This bottle has stood the test of time with my 4 year old. It’s been dropped numerous times and it’s never leaked or cracked. Such good quality, very cool design too.
Nice lightweight bottle. Seems to be leakproof so far.we have had similar in the past and the plastic seal came off so fingers crossed the same thing doesn’t happen to this one.
Nice bright design. Good size at 400ml, large enough to keep a good amount of drink for my kids for a significant period and not so large it becomes cumbersome.
Lock easy to use, opening and locking the bottle. Quite expensive at 13.58 but overall a good bottle.
This is a lovely bottle but sadly too small for what we needed. Nevertheless it would be great for a younger child just starting out with a drinks bottle as would be a perfect size.

Water bottles seem to come in two basic types — all plastic, and stainless steel. This one is targeted especially at kids and is a smaller size made especially for little hands with a leak proof re-sealable cap to make sure contents don’t spill. Most bottles are between 500ml — 1 litre. This Ion8 Leak Proof Kids Water Bottle offered for review under the Amazon Vine programme contains just 400ml. Measuring 67mm diameter (about the diameter of a standard 330ml drinks can) and 171mm tall, it is ideal for a youngster in single figure ages. It features an attractive design based upon tails of Africa which are slightly raised above the orange background, which I thought was striking. Some time was taken trying to identify what tail belonged to what animal, so that was a good learning point. It is dishwasher safe when time comes to give it a clean, although if you are hand washing you will probably need a washing-up brush or push a washing-up sponge around with a knife to do a thorough job.
The top unscrews like most do revealing the stainless steel interior, which should enable a drink to be kept hot as well as cold for a while. The top will nip up firmly thanks to an inbuilt diamond pattern which is designed to aid purchase if opening or closing, and which is fitted with a good seal that means if the bottle isn’t upright in a bag it won’t leak, all features I liked a lot. There’s a flip top cap opened by pressing a button downwards, giving access to a 12mm wide drinking hole. Once the drink has been taken it closes positively with a noticeable click, which is a good hygiene feature given how mucky kids can get things. There’s also an inbuilt carrying ring, which means it could be carried this way of attached to (say) a rucksack, another thoughtful feature.
Opening the bottle there is no overt smell at all, although there’s a silica gel bag which should be removed before giving to a child which is clearly doing the job of keeping things smell neutral. Examining the cardboard label everything here is recyclable, though given the product is stainless steel it is well capable of a very long life. When it does finally bite the dust though the material choices mean it should recycle at the kerbside, which as a committed recycler is a big thumbs up from me.
This drinks bottle was enthusiastically received by my grandson who liked the bright, cheerful pattern. It’s just the thing to take to school to keep him hydrated through the day with his favourite squash, and comes up bright every time. The use of a solid stainless steel body is preferable because squeezing an all-plastic bottle has, in the past, led to rather more drink coming out at once than he was ready for, with the relatively small opening a transition between the Tommee Tippee style toddler bottles and a full on opening that could result in spills. At 13.04 it is not as cheap as many all-plastic bottles, but boy, is it destined for a long life — ideal as it can be passed down to younger siblings.
This drinks bottle is great nice size lovely design, and has a lock so doesn’t spill great for any child.
A bright and colourful bottle that has some good features.
The carrying loop is really handy and can be used to clip this to your bag using a small carabiner.
The lid can be locked in place, ensuring it doesn’t accidentally flip open when placed in a backpack.
It’s very durable because of the stainless steel body, so you don’t need to worry about it getting bashed about by kids.
I would have like it to be a bit bigger as 400ml doesn’t last long, so needs refilling regularly.

A sturdy and colourful water bottle perfect size for lunchboxes.
My lad used it for a week before review and there were no issues or leaks and it didnt get battered as some less sturdy bottles seem to get.
Not suitable for warm drinks or carbonated drinks.
Love the design and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

This 400ml Ion8 is the perfect size as a school juice bottle for my son, fits well into his packed lunch bag, can take a knock being made of stainless steel and the best thing of all… it doesn’t leak so no more soggy sandwiches!
Internally it is easy to clean with a great wide neck allowing you to get at it with a sponge/brush.

We love Ion8 bottles in our household. They are sturdy, have awesome colors to choose from and are easy to clean.
This stainless steel bottle is lightweight and keeps the water warm. However, since thsi bottle is not insulated you are not supposed to put hot water in it as it will be very hot to the touch and won’t even keep it hot like a thermos does.
Overall it’s a great little bottle for kids. I’m sure it will hold up any drops pretty well.
This bottle is brilliant, I’ve spent a small fortune on drinks bottles over the years for my kids and this is the only one I’ve found that will withstand the rigours of little boys and not leak or break! The design is fun too! Highly recommended
I don’t really understand why this bottle is made of stainless steel and is primarily aimed at children. This bottle is not insulated and wont keep any drinks hot or cold for any significant period – which to be fair the sellers actually state in their description. I’m unsure why other reviews state that it does. It’s a single walled bottle. It couldn’t possible achieve this.
if you put hot water out of the kettle into this bottle then you’ll need gloves to pick the bottle up as the metal will just suck in the heat and be too warm. Similarly, if you freeze a drink in here then the bottle will be freezing and you’ll need gloves to use it. So why not just buy a plastic bottle? This is a water bottle nothing more. It holds about 400ml.
The design is nice and colourful, the bottle it leakproof and it has a breather hole to ensure the smooth flow of liquid when you drink. It’s exactly as described in the information provided by ion8 – and it feels good quality.
It will not keep hot things hot and cold things cold. 100% guaranteed!

My son loves this water bottle. It fits in his backpack side pocket. Most of my other water bottles were too big. This was upsetting for him, so I got this smaller one.
Really cool design of animal tails on a dark orange background, makes this bottle stand out from others.
Easy to open and does not leak. The little lock makes it extra safe, and even when the bottle is lying on its side, it still does not leak.
Extra points for the little hoop on the strap to make it easier to carry around, or when attaching it to a bag.
Easy to wash. I am washing it by hand. I know that it is dishwasher safe, but because it is my son’s favourite bottle, I do not want to risk damaging the design.
We have been longterm users of Ion8. They are addictive! Why? You ask, because they are practically indestructible. Our daughter has been usu g them since reception at school, it’s the only bottle that has lasted more than a term. Infact, her very first Ion8 is still perfectly usable.
Yes. We paid through the roof for that first bottle. We bit the bullet becasue we grew increasingly tired of throwing money away with cheaper bottles that failed in the end. From leaking gaskets, to broken hinges to mouldy inners from sealed suction drinkers.
This one is simple, easy to use, a breeze to clean and can tolerate being thrown around the sideline whilst our now older daughter takes a sip and haphazardly discards the bottle only to retrieve it later.
The drinks stay suitably cool during her school day. Not as cold as a flask as the lid is plastic and also not insulated. Drinks can also be kept suitable warm, butbthis would be risky for milk products if kept below 60C due to the temperature danger zone, especially as, say, a flask of hot cocoa cools to this temperature.
All in all a school bottle well worth the initial outlay.

We really like the Ion8 water bottles, they offer insulated thermos bottles, along with BPA free plastic and like this one stainless steel single wall bottles. It is sturdy and has a nice textured print of tails running around the outside. The hinging top is spring loaded, so you only have to click the button and it springs open by itself.
No leaks here! with the main top having a really good seal, along with the drinking hole and air hole both having good silicon seals which keep liquid in. We have had a similar bottle from them for about a year and it is still going strong, and they have been the go to water bottles for our 4 year old as they just work and don’t have a straw which he has always chewed to bits in the past.
Very happy to recommend as a Childs water bottle just as long as you are aware that this is a single wall bottle and not a vacuum thermos bottle, although ion8 do offer these in other listings, this one being single wall means that you get more room for liquid on the inside and our boy does like to guzzle his juice!

This is another grand little bottle from Ion. It is single layer stainless steel, which means this one is not insulated but keeps your water in no plastic. Well, the lid is plastic, but it is a cute shape and the new lock is easier to open than their previous ones, but I am not sure whether it might not witness some sudden-opening-accidents.

This sure is an excellent water bottle for kids although don’t think it’s a vacuum flask as it isn’t, it has been mentioned on here that it is indeed a ‘vacuum flask’ which would have all the benefits of such insulation, however, it’s just a basic stainless steel bottle with NO insulation. Having said that, the quality of this bottle is very good in terms of construction and functionality, my son uses this now for school, it’s a good size at 400ml, looks awesome and most importantly of all it’s completely leak proof, unless you don’t close the lid securely then the leak proof feature is out of the window. and that has happened to my son on a few occasions, not with this bottle I may add.

My son also likes the raised ‘tail’ prints on the bottle, these are ever so colourful and smooth which are set against a fine textured orange background. The main lid has a textured surround which makes opening the lid much easier, inside the lid is placed a silicon ring which seals the water inside, silicon is also placed in the lid which covers the spout when the lid is closed and keeps the water from leaking.
Opening the lid is simply done by pressing the latch however there isn’t a secondary safety lever to prevent accidental opening so I would ensure this isn’t just placed in the bag and rather stored outside in a bottle holder which most school bags have. A click is heard when closing the lid and this will tell you it’s sealed correctly.
Overall, a quality water bottle and I would be willing to pay 12.91, it’s worth it.

Took this out with the kids yesterday and it’s brilliant! I popped it in the freezer for 10 mins and the drink stayed cool for the duration of us being out, 400ml is plenty for kids and a good size. The detail on this bottle is gorgeous! Tails of numerous animals which my son loves, they are embossed aswell which adds to the character!The fact it’s actually leak proof is great, lots claim to be but aren’t which can be frustrating. The lock feature is also great and easy to work. These bottles are free flow and don’t have a straw which I think is great for big gulps from thirsty kids! All round great bottle!
A very attractive little bottle. The design is very vivid and bright, interesting to try and get the kids to work out who the tails belong too.
This one has a steel body and plastic top but others in the series are plastic bodies so check this out if it’s important to you. That said it is still light weight and comfortable to hold.
The lid has a release button which makes it flip open. There isn’t a safety catch but I don’t think it needs it. There is a loop to allow it to be tied to something if you wanted to carry it like that.
An air hole in the lid let’s the contents flow nicely.
Seems completely leak proof and perfect size for small bags or lunch boxes.

Also a negative point for me was a little opening near the drinking part that means when you drink in certain positions the water will come out eventually!

A shortage of cups, glasses or other receptacles is common place in our house, they often get taken upstairs on an evening too which can be problematic with spills. This ‘no-leak’ bottle is large enough to put a drink in for bedtime or to take out on a packed lunch without risk.
Nice design, nothing overly complex and no spout or straw to chew and then need to be thrown away.
Kids are happy, I’m happy. No issues… The metal will also hopefully be a little more durable with my lot than a plastic one.
This ion8 bottle has a funky tails design and feels well made. I like that it isn’t a huge bottle. It holds 400ml of liquid- either hot or cold and it will keep the temperature for several hours. We haven’t had any leaks with it and it has a push button open as well as a lock clip. It is handwash only. I would recommend this bottle and the investment would be much better in this than some of the cheaper bottles that only last a few months.
Having tried and tested countless bottles for our toddler grandson we have finally found one that is actually leakproof. The bottle can hold 400ml of liquid. We ordered the orange one with dinosaur tails on it which our grandson loves. Operation is easy and opens by simply clicking the button to release and is easily shut over and locks in place , our 4 year old grandson operates this on his own with no issues and needing no help. Placed in his bag when we were out and about and when opened the bag it was upside down and hadn’t leaked also haven’t had any leaks after 2 days use and it’s had its fair share of rolling around and upside down. Highly recommend and we will definitely be ordering if ever needed again.
Lovely bottle my son really likes it. It’s leak proof and suitable for dishwasher. Well made too. Opens just with one click it is a bit too small but this this makes it perfect for children. Easy to hold too as there is a carrying loop. Very easy to use and the orange colour makes it unique.
My son loves this bottle, it keeps his drinks for school nice and cold! It’s a better size for smaller kids as I feel the 500ml bottles can be too heavy! The design is of lots of different animal tails which he found funny.
The lid is a little difficult to uncatch for especially small kids so this is goodnto bare in mind.
It has a handy ring to carry the bottle too!

Nice water bottle best bit is that it locks, so stops all spillages and leaks in school bag! A must for all school bags!
I am a fan of this brand (Ion8) as I have had other plastic water bottles from them, and they are always well-designed and do not leak. This vacuum insulated steel water bottle is no exception.
It is deep orange in colour with a cute design of animal tails circling the bottle. The plastic screw top lid has their usual locking mechanism (new design), which is simple to use, and the one-touch button to open the top (when the lock is not in use). There is a standard drinking spout inside, and a carrying loop on the outside of the lid which can be carried by a finger or put on a carabiner etc. The vacuum insulated steel interior keeps drinks hot or cold for hours. This is a small bottle or flask with a capacity of 400ml, but this would be adequate for most children and means that the bottle or flask is a small size so easy and relatively light to carry even when full.
It is fairly easy to clean as the lid screws off and the design mean there are not too many small nooks and crannies to get into. Please note: this cannot be put in a dishwasher but needs to be hand washed.
This is currently retailing at 12.91 (at the time of this Amazon Vine review) which is quite pricey for a small water bottle or flask normally, *but* this is a vacuum stainless steel one with all the benefits this provides in keeping drinks hot or cold so perhaps not an unreasonable price. I am pleased with this product, and I am happy to recommend.
