I have been using a Beam plus two Ones for surround sound for a few years now. I have always found the sound quality, including the bass range, to be exceptional for what it is. How Sonos got so much bass out of a little soundbar always amazed me! When they released the sub mini I took the plunge and overall I have been very happy with it. It hasn’t transformed the sound of my system, obviously there is more bass at the extreme lower levels which is what I expected, but the idea of the sub taking bass notes in order to let the Beam deal better with mid range? I can’t say I have noticed a big improvement in that area, it was pretty good before.
I have been into hifi since the 1970’s and I have yet to hear a compact system like Sonos come close to a decent hifi with good quality stereo speakers. But as far as convenience, versatility and appearance is concerned, Sonos is a winner, switch on the telly, you get surround sound, no fiddling with amps and inputs. Ask Alexa to play Radio 2 and she does, no fiddling with tuning dials. Play music from your phone, easy, no messing with records or cassettes or CD’s. It’s the future!
I wasn’t sure whether this could come close to giving me the same audiophile features I previously had with my separates and wired speaker system but pairs beautifully with my sonos one and one sl. To all you bass heads out there who listen to baseline rather than mid range a well purchased addition. Will most likely listen to this lounge set up more
I started buying Sonos when the first speakers were released, they sounded good but the Wi-Fi was always troublesome. Advance to the 2010s and the 2020 s and onwards and all the Wi-Fi issues are gone and the sound is superb along all their range of speakers. The Sonos sub mini is no exception I have I paired with Sonos beam 2 and the sound between them is truly wonderful. If you are waiting or wondering wether to join their eco system then you will not be in my opinion disappointed.highly recommended.
My system is now complete, playbar ones and sub mini. The sub mini has transformed a brilliant sound to an amazing sound. Crisp, clear, better channel separation and deep measured bass you can feel. I’m so pleased. I’ve had a few systems over the years but sonos is by far the best and I expect to pay for the best. For me it’s definitely value for money for an unparalleled sound. I’ve had sonos for 7 years now and still look forward to an update. Buy it don’t mess about.
Very good speaker, I have got it set up to a Sonos beam and 2 old Sonos ones and it sounds amazing makes it a much more immersive experience, however it has a very steep price so only buy if your really wanting the best sound for your tv
Much more affordable than its larger alternative. Markedly enhances the Beam output and produces good clear sound. Simple setup.
So, I already have a Beam and two Sonos 3s as rear speakers for my TV. I’m not an audiophile, but do appreciate good sound in a movie. The Sub Mini has definitely added depth and volume, specifically it did a good job in the gun fight from Heat. That said, for the price, it’s not adding 430 of value. Would I buy again? Probably, as I need a sub and there isn’t really any other option. Just don’t expect your world to be rocked.
Sonos speakers aren’t the cheapest around but I don’t mind paying for the quality that you always get with this brand. I already had a Sonos sound bar with two Sonos rear speakers in my conservatory. This provided a good surround sound experience. “But” I always missed the depth of the subsonic rumbles that I experience from the setup in the living room. As soon as the new smaller subwoofer came on the market I had to have one. The difference is head and shoulders above what was already an excellent system. Great for watching action movies. Thoroughly recommended. Get one !!!
Great Sonos sound but had so do a complete factory reset to remove the previous connection from the speaker which means it was a second hand sub – will raise with Amazo
I had 2 Sonos Ones in stereo and a Beam. I was always put off adding a Sub because of price and also I have a smallish room. The Sub Mini tempted me even though the high price but eventually I jumped in. Wow it really brings out the richness and warmth of my Sonos system! Both classical and pop music so enhanced. The surround sound really comes out when playing movies! So glad I jumped!
My review for the setup of the Sonos Mini Sub is based on the android setup process
You plug in the Sonos Mini Sub (SMS) and then go to the Sonos App, give the SMS time to be found on your network, it doesn’t take long, the Sonos App will tell you when it’s found. Once the SMS is found the Sonos App will ask you to confirm you want to add the SMS, select the room and speaker setup you already have, then it asks you to confirm by tapping your phone on-top of the SMS. It will then ask you to confirm the update process, click yes and it will take a few minutes. I found the whole process simple and took around 5 minutes
I would highly recommend then going in your Sonos settings, with your favourite song playing, and tweak the base, surrounds, and all sound settings inside the equaliser. Adding the SMS will now change your original setup because the SMS takes care of all low base sounds freeing up the rest of your setup to take care of the mid and high range, before I bought the SMS there was always the issue, with just having the play base and surrounds, that when watching films the sound at times would be extremely loud especially during intense moments in action films for example. With the SMS there is no longer this problem, it takes care of all the low end base balancing out the sound experience across all the speakers
Now everything is setup, I found the detail and music range is absolutely amazing. The range is full, deep, immersive and the sound quality really does fill the room, and if you love music the new SMS will only increase your love for music, in my opinion
The Sonos Mini Sub has the same intention with film and TV lovers, it really does create that home cinema experience. I really hope that sooner rather than later Sonos offers an option to store settings to enable us to switch between movie and music listening on the fly. I found that setting up for music and movies are almost completely different. It’s a pain to keep adjusting the setup between the both. Presets could make an amazing experience … Perfect
Feel free to like my review as I recommend the Sonos Mini Sub, if you’re thinking of buying one, in my opinion you won’t be disappointed, what you waiting for? Do it, do it now!
This sub works perfect with the ARC. More than enough bass for an average size living room.
Bass is so strong even my neighbour started to enjoy techno music. Not for long tho because he couldn’t sleep. Bass is crazy it vibrates whole body and nothing can compare to it. Strongly recommended but you might end up being a lonely person, but with amazing bass
ot one to write reviews but wanted to with this item.
as the headline states I’m not a audio snob but the sonos sub mini is a great addition to my sound system. i have it paired with 2 play 1’s & a beam. The added depth of the bass really brings the movies and music to life! the viewing Experience has gone up a level which is great. buy one you won’t regret it!
I’ve had a Sonos system for years and always had a itch to get the sub, but the price always put me off. When I saw this mini-sub it felt like a better price point particularly for the room size I have.
My lounge is 4m x 5m. I’ve got a first gen Beam under the TV. The sub paired absolutely no problem, and within a couple of minutes I had the system up and running. The sound is incredible – I put some Metallica through it – just a huge complete sound compared to the Beam on its own. The depth and bass is quite amazing.
I also paired to my Sonos 1 speaker in another room. Again no problem, and again the sound is fantastic. But the sub will live in the lounge with the Beam.
Absolutely delighted. For the size of room this is absolutely perfect. Top marks!
Once it was set up properly it made all the difference, makes movies completely different experience , you can feel the sound, if you imagine the cinematic experience in your lounge it’s not far off tbh , is expensive , I’m glad I bought it I’m glad I invested in one I have no negative reviews bar the price .. would I pay same price for it again no .. no regrets
No dislikes. Easy to set up. Like the design and white colour. Adds an extra dimension to my beam sound bar.
Sonos sub is a brilliant add on to the sonos beam gen 2 can’t fault it awesome
Awesome sound, I have linked it to my beam gen 2 and 3 one’s 2nd gen. It sounded good before i linked the sub but now it’s unbelievable, I’m over the moon with it,it’s totally amazed me. Hurry up and get one you won’t be disappointed
