I recently tried out the Nebula Capsule 3 Laser projector, and it delivers impressive picture quality, making it a standout for movie nights. Its portability is another strong point; it’s compact and lightweight, perfect for on-the-go use. The user interface is intuitive and straightforward, ensuring even those less tech-savvy can navigate it with ease. However, the limited functionality of its operating system might restrict advanced users, with only a few browsers available (e.g., Yandex), but not Chrome or Firefox. Additionally, the hardware performance is not its strongest aspect, as some movies froze and the projector occasionally hung when watching in the browser. Overall, it’s a great choice for those prioritizing quality and portability.

I’ve purchased the Nebula knowing that they have a solution for Netflix. However, it’s not convenient. I still don’t understand why I company have its right to install (paying rights) Netflix for their one device and not do it for another. I bought it from UK and brought it to my Country. No chance to return the device. You are either a big company, have standards or not!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIn a fully dark room, picture at 100inches is quality. I usually watch at around 60% brightness in this setup. If your rooms quite light, move the device closer to the wall to reduce screen size and crank it up to 100% and it’s just as good. Daylight it’s not possible to watch. But I imagine that’s the case for most projectors unless you are spending thousands.
It’s short throw, at 3m away from the wall I can get 120 inches. I would highly recommend using with a quality camera tripod. I have a cheap screen but prefer to use the walls. There is a setting to change the wall colour if you have a pale yellow wall it will adjust the colours accordingly.
Sound is phenomenal in a small room, I imagined having to buy a Bluetooth speaker but this really isn’t necessary.
The fan is super quiet. At 100% brightness the fan runs louder than at 50% and the less the brightness is the less power the unit consumes. At night I set the unit to power off in 90 minutes when I’m tired and fall to sleep watching, the volume set really low and the brightness on 10% and I can’t hear the fan.
Battery life I’ve done a few tests. At 100% brightness on a 120″ screen watching sports I get 40 mins. At 50% brightness on the same screen size I get 105 mins. At 10% brightness I got just shy of 3 hours. I have an anker power bank, if you plug it in when the nebula is at 100% battery it will use the power bank until it empty’s it and then use its own battery, however if you run the nebula battery down to 10% and try to charge off the power bank whilst watching – it doesn’t work at all and the nebula just drains and turns off. So if you have a power bank and want to extend watch time on battery, do this with a fully charged nebula and drain the power bank and then the nebula, not the other way around – just a little quirk that I discovered.
Is it a TV replacement, probably not. For me it is, because I only really watch tv in the evenings, so I close the black out blind and the nebula preforms brilliantly. Also use it at night in my camper van. It uses very little power from my on board batteries.
In conclusion, Is it worth the money I think so, I have no regrets buying it. It’s feels quility, the sound is quality, the picture is quality and it uses very little power, less than a 16″ MacBook. It’s portable. The only accessory you need to buy with it is a tripod- and maybe a screen if you have patterned walls.

Initially this projector definitely impressed me with its image qualities and clear sound quality. Setup is easy although I had to download a legacy app to allow me to transfer videos to the internal storage drive. It should be a lot easier than it is. I purchased this for use primarily in my campervan as moving it around from lounge to bedroom and even pop top roof is much easier than a traditional TV. Now the bad news.. I’m not sure if I noticed this before but once I have auto sized the screen to fit my screen there seems to be light bleed outside of the viewing area. I’m guessing this maybe because the distance of projection is to short. This bleed is very distracting and as I purchased for in the campervan this could be a deal breaker. A shame as the nebula impressed in other areas.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but beware of viewing distance

Initially i was unsure whether the 300 ANSI lumens would be bright enough, but it was really quite bright even with evening ambient lighting..

Overall this is a really great product..
    1. Remote has sleek design, feels responsive.
    2. Picture quality is SHARP and focused.. compared to the LCD projector i tried that was half this price.
    3. Setup experience is very smooth and assisted with your phone of a computer.
    4. Connected seamlessly to my bluetooth stereo for sound output.
    5. Great auto focus and both vertical and horizontal correction
    6. It’s PORTABLE.. I can take it to my friends for movie nights..

    Downside:
    1. The Netflix app is a customised Nebula app it seems. It has to be controlled using the mouse function. It’s not as easy to use as on the Amazon Firestick for example. However it still works great with no audio lag and great picture.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI recently purchased the NEBULA Anker Capsule 3 Laser 1080p Mini Projector, and I must say, I’m thoroughly impressed. This compact projector truly blew me away with its exceptional features and performance.

First and foremost, the size of this projector is remarkable. It’s incredibly compact, making it easy to carry around and set up anywhere you desire. The portability is a huge plus for those who love movie nights, gaming sessions, or even professional presentations on the go.

The image quality is outstanding, especially considering its small form factor. The 1080p resolution delivers sharp and vibrant visuals, and I was genuinely surprised by the clarity and brightness this little device can produce. The autofocus feature is a dream, as it ensures that your content always looks its best without any manual adjustments.

What truly sets the Capsule 3 apart is the built-in Android TV 11 operating system. It provides a seamless and user-friendly interface with access to a wide range of streaming apps, allowing you to enjoy your favourite content without the need for additional devices. The inclusion of features like Apple Screen Mirror is a real treat, making it easy to share content from various devices hassle-free.

But that’s not all; the audio quality on this mini projector is equally impressive. The sound is clear and surprisingly robust for its size, creating an immersive viewing experience without the need for external speakers.

In summary, the NEBULA Anker Capsule 3 Laser 1080p Mini Projector is a fantastic piece of tech that offers a combination of portability, exceptional image quality, user-friendly software, and great sound. It’s a versatile device that caters to entertainment and professional needs alike. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch mini projector. This product has certainly exceeded my expectations.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI wanted the NEBULA Anker Capsule 3 Laser 1080p Mini Projector, Smart 1080p Portable Projector for watching films in my campervan. Space is of a premium so I didn’t want a TV screen plus I’d seen other people project into the popup roof. Other configurations required dedicated screens and boards to sit the projector on – these also take up space so I wanted a minimalist approach but without compromising the quality and having a decent screen size. I paired the projector up with this mount https://www.amazon.co.uk/UTEBIT-C-clamp-Compatible-Photography-Monopod/dp/B077R2KHFX which is great and clips onto the popup bed. I have put a dot on the bed underside to remove the guess work each time I setup. For the screen when outside or in my drive away awning I use https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vango-Vista-Cinema-Screen-Misc/dp/B09RTT1QWD but for in the van the best solution thus far has been a A1 sheet of Foam board from Hobbycraft. I use my reading lights to hold the board in place – very simple and the board stores nicely under the mattress of the roof bed. I didn’t want the projector hanging down in the middle obscuring the view so I mounted as shown in the pictures to the right. This angle the projector struggles to auto Keystone correct so I manually fix which is fairly quick and simple to do. Press the auto fix and it will display an button to do it manually after it tries and fails. You only need to do this once per setup but I think it is worth it to avoid the projector obscuring my viewing. One last thing, the projector is expensive but the quality is amazing – It would have been a five star if Netflix didn’t require Nebula play to load it. Hopefully an update will resolve this in the future. Netflix actually works well when loaded and it is the only app that can download films etc for offline viewing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great potential - amazing picture quality for a projector!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI also have the Capsule 2 and the laser Cosmos 4k. Though not as bright. The image quality, bar resolution, is not far behind the Cosmos.
It’s nice to have H+V keystone, which is a big improvement on the older Capsule 2. Sadly it has one huge flaw, the OS. It’s so buggy and slow compared to the Capsule 2, which isn’t exactly great it’s self. Most of the time it’s so slow you can press a button and put the remote down for 10 seconds before anything happens. Even turning the volume up can take 10 seconds to respond. Apps crash, and even the projector it’s self a few times.

I would like to think the bugs will be ironed out, but it’s been 9 months since launch…

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersPicture quality was great with her plus play back, very smooth.
Only issue I had was the device overheating as I was using a firestick with it.
Maybe if you use the operating system already on it, then that is not an issue that comes up. I returned my device.
I would say the quality was great, the remote was more premium then some other similarly priced projectors(I’ve had some experience with projectors in this price range).
Couldn’t tell you much about the battery life, didn’t have it long enough. But the fact tmyou can buy an external 65w battery pack to keep it charged up is awesome…you can double or triple the 2 / 2 and a half hour battery in the projector whilst still retaining its portability.
I would recommend if you are looking for good picture quality and portability. I would have a few concerns if you were using it as a TV, and had it on 3 or 4 hours a day regularly(overheating the battery).

I bought this for work and home use. Picture quality and noise level is excellent. However, the software isn’t great, and when you connect the laptop, everything slows down. Also, the battery isnt great.

Workaround is using google home and mirror; however for an 800 projector, should I be doing that.

When few things is sorted this would become the greatest laser projector on planet earth.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt took me a long time to decide on this projector. Reading countless reviews and video reviews.
It was 80 off so I took the plunge, this is my first ever projector and it blew me away.

A review somewhere on here mentions an Apple like quality and that is the case (having used Apple since 2009).

The entire unit is a pleasingly smooth metallic enclosure, it’s really solid and adds a very premium weight, more than I expected!
There is a perforated band around the top rear of the unit and of the bottom rear of the unit for ventilation, it’s hardly visible.
If you’re in a silent room you will notice a (very) slight hum but nothing to complain about, the instant you play anything you’ll never hear it again!

Mine was placed about 3-4 feet away from my headboard but the sound was spectacularly clear and I’m very picky with my audio and visual quality.
You really do hear every whisper and slight noise with perfect clarity. Bass was cracking for movies. In a slightly larger living room setting you’ll notice the audio can’t quite manage though unfortunately, a Bluetooth addition of some kind is advised.

Visual quality, in my bedroom the projector screen was just over 2 metres from viewing, this is far too close and again as some review mentions you can see all the pixels and it’s not pleasant. But have an acceptable viewing range and the image is gorgeous! The maximum output is 4K with HDR10, when streaming from Disney+ with all those additions Marvel films absolutely pop and I was stunned.

Unfortunately I couldn’t shell out for it due to personal circumstances and it was returned but when those circumstances change I will definitely be back for this or future iterations!

If you have the right setup of space and audio equipment, highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWhile Nebula was easy to setup and use, I was totally unhappy with Netflix app.

The requirement was to install Netflix through Nebula Manager. But that proved very difficult.

I would install the application and had to use my mobile to select anything. But worse still I had to reinstall Netflix through Nebula everytime I wanted to use it.

Apart from that Nebula was easy to setup and use.

The quality is evidently not 4k, but is a good HD, good saturation and very good brightness, which was one of my biggest concerns. No need of complete darkness for good image contrast.

I didn’t think I would use so much the benefits of its portability, now at night we go to bed and are able to see one or two episodes of any series with the 2h battery.

A week with it and have replaced the need of a TV in our home.

The mobile app is good but need improvement. Volume controls through it are broken.

    Surpassed my expectations

    1) Picture quality and brighness are so good that I can watch football even in my kitchen with lights on. Yes, the darker the room the better the image but still, even with the lights on it’s pretty good. Also, my kids absolutely love to watch their stuff on a big screen.
    2) Yes, for the installation of Netflix you have to use a workaround and ues, for the navigating the app you have to use your phone and it’s a bit cumbersome. But, it’s not a big issue for me.
    3) In other review someone complained that you can’t use the device whioe charging. It’s not correct and YOU CAN USE I WHILE CHARGING.
    4) The device is so small and compact that after a week of using I sold one of my TV-s and attached Nebula on a tripod. Now I can use it wherever I want.
    5) Battery lasts ca 2-2,5 hours depending on the brightness level you set up.
    6) If you’re looking for an Airplay connection then this can be done with the help of the Airscreen app.
So, all in all – I’m really pleased with the device and I’m using it basically every day.

    Awesome device with amazing performance

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhat can i say but after owning an original Anker Nebula v1 for a couple of years , the Nebula 3 Laser blows it out of the water . With its higher resolution and much brighter output , I can safely say I made a great purchase . I have displayed approx a 100″ image on a blank wall at home in a room with ambient light and was still amazed at the picture . If you’re looking for a great portable projector for taking away on holiday or a camping trip you won’t get much better than this . So highly recommended !!

    Update !!

Yeah , there are one or 2 wee niggles with the Laser 3 , Battery nowhere near the 2 hours 30 minutes as advertised but if you have a wall socket or a fast enough power brick handy , then thats not an issue . Netflix is a bit of a pain but not a deal breaker and one or 2 other apps don’t work ie BBC iPlayer , but again no biggie . Otherwise still delighted with the Nebula 3 Laser .

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDie Capsule 3 soll bei mir die Capsule Max ersetzen, die ich seit ihrer Verfgbarkeit besitze. Hauptargument fr den Kauf der Capsule 3 waren:

    – Full HD
    – Laser

Hier muss man sich also immer entscheiden, was man gerade bentigt – Aufladen oder USB-Stick.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI had the first Anker Nebula and it was pretty good, but this Nebula 3 Laser is on another level. The screen is super bright and even though I have only had it to a 70 inch screen size which was brilliant, it can go to a massive 120 inches. The speaker is better than the first one, but I have not had it loud enough to see what the bass is like. I use my Bose anyway that gives great bass and sound.
One thing that is an issue is there is no Netflix app yet and the ITV Hub app doesn’t seem to work.
Hopefully that will be coming soon.

I know it’s more expensive than many projectors, but for this quantity and with discount Nebula are offering, it’s a great projector to buy.

    Upadate.

Original Nebula I had all the apps and could mirror from my iPhone without any problems.
With the Nebula and Android TV 11, I can’t mirror many TV apps from my phone. Apparently it’s something to do with copyright. I find this strange as I just want to stream what I’m watching on my iPhone. Also there is no dedicated Netflix app and as mentioned, I can’t stream from the Netflix app on my mobile. Doing a search I found out you need to download Nebula Manager. When you open it you see you can download Netflix. You then sign in and watch movies. The strange thing is Netflix does not show up in the main apps area. You have to open Nebula Manager and download Netflix every time you want to watch it. One consolation is it remembers you Netflix password.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was excited to finally check out the 3rd generation of the Capsule devices. I like almost everything about it: picture quality, sharpness, resolution (finally 1080p), connections, imagine correction, auto focus, excellent sound quality and android 11.

My favorite is the image correction (keystone), which used to be a drawback on the Capsule 2. Now the 4-corner-setup returned, as it used to be so flexible in the first Capsule generation.

Biggest flaw is the limited software handling. First attempts to install and run Netflix failed. Still uses the Nebula manager as workaround to download the Netflix application and then installs it as a channel. At least I wish. Channel doesn’t show up, Netflix is able to run only with very inconvenient workarounds, as it’s only categorized as system app and doesn’t show up with the regular apps. Downloading random files from websites via browsers is also very annoying, as well as the input, which still doesn’t include a mouse option on the standard remote. To fully control different apps, a mixture between arrow control buttons and mouse from nebula connect app is required. All possible but not intuitive.

All in all a total must-have for Anker Capsule fans (as probably many of us are used to the workarounds and tricky handling anyways), with a little bit of patience and tinkering it’s still a very powerful device with great potential and connectivity, and now plays in the next league when it comes to brightness and resolution.

4 out of 5 stars in my opinion. Happy. (although the price is somewhat juicy…)

    Update:
    – Netflix works now thanks to release of “Nebula Play” app, which downloads and installs Netflix, then lets you set it as tile in “Play next”. An acceptable workaround at least.
    – To everyone who experiences laggy HDMI input: This can be resolved by choosing the option in the projector settings–>Picture–>Game (this has to be done while having an active HDMI input running) Unfortunately this setting doesn’t support individual keystone correction but it makes video gameplay possible.

Awesome design, great picture quality, poor software handling

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersFirstly, my review is from the perspective of a first time projector purchase and one of a nit-picky likes-her-tech to work, be straight-forward and no fuss. Spoiler alert I love this device, thank you Anker!

The manual said charge to full first and pleased to say that was just ten minutes. Setup went through some basic positioning and then on to setting up Android TV. What an amazingly simple process, all driven from your Google App on your phone. A few nexts, oks and your WiFi and Google account are all setup. What a treat! Love it!

All that was with the living room lights on and the screen was perfectly clear for that. Obviously challenged by the bright ambient light but I was surprised still how good it was.

Quickly added Amazon Prime Video and picked Avatar. Lights out and…. oh wow! 300 ISO lumens and it’s this good? I’m so so happy it’s turned out so wonderfully sharp and bright and colours are so vivid. Further context, I usually watch on an OLED TV so I’m quite judgemental. No complaints here!

Having read so many projector reviews whilst waiting for today I can say that no rainbow effect (wasn’t sure what to expect to be fair) and detail at 1080P is just so sharp. Watching the credits roll up the screen and the text is pin sharp. The auto adjustments are such a boon, none of that zoom and twiddle the keystone. All done for you, fabulous!

Audio is great too. I have a number of Bluetooth speakers from Bose, Marshall and was wondering if they would be needed but absolutely not. The bluetooth speaker feature of this device will mean only need to pack this for trips. Room for another pair of shoes!

Here’s the icing. I’m without my projector screen tonight so this was setup and projected on a wall. And it was that good already! On my proper screen it’s going to be more amazing.

If, like me, you were wondering if 300 lumens would be disappointing or the sound would be lacking, or the fan would be noisy or any other of the categories projectors are measured against then fear not. Android TV is brilliant too if you’ve not experienced that. I’m so glad it runs this OS.

I’m going to bed this eve very very pleased with this purchase. It was pricey but I wanted a laser projector and it’s exceeded my expectations. I’m sure it will yours too (unless you’re money bags and can tolerate a huge noisy lump in the living room). So compact! too Thank you Anker for a great product x (ps will you please make a nice case for it soon!)

Quick update after a few more days use. BBC iPlayer needs to be added. Simple enough after googling how but works perfectly once done. Netflix is supported but it’s not the usual version so needs to be controlled via the Nebula mobile app. However I had a Fire TV stick not in use and that’s sorted Netflix perfectly. What’s also handy is that Plex and VLC apps are available so playing movies from you or NAS or an SD Card work (I used the later) and using a USB-C hub allows Ethernet too. I expect the Netflix point might annoy some people but it’s easily solved and to mention AppleTV and Disney are all supported. Prime too obviously.
