I got this for my boyfriend, and he loves it.
I purchased this DAC Headphone Amp to replace my old oppo portable and I am extremely pleased with the sound quality, balanced headphone ports and overall form factor.
The DAC works great with no drivers required in macOS 11 and is able to drive my 300ohm Sienhiesers effortlessly when set to high gain mode.
The remote is an added bonus and I do very much like having both the physical volume knob and the OLED screen display that shows the bitrate and volume level.
Overall I am very pleased with this Hi-Res audio product and highly recommend the seller Aoshida Audio-CA for their prompt customer service when I had a question to ask.

Bought this DAC as a ‘used’ unit. It arrived with all of the accessories in the original box – the screen protector was still in place even! As a bonus the remote even had batteries from the previous owner. The only signs that it was previously owned was that the case wasn’t that perfect, fresh from the factory perfectly and consistently black and some of the settings were changed which took a couple of extra minutes to overcome during setup. In the end I’m very pleased with the unit, happy to have saved a couple of bucks, and glad this returned unit didn’t end up in a landfill or something.
Customer service is Awesome too! Not that I needed anything, product is Amazing, they reached out to see if I had any questions and to thank me for the purchase. Totally elevated my enjoyment of my music!
This DAC is a steal for what it costs. It sports up-to-date technology. Bluetooth (BT) can store connections for different devices, and it’s easy to reconnect them through the phone / tablet. BT also supports the latest transmission standards.
The DAC itself is a Sabre DAC. I did some A-B comparisons against my CD player (which has a Wolfson DAC). When using LDAC and streaming lossless music, the C200 is not quite as defined in the base, and very high treble and low-mids a bit leaner. None of the details are missing. Having said this, these differences are really minute and require lots of switching back and forth to figure out. And it shows only with complex music, not so much with pop or rock. Of course, the signal is a bit more degraded if you use an iPhone (AAC over BT) as opposed to a laptop or android, which can do LDAC. But that’s not a DAC issue.
I have not tested the headphone amp or used the optical / usb / coax connections.
Overall, this is an extremely capable unit with a solid BT implementation and a highly capable DAC that produces an accurate and pleasing sound. I am completely surprised that this can be had at this price.
Considerando il prezzo ha ottime prestazioni, non enfatizza il suono creando un ascolto piacevole. Utilizzato con le Mezze 109 pro ha forse un po’ di limiti nella scena sonora, comunque accettabile visto il prezzo molto conveniente.
Impressive product bundled with all features a DAC could possibly have. 2 min after unboxing and the SMSL C200 device was already visible on my macOS Monterey sound interface menu + 2 additional minutes to setup Bluetooth on one iPhone + one iPad !
This is my 4th upgrade of USB DAC.
It has excellent sound quality OOB on the balanced audio output.
The only issue is a delayed response of the volume control (small lag).
The headphone amplifier is OK, but sound quality is below average.

I’ve had the SMSL C200 for 3 months. Space-saving and sharp-looking. The DAC is clear as a bell, with no audible distortion through speakers (Elac Debut 6.2) or headphones (Dan Clark Aeon Open X and others). Drives just about any impedance headphones with authority. Balanced (4.4mm) and unbalanced (1/4″) headphone outputs along with TRS balanced amplifier outputs. The USB-C input brings this into the 2020’s.
What could improve: having the display revert to showing the volume level rather than the sample rate, and for SMSL to make a matching speaker amplifier (or even an integrated amplifier, but alas I ask too much). Otherwise just about perfect!
I’ve only had this dac/amp for a couple of weeks but I’m smitten. I had a difficult time finding something that would do everything and this worked out great. I needed:
-high quality dac and amp
-balanced pre-outs for studio monitors
-mode switch from headphone amp to pre-outs (not both at once)
-separate volume level for headphones and pre-outs
-adjustable jitter sensitivity since I wanted to use the crummy optical output from my tv/monitor
-sensible ui/function control
I had been using a JDS Element and was very happy with it but needed something with an optical input. I tried the equivalent Topping unit but it was difficult to use, the volume control felts like crap, the 3.5mm headphone jack was disappointing, and the rca outputs for my monitors let them pick up noise. This unit is so much nicer to use Topping (not as nice as the JDS of course but way more features.)
This does EVERYTHING that I could have hoped for and for the money it’s a great value. Highly recommend!
While this performs in the top tier of products with balanced connections per ASR, it isn’t truly balanced internally. The balanced connections are provided for convenience. Since you can’t hear a difference or measure a difference, it doesn’t matter. The engineers at Aoshida / SMSL know how to optimize a product for a price point. If you receive more enjoyment from spec sheets than the extra money in your wallet SMSL has other more expensive products to purchase that are internally balanced with very similar performance.
Great features include:
* More than enough to drive 300 ohm headphones.
* Integrated power supply, so you don’t have a brick or need to find an extra USB connection.
* Included useful remote.
* Quality feeling front button.
* BT is easy to pair and fine for convenient streaming when not engaged in critical listening.
Things to keep in mind:
* Included USB cable is a bit short. You may want to purchase a longer USB input cable.
Reasons to look elsewhere:
* You need to drive a high impedance headphone, such as something with 600 ohm impedance.
* You want a DAC/AMP that is internally balanced.
* You need something portable to with a built-in battery that fits in your pocket to use on the go.
* You need your DAC/AMP to have a sub out, for ease of connection to a sub. (If using with a sub, you can normally connect the C200 to your SUB. Then, you would connect the sub to your speakers.)

Le C200 a un trs bon rapport qualit prix pour ses nombreuses prestations.
Excellent rendu sonore, bonne construction et finition de l’ensemble. Dommage que l’affichage par dfaut ne puisse pas tre modifi. Vendeur qui semble fiable et communicant.
Je suis trs satisfait de cet achat.
I should have written my experience with this terrific little product sooner. The amazing thing is it does exactly what they say it will. It handles every sample rate I’ve thrown at it and does so flawlessly to my ears. My two favorite headphones are the 30 Ohm Grado RS-1 and 300 ohm Sennheiser HD 600. It drives both sets of phones louder than I care to listen even on the low setting. This C200 has replaced a 40 lb dedicated vacuum tube headphone amplifier that doesn’t have a DAC. And it costs less than one of the UTC output transformers. I added an aluminum shelf to the vacuum tube beast, in the picture you can see the SMSL C200 nestled safely within. The remote control is a simple joy to use.
Using a USB 2.0 port on Linux Mint 20.3, the C200 was immediately recognized with no additional drivers, and aplay -L correctly identified the devices. Excellent job.
Everything about Aoshida has been first class, from the initial order via Amazon to all the follow-up email from Judy. There are real people at Aoshida who want to make sure the product arrives safely and that you enjoy it. How refreshing. I tried SMSL HO100 amp, but unfortunately I could hear noise generated by Xonar DX (the amp was great too).
This way I use Xonar DX’s DSP and C200’s DAC. Optical connection electrically decouples C200 from any computer generated noises.
C200 is not truly balanced, but it has more then enough juice to power 300 Ohm headphones. I set sound at 100% on computer and about 50-60% on C200 and its more then enough. At full volume it is too loud for me.
Sound is good and clear. I can definitely hear details I couldn’t hear using HD555 directly connected to Xonar DX.
Menu navigation and remote probably not the best and not the most intuitive, but once I set it up I just use volume knob within arm reach. If you need to switch inputs often or change settings – it may be a little annoying.
It is dead quite at 100% volume if no sound is played – basically no noise at all.
Pretty happy with this device for my needs.

J’ai acquis ce DAC pour remplacer un prcdent modle, plus cher et moins complet.
Pour rappel, le SMSL C200 fait:
– DAC
– Rcepteur Bluetooth
– Ampli casque
– Pr-ampli
Et, contrairement ses concurrents plus cher, Il dispose de sorties symtriques :
– TRS pour des enceintes actives ou un ampli de puissance
– Jack 4.4 pour un casque
Bref, un tout en un super qualitatif petit prix. Que demander de plus ?

Come da mia abitudine negli ultimi mesi, ho cercato tra le recensioni pubblicate su Audio Science Review indirizzandomi sul Topping DX3 Pro+ e sul SMSL C200. Due dispositivi nella stessa fascia di prezzo e con prestazioni molto simili. Alla fine ho scelto il C200 per la presenza di un uscita bilanciata che manca al DX3 Pro+.
Le prestazioni come DAC sono eccellenti, come amplificatore per cuffie ha prestazioni sopra la media, ma non paragonabili a dispositivi dedicati solo a questo compito. Comunque non ho avuto alcun problema a guidare le mie cuffie (Sennheiser HD598SE, Truthear x Crinacle Zero e Shuoer Tape Pro), sebbene non siano le pi difficili da guidare.
Le 4 stelle sono dovute al display carente di informazioni e alla difficolt di navigare tra le impostazioni. Il display mostra di norma la sola frequenza di campionamento, le informazioni sulla sorgente attiva, sul volume , sull’uscita scelta (cuffie o linea) o sul guadagno, vengono mostrate solo agendo sulla manopola o sul telecomando. Il Topping al contrario ha un display molto pi ricco di informazioni e sarebbe da preferire nel caso non si avesse la necessit di un’uscita bilanciata.

Look around with what eyes/ DAC eyes, amplify, simply in modest quite shy .. hey are you there .. references .. to inner .. a use some method not known .. a part, this is drama coochie-coo lay off it’s a rough world, stay healthy, a hardline meditation, medical grade chi kung, is not a joke, no drugs, no booze, but a dirty mouth? hey .. lolly-springy-fd-due .. or live in written work, or videos elsewhere, attempt “some way through” get on board, nothing works .. hey, this little DAC has very good sound, a step up from the portable DVD player I was using. thank you.
