I read numerous reviews on this lens but I was determined not to write a word about it until I received it and tested it. Well it arrived today and my first thought was that I hope TT artisan makes more models. This thing is sharp, it’s of high quality, it’s not lightning fast but splitting hairs is unnecessary. It’s certainly fast enough. I see that TT artisan is going to make a full frame camera. I’m chomping at the bit for more information on it. This lens was a home run.

This worked on my XM1 and XT20 with no issues. Focus is reasonably quick. Nice to have aperture ring on a budget lens. Only downside: the firmware update for the lens can only be done on a Windows computer. TT Artisans website says that Macs are not supporteddisappointing.

The lens is great for portability and image quality.
Focus is sharp, F2.8 produces great images on a wide range of lighting conditions.
It has 2 noticeable weak points that have been mentioned by other reviewers as well.
    1. Vignetting in low light.
    2. Flare effects.
Example of both in the picture attached.

Still, for this price is a great lens. I like it.

    Great lens for the price

The only thing that surprised me about this lens is how small the lens cap/filter diameter is. That information is available on the product page, I just didn’t make the connection. You most likely don’t have filters in the right diameter, just a heads up. Also recommend getting a lens cap leash because you will lose this thing.

Does everything it’s supposed to: good, fast auto focus, excellent image quality between 4-11mm. It’s updateable, well built and a very good price.

After watching early reviews and checking out a Fuji 27mm lens I thought I would give this a try. I purchased a used X-E1 to use as a travel camera. Already have an XT-2 and had a spare cheap manual focus lens to use on the X-E1. After playing with the manual lens decided I wanted an auto-focus lens for the X-E1. Not wanting to spend more on a lens than on the used camera I pulled the trigger and ordered the TTArtisan. I have not had too many chances to get out with the camera due to holidays and weather in the Great Lakes region but the photos taken have been very acceptable overall. I did not notice any major vignetting at f2.8 as some have stated. Works in manual and auto modes, autofocus speed is quick enough. The aperture ring may take some getting used to. Overall the build quality is good, it is slightly larger than the Fuji 27mm but for 1/2 the price I feel it was a good choice.

The performance of the lens is good, maybe not as good as a major brand, but to my eye honestly there’s no appreciable difference. The lens is not bulky which means that I can keep my Fujifilm X-2 in a jacket pocket and have it always ready to use. The only downside, a minor one, is that the lens cap is fiddly to take off quickly. For the price it is a remarkable bargain: it feels very solid, looks good, and does the job at a fraction of Fuji’s own lens.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve been debating about a new prime lens for my Fuji cameras for a while now, but what focal length, to choose: 23mm, or 27mm? There are many choices of manual focus lenses for the Fuji X mount, but I like my auto focus lenses. When I found that TT Artisans had produced a compact 27mm auto focus lens at an affordable price, I bought it as soon as it became available.

Let’s get the negatives out of the way first, it doesn’t handle flare very well, the aperture ring can be fiddly as there are only two knurled places to adjust the aperture, and the lens is not waterproof. All very minor irritations, simply overcome, don’t take the lens out in the rain, or point it at the sun!!

The lens itself is compact, lightweight, and the build quality is of a decent all metal construction. Being as tiny as it is the lens is ideal for the smaller Fuji bodies, the X-A10, X-E1, 2, 3, 4, and the X-T10, 20, 30 for use as a street, or travel lens. I wanted the lens for my Fuji X-T20, to be used as a “walk about” travel lens, the 27mm focal length equates to approximately 40mm in full frame terms.

Performance wise the lens offers very good image quality, just look at the detail on the quayside mooring bollard, this is a JPEG image shot wide open at f/2.8. The ornamental bird taken again wide open at f/2.8, ISO 1000 indoors, without flash, and the bokeh is fine. The auto focus is marginally slower than some of my other “fast” Fuji primes, but the face / eye detect seems to work well.

The front lens cap is very tiny, easy to lose, however the rear lens cap has contacts, and a USB-C port to enable updating the lens, what a great idea.

The lens is an absolute gem, a real bargain at the price, and I am very pleased with the performance. Definitely recommended, well done TT Artisans.

    Fantastic walkaround lens

I chose this lens because it seemed like an affordable alternative to Fuji’s pre-existing 27mm lenses.
To my surprise the lens performed quite well both in sharpness and accurate autofocus. The lens seems to be metal, well built, and has a cute lens hood for its small filter size. There’s a bit of vignetting on the edges wide open but nothing that can’t be fixed or worked around.
Overall I think the lens is well worth it, especially for the price point!

    Pleasantly Surprised

    Pros:
    1. VERY cheap lens
    2. Good build quality
    3. Swirly bokeh at f2.8 minimum focus, a somewhat unique character of this lens (did not attach photo of this effect)
    4. AF is whisper quiet

    Cons:
    1. Heavy vignetting at f2.8, gets better stopped down but doesn’t fully go away (if you’re pixel peeping or what not)
    2. Not the sharpest at f2.8 but bokeh is hella cool.
    3. Firmware update doesn’t work on Windows 11, yet*
    4. Aperture is noisier than the AF, bummer.
    5. Some flaring issues, just don’t aim directly at bright light sources open wide, or get a lens hood or whatever
    6. Sharp, but not perfect, YMMV

This lens is for people that are looking:
-for a fun lens to experiment with
-a cheaper, less noisy alternative to the XF27mm (the AF noise is unbearable on the XF, at least to me)
    -lightweight, walk-around travel lens

I meancome on, it’s like US$150~ Don’t expect some out of this world performance from this lens but if you can live with the imperfections, I’d say this is a pretty great lens. I’m having fun with it, and I hope you will too.

    4/5 stars.

    Lightweight, very usable images.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI was immediately struck by the sharpness and quality of images coming out of this lens. It’s just as sharp (that is to say, razor sharp) at f/2.8 as it is at f/8. Almost out-resolving the X-Trans 4 sensor in my X-T3, even. Color rendition is pleasing as well with no overt or noticeable color shifts. It doesn’t have the greatest minimum focus distance at 35cm, but thats only 1cm longer than its closest competition, the Fujifilm 27mm f/2.8. This TTArtisan 27mm certainly isn’t a bokeh beast considering its somewhat slow maximum aperture and far minimum focus distance, but if you shoot at MFD and wide-open you can get somewhat out of focus backgrounds with swirly, characteristic bokeh. Vignetting is also heavy, especially wide open. It becomes more subtle as you stop down but never fully disappears.

The lens is super small and light, and has a pretty decent feel in the hand. The aperture ring clicks nicely enough at every 1/3 stop and the focus ring offers an acceptable amount of resistance. Considering everything I mentioned, plus this lens’s metal build, you simply cannot go wrong picking one up for $160!

Best value autofocus lens for Fuji X mount, period.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWalked a local park late afternoon sun, pictures RAW + Fine (ACROS JPG) the black and whites looked like taken with a film camera, mostly shot wide open and it was soft, but acceptable. RAW files were easy to develop, LRC knew the lens and fixed most issues. The biggest issues was vignetting but only on the top corners (ODD). Stepped down to F8 or F11 and my copy of lens was sharp edge to edge. Then lens turned my XT-4 into almost a pocket camera, I really enjoy this lens at it’s limitations and price. Thanks TTartisan for making this lens auto focus. I also updated the firmware to the latest and it was easy to do.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe lens works as intended at least on my X-T3. I have the original 27mm f2.8 from Fuji and after waiting so long for the WR version, I found this to be a compelling lens at a great price. The TTArtisan version has quieter autofocus and has the aperture ring I missed on the original 27mm. The aperture ring is firmer than Fuji’s and doesn’t click as smoothly. The autofocus is fast and sharpness is very good. This 27mm also has a great firmware update system and I’ve already seen autofocus improvement going to 1.0.2.

One thing I still have yet to figure out on the lens is the vignetting. Fuji lens comes with automatic correction and it’s made the system much simpler to use. We can remove at post, but this is one reason I couldn’t make the rating the full 5 stars.

After seeing a couple of 1 star reviews I felt compelled to actually review the lens as it should have worked. I did get a warning from Pergear that there was a possibility that the lens may have been handled incorrectly during shipment. I did not need to reset my lens so it worked right out of the package.

After using this lens, I quickly sold the original Fuji 27mm for more than the cost of this lens. If you have that old lens, this is worth the price “upgrade”.

Lens works as advertised on X-T3

I have had many Fujifilm cameras and lenses. Currently with a GFX and a Xe4.

Wanted the 27mm 2.8 from fuji but didnt want to spend the money or the 320 for a used one. This came up and i thought i would give it a shot. So far it really has been great. For 150 bucks its a solid choice.

Lens wont win any “fast focus awards” but its not a slouch either.

If you are looking for a good 27mm 2.8 AUTOFOCUS i would suggest this.

Solid autofocus lens for 150 bucks
