happy.

I received my printer quickly after ordering and it arrived well packaged. In the box there is instructions for setting up, some ink cartridges and also a leaflet for setting up HP instant ink. I set up the printer via my phone, which is great that you can do this if you don’t have a computer! Although it wasn’t as straight forward as I’d hoped. Downloading the app was easy, it took a while for the printer to connect to the internet and be recognised on the app. I did have to download a second app before I could print anything. It definitely took a bit longer to set up due to the technical difficulties but once up and running you are good to go! The first thing I printed out was some of the free colouring sheets on the HP app so my little boy was delighted! The actual printing process is quick but a little noisier than I expected. The actual print out is clear and no issues with alignment or anything. I am still using the cartridges that came with the printer so that is a bonus, I did sign up to the instant ink subscription service, which was really easy to do so I already have more ink waiting for when I do need to replace the cartridge, so I have peace of mind mind I don’t need to shell out for ink as its all been paid in small amounts monthly and I only pay for what I need! If you signed up you also got 6 months free ink which is a really good deal! I would recommend this printer to friends and family as once set up it is really easy to use. I can print documents via my phone downstairs and collect from my printer when needed. The actual printer is bigger than my previous printer but you can also copy & scan with this printer so that is expected. The paper inlet & outlet trays fold up to keep it compact.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great printer once set up!
