I’m very impressed with it! I’ve tried a few cameras in the past, but the app quality and its features really helps push this ahead of the rest.

    —-General/Kit—-

The camera feels tough, robust and looks smart and modern.
The plug features a changeable locking head with EU and US style attachments, so no problems right out of the box 🙂
The power cable attached to the plug is 2m, but a generous 6m extension is also supplied.
The base of the wall mount is plastic, which I find a little strange – but the support inside and where you mount the camera is metal. I like that the wall mount features a clip for the wire, so you can support it and make sure it stays in place and that the camera can move without there being any tension.
All the fittings/screws/wall plugs etc you need are provided.

Very nicely it also comes with two large stickers! Just in case you didn’t have any security/cctv warning labels before hand, you do now!
There is also a year warranty included when you register the product online, and they also offer 10% off a future order.

The instruction booklet shows the parts of your camera, how to set up and how to install the wall mount + attach the camera to it.
Unfortunately if you don’t want to mount it on a wall (For whatever reason, maybe you just want it inside to monitor a room etc) the camera is shaped in such a way that it doesn’t stand up on it’s own, so you’ll have to prop things against it. Do keep in mind it was designed to be mounted outdoors.

    —-Free/Paid Service features—-

The services with the app is free, but there are limitations you will want to be aware of. With a free account, you receive the following:
    Number of shared users: 1
    Recorded Video History: 24hr
    Video Downloads: 5 per month
Recorded Clip Max Length: 30sec for Outdoor Camera & Video Doorbell – 90sec for Security Light Camera (this product 🙂 )
    Customised Motion Detection: Yes
    Motion and Status Notifications: Yes
    Siren Duration: 60s

One of my favourite features for this camera is the ability to review the last 24hrs footage for FREE. Other cameras I’ve tried don’t offer this function at all for free.

There are subscription options that extend these various aspects. Pro and Elite – these can drastically improve the functionality of the app/camera, but all of the base functions are available for free. For example you can get:
More event recording time options, Adjustable siren duration, Unlimited downloads, Increased recorded video history (7 days with Pro and 90 with Elite!)

    —-Setup—-

Setting up with the app and pairing the device is simple! You just need to use the + to add device. Name the camera and connect the app to your wifi (Make sure your wifi doesn’t block new connections like mine ). Put the camera into pairing mode by holding the SET button for 3 seconds, click proceed in the app and the app does the rest! Mine always connected within a minute or so. The camera speaks to you at various stages (such as turning on, pairing, completed, turning off etc) so if you want to step away you’ll hear it call out when it’s connected/the app will let you know also.

Once connected, the app will update the camera and then it’ll be ready for use/live viewing.

    —-App Features—-

Here’s where the product so far has excelled over other cameras for me. The variety of services, features, tools and settings in the app, which include the following:
( ) Do not Disturb – On, Schedule
    ( ) Video Date/Time Stamp – On/Off
( ) Light Settings -Motion, Manual, Schedule, Alert. Brightness. Motion Duration. Motion Schedule.
For Alert mode, you can set the Siren + Light pattern and the duration.
( ) Night Vision – On, Off, Auto
( ) Motion Detection – Low, Med, High, Max. Snooze Schedule
( ) Motion Zones – Setup boundaries for where motion will be detected and reported. Orange zones will not detect motion.
( ) LED indication – On, Off, On when Recording
( ) Emergency Call – Can call Emergency Services, a manual number or select from contacts.
( ) Network – settings for your network connection
    ( ) Event Video Limit – 30, 50, 90s
( ) Auto Greeting – On/Off or Schedule. You can select pre-recorded greetings (and a dog barking!), or use Custom Greetings if you upgrade to Pro or Elite.
    crystal
As you can see there are a LOT of free settings! There are many options that are highly customisable, some of the most important ones being the motion detection boundaries, and how sensitive the detection is. It all works extremely well 🙂

When opening the camera for live viewing, there are a lot of features there too, which include:
( ) Hear what the camera can hear – On/Off
( ) Project your voice through the camera – On/Off
    ( ) Have the camera speak a pre-recorded phrase
    ( ) Take a video or Photo
    ( ) Call Emergency services
    ( ) Activate Alarm
( ) Activate Light (1min up to 120min in increments)
You can Also see the full camera display in this mode by panning around with your finger – but you can also put it into full screen to see it all at once. In full screen mode, you still have access to the buttons.

Periodically, the app will ask if you’re still watching.

In the Events tab, you can see all of the cameras recordings from motion detections. You can view these without using up any of your downloads – downloads will ONLY be used when you request to download the footage to your phone. With the free service, you can only access the past 24 hours (which is still great, for free!).

In the settings area for the app and your account includes device updating, sharing the device with others, the Toucan store and your album of manual recordings and photos. It also includes anything else you might need like technical support etc.

    —-General—-

The recorded picture quality is VERY clear and HD.
The picture you get on the live view will depend on your internet and the connection of the camera, but the recordings will always be crystal clear.
The voice the camera projects is very clear, I’ve had cameras in the past where the voice is so muffled it’s hard to tell what it’s saying. This one has a very good outgoing speaker, which transmits its own and *your* voice very clearly.

One of the biggest downsides to this camera is the lack of zoom/it’s limited depth. If I have this on my property wall, it can’t read the number plate of the vehicle directly across the road from me. That information could be very useful when reporting break-ins, theft, etc. This isn’t uncommon, other cameras I’ve tried have all been the same. It simply can’t see far enough for that purpose – it’s much better suited for monitoring close to the house and people detection.

This camera lights up our whole garden at night! It’s excellent, as is the night vision which is very clear. When the camera switches to night vision, there is an audible click – however I find this to be very quiet compared to other cameras I’ve tried.

I haven’t had this installed yet because it needs mains power and therefore an electrician but I have to do the review so I’m basing it in the overall quality of the unit.
I have lots of battery powered cctv units already and they don’t need charging all that often. The only thing that’s different is that it has a floodlight too.
The plastic and build quality feels very good but it should do for the price. The instructions are clear and you need to run cable plus fix the camera up with screws.
Once it’s installed I’ll update about picture quality etc.

Overall this is a well built CCTV camera with lots of unique function which are easy to use with the smart phone app. The spot light is nice and bright and it can be a substitute for security flood lights.

    Positives:

2 way audio is loud and clear, press button on phone to activate

4 preset recorded message telling person infront of the camera “how can I help you” etc and 1 dog barking message 🙂

    Auto playback of welcome message

Security spot light can be schedule on and off with clock time and brightness adjustable via app

Smart phone app is well polished with step by step guide from installation to viewing live and recorded footage.

    Feature to be improved on

WiFi range is around 12m and dependent on your router and surrounding interference.

Limitation on free cloud function and no SD card option for local recording

1080p is average quality, recorded footage has high compression rate resulting in small file size (Good) but loss some details (bad)

Overall a good CCTV and a well known budget brand, I would recommend this product to anyone who not had experience with DIY CCTV.

Ideal for anyone new to DIY CCTV install

I recently purchased the TOUCAN outdoor floodlight security camera and I am very pleased with my purchase. The camera is easy to install and the plug-in power makes it even easier. The bright LED light is great for night vision and the radar motion detection is very accurate and also the led light is good to scary the bad guys. The two-way audio is clear and the 1080P HD video is qualitative. I also love that it works with Alexa and Google Home. The delivery was also very fast. I highly recommend this product.

This Toucan wireless mains camera is a solid piece of kit. All fixings are included and the power adapter has connectors for both UK and EU sockets. There are fixing screws and wall plugs for the bracket and also cable clips to tidy the power cable that comes from the camera.

The camera itself is a hefty product. About twice the size of other cameras I’ve seen and used on the market. You have the Wi-Fi aerial mounted on the back of the camera and also a mounting thread for the bracket on the back. Because of the size of the camera, the LED spotlight on the front is quite large as well. But because of the spotlight size, it gives off a lot of light. Underneath the light is the camera lens and sensors. The bracket, although discreet, is more than strong enough and the threaded holder is also strong.

Now onto the camera performance. This camera is only 1080p, but the image produced is acceptable, definitely good enough to identify faces in the footage. The setup of the camera on my network was very easy. Everything is done through the app, which is excellent. You setup an account, log into it and then detect your camera using the app. All very easy and literally took me around 15 minutes from start to finish. Once the app has installed your camera, which I did indoors for convenience, you have to install it onto the bracket, which yet again was a breeze. Very solid connection using their metal bracket. I was able to position it exactly where I wanted it. Even though my network is pretty reliable, I was concerned it was going to struggle to connect. But the networking hardware this camera has must be so good, that it connected very quickly and solidly, even though it was double the distance from the router compared to another camera I have. Great setup.

Going back to the images produced (video/image capture). I am really happy with the produced video and image capture of this security camera. Yes, if you zoom into your images captured, they are pretty grainy. If you view them fully on screen, they look good and you can identify faces, which is the main thing. Night vision is unbelievably good (even in complete darkness, see photos) and far better than using the provided floodlight. I assume the floodlight is more to frighten intruders off, than to help with the video/image capture. I thought a certain doorbell had good night vision, but this one far out performs that one’s night vision. Motion detection is decent and detected my movement generally 100%, but is very sensitive and picked up slight movement in trees and plants. You can use the detection zones, which has basic customisation which works well. You also have sensitivity settings, which work based on distance, I believe. You can set a limit to how long it records to 30, 60 or 90 seconds. I found the 90s definitely too long. But it makes for flexibility. The recording of motion does start a few seconds before you are detected, which is great. I think some cameras just start recording too late, and you end up missing the all-important stuff, but this one does a good job. There is a good selection of settings.

In summary, this camera has a lot of great features and works well in different areas. I would say the only negatives about it are, it’s pretty big, but the chunky spotlight doesn’t help. It doesn’t have an SD Card slot, but you get free subscription for viewing your video for 24 hours, not a lot but better than nothing. You can pay for longer access if you like. Other things, great night vision, good sound quality, great app, easy setup, plus many other features.

This is a quality security camera and floodlight.
The light is very bright and far reaching, it lights up my entire front drive.
The camera footage is extremely clear and the night vision is amazing.
We have it wired through the wall into our garage, it’s not rechargeable or solar so it will need to be hard wired.
It’s extremely easy to instal and set up, you do need to download an app which again is easy.
I’m very impressed with this floodlight security camera and would definitely recommend it.

This is honestly one of the easiest and qui kest security cameras I have ever set up. I think itntook longer to download the app to my phone than what it did to set up the camera.
I would say if I had to put a time on it. Set up took 2 minuits tops.
There is a qr code in instruction book to scan for app then I downloaded the toucan app from the play store. Then you just follow the instructions on the app to connect the camera.

The camera itself is a perfectly clear picture and sound. Even on a night still clear picture. Has a very big bright security light. And can even trigger a siren alarm to scare of intruders.
Has a motion sensor to start recording any movement. And the recording files save for 24 hours.
A notification is sent to my phone when it detects movement also.

Power cable is a good length but if you need it longer it comes with a super long extention cable.

    100% would recommend

This was sent for review two weeks after my Ring Spotlight Cam gave up shining its lights! It was fascinating to compare.

First, regarding quality: this camera is superbly well designed, made and indeed, packaged. It is an utter delight to receive and simple indeed to set up.

Second, image quality: superb, with a good wide angle view and a superbly bright light that makes night vision just perfect. Really this is much brighter than what we have been used to and acts much like a useful garden light as much as a security light. It’s excellent.

Once we get back from holiday, I shall be able to test it fully and update the review with images to show it in action.

    This feels dated.
First it’s 2.4 GHz why not 5Ghz (OK 2.4 has better range but the 5Ghz would support a better picture)
Second if you have to run power to this then why not run Power Over Ethernet and use a network cable back to the hub? Faster speeds and if you’re making holes in the wall then use Ethernet.

Functionally the picture quality is OK but it could be better. The lighting and siren etc. is OK. I guess for the price it’s not bad but I can’t help feeling there are better ways to get the same effect.

This security camera is just simply great. Me and my husband installed it at the front of our house. Very simple to set up. The app is great too.
Image and video quality is superb, even the night vision is briliant.
Was one of the easiest camera set ups, no glitches, works just perfectly as you could except.
I also love the desing of it, not an ugly looking at all, very stylish.
It does need to plugged in, we used an outdoor plug that we have on the side of the house. Good lenght cable.
    Overall, i do recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the better ones out there

The floodlight on this camera is really good and lights up my whole garden which inturn makes the footage much better quality, the footage from this is cloud storage based which I think is more secure, the build quality is great and the wifi range very good too, it is wired so you do need to run one small wire through the wall but apart from that fitting is simple too, overall very happy with this, good quality images and a great floodlight.
