This is a very good value starter pin pointer, this is NOT a metal detector, this is used for when you are detecting and need to accurately locate the item you have found, works well for. that and seems to be quite effective.
Slight concern that it isn’t water proof so could break fairly quickly in the English weather.
Tested it on various items around the house, located small pins, larger items like some coins.
Like the fact this one has a small flashlight built in so you can bring some light into deeper holes
the beeping gets more frantic and the pin pointer vibrates rapidly when it is on a metal object.
It’s great value for a starter, but if you get more into metal detecting you might want to get a more pricy one.
Really fun to use for children or adults that want to start off with a metal detector but don’t want to spend too much. It’s easy to set up and works really well.

This detector kit comes with a lanyard, holder with Velcro strap for wearing on a belt and a 9v battery. The battery included with my set was totally flat and at first I thought the detector was broken, luckily I had a spare battery and this worked fine. It does not state which way the battery is inserted but I found that the metal parts need to be face down with the larger of the two connectors in the larger of the two holes (see photo).
This little metal detector is very short range having tested out on a few items. It can detect items to the side as well as from the point which is useful if you drop a metal item in a long pile rug or similar. Not sure its powerful enough for treasure hunting but ok for locating metal objects at fairly close range.
This could prove a very useful gadget for dressmakers trying to locate pins which always seem to escape and end up being stood on! It did appear to locate wiring near switches on the wall which is also very useful.
This is extremely easy to use and so long as you’re not too far away from a metal object it’s pretty accurate. It beeps quite loudly to indicate metal.
It’s very lightweight and come with a small pouch and lanyard.
If starting out metal detecting its a good cheap pointer. It’s not waterproof though. After a few weeks and if your liking metal detecting then buy a better quality one.
Brought this for my sons 8th birthday and it ended up being his favourite present! In the first day he learnt where all the electrical cables are in the walls and found many pennies in the garden. He takes it everywhere with him and loves to find things when out on walks with the dog. Great price for so much fun. Great gift idea for kids and a great stocking filler!
