Surprisingly effective. If you use a bit of force it really does the job.
But do remember to push the tyre into the well of the wheel to ease the process (for any tyre lever).

This is a quality product, and does exactly what it says on the tin. Have changed around Four tyres using since I bought it and it was far easier than any previous experience

Whilst my super tight tyres still required a lot of brut force, these made an almost impossible task with conventional tyre levers possible. And much less risk of pinching an inner-tube. I highly recommend.

This is an amazing tool, well for me it is amazing. I struggled to remove the tyre from the rim to fix a puncture and the same to replace the tyre on the rim. This makes it so much easier. It stop the chance of pinching the new tube when getting the tyre back on the rim. If you aren’t sure about this watch the Youtube vids first. It really is as easy as the vids show. Defo recommend.

Its flimsy to use as its palm length, if your changing 10″ tyres.. forget it!

This is great for cycles and soft rubber tyres but anything that has resistance makes this tool painful to use 🙁

Actually bought this in error – thought I’d pressed the button for a pack of 3 Shwalbe levers and a puncture kit but there u go. Couldn’t get the Big Ben tyre off my e bike with my usual lever and initially couldn’t even get the lip of this tool under the bead because of the depth of the rim (EX 32 running 28 x 2.25’s). A quick Google on You Tube showed me the trick of squeezing the tyre bead all the way round the rim, then it was a doddle to hook it off the rim and just as easy to reverse the tool to reseat it. In short – it works!

I have changed many tyres over the years, fought with some of them, nothing has come close to the ease that the Tyre Monkey removes and replaces your tyre.

Not sure why, but this is infinitely easier than anything else. Finally I’m not pinching the inner tube and can get the tyre on and off by myself, in a reasonable time. Don’t hesitate to buy this.

Good design. But still not enough on it’s own for some stiff tyres. Really helpful getting then off. But failed to get it back on by sliding it round.

On most tyres this tool does a remarkably good job of both removing and replacing the tyre. Once you get the first bit of the tyre over the rim the tool does a good job of then removing it really quickly and easily. The main problem arises trying to get the tool under the rim of a really tight tyre but thankfully in my cycling world (MTB) these are few and far betwee

This is a small but surprisingly strong tyre lever that works with most bike tyres. It is good for not pinching the tube and has a useful notch in it that’s great for working round the edge bead of the tyre when taking it off the rim. It’s handy for just carrying in your bike pack and it is compact and lightweight. Overall 10 out of 10.

I hate changing tyres/ repairing punctures as I have always struggled with tyre levers when it comes to the last bit of the tyre that never wants to go on. When I saw the advert for this I was sceptical as it just looked too easy but it really is! I had to repair a puncture yesterday and it took me 5 seconds to put the tyre back on, one of the best bike tools that I’ve bought!

This is a massive tyre lever, the idea being that you only need one of these, rather than 2 or 3 of the usual kind. It works, and although it doesn’t look like it will last, it hasn’t broken so far and feels quite solid.

Fixed my first puncture some 40 years ago and nothing much has changed since then except for slime and tubeless tyres. I was sceptical about this tyre lever seeing as there must have been oodles of similar devices dreamt up by now. I usually only use two and even one tyre lever anyway so this could be worth a go I thought. It’s a bit brutal removing a tight tyre (but no more than three levers) and a dream to run a tyre back onto the rim. I’ve had to fix/replace four tubes recently and I found myself going straight for this instead of my usual trusty lever set. I can highly recommend one of these, especially if you like to travel light with minimal tools. It’s one of those things I might buy a second one in case I ever lose this one and they aren’t available any more.

If you’re tired of fumbling with frustrating, traditional tyre levers this could be for you. This compact, UK-designed tool allows for easy tyre removal and refitting with minimal effort and no more knuckle-banging. It’s a bit pricey for what you actually get, but I don’t mind paying for the innovation – for simplicity and the hassle it saves, it’s worth it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHaving cycles and a motorcycle, I am already familiar with Tru-Tension and their range of products. However, this is a new offering from them and on seeing it was intrigued by its design and also whether it really would be any better than the usual tyre levers that are on the market.

Well wonder no more, this is a piece of engineering marvel and am so glad that I have it in my toolkit. Compared to the smaller, hook levers that we have all been using, this is on a whole new level.
You might argue that 10 for a bit of plastic is a bit much, but in all honesty, this really is money well spent. On both the design and rigidness front, this is made to last and makes getting a tyre off your bike wheel effortless. I hope from the video that you can see that it really does enable you to get a tyre on and off the rims in no time at all and without using any real amount of elbow grease. This lever literally glides all the way around the rim of the wheel and does not get stuck half way round like conventional ones and in addition, due to this one being more sturdy and thicker than the other type, it powers through, where others are more fiddly to hold and manoeuvre.

You only need this one tool, rather than the usual 3 that you get with the conventional levers and will sit in your bike pack or pocket and will take up next to no room.

This is a really innovative product and I will definitely be using this from now on, no more flimsy levers to get frustrated with. Well done Tru-Tension on designing a great piece of kit to help you get back on the road in no time. 100% recommend this to all cyclists, you won’t regret purchasing this.

A couple of days after receiving this tyre lever I got my first puncture in over a year. A bit of a coincidence.

At least I had a reason to put this tool to use. I was a bit sceptical at first as I’ve always used a pair of the normal tyre levers and never really thought there could be any alternative but was I wrong? This tool is great. It makes removing the tyre so easy, the most difficult bit is getting it hooked under the wall of the tyre but once that’s done it’s just a case of pushing it down and sliding it around the rim and the tyre just pops off.

Putting a tyre back on is usually more of a problem but, again, with this tool it was so easy. Once you have it hooked over the rim it is just a case of sliding it around to where you started. Admittedly the last bit takes quite a bit of effort but it was the easiest I have ever experienced.

It is light and small so you can just slip it into your pocket or a small pouch on the bike. I can’t recommend this highly enough.

This is a handy little tyre lever that means you only need a single lever instead of the usual two or three. It works well. There are two sides to the lever, one for taking tyres off and one for putting them back on.
To take off, you just lever the bead up as you normally would, and then you can just slide the lever around the rim and pop the tyre off. To put it back on, you do the same thing in reverse using the other side of the lever. It’s not very intuistive and you will need to watch the youtube instructions on how to use it, but once you’ve done that its very quick and easy to use.

It’s a great little item that takes up less space in your saddlebag, and you don’t have the eternal annoyance of losing one of your tyre-lever pair.

The lever is made from very robust plastic and should last years. It’s a really nice little design and a useful widget. Great item.

This is a chunky piece of kit and in theory, it should work on its own. By and large, it does, although I’m still searching for a second lever by way of routine.
Once you do get used to it (search video sharing platforms for instructions) you will find it to be super useful, although slightly pricey.
A good sturdy and strong lever that will not break under ordinary use.

I’ve just used this to take a tyre off my partner’s bike. It’s a bog standard hybrid bike with fairly ordinary tyres but I see no reason why this shouldn’t work on the majority of tyres/wheels. I found taking the tyre off not that easy. Rather getting the process started was less easy. However once I’d created a small gap to get this in (using my 2 usual tyre levers) this finished the job very easily indeed and probably better than would have been the case with the conventional levers. So far so good.

Getting the tyre back on using this was excellent frankly and waay easier than the usual tyre levers. It was on securely in seconds. This is a tough plastic lever and should last a fair while. At a tenner the price would be “OK” to me. Personally I’d still take the usual levers with me but this does finish both removal and putting on the tyre very easily. A useful addition to bike tool kit – 4.5/5

    Pros:
    – First thing, this really does work! I have quite tight tyres on my road bike, and this thing took them off with no issues. Easily took the tyres of my other bikes including my MTB.
    – I’ve always used 2 (quality) tyre levers to take my tyres off, however using just this one tyre lever is actually easier.

    Cons:
    – My only worry is how durable this may be. It feels solid, however the lip to help you get the tyre back on is small in order to do it’s job (see first picture). I am not sure how many tyre changes the lever will take before this lip wears down so it no longer functions. May never happen, but I thought it was noteworthy to mention as there is potential.

This has replaced my 2 tyre levers in my saddle bag.

I hope you find this review helpful.

This could be a game changer!

My husband and son tried this lever and initially couldnt seem to make it work but after they worked out how it was really easy and my 11-year-old son could do it on his own. It took less than a minute to take tyre off on one side and then replace it again. He now has the lever in his mini kit and I’m confident he could use it on his own and I’m likely to buy spares given how easy it was to use. The inside of the lever also has a small protrusion to allow you to depress the valve to deflate it.

  34. Anonymous says:

The Tyre Monkey Tyre Lever may seem odd at first, as it’s supplied as a single item, whereas I typically buy levels in packs of 2 or even 3. The reasoning here is this single level does effectively the same job as a pair of levers. To get the best idea of how this lever should be used, I recommend looking on popular video sharing platforms, there are very useful demonstration videos available.

The lever itself is chunky and robust, with the novel shape making tyre removal and re-fitting that little bit easier. It does work well, though I do find myself still reaching for a second level or being disappointed I can’t secure this one around a spoke (you don’t need to but it’s a habit). While it is made from plastic it’s very strong and I can’t see it breaking under normal use.

It is a bit pricey when compared against sets of multiple levers, but when you consider this replaces a full set on its own, it’s not so bad.

    Replaces a set of levers

  35. Nickolas7799 says:

This is a lever with lips, designed to slip a tire in and out of the rim with only one lever, just by sliding it in and then running it along the rim.
It was not obvious to e how to use it, however googling for Tyre Monky Lever will lead to a video from the producer which is extremely clear.

Essentially one needs to deflate the tire entirely, then insert the lever under the tire lip. The best place to start is the section of the tire opposite to the valve. Then one can rotate the wheel while pushing the lever forward, it has a lip which will ride on the wheel rim puling out the tire easily.
Putting it back after repairing is similar, the other side of the lever is shaped so it will glide on the inside of the rim pushing back the tire lip in quite effortlessly.

It works, at least with my city bike tyre, and it is more practical and quicker than using two levers.
It is hard plastic, apparently engineered to fail if one puts too much pressure on it, so there is no chance to damage the rim.

Changing a bike type is never an ‘easy’ job and I am used to doing this with either the little black plastic levers or the metal ones that always seem to snag. Well I was a little apprehensive considering it was 9.99 at the time of this review, but I must say I was nicely surprised, the tool easily lifted the tire to the out side of the the rim, and slid round much easier than any tother tool I had used in the past. For me its one less thing to carry (single tool replacing two tyre levers) and not only is is easier to use but also a lot quicker, win-win in my book.

One less tool, quicker and easier.

As a keen mountain biker and trails rider, punctures are something I have to contend with on a weekly basis. I haven’t ever really found anything that completely stops punctures but being able to fix them as easily as possible is the next best thing.

This tire level surprised me, I own metal ones that make removing the tire easy but they tend to scratch or dent your rim edge so they are a last resort. Plastic ones are usually on but I have broken so many of them when removing tires that I have resorted to using 4 or 5 just so I can space out the tension so they won’t snap as easily.

I’ve only used the Tyre Monkey once so far and this was for a complete tire change. Surprisingly, this didn’t have any flex to it, didn’t feel like it was close to snapping and I only had to use the one tool. Once the tyre was partly off, there was enough of a gap to get my fingers inside and get the rest of it taken off.

Although this one is plastic too, it’s showed me that not all tools are created equal and through better types of plastics, one lightweight tool can get the job done without damaging your bike rims.

This is mine that’s staying firmly in my bike pack up with my puncture repair kit for when I need it.

5 stars for this one but honestly if I could give it more, I would.

A super tough tyre lever which does what it’s supposed to, without the need for several levers (or octopus hands!). It’s very rigid, which might worry me if using on carbon rims – I prefer to use the Park Tool levers for that as they have a bit of flex to them. I like that it’s quite small too so won’t take up much room in the saddle bag. A tenner for a tyre lever might sound a bit steep, but if it works, then it’s justifiable in my opinion.

I really like this tyre lever. It is robust and well-made, in a nice bright orange, that is easy to see. The packaging is just a piece of card, so therefore very minimal. Comprehensive instructions are available by scanning a QR code, but it is quite intuitive to use anyway. It really does cut down on the time to change a tyre, and I like the fact you only need the one tool.

At the time of writing the review, the cost is 9.99, which initially feels quite expensive, but now I’ve used it, I think it’s worth every penny.

  40. CandraBonet says:

     United Kingdom

The idea is simple enough, to take a tyre off just slip the hooked end under the the bead pull it against the rim and push the lever round, not much unlike you can do with a normal tyre lever and the tyre slips over the rim, the tyre I tried this on was a wide MTB tyre, the problem I found was actually hooking the lever under the edge of the tyre, well not so much a problem with this tyre as I had room to push the tyre inwards far enough to get the hook under, I did think would this work so well on a thinner tyre that might be a tight fit and not much room to press it inwards and get this lever under the edge, as it happens with the tyre I used I can remove and refit it with just my hands, so the lever did not have to work that hard.
Refitting again is a simple process of turning the lever and placing the rim in the groove so it pushes against the tyre, then just push the lever round the rim and on goes the tyre, it worked rather well but again the tyre I used is not a tight fitting tyre.
I like the idea but curious to see how well it works on a road bike clincher tyre, I just have this feeling that getting the hooked end under the edge of the tyre might be a problem, but I have not tried so can not really say, at least for wider tyres this works quite well.

    Seems To Work OK

Changing tyres or tubes is one of those annoying jobs. If you do it often, get yourself a tool to help. It ends up saving you time, effort and frustration.

I was surprised this tool was 9.99 for what is essentially a piece of reinforced plastic. It does seem a little overpriced, even though it works well. It’s a well made reinforced plastic tool too I suppose.

I like the minimalist packaging. It has simple instructions on the rear because it only needs simple instructions to use it. A bit of a no-brainer in use. There is a QR code for an online video demonstration. Whilst it feels sturdy enough, they say it’s designed to break before it might cause damage to your rim from incorrect usage. That’s actually a nice feature if true.

End of story is that it makes a tedious job easier, especially if out on a trail or roadside. In that circumstance I’d say it was worth it.

Often repairing a puncture can become frustrating, especially if you only have one tyre lever to hand. This little helper really is a useful accessory. First of all, you only need the one in order to remove a tyre and not the usual two. Secondly, it really is quite simple to use – excellent design – quick too.

For the money this is a must have for anyone who is really into their bikes.

Anyone who’s replaced an inner tube or a tyre with a standard set of tyre levers would probably be pleased for anything that makes this process easier. I checked out this Tyre Monkey tool to see if it could be it.

The tool itself is lightweight but feels pretty sturdy which is good given that you’ll need to put some force through it. The way the tool works is quite similar to tyre levers but instead of having several in different places and then removing the tyre you hook this over the rim and then run it round to take it off. Putting it back on is a similar process but in reverse.

While this is a simple tool the grooves are well placed to make this process easier. After a bit of practice I can see this as a good alternative to standard tyre levers. There is also a shaped hole in the tool to help remove a valve if required.

Overall then this is well made and a potential easier option for a fiddly job.

There are a few variations of the tyre wrench out there similar to this tyre monkey – the muc-off one is very popular and half the price.
However, this one seems to do the job fine. It’s good solid plastic – minimal packaging which is great.
Instructions are accessed by scanning a 2d barcode only – so be sure to have checked them out or practiced before heading off road and off grid.
