Really good product. Only downside is there isn’t a button to immediately turn the light fully off, you have to hold 1 down which scrolls through the colours until it goes fully off.
I love this clock for dark winter mornings, the colours feel very graded and natural.
This thing is great, the fact that it has a wind down function and a gradual wind up when you set the wake up time is great. I turned off the noise alarm as it’s to violent in my opinion so I combo it with my phone gradual wake up alarm. It is worth the money, I just wish they had more options for the alarm noises and also had gradual noise instead of sharp violent ones.
This alarm really helps me get up. The light feature makes waking up calm, and easy. I find myself wide awake easily from the light feature. It’s peaceful and calm, great product, only downside is its very expensive for an alarm clock. But really good cNt picture not using it now
Great clock, purchased for the darker months, lovely light. Only draw back for me personally is I still need an alarm to wake up and the beeping (only option) is pretty horrible even on the lowest so I’m still having to use my phone to wake me. Probably a little expensive for what it is.
I’ve found this sunrise clock really helps with waking up more naturally. I set it to be at the brightest setting 10 minutes before my alarm and wake up from the light alone, then I have 10 minutes before my alarm on my phone goes off and I need to get up. Feels much nicer than the panic of an alarm going off. Only downside is I do feel the price is very steep for an alarm clock and I would have liked more sound options for the audio alarm and a small remote
Has honestly changed my life, I went from struggling to sleep for an hour or so to falling asleep within 10 minutes. Love the sunrise setting too, makes waking up in the morning that little bit easier, wish I’d paid the extra money and got the more expensive model that has bird song as the alarm sound. Apart from that it’s amazing!
Bought this because I find it very difficult to wake up in the dark, and I love it made mornings slightly easier!
I am very pleased with this Lumie sunrise alarm, the only thing is that it seems the beeping cannot be turned off…but it is so nice being woken up by the “sunshine”.
So glad I purchased it! Heard on BBC about Lumia, a British company, and then saw it on Amazon! Helped me a lot with getting up and it’s beautiful! Bought it on Black Friday on discount.
I bought this Bodyclock as an upgrade from a much older model. It was fairly easy to set up. I like the fact the clock display goes off when I’m trying to sleep but switches on if it detects movement. The clock display is clear, the gradual waking up light mode is useful, although I’ve slept through it! I find the bedtime fading light does seem to make me feel a bit sleepy. Overall I’m happy with my new Bodyclock – only negatives are the wake up light & alarm must be set every night, and the base moves about on wooden nightstand when I’m trying to set it. I bought item at reduced price, I wouldn’t have paid full price for it.
I bought this for my fiance as she loves waking up to sun light in the summer and struggles in the winter to get up early.
I bought this as bit of a gamble as I wasn’t sure if it was a gimmick. It isn’t.
This is great for it’s sunset mode and it’s morning wake up mode.
If you’re thinking about buying one, I’d go for it.
Bought it a few months ago and have used it a lot since, I did think it was a gimmick at first, but you do wake up before the alarm from the light and feel more energetic. Would recommend this one as it is medically certified whereas the cheaper one is not.
I had purchased another light before for 30 off Amazon.
It was one of those cylinder yokes with a really shiny finish.
I just didn’t think I wanted to pay 80 for an alarm but in hindsight I should’ve gone for Lumie right away.
The light looks much nicer in the room. I like the matte look of the light cover. The light is much nicer than the cheaper product I used before and it actually changes brightness much smoother.
It’s easy to set up and I like that the time turns of automatically at night (if you chose that setting).
Personally, I don’t use the Alarm tone but I could see how people may be looking for alternative sounds such as forest sounds, birds etc. The cheaper light I had before had that option, this Lumie does not as far as I can tell.
Either way, the light makes waking up a much nicer experience. I tend to set an alarm a few minutes after Lumie reaches peak brightness just to make sure I get up. In 90% of the cases I’m up already.
I really enjoy it. It’s quite pricey but I think you certainly see the quality difference over a cheap light.
I was skeptical before buying as to whether this would work, i’m still not sure the night time settings do much for me but the daylight/waking up settings definitely have made a noticeable improvement for me particularly on the days i have to get up at 3am in the winter to get ready for work.
Initial impression was that this was much smaller than expected. It fits perfectly on the bedside table with room to spare! It is very bright and easy to use. I highly recommend. I do however, not find the sunset mode that useful as there isn’t a timer option like the sunrise setting. EDIT: There is also a 30 min dimmer timer on the sunset mode just as there is for the sunset mode.
I found this clock easy to use.
I have recently bought this but has really helped me in the mornings, I used to wake up every morning thinking I don’t want to get up, since using the body clock I don’t feel like this and my mood is definitely better.
This clock has massively improved my morning moods, ease in waking up, and ability to keep to a schedule.
By having the alarm start with early morning sunrise from half an hour before the alarm noise, I’ve noticed I gradually wake up and no longer have that awful start awake, which means I’m in a much better mood and feel a lot more rested than when I’m jolted awake by my normal phone alarm.
Massively underrated feature is the ‘sundown’ mode, by having the light go from regular ‘room’ light to sunset really helps calm me as well as get me ready to sleep, also sets a clear routine for the thirty minutes before i sleep.
Would advise for anyone fedup of waking up harshly in the morning, and wanting to get more ‘natural’ light into their day.
Me and my family have always loved the beautiful glow of traditional Salt Lamps but due to the recent soaring cost of electricity we decided to look for a more cost effective product that delivers that same beautiful glow – we then discovered the Lumie Bodyclock Spark 100. This is a fantastic product, the glow is easily controlled using the buttons on the front and can go from the brightest light to the most delicious glow with a few presses of the buttons, you have to see it for yourself to appreciate it. This is a must have during these dark winter months, I can honestly say I feel much better for using it and I’ve not even had the light for a week yet lol the instruction manual is easy to read with clear instructions and the clock is easy to use, it has all the features I need, the sunset mode is lovely to wind down to and I find during the alarm mode I don’t need to use the sound as the light is enough to gently wake me up. The bodyclock doesn’t feel cheaply made to me, its not that heavy so you just need to take a bit of care whilst pressing the buttons when its on a bedside table, don’t be heavy handed then you won’t push it off the table lol I’m so glad I purchased this and my parents are also looking to get one as well. I honestly have no negative points about this product. Highly recommended, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase another one, thank you Lumie! 😀 (This product uses LEDs which are energy efficient, the older models apparently used halogen bulbs).
Quality of light is fantastic. I think this is what you’re paying for with Lumie vs cheaper brands. The higher brightness is good as a lamp for the whole room. The lower brightness setting with reddish hue is good as a reading light. Alarm is easy to set, although you have to switch it on every night it’s only a few clicks of the same button. Good value at 63.99 Black Friday offer.
Love the sunset feature and works well as a light for the room, the sunrise definitely helps in the morning but it is a bit annoying that you have to remember to set the alarm every day
I do like the clock. It wakes me up gently or more accurately it gently disturbs me so I am ready for the alarm. I DO NOT use the alarm on this clock. It’s offensive to my ears. Strangely it is complicated to operate. Appears to have a mind of it’s own.
Sadly, 4 mornings ago it suddenly stopped working. Light comes on, sometimes, gets to a soft glow, then turns itself off. Completely. Clock and all.
Hence I’m trying to work out how to return it. I do miss my gentle glow in a morning.
I would try another if I can get it replaced. But at that price I won’t be buying another one.
Update.
Lumie replaced the faulty clock eithout question. I am once again being woken up gently. I am so glad.
I had one of the original lumie lights and this one is far superior. It doesn’t get hot like my old one (probably as this is LED as opposed to a bulb) and the disk function really does work if you are patient enough to let the light dim over a period of time. Very much worth purchasing if you hate waking up to normal alarm clocks!!!
This alarm clock has been well designed & sits nicely on my bedside cabinet. The sunrise & sunset functions work well, although the “sunrise” is less effective in the summer months when outside is already light. The alarm sound needs to be set at the highest setting (5) if you’re a deep sleeper like me. At first, I found setting the functions awkward, but after watching a set up video on You Tube, it became easy. Once you have woken up & tapped the clock to stop the alarm, remember to ensure that the alarm is off or it will ring again after some minutes.
Overall, this alarm clock works well & I would recommend it.
Great product. Easy to use. Starts with a dim red glow and gradually turns into a light nearly as bright as the sun
I was really struggling to get up before I bought this, using a normal alarm clock.
Since buying this I am managing to get up for work at 3:15am without any issues.
Also has an alarm function as well just incase you manage to sleep through the light.
I am very happy with this purchase and I would recommend this product.
The brightness and colour are excellent and look very natural. The device is simple to use, but a lot of the functions are manual when they should be automatic e.g. you have to set the alarm every night and you have to press a button to start the sunset. Which is pretty mediocre considering how expensive the device is. That said about the electronics, the display is very nice. The light-sensitive brightness is great, although I do wish I could adjust it.
All in all, the value for money is okay. It’s slightly overpriced for what it is, but if you are struggling to get regular sleep, then it’s worth the money.
Love this clock. More features than my old one. Only thing I find a bit annoying is it sometimes slips on my bedside table when using one hand/finger to push buttons. Just not as sturdy as old one but much improved overall.
Helps me get up in the morning, but keeps me up at night.
The actual clockface is farrr to bright and white even on the lowest setting and when I am having trouble sleeping I can see the ambient light through my eyelids. So if you have to sleep in complete darkness this is not for you.
That said, IT WORKS. I am not a morning person yet I can get up early with this (I have been using it for about 6 months every weekday).
I bought this as my husband hates getting up in the dark to go to work. He is pleased with it but it took a while to sort out the sunset setting the sunrise setting was fine. He is very pleased with it.
Bought to replace an 8yr old one which was originally purchased from the manufacturers refurb store but eventually died. Bought this originally as a sunrise clock, but over the years my favourite function has become the sunset function – no more bright to black at bedtime. The clock works just as expected the light stays on a decent time after reaching full brightness on the sunrise function. The only thing i don’t like about this model is the touch to snooze function which is very sensitive…. If I put something on the bedside table it sits on (or tap the surface of the table) it will snooze straight away, which means bright to barely on until it rises again 10mins later. Even if you don’t want to use the sunrise alarm its perfect as a dimmable bedside light and clock. I don’t use the sounds (have a phone for that) so can’t comment on them.
I bought this lamp for a more relaxing way to wake up on winter mornings. Previously I have always used a heart stopping metal alarm clock which frightens me out of bed instantly when it starts to make noise and I started every day with stress.
Then this lamp came into my life. It wakes you up so gradually, softly and without you even noticing it – very gently you realise you’re awake and ready to start the day without beginning your day with a heart attack. I use the light only as an alarm, but the lamp does allow you to include a beep sound as well – you choose the volume.
It has made such a big difference, I am so much more relaxed now. I didn’t realise that the loud metal alarm bell had been stressing me all these years. I really love this clock and use it every day.
The sundown simulator is also good and I use it every evening. It’s a lovely gentle way to drift off to sleep within minutes. The time on the display goes dark once you’re asleep. If you do happen to wake up, a simple touch of the lamp will turn the timer display on again for a few seconds. This is super functionality, especially if a tiny light in your room is enough to keep you awake all night! This stays dark all night.
I would recommend this lamp.
This item is quite expensive for what it is, but the missus reports she has really enjoyed using it, and feels it has made a positive difference to her morning routine.
No point buying one if you’re a shift worker, in my opinion. I think this only works well with conditioning a set routine that doesn’t change (i.e you’re a 9-5’er)
I’m not a morning person and although this isn’t ‘life changing’ as others have claimed. it definitely has made it easier to get out of bed in the morning. The sunset function is also very nice. The only thing I would say is that I wish it had more alarm sound options.
Ive sort of wanted a sunrise alarm clock for years but only bit the bullet and ordered this one last week. What a hell of a difference it makes.
No more struggling to get out of bed in the morning or falling asleep again. This thing really does make mornings easier. I even have it on at the weekends for a 7am sunrise and it helps me with waking up then.
I also have it on as a nightlight and use the sunset feature when I’m ready for sleeping.
Light ranges from barely visible to eye-searingly bright.
My one negative point would be that the “tap to snooze” is over sensitive and so when I put something on my bedside table, the light sometimes goes off. Far from a deal breaker though.
I’ve used this for about a week now.
Some of the similar products had reviews saying that setting it up was a pain, this was super easy, and I’m not a technology fan.
Set the alarm, choose if you want an alarm noise or not, I didn’t which was another reason for choosing this one.
The light starts to come on 30 minutes before the time set.
Each day I’ve either been woken fully by the light, or at least aware of it so half awake when my phone alarm goes off.
It’s a far more pleasant way to wake up, especially at this time of year when our circadian rhythm is not in tune with societies start time.
I’d say it was a little bit overpriced for what it is, but I’d buy it again.
Doesn’t really do the trick for waking me up, but I’m a very heavy sleeper. It’s still nice to wake up to a ‘sunlit’ room during the dark winter mornings. Very bright light the same as other SAD therapy lamps. I enjoy the sunset feature and the clock display which responds to light levels in the room – you can choose to have the clock completely off but the display is dim enough that I actually find it quite nice/useful to have the clock on at night. I would probably go for the model with different colour settings if I needed to replace this one in future, but it’s a good beside lamp if you’re looking for something simple.
I’ve never woken up refreshed. I sleep deeply and alarms must just shock me into the land of the living. I finally took the plunge and bought this after about 5yrs of “meaning to get one”.
Annoying things for me first:
You have to press the alarm button every day to make sure it’s on. It doesn’t have a 7day preset.
It doesn’t have sounds or a radio. It has an alarm beep that comes on after the sunrise but that’s it.
For the price it is I would expect it to have some sounds and a 7day alarm at least.
If these things don’t bother you then price aside GET THIS.
I have only used it two nights and Yes, I don’t wake up as soon as the light goes high but it’s dead on half an hour after.
My energy has increased to the point I don’t deliberate for an hour before begrudgingly doing anything.
The sunset is nice too and gives you half an hour to chill before bed.
Personally, for me, I’m going to be buying the top range higher spec DAB version. I need sounds to help me wake up.
I bought this in the sale so it was about 20 cheaper. It’s a great entry level to see if it helps you.
If you are looking for a decent sunrise alarm clock then you can’t really go wrong with this. The build quality is really nice (it’s made of plastic but feels quality) and I was surprised at just how pleasant the warmth and colour range of the lamp is – I have been keeping it on during the day time too as if adds a really nice ambience to the room. The entire unit is very aesthetically pleasing (a definite selling point compared to cheaper products I have seen) and I was worried about the yellow ring based on the picture but this is actually quite muted.
The sunrise and sunset features work well and are not too complicated to use once you have read the instructions and played around with it a bit. I was worried that having to set the alarm every night would be a problem, but if you are not changing the alarm time then you simply have to press one button and the display indicates the alarm will come on. This model only comes with one alarm sound and it is not the best to be honest, but I don’t think that warrants buying the more expensive models unless you specifically want the DAB radio too. My only criticism would be that the buttons do not light up which makes it difficult to see them in the dark.
I scoffed, a little, when my partner said this thing was meant to help me relax before going to sleep and that it would help wake me up and feel more energetic in the morning…but I’m not laughing now!
As well as being a handy alarm, clock and bed light, this thing can gradually turn the light of its inner bulb down over a period of half an hour, which does help you feel sleepy and eventually nod off. Not only that, half an hour before you’re set alarm time in the morning, it does the opposite and gradually brightens the room and helps you wake. Whether or not it’s some type of placebo effect…I don’t know, and frankly don’t care, as its made me feel much better in the mornings that’s for sure!
Whether it works for everyone is another matter, but the basic science behind it of emulating sunrise and sundown makes sense to me!
Only problem I can see is that now, I tend to set my alarm later, as only a slightly bright light is enough to make me stir. Button pressing CAN be a little noisy if you want to adjust something without waking your partner or children too, but these are only minor things that might not effect anyone in the right scenario.
After using a cheap similar product for almost 2 years and now upgrading to this one, all I want to say is why did I not invest in this earlier. I can clearly see why it’s more expensive and it’s totally worth it. Compared with the cheaper alternative I had, this one is significantly brighter in the highest setting, has a much more pleasant and sophisticated light hue and intensity to the eyes in real life that cannot be reflected in photo’s, and looks much more pleasant on the bedside table. The light that mimics the dawn really gets me sleepy and calm and makes me fall asleep in no time—I wasn’t even using the sunset function; just set the light to a low intensity that’s slightly reddish/orangish which gives such a pleasant and soothing feeling. In the morning as it goes all the way to the brightest intensity (I set it to the highest, you can set it to any level you want) that is much brighter than the cheaper alternative, I feel uplifted and ready to start the day. This is the best model for me as I need a silent alarm light, so the ones with fancy sounds and radio function actually put me off. Beep sound is still optional on this model which I never use.
Now, two design flaws: 1. it’s not obvious where to press if I want to turn it on in the dark, as I cannot see the buttons. But this can be overcome by getting familiar with the button positions like muscle memory when playing the piano. 2. When setting alarm clock in the eve for the next morning, you have to go through all the procedures: set time; set maximum light intensity; set sound(or no sound) of the beep. This means when I’m ready to go to sleep, I’ll be exposed to the highest intensity light for about half a second when going through the setting procedure. This really isn’t necessary and should have been designed better, as the last thing I need at late night is high intensity light.
Overall happy. Definitely get this one instead of the cheap ones no matter how good the reviews are.
Does it do the job? Yep!
My body clock is all over the place in winter. Usually a choice between sleeping in or dragging myself out of my pit zombified, with a blaring alarm. The Lumie has sorted me out. I now wake in the morning in the same way I do in summer!
It is a nice, gentle, wake up which leaves me feeling fit for the day ahead. It’s not a miracle worker, I still have to go to sleep at a reasonable hour, and stay asleep, to feel refreshed of a morning but it is a really good method of waking up. I’ve had it for a little over a month and even when I have forgotten to set it at night, I have still woken at the usual time. This suggests that it is genuinely adjusting my body clock.
Made of plastic but not flimsy, looks quite nice. LED light doesn’t use loads of electric and should last for years.
The buttons are a bit of a shame. Flush with the facia so not easy to find in the dark.
There aren’t any extra features, even those you may expect with a digital alarm clock. it does what it says and not one jot more.
I am disappointed that it does not have a battery back up to keep the clock on when unplugged but it is quick and easy to reset the clock and it does retain the alarm settings, although I still have to click through to confirm them each night.
Being able to set the digital clock display to turn itself off is an excellent feature. They have designed the display to come back on with the slightest touch. That can be a problem because the slightest vibration brings it back on.
Really pleased with the purchase. I highly recommend these daylight alarms to everyone. Price is steep but it was worth it to me to go with a trusted brand where I could be confident the light was tuned to the correct frequency. There are many cheaper versions with more features out there and in hindsight, I may have tried one of those before paying 75.
