Does what it says on the tin. I bought a high spec PC several months ago, foregoing hard drive space to have a better graphics card, knowing that replacing hard drives is possibly the easiest upgrade for the average home user. My PC came with a 1tb hard disk drive so upgrading to this 8tb Solid State drive has been a massive improvement.
Definitely recommended.
I bought it for a specific purpose, to be a clone for my boot drive. My previous one, an M.2 SSD, overheated, shutting down my computer. This one got no further than warm. Being a SATA means it’s noticeably slower, but I hope I’ll never have to use it of course. I’m pleased with it. I’ve seen it cheaper.
Ideal expansion SSD for any computer, whether a gamer or not. 2Tb is a great size, and both performs well and looks good. Simple really, if you’re looking for additional storage, buy this one!
I used the Samsung Magician to migrate from a much older and slower spinning HDD to this 1TB disk and it worked very well. The old disk in situ and the Samsung disk connected via USB to SATA cable for the transfer.
The disk is not recognised by the laptop on a soft reboot (Windows restart) but does so on a hard (power off) reboot but may be more of a laptop issue rather than the Samsung disk.
This arrived next day and was very easy to install (note that in some deskside PC’s you might need a 2.5″ carrier to mount it) . I’m not a super techie, so not an expert on speeds etc all i know is it makes a notable difference compared to the high end hard drive i replaced. Very easy to install with the samsung tools, i just cloened the disk i was replacing and away i went. Very happy with purchase and much less risk of losing data than with amn old style mechanical disk.
Installed within 30mins of arrival.
Reboot, install latest OS from USB, system rebuilt and operational within 1 hour.
System now super fast and no clunky disk noise, breathed new life into the aging beast.
Just wish Samsung had provided the securing bolts
The best SSD I’ve ever used! It works a treat for Microsoft Flight Simulator because updates for that game are big and clunky. I think it’s fair to say that this SSD will keep me going for a long time yet. The only reason it didn’t work at first was just me being an idiot and forgetting to connect up the SATA power.
Purchased to expand to storage on series X. Good speeds when paired with a decent cable and enclosure. Easily store my previous gen catalogue of games and several new gen games I’m not currently playing.
I wanted to speed my laptop up from the hdd that is fitted so I got this from amazon at a good price fitted it in about 20 mins now it like a now laptop very fast and a lot more storage, all for around 60

I bought this to replace the hard drive in a 12 year old desktop I had been using for work. In the end it proved a but beyond my ability to install it but our local computer shop did a great job. The machine now boots up in moments rather than needing 5 minutes. Of course Windows 10 will get dropped at some time but it will extend the life until that happens.
Bought a second hand PlayStation 4 Pro. Then bought this Samsung SSD to go in the system once the PS4 was stripped and cleaned. Now quiet as a mouse, the SSD works perfectly and the only noise coming from the system is if I’m playing a Blu-Ray. I do have the PS4 shut down when not in use, it may or may not give a little more life to the SSD who knows. If you’re thinking of replacing the HDD this is a decent drive. I’m told 2Tb is the highest capacity a PS4 will accept internally.
Bought to replace existing 4Tb spinning hard drives in my music replay systems. Installation as expected; unplug old drive, plug in new. Copy data to new drive. Haven’t performed any speed tests, but the SSDs certainly seem to respond better than the old spinners. SSDs are definitely quieter, just as expected.
So … pleasingly uneventful. No drama, no issues, everything worked exactly as expected.
I’ve bought Samsung hard disks, USBs and smaller SSDs in the past, and will continue to use their products in future.
This is for both the 4TB and 2TB models as I purchased both. For those looking to upgrade to a bigger internal drive in either, beware that the Xbox One will not support bigger than 2TB and the PS4 4TB respectively.
In terms of performance don’t expect instant loading for games/levels, but you should expect that they will load a damn sight faster than before. However the biggest benefit is noise reduction from each system, the PS4 Pro in my case ramps up on digital games regardless but is otherwise silent as any system can be. The Xbox One is the biggest benefit as it becomes damn near silent regardless, to the point if I wasn’t using it I would wonder if it was on as the original drive is just that noisy.
Regarding useable space The PS4 Pro gets 3.58GB with 4TB, The Xbox One gives 1.6TB over the paltry 840 – 860GB respectively. I would say that this is the best bang for buck upgrade, especially if you’re looking to preserve games on older consoles like me. With games like Forza horizon 2 and 3 either outright disappearing from the store or losing dlc as an example, this is probably the best option to keep them around as external storage either brake or get used for other things.
I bought this SSD to replace an HDD and to store all my music on my QuietPC. It was easily installed and is very fast to select and play an album. Storage is 4Tb so there is room for more music.

Please be warned that you really need some computer experience to get anything above 2TB as a boot system. I wanted this for my operating system and I spent about five to ten hours getting this to work. Firstly you need a bios that is capable of UEFI if you do not have this, then you will not get this drive to work. Well you can get it to work, but only for storage and not for Windows 10 as an example. If your computer is an old system and can only handle MBR which is the older file system then it will only register two terabytes, which is why you need UEFI and format the drive as GPT. If you are scratching your head wondering what I am talking about, then anything higher than a 2 TB unless you are using for storage will not be for you. I had to use Rufus and a copy of Windows on a USB stick. I shall buy another one in the future, I cannot comment on games etc etc as I do not play them, but for storage it is more than suitable.
Samsung is the only brand I buy apart from the Crucial MX series. It is worth the extra 10 over the cheaper options as it will not slow down randomly when you need it the most.
Plugged in, partitioned and formatted in seconds, all good.
The Blackmagic RAW write/read test came out better than my Macbook Air M1’s soldered on SSD.

1. It comes with no screws, you have to buy your own. I used double sided tape instead.
2. Like all SSD manufacturers, they cheat with the size. It’s not 1TB, it’s 1,000,000,000 bytes that actually works out as 931MB storage space. So don’t be surprised if that’s the free space you see, it’s by design.

One is in an always on NAS mini PC, and the other is my portable software repo, in a UGREEN portable USB C Superspeed plus enclosure (ASIN B07D2BHVBD)
Nothing to fault. I now have far faster access to the NAS (the HDD used to spin down to conserve power), and I have a more lightweight solution for a software repo on the go. I run Bitlocker with a password on the portable drive.
Only thing to note is that once the SLC cache is full (78GB), the sustained write speed drops to 160GB/s, not a big deal except to be aware of it particularly when you first load up the SSD with your data, or embark on sustained exceptionally large data transfers.
Easy install and now Laptop much faster, however, had errors using my USB 2 to SSD cable to migrate to the new drive so then I tried another one I had and all good!! Time for 250GB to 1TB and took around 2 hours ish.
I’ve used the 850, 860 and this one now. Four in PCs / laptops Windows 10 upgrade ~ 2016 ish. One in Nvidia media player since 2018, no issues where it’s merged into Android main memory and my old laptop donated it’s to the Chromecast TV dongle when I outed it. Those cases can be used to put the drive in for external use, deliver USB3 how I got them on the Nvidia and Chromecast TV dongle.
For PC / laptop you use the Magician software that clones the existing drive then pop it in. A cradle can be used during the process or one of those cases or a spare port. All very painless. You get the fun of where to put the drive in the PC. Mounts are sold to bolster them up to the normal size HD, plastic or a dummy card it clips into. Have used both. Might require a usb3 card if no port. Did that on one.

I had this old Toshiba laptop which I got when windows 7 was all the rage. The PC must be ten years old now. I had loaded win 10 but the PC was very slow to start up {over 5 mins} and sometimes overheated and shut down. So I got this SSD, they are not too expensive and easy to fit on the laptop. What a difference. I just timed it now and from pressing start to windows main screen {including logging on } was 21 secs. Shutdown was 11 secs. So now I am going to get a new battery for it. Also it has not shutdown from overheating and its been on all day. The fan I only heard once so that’s a winner too. SSD’s are also good when gaming as they reduce loading speeds but this laptop is not very good for gaming so couldn’t test that.
I know there is an upgraded version of this but this one here is absolutely amazing.
Initial impressions are good. I was surprised to see this drive was 25 LESS than the other drive I have (Crucial MX500 2TB) and that’s a decent drive so I hope this Samsung is better. I am a bit dubious about the TBW on this drive but in a good way. The TBW is the same on the Crucial (700) but according to it’s software (which also reads the Samsung and the NVME built in on the same machine) The Crucial has just hit the 1PB mark with 68% health and is still downloading at full speed for my connection (112MB/sec) so if the Samsung does similar I will be very happy!
I recently upgraded to the Samsung 870 QVO 2 TB SATA 2.5 and it’s been a fantastic addition to my computer setup. The drive is lightning-fast and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in boot times and overall system performance. The 2 TB capacity is more than enough for my needs and allows me to store all of my important files, photos, and videos in one place.

So far so good! Haven’t had it for too long, but this replaced my old sata drive, so obviously a big upgrade in speed. No problems, looks great (because obviously that matters!!) And so far reliable
Copied hard drive to ssd. Then swayed memory RAM. Then reset the bios. The result went from 27 minutes bootup time with hard drive to what the video shows. About half a minute. Going to a reputable make and speed of ssd like this one will make a very big difference to the overall speed of your computer. Do not buy cheap unbranded ssd drives.

I can’t name one bad thing about it, bought it to replace a smaller C Drive SSD, used macrium reflect and the result is now a much larger C Drive

-Significantly faster and less likely to corrupt than an HDD
-Silent, will go well with a silent PC
-Lightweight, won’t make your case heavy like an HDD might
-quick and easy setup
Cons:
-probably will be much cheaper in the next few years
-If data is corrupted, it’s hard to get back, I’ve heard some have bad quality control
-Not the actual size it advertises, for example my 2TB is actually 1.81TB

The instruction booklet that came with it seemed to be in pretty much every other language then English, but I managed to get it installed, and the contents of the old drive copied over pretty easily via the Samsung Magician software which can be downloaded from their site (after a small amount of detective work).
I do have to say that it seems a little mean that they did not include a chassis that the SSD can sit in and be securely tethered inside the computer, at the moment the drive is sitting precariously on bundle of unused SATA cables. Other than that, I am pretty well satisfied.
