I’m surprised how adding these 2 have increased the network strength across the whole house. I have in total 5 and there are definitely no more low or dead areas.
Bought as a way of resolving coverage in a 1960s house that we added automation to. Now all the CCTV and smart plugs / switches work without issue. Setup is child’s play and so far speed and reliability are fantastic
I’ve had a variety of wi-fi products to extend the range of the router, either Virgin Media, or Sky, over the years and none have really worked that well.
However the Deco S7s appear to solve the problem, I have glitch free wi-fi throughout the house. Living in a 30’s ex council house I did need 4, and will maybe buy another 2, to get a good signal in key rooms. I’ve not played around with locations to see if I can get a bigger range.
One gripe, the power supply cables are a bit short and limit where you can place the individual units.
Just works, all round an old farmhouse with 2 foot thick stone walls.
Added 2 of these to an older Decco network. Made one the main unit and connected to my Virgin router which is in modem mode. Immediate and significant boost to what was an already excellent mesh system.
Easy and quick setup. The app initially couldn’t find my 2nd Deco router. I had to kill the app and tried again.
The gigabit ethernet cable included works great.
The size of router is bigger than I thought.
I have had an RBK20 and RBS20 for a while now and the coverage is ok, could be better. My ring Doorbell for example, was always on weak signal as it struggled to pass through the outside wall. These are much better, the doorbell is now on fair signal and much quicker to respond, I also have enough throughput on these to use my Meta Quest 2 Wirelessly when downstairs, my pc sits upstairs wired straight to the X50 Router. They have twice the bandwidth of the orbis despite the orbi’s have a dedicated back haul. The app doesn’t have as many tools as the Orbi app but its clean and works well.
As an added bonus when we lost the Internet the other day due to some kind of work being done, I could still control my TP-Link Smart plugs and bulbs offline!
Fantastic. Has totally eradicated WiFi dead spots in my house.
I’m with Virgin and their wi-fi is absolutely dreadful it hardly reaches the bedrooms, so I thought I’d invest in a mesh system and what a difference it makes.
Very easy to setup but I would advise to put the virgin router in modem mode first. Then download the deco app, and follow the instructions, very very easy to do and you’ll be up and running in 10 minutes.
Also if the virgin router is in modem mode then you can only use the first ethernet port ( plug your deco in there) so you need a 5 port gigabit ethernet switch, that also plugs into your Deco and then you can connect your TV/ virgin box etc via ethernet to the switch and your ready to go.
WiFi now reaches all over the house with a strong signal
Money well spent and highly recommended
Very complicated to set up. But great when up and running.
Deco x50 is amazing product it does help you achieve good signal.
I bought the 2-pack for my house and no one has ever complained about the loss of Wifi.
It has good materials, a great application and very easy to use, and best of all it doesn’t lose signal or lose internet so it is very reliable.
With the application you can configure absolutely everything and see which devices are connected.
You can automatically connect from one deco to the other without noticing it.
The most important thing is that there is no need to configure anything in the Router (BT), I connected it with an ethernet cable and enabled the access point option and I have not had any problem.
I had been struggling with inconsistent Wi-Fi from my provider, Virgin Media, with frequent lag spikes, high ping in online games, and fluctuating download speeds. But all that changed when I decided to give the TP-Link Mesh system a try. The setup process was incredibly easy, thanks to the user-friendly app.
Ever since installation, my Wi-Fi experience has been completely transformed. My download speeds have been consistently fast, never dropping below 100Mbps (which is impressive since I only pay for 125Mbps). Gaming online is now a smooth and lag-free experience, even with other family members streaming videos or using the internet simultaneously.
Overall, I highly recommend the TP-Link Mesh system to anyone looking to extend and stabilize their Wi-Fi coverage. This system is a game-changer, and it is undoubtedly the solution to inconsistent Wi-Fi.
Einfache Einrichtung. Top Gert WLAN ist so hervorragend stark, besser geht’s nicht.
So this device works fantastic. I live in an old home with solid walls where my WiFi couldn’t reach other rooms, but this thing is perfect and the signal is now great throughout the house.
It basically sets up a new Internet for you, and love the fact that you can also create guest WiFi too.
My only issue is that you cannot easily change the main hub device through your app unless the main hub is connecting. You’d think this wouldn’t be a problem but my main hub device blew up (possibly as a result of lightening strike) and as a result, I couldn’t use the Internet, nor could I change the main hub to another device. I don’t think the manufacturers thought this through very well. Luckily, I found a random guy repaired it to the point of turning on at least. From here I was able to then get the Internet settings to change the devices to a new main hub. Such hassle, I really hope they fix this and think of a solution in case of equipment failure in the future
They were bigger than expected.. like two tins of beans stacked up.
The situation at my property was dire. Big thick Edwardian walls, A virgin media customer. No in- wall plug points spare in the house. So the plug-in extenders did zero. The whole house was 0 WiFi except the room where the modem is.
Until now. The virgin engineer recommended these babies.
Considered that the house is over 5 bedrooms, the deco pair work great.
It is very very easy to set up via the app, you download to your phone.
All rooms are now 80% strength only dropping to 45% when venturing into the garage.
Compared to what it was,I’ll accept that.
What a shame they are so expensive though.
I purchased this as I have Virgin wifi at home, really fast but the connection from their Hub is poor in some areas of my home.
Installed the TP Link system easily. Very quick and easy set up. We have one of the routers placed in our living room and the second in the spare bedroom/office – opposite ends of the house and the connection of the mesh network is very strong, I’m getting the same speed across the entire house so very happy with that. The signal upstairs with the standard Virgin router would consistently drop out, no longer having this. We’ve got a strong connection absolutely everywhere.
The routers themselves are surprisingly compact – my parents have an older TP Link Deco system and these routers are notably smaller.
Overall very happy, would recommend these in a heartbeat to anyone.
I have Virgin broadband which is fast, however the Wi-Fi connectivity on the router is poor. I’ve only connected one of the pair as it covers the whole house far better than the existing router. Getting 80mbps in tour attic room. Web pages are loading so much faster on my phone. Super easy to set up as the app walks you through it. Even better that I got it for 75 on a Black Friday deal.
Replaced terrible sky Q router and tv boxes with this now supplying WiF, no more spinning rings, and WiFi perfect throughout house as well as outside all my WiFi enabled devices now work trouble free after five years of sky Q WiFi hassles
I’m giving it a review only 4 days in by my own accord. That’s how much I like it. i have them connected by ethernet because i have two storeys to cover. I love the app, makes it simple to connect and manage. I have never had a mesh system before and I’m delighted with this one. Also much much cheaper than the rest I had checked. I hope its durable.
Deco app makes light work of setup. Device Web page is limited to firmware upgrade. Fantastic signal strength, speed and stability. No Vlan function In AP mode. Tp link omada system has more advanced functionality if needed.
This will literally make your WiFi fly very easy to setup extremely fast consistent speeds throughout your home
I love the cost of value for this product, highly recommended to get the latest mesh wifi.
After a couple of years with signals dropping and nodes connecting in weird ways with my Linksys Velop system, I decided to give the TP-Link Deco range a go. So far so good. It’s given me great connection speeds and hasn’t needed me to reboot the system to get nodes to reconfigure their connections!
The real test will be after the next power cut and if they can reconnect without requiring all nodes to be rebooted!
It was really easy to set up. App walks you through everything and the Decos detected each other immediately. Used it with a Virgin Hub 3. I used to get 20mbps download downstairs (200mbps from router upstairs) with a wifi extender. The Decos now give me 175mbps to 215mbps everywhere in my house!
Brilliant! These were recommended by our Virgin media installer. We have a computer and Alexa down the garden in a garden building. Plus we use our phones down there. We had just switched from Sky and always had internet problems as well as reach issues. We’d used a 10 year old TP Link plug socket, mid-way down tbe garden in a waterproof box. But this always struggled. BUT the new Deco M4 pair are fantastic! They create an internet ‘mesh’ of a certain circumference of the router, which up to 100 devices can be operated from. This gives us a really strong signal in our cabin, 30 meters from house, 50metres from router. You need the ‘twin’ pack (not single). One plugs into the router’s Ethernet and another just into a mains socket around the house. Fiddled around a bit with set up, but 20mins and was sorted. This also gives a second wi-fi channel to your standard provider and offers a good user interface app.
We have 500mb broadband in a victorian 3 bedroom, 2 story terraced property. Using our existing Virgin Media superhub 3 we struggle to get decent wifi coverage in the bedroom at the front of the house and the bedroom at the rear of the house. Streaming services would frequently disconnect and buffer.
This solved the problem and we are how getting about 350mb speeds in the bedrooms with a 2 node set up (one connected to the superhub, with the superhub set up as modem only and the other node in the front bedroom).
It was extremely easy to set up. Even though the prices have dropped in recent months it still feels a little overpriced, though longterm it will be worth it. The only thing were disappointed with is the parental controls. I had read somewhere that this was free. Turns out only the basic mode is free and the advanced mode is 5.99 a month. For this you get very little more – pretty much the ability to set different ‘bed times’ for kids profiles on different days whereas with the free version you can only set one bed time for the entire week. We were also disappointed with the general functionality and options. We had hoped that we would be able to set different off times or bedtimes for each device connected to the childs profile. So for example you could set it so a child kind connect their laptop or xbox or phone to the internet after 8pm but the TV could be set to disconnect at 9pm so we could stagger the usage times of different devices, hower the bedtime/off time will apply to all devices on the profile. We’re not sure this justifies an additional 5.99 a month and will likely cancel after the free trial.
Super easy set up, took less than 5 minutes to have the first one set up with virgin media home hub 3 set to modem mode. Open box, scan QR code to download the app then follow the on screen instructions for your particular model.
My house has brick interior walls and as such my wifi is majorly dampened. I have tried several routers before dipping into mesh systems as they were so expensive. Got this on sale for 140 but even at its full price it is worth every penny. Must have for solid walls and lots of device connections. Finally getting the speeds I’m paying for!
These mesh network devices are certainly built to a price, but observe that price. They are cheap! Some mesh network basic setups can cost more than 300. These are less than 100 to get you started.
I was using a router and access points for my smart home (laptops, pc’s, Amazon echo’s, tablets, wi-fi plugs, light bulbs etc.) I found that my router just could not cope with the load and kept crashing. So I upgraded my router and this one did not crash, but it would not let me overload it with more than 50 devices.
So I got 2 deco E2 mesh points to add to my home network. To start I used my routers wi-fi, the mesh wi-fi and an access point. Things were complex. Long story short I now have a router with the wi-fi turned off and 4 E2 mesh nodes.
I easily have more than 100 devices in total, but they are not all on at once. I don’t have a great internet connection as I am at the end of my line (the engineer tells me). I get 42Mb down and 6Mb up. I am able to run loads of devices at the same time including multiple HD wi-fi cameras (love watching the wildlife). We watch all of our TV via BBC iplayer, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc.
These mesh nodes are designed to be simple, but the instructions are useless. First very important thing you need to know is that the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels are the same name and you cannot change them to individual names. Why is this important you may ask. Try adding a 2.4Ghz smart home device when the device you are using (tablet or smartphone) is on the 5Ghz channel. It wont work but it wont tell you that. You will get prompts to say you need to be on 2.4, but it wont say “hey you are on the 5Ghz donkey”. The only easy way to solve this issue is that when you are trying to add 2.4Ghz devices, turn off the 5Ghz network from the app. Now turn off your smart phone or tables wi-fi, then reconnect. It should now default to 2.4Ghz. Now you can easily connect all your smart home tech. Once complete turn the 5Ghz back on.
Trick number 2, get all devices that can use the 5Ghz side of things using it. Go back to the app and turn off the 2.4Ghz network. Go round all your devices that can use the 5Ghz network and confirm they are on it. If not set them up. Note, most amazon echo’s can use the 5Ghz network, so if they are close enough, use it. Once this is all done, turn the 2.4Ghz network back on.
So that should be pretty much everything connected without to much bother, once you know how.
Last point, I notice that quite a few people have moaned about the 100Mb ethernet connection. They are also concerned that if they have faster than a 100Mb internet connection that it will be waisted. 2 Things to note, first you don’t need to use the ethernet ports to connect the mesh points to each other, they can work wirelessly. Although mine are hard wired using cat 5e ethernet cable.
Secondly the measurement of broad band is measured in Megabits per second, your ethernet is measured in Megabytes per second. Megabytes carry 8 times the amount of data that megabits do.
So bottom line, the single wi-fi name is a pain in my mind, but not a major issue. If the ethernet speed is too slow then get the M4 version and pay a bit more. I have the E4 units and I am very happy with them.
So would I recommend or buy again, if you are on a tight budget yes, if you can afford to splash out have a look at the M4, S4 or P9 (no comment from me on these as I don’t own any of them).
