For the price it feels disappointingly plasticky – its bulky (but not too heavy) but feels cheap.
Apart from that it works well and was easy to plug into a TV on holiday with the included cable, and the corresponding picture was good. The sound was a bit off – we had to keep the sound on, on the DVD player, bit close the lid in order to get a decent level of sound from the tv.
Used as a prize in our school science fair – this is the star item that everyone wanted to win & they were not dissapointed – the family were excited to get this and some DVD’s to watch on it. As families are not going out as much and cutting back of ppv services this has been great. IT has worked well, will no faults and is intuative to use. Obviously the kids can use it better than the adults.
I have ordered this DVD so I could use it nostru in the car ,especially when travelling long journeys ,is hard to keep kids still and not complaining.
With this DVD Incan play their favourite Disney shows withouth worring about internet or battery.
It takes SD card as well as Usb along with all the different formats cds so literally there isn’t something this DVD won’t play.
I love the fact that it comes with a remote so it is easy for me to change ,pause /play turn off and on.
USBs play very well and so do the DVDs. The sound is amazing for a small machine and the picture quality is better than on my desktop PC. It is fairly heavy but it is free carry case is, therefore, most useful.
Very useful charging methods ,either main powered ,car socket and even internal battery ,you can make use of this DVD anywhere.
The battery indicator is not visible as it is underneath and you have to tip the machine up to see it, Overall, this is the best portable DVD player I have owned – I have had three before – and I would definitely recommend it if you want a larger screen and good quality build and excellent sound and picture.
Highly recommended!
This item arrived nicely packaged in a cardboard box. I got this for my nephew and nieces, so that adults can watch their shows on the TV. The dvd player has been great – it’s small but an ipad screen is small too, the quality is decent and the best thing about it that you can watch items on SDs/USBs too so don’t have to purchase a lot of DVDs. With it being small, they can use it in the car or take it on holidays with them too. It’s a little expensive but great item
Whilst I think its wrong to have a disposable item, This is truly disposable based on the price.
With kids, I cant trust them with a laptop, it will either get broken or lost. this is something that I don’t have to precious about.
We’ve used this when traveling on holiday with it being the kids device. Its their responsibility to look after and share.
Its rather easy to use, We load it with SD’s full of avi files and they can swap between the cards and usb sticks.
Image quality is alright. Its nothing amazing, but it is designed for standard definition.
Comes with a remote control so you can control it from afar but just remember its only a 12 inch screen so you wont be getting that far away from it without squinting.
It manages about 4 hours before running out of battery, I do with it was a little longer but suppose there’s no space for that.
As I said, its nothing amazing but gets the job done.
So far, I am happy to own it. The built quality is good. It is nicely designed and looks premium. Lightweight and easy to carry around. Great for having it in car when traveling on long journeys. The battery life is impressive and lasts quite long.
Not just DVDs but it also accepts SD card or USB stick so provide more options for playing video content. The display resolution is perfect for watching movies on it. Can be controlled via remote which is responsive. The screen can also be sync with the TV at home.
Arrived well-packaged as shown in the attached photos.
The price is slightly expensive in my opinion.
Overall, a useful and portable DVD player and will recommend.
Works well . Good picture and sound . Great for kids on a long journey
This versatile DVD player by MYDASH turned out to be a lot better than I expected and it is getting a lot of use currently. Although I still buy a few Blu-ray or 4K discs occasionally I mainly use streaming services for watching films these day — as I’m sure most other viewers do. DVDs are really something from the past these days but I still have quite a library of old discs and this handy player has given me an easy way to watch then again without any hassle. Although this is not something I would use in the car — others might find it useful though — it is a device that can make DVD viewing at home easy again now that many laptops don’t include an optical drive any more. As well as DVDs this player can handle various types of other discs and formats, and it can also read USB and SD memory cards. Although you can buy a basic DVD player for just a few pounds these days this portable device offers a lot of extra features that make it worthy of consideration — even at the current price of around a hundred pounds from Amazon. I like it a lot — it is a real gadget for gadget-lovers — perhaps just a whisker overpriced but I will still give it five stars for the features it offers.
I used to own a portable DVD player years ago (15-20) when owning one was a cool thing to do and not many people did.
Nowadays with streaming, DVDs aren’t used anymore. But I still have hundreds of films on DVD and a lot of them on aren’t any streaming platforms, so DVD is the only I can watch them.
To have something like this, where not only can I still watch the films, but I can watch them on the go is brilliant. It’s also region free which is a great bonus as older players were never region free. So I can watch some of the American DVDs I have with this as well.
The screen is a good size at 10.1″ and it shows the films in HD quality, so it upscales my standard definition films. It’s a large enough screen to do the films justice, but not too big where the convenience of having the player be light and portable is gone and you’ve got something big and clunky to carry around instead.
The quality of the build is very good and the buttons are very easy to use. The remote is good too, not to mention very responsive.
Battery life is very good and there’s always the option of plugging it into the mains or the cigarette lighter if using it in the car. Talking of the car, it comes with a headrest mount, so you can watch films in the back.
My favourite aspect is the swivel function. Now I can swivel the screen rather than have to move the whole unit if I want to move angles or show someone something that’s just happened in the film.
I am very impressed with just how far the quality of DVD players has improved compared to the ones I used to use.
This is a really good dvd player, you get just over 2 films worth of battery life or you can plug in and watch from the mains or car cigarette lighter.
The picture quality is superb and the sound is good as well.
A very good value and well put together portable dvd playe
The unit comes well packaged in large bubbles. Charging the device was easy with the supplied AC Mains adapter, there is also a car adapter supplied which I have not had recourse to use yet.
There is a cardboard insert inside the DVD section that you should remove prior to first use. When the unit is turned on it shows an information screen about how to clean the lens, and don’t touch the internals.
Upon putting a DVD in, the device tries to play it. There is a bit of noise from the spinning disk, but it is on par with other devices we have had in the past.
I first of tried a DVD in the player that has been badly scratched and repaired. This DVD will play on good DVD players, but really struggles with some. This player played about the first quarter of the DVD without issues, but then it started stuttering. At about 3/4 of the way through it gave up and skipped to the end credits. So this player did better than a poor DVD (which usually just stops at 25%), but couldn’t successfully complete the play.
Putting in a new DVD it played through OK. Turning off the power did activate the last memory function (note, this needs to be enabled in the settings), play resumed at the start of the chapter.
In addition to the usual buttons found on the main body, there are volume, and next/previous buttons to be found on the bottom of the screen.
The advert claims a 5 hour playback, the player got through the broken DVD, plus twice through Frozen II, which isn’t bad. It comes up with a text warning on the screen when the battery is low. It has a red light on the front edge of the DVD whilst charging that extinguishes when it has finished. There is a similar blue light when it is reading from the DVD.
There is a bit of colour bleed that can be seen on the screen, I don’t think that the kids will notice. Also when pressing the volume up and down buttons on the front screen there is distortion visible in several placed of the screen which probably shows where the screen is mounted.
The viewing angle of the DVD player is quite tight, this might not be a problem with kids. It might get a bit annoying depending on the type of video.
We tend not to get use out of remote controls for the players, but to test it I put the DVD on the floor and pointed the remote at the ceiling (it takes two AAA batteries not supplied), and it controlled the DVD player without issue (if we were going to use it, it would probably be in the car from the front to a player pointing the wrong way in the rear).
The player comes with a headrest pocket. To use it twist the screen 180 degrees and lay it flat against the base. This does mean that changing the disk isn’t possible, so it might be more trouble than it is worth depending on just how many times you wish to watch the same video. I found that the straps on the headrest pocket were only just large enough to fit a ford focus. This isn’t exactly a very large headrest.
This portable DVD player is really cool idea , easy to setup , you can use remote to control it.
You can use it anywhere but perfect would be for long journeys as has a big comfy screen and doesn’t hurt kids eye.
Price when I reviewed it was 100 it is expensive and nor worth that much in.my option. ( it had a 50% voucher off that would definitely be great value and would buy again as a gift )
Only kidding. The DVD is definitely the technology of the past, but as a family with small children they still have a place. We watch a few on the TV, but now we can use them in the car. This is great as the smaller kids cannot get their heads round why they cannot stream in a car with no wifi. With a full battery, you get 5+ hours of DVD playing that will keep them busy.
It comes at a hefty price, but you get a good piece of kit for the money. The screen is integrated into the device and can be watched on a lap or turned round to be tablet style. They even have a car holder so that you can slot it into the back of a front seat and all the kids can watch. It comes with a simple remote and the buttons also work on the device. It was a case of adding a DVD and hey presto.
It is made of formed plastic and is strong enough. I am worried about the twisting neck element and won’t let the children wrench that about. I feel it will be the first thing to go. I tried to shake it a little and play it vertical and the DVD still worked, so it should be ideal for the car journeys we are planning.
Lightweight, excellent visual image, excellent audio and good size. This device has a large screen size that allows comfort for the viewer. If you want to have something with quality to entertain children or even other ages, this is an excellent option.
This is a great CD/DVD player, the sound is ace and it comes with a remote control, and headrest case to install it in the car, an absolute gem for long journeys. It’s rechargeable and also works on 12v and 240v with the supplied cables. It also has a cable to allow it to connect to the tv indoors, we have a collection of DVDs sadly relegated to a storage box as our tv doesn’t have a DVD player but now we can watch them using this player connected to the TV, we are so pleased with this function. It will also be great for camping too. So this is a multi purpose item, it’s going to make long journeys so much better and we can now watch our DVDs!
I have been pleasantly surprised with the battery life on this portable DVD player and it lasts for quite some time. Recharging also doesn’t take that long too.
This doesn’t just play DVDs either, as it can support multiple platforms and media types such as rewritable discs, CDs etc and is region free so no issues playing content purchased from anywhere in the world.
This player can also accept SD cards or a USB stick (upto 32Gb) giving even more flexibility in playing video content.
It features an headphone socket which in my opinion is advisable to use for children in cars as the highest volume on this isn’t particularly great and the audio would probably be drowned out by the usual car noises whilst driving.
An audio out cable however would allow you to hook this up to your car stereo (provided your stereo system has an auxiliary audio in jack plug) so you can use the in car speakers.
This can also be hooked up to your home TV with appropriate RCA plugs built in (provided your TV has RCA input) or projector or other monitor etc.
Cables are all included.
There is a few ways of powering this player with not just the rechargeable battery but can also be plugged in at home with the supplied adapter (which also charges the battery back up) or the in car (cigar lighter) plug and cable.
Picture quality is ok and about typical for these portable DVD players with a screen that swivels all the way round, can be tilted and folded back on itself to hide the disc player part making it more compact. This unit can also be held on the back of the cars headrest with a headrest holder also provided in the box.
And a huge plus for this player is the remote controller making it easy for a child to play, stop, rewind etc without having to unclip seat belts or their child car booster seat belts and reaching towards the headrest holder.
The full selling price of this at just under 100 at time of review is a little on the expensive side in my opinion, but at the moment there is a whopping 50% off the price making this a superb, good value purchase.
Its fantastically compact and easy to take with you anywhere. Travelling in the car, camping, holidaying, take it on the plane etc etc.
At this reduced price at the moment you’d be mad not to buy it lol.
If you still have DVD’s then this is a must have! The features on this portable player are great and the bonus of being able to connect it to other devices is fab! The visual quality is great and the screen size is very comfortable to watch on. Couldn’t be more happy!
Amazing picture quality, very lightweight and all round winner..
Can not recommend this enough. Came well packaged in a lovely box, with all extras including a headrest holder for car travel.
Its simply one of the best portablw dvd players i have seen.
Would highly recommend
