Likes, quiet, high capacity with more than enough space to back up most internal HDD. This is the second of the same drive and capacity from Seagate and would recommend it to anyone looking for an external drive. I have used it on both an iMac 27″ and MacBook Air and easily used on both
I am using this extra storage but as yet have to find someone that can show me how to reload somehting I need back on my computer. Great size and will be easily transported. have not used Tech Support yet so cannot comment.
This is the second Seagate Portable Drive that I’ve bought. The first I bought some years ago never had any problems and still performing well. So buying a second was a no brainer!!
I think the price was fair. Ive already shpved abput 3.3tb onto it so its defo a 4tb. And seems brand new.
Cant comment on life span of this one from this seller. But the other 4tb seagate ive had since about 2015-2016 still functions amd i still use it. So shouldnt be any issues
I have owned several seagate products over the years and they have never failed. I purchased this external storage to replaced a 2G seagate drive which I have had for about 7 years. It does require main’s power hence only three stars for portability but I know that when I ordered it and I didn’t need it to be portable as it is for use with a iMac not a MacBook.
Being mains powered it is much faster than the truly portable hard drives but that’s a trade off against speed and portability.
I bought this disk to amalgamate several old WD drives. Although it does what it says on the tin, I wasn’t expecting it to be noticeably noisier compared with the old ones.
I bought this to replace my 1TB external hard drive because I needed one with decent storage. This is perfect for what I want, transferring large graphics files from one PC to another, my 2nd PC not having internet (by my choice!). Very happy.
Used this to record youtube videos and store them on a safe hardrive and does the job and can also store games bigger then 100GB safely haven’t had any problems good value for money.
It’s a light, easy portable drive that does what it’s designed to do.
My only problem was that it’s a little difficult to set up on a MacBook – there aren’t any real instructions given with the device on how to do so, which meant I had to go onto YouTube where there were fortunately some good videos on how to set it up with a MacBook. This may be a problem for people that aren’t too tech savvy though.
ice colour built pretty well gets a bit warm though in use and I wish they would include rubber feet!!
I have many of these units I have to buy packs of bubble stickers to place 4 on the bottom of the drives to stop vibrations and sliding around!!!!!
Easy to install – I am very pleased with my purchase, it was good value for money. Provides plenty of storage to back up even though it’s small – so good as portable too. I am not very good with technical items but this was easy for me to use. It exceeded my expectations and I would recommend.
This external hard drive is great value for money I used it to backup all my files Files transferred easily and quickly No problems with it Would recommend it to anyone who needs a portable backup
This is the 6th seagate HD I have purchased, never let me down and great value for money. I use these for keeping my music collections safe as I’m a DJ, great piece of kit, very quick transfer, this 12TB version is for a full back up of some of my other ones. would recommend
My last one was past its sell by date, this one fits the bill. It is 2GB (twice the old one) portable light in weight and fits with my new USB lead. I use it to store my backups of useful items that I might need to get at easily. Very pleased with the Tech support that comes with it.
So easy, plugged into power, plugged into ish 3.2 and instantly had almost 12tb of space.
A roomy vault to handle anything.
The usb b and c ports in the front are brilliant for charging and provide extra ports so you don’t lose any when plugging it into your pc.
It isn’t small, as wide as my tower but it sits on top of said tower and I have a stand for my headset atop that.
All in all, very happy with this Seagate drive.
Used with Windows 11 pro.
I’m currenty capturing old DV tapes onto hard drive prior to editing and thence to flash drive. This drive seems to fulfil all my needs and provides plent of storage at modest case. Small size makes it very portable. Seems robust as it survived a drop from my letter box to a hard floor.

My fault not the products I brought this drive before realising it has fairly low transfer speeds – capacity is good though for the price and it’s got quite a small fan rm factor for the capacity
Purchased this to download my home videos on to to free up memory from my lap top but most of all it is portable so I can take it with me to show the rest of the family. Very easy to use and value for money.
Got it to backup and archive my videos and editing projects from various SSD’s. Tried using the software provided by Seagate to copy all the files and it was horribly slow and failed mid copying from an SSD so had to format and do everything all over again. Later tried just drag and dropping to copy the files and managed to copy 1TB in about 2 hours. Obviously slower than modern SSD’s which I’ve gotten used to but for the price am very happy with the amount of storage and speed. Hopefully lasts long enough, will edit review if any issues occur.
I recently acquired the Seagate Portable Drive, and it has exceeded my expectations in more ways than one. This 1TB external hard drive not only offers ample storage but also comes with a valuable added feature — 2-year Rescue Services.
The first thing that caught my eye was the sleek and modern dark grey design of the drive. It blends seamlessly with my PC and Mac, making it a versatile choice for cross-platform users. Setting it up was a breeze; it was practically plug-and-play, requiring minimal effort on my part.
The real standout feature here is the 2-year Rescue Services. This added peace of mind is invaluable. In the digital age, we store so much important data on our devices, and the fear of losing it is always there. With Seagate’s Rescue Services, I know that if anything goes wrong, my data is in safe hands. It’s a comforting thought that not all external drives offer.
Performance-wise, this Seagate drive has been flawless. It’s fast and responsive, allowing for quick data transfers. Whether I’m backing up important files, storing my multimedia collection, or simply expanding my device’s storage, it handles it all without a hiccup.
Portability is another strong point. It’s incredibly lightweight and compact, easily fitting into my bag or pocket. This makes it perfect for on-the-go professionals like me who need access to their data wherever they are.
The 1TB capacity provides ample space for my needs, and should I ever need more, I can easily purchase additional Seagate drives or upgrade to a larger model.
Overall, the Seagate Portable Drive is a reliable, sleek, and efficient storage solution with the added benefit of Rescue Services. If you’re looking for a portable hard drive that offers both performance and peace of mind, this is an excellent choice.
For 8TB and a price of 110 with a rebate, I can’t complain! It does come with sub par usb-A to mini HDD cable, so be aware of that if your computer is USB-C only. Needs power input but that is expected for this type of device. Had another disc from the same brand that lasted more than a decade so expectations on reliability are high for this one. We will see!
Plenty of storage for music, photos, games, and/or videos. My only gripe is that the supplied cable is a bit short if you’re connecting this hard drive up to a laptop. However 2m cables are easily available from a variety of suppliers and they don’t cost much so it’s a minor issue but one that’s cost this a star in the rating. If you’re hooking this up to a PC or gaming console it’s not going to be a concern. Can’t comment on tech support as I’ve not needed any and, touch wood, I won’t.
I use the 14TB version of the Seagate One Touch Hub set up for continuous backup of my laptop (using the software “Toolkit” provided). It offers me a simple way to ensure I have my system covered, should the main drive on my laptop suddenly die or the system becomes corrupted. Personally I use this as part of a three part backup scheme, along with a NAS (off site) and another external hard drive. Can’t be too careful !
The size of this drive also means I can use it for storage of photos and video, along with a document repository for all my scanned personal documents. The One Touch Hub comes in a variety of drive sizes.
It is password protected (although you can set it to recognise the main laptop / PC / Mac you are using it with (connected to via the USB lead) so that you don’t have to enter the password every time you switch it on). Obviously if you disconnect the drive or use it with another laptop / PC / Mac it will need the user set password to operate it – so it’s secure, protecting your data if stolen.
I’ve only had the drive a few weeks so can’t comment on longevity and not had to contact Tech Support , so I can’t rate that either. However I have used Seagate drives in the past and found them to be ultra reliable.
In a nutshell, if you want an easy to use back up solution for your Windows or Mac computer this is well worth considering. Set up and leave and it does the rest.
I have a selection of Seagate portable HDDs that I’ve gathered over the years. Most live in a “safe place” and contain monthly backups and archives. I got this latest one as a TimeMachine drive for my MacBook and, as far as I can tell, it’s doing the job nicely. Daily (automatic) backups seem to run, and random checks on retrieval work. By having multiple backups I’m less concerned about reliability as it would take at least three drives to fail to have a significant impact for me (as I would then need to spend time downloading from cloud backups). Me paranoid? I’ve had to recover data for people who have lost it without having a proper backup, and it rarely goes well. I don’t consider data safe until I have backups off-site and totally air-gapped.
Seagate drives, as all drives, can fail. But, if drive failure causes a significant problem, your strategy need’s reviewing. These drives are low cost and there’s no excuse to be too frugal.
I use SDDs (Samsung T5/T7 at the moment) for working – Seagate HDDs for backup and archiving.
as i have seagate , i chose this one and love the ease
Does what it’s designed to do. The transfer speed is also quite impressive over usb 3
Not had it long, appears to be working fine and decent transfer rate
Good product from Seagate. Built quality is great, and data transfer is fast. Highly recommend i
Downloads very fast, nice and neat. Really easy too use plug and go
Fits everything I wanted to put on it from steam etc for my laptop. So highly recommend.
exleant and came on time and what expected the product be that is how it was
Easy to install and setup, small footprint good capacity size.
I bought this HDD as the one I was using seemed to have stopped functioning properly. It was easy to set up and I managed to transfer everything from my old HDD to this one. I then formatted the old one and it’s working properly again so I now have two.
Great cheap drives. Rarely had any trouble with Seagate drives. And I use them A LOT. Would recommend it over other known brand which let me down too many time to buy it again. Use these for full project backups, but also tested on high speed data environments -all’s good.
Really slow transfer of data, But i only got this for steam games and it works great. So if you don’t mind waiting two or three hours depending on the size of the game, then yes it’s well worth the price.
i am told not to rely on it beyond 5 years – then data will be lost.
I needed a portable hard drive to backup and swap documents and photos from my old laptop to my new laptop. The Seagate 2TB is perfect: simple to use, small and portable but (hopefully) too big to lose/forget. Worked as soon as it was plugged in and capable of storing hundreds of Raw images and large MS Office files.
Not surprisingly, this comes ready to use with Windows, formatted as NTFS. I use Apple, which can read NTFS but can’t write it without using 3rd party software. FAT and exFAT can’t support the high capacity. I have reformatted the drive as APFS – Apple’s file system – so that I can use it as a Time Machine backup.
I’ve had some corrupted or lost backups from bus-powered drives, but this is mains powered, so plug in and forget.
The occasional whirr and rattle as the disc spins up is the only time I notice it.
The drive works perfectly for my needs and 5TB is a nice, large capacity for holding lots of backups.
Although when selecting it says 2.5 inch disc size it’s actually 3.5. Comes with several power plug fitment styles so can be used in many countries. Transfer rates are as expected for a 3.5 disc (about 36mb/sec), so if you’re transferring a lot of data to it it will take time. Once transferred however it’s no slower than an internal 3.5 inch disc.
I took a plunge and bought this to plug into a 4k Panasonic TV to try out the recording straight to drive rather than a DVR. I didn’t want to spend a great deal not knowing if it would work, but it did, perfectly. Extremely easy to set up, plugged in with the cable provided and the TV recognised it, formatted and away we go.
It’s neat and tidy with a sleak black finish and sits behind the TV not being noticed. If I had to nitpick, and that’s all it is, the cable could have been a bit longer, but they’re easy to find and it’s just about long enough.
I’ve personally (touch wood) never had a problem with seagate, and have used them for years if not decades. Whilst not the most premium of brands, they’re cheap, they work and they last.
Do be warned, as with purchasing ANY hard drive, it is always lower compacity than it claims, this is completely normal, and the larger the size drive, the more space “lost” For example, a 2TB drive should work out at around 1.81TB or there abouts. Again, it’s normal and will be the same regardless of make.
