What’s the difference between the PS5 console and the PS5 Digital Edition console?

The only difference between the PS5 console and the PS5 Digital Edition console is the inclusion of an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive in the PS5 console. The PS5 Digital Edition console does not feature a disc drive.

Are there any performance differences between the PS5 console and the PS5 Digital Edition console?

No. The consoles’ performance is identical, outside the existence of a disc drive.

Can I use both PS5 console models in either horizontal or vertical orientation?

My first console ever, it is absolutely gorgeous, nice design, very quiet in operation, games running smoothly in 4k. Wanted it only because Gran Turismo 7 which is absolutely great, but there are still so much more good ones for it. Such a nice feeling, enjoying games from a couch, after work on 65″ TV. Definite recommendation for PS5 and if you using TV as me, try to find “Game mode” in settings as my Sony has, reduces any lag and everything runs smoothly. Good job Sony, well done

Everything come with its original packaging but the power cable was not the original power cable from sony because i also got a ps from curry couple months back they gave a different power cable so i would like yous to send me an original PlayStation 5 power cable this one has arabic writing on it.

It’s my second PS5, I have the disc version as my main console, this one was bought for the wife. Works perfectly, no complaints – I’ve no need to the disc version as I only digitally download games!

Personally I Like Having My Games In Digital Then Physical Allows Me To Keep All My Games Safe Without Anything Going Missing Or Damaged Your Games Remain In Your Place.

Bought the digital verson as i stopped buying disc games for my old PS4 Pro some time ago and it is about 100 cheaper that the disc version i also purchased Fifa 23 and another controller which all came to under 500 after i also purchest a 2 TB hard drive easy set up and quick data transfer from my old PS4 Pro

Very pleased with the product, it arrived swiftly and was well packaged. Looks brand new, the sticker seals on the box were a bit wonky, yet still attached and there was no signs of the cardboard tearing, so I don’t suspect it was previously opened. Works as expected. I got it for a very reasonable price at the time, feeling very lucky.

I won’t give you a full detailed tech review, plenty of reviews and comparisons on the ‘Tube.

In short – Sony is fantastic and this is a top notch product, I’ve not experienced any issues and it delivers new age gaming to the masses at a fair price. Particularly good for people who don’t care for getting into the more advanced and expensive world of PC gaming.

My only WARNING – Excessive use may cause relationship issues

First of all, the PS5 is far too big. It looks out of place no matter where you decide to put it.

The good news is that it’s quick and games look brilliant on a 4K TV.

The bad news is that new AAA games cost 70 and the user interface needs some work. You can also only use 667GB of the 825GB SSD due to system files. This isn’t the end of the world but it’s something to be mindful of.

In comparison, the Xbox Series X has 802GB of usable storage, which means 198GB is reserved for system files and the Xbox operating system.

In conclusion, the PS5 does what it set out to do and does it well. Games look great and run beautifully on a 4K TV. AAA games always drop in price, given time and the UI is likely to be improved as the console ages.

Improved UX of the OS. Not the best it could be, but the best yet.

The disc free version of the PS5 is the better of the two as A) who the hell still uses discs, and B) there are no mechanical parts to fail.

Buy an external SSD HD, plugged in via USB C and you’re future proofed.

The native PS5 games selection at launch, and even 7 months later, is utter rubbish. Luckily there is backwards compatibility meaning the PS4 game backlog can fill the gap.

The physical size of the thing is huge, the biggest yet. Though it’s less heavy than the original PS3.

It looks better than all previous PlayStations.

The controller replaces the PS4 controller as the best ever. It has great sense features that older controllers never had, nor the competition.

Best thing is the utter silence at which the PS5 operates. There are no whirling fans that sound like a 747 taking off. Nothing.

As the games library is currently non existant, the graphical quality is hard to evaluate, but logic says it’s miles ahead of the PS4.

Game fan? Have previous PlayStations? Buy the PS5. You won’t regret it.

After owning the ps5 digital edition since launch day I have to say it feels a solid upgrade on my ps4 pro. Playing spider man miles morales with Ray tracing enabled really showed off the capability of the system. It was a little rough to start off with as my ps5 crashed a couple of times including rest mode which also disconnected my external hdd and had to run a repair on reboot but all was fine thankfully. After a couple of system updates the console is very stable and is generally very snappy. Having the OS run on ssd makes the world of difference when accessing dash features in the background and game installs on ssd have instant load times. The UI feels completely new and is super intuitive. The dualsense is simply the best controller I’ve ever used. Really nice ergonomic fit in my hands and love the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
I like the design of the console but its is very large. The symmetry of the digital edition looks a lot better to me than the disc edition, but I decided to go for this as I buy most of my games on offer on the ps store now anyway. I’m even impressed with how some ps4 games run on ps5. Some games got updates to make use of the ps5 hardware and playing ghost of tshushima in 60 fps looks amazing. It just feels like I’m getting a next gen experience but also able to carry over my old experiences ps4 games and even have them improved upon. The only thing I would dispute is the system is not whisper quiet. I like a lot of people have some coil whine but it’s pretty minor and you have to stand next to it to hear it properly. Still much quieter than my ps4 pro jet engine that meant I couldn’t even hear the game volume.
For 359 you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck if you can live without the disc drive. Thouroughly recommended!

I am very happy with digital PS5. It’s silent and controller is not drifting, will see how it goes. I don’t remember last time when I bought disk, or used one. I am waiting for huge discount before I buy any game, because it’s just not possible go trough all of them. PS plus is usually giving 2 or 3 good games every month, and I got bunch of “free” games with PS5 PS plus collection. Never played God of war, so now I am enjoying best version of it. All games launches unfinished and broken these days. I just wait patiently a year or so untill they are playable and prices always drops on games after a year. Storage us not a problem, I hooked 2TB regular external drive for PS4 games. Controller is bit bigger then ps4 controller, and it’s harder to get a grip. Personally for me new haptics system is just a gimmick. It’s starting getting in the way in multiplayer. I have it on low for now. 3D audio is bad too, did not work well for me, maybe in future games will be better. Overall, if you can get one, most likely you will enjoy PS5.

So I left a review on the Series X and for all of its praises I gave it a slight grilling due to the fact that it largely felt evolutionary rather than revolutionary, just nothing new to play and the hardware is just more of the same. In many ways the PS5 is similar. I mean it has better graphics than its predecessor no doubt, but I have to say, the loading times when optimised are ridiculously fast, and the thing that really makes this console stand out is the controller. The haptics can target multiple points on the controller, the speaker is carry over and neat touch, but those adaptive triggers are something else. Playing through Astro’s Playroom, not only did it feel like I was playing a Pixar movie, the audio and controller experience was what truly set this apart from anything else I’d ever experienced before. Add to that the fact that the console runs super quiet, and has one of the slickest setup processes I’ve ever experienced, along with the clean, user-friendly UX, I’d say yes, overall the PS5 is revolutionary. Can’t wait to see how things pan out over the years!
