If you’re interested to see if you’re water is clean enough depending on the location and where you live this kit is a nice test to see what you’re drinking.
Results were pretty consistent depending on location of drinking water sample.
Intresting bit of kit.
Not your usual day to day thing you need but nevertheless possibly a very useful thing. First off, if you have your own water supply knowing it’s condition is vital and maybe even a legal requirement. I do have quite a bit of experience of water testing as I used to be a Chief Engineer on ships and we made our own water for drinking and on board use. Clearly when you are making water for human consumption you need to be pretty careful about the end product so we tested for many things the main ones being bacteria and chlorine levels. Given how much time we spent testing it’s interesting to get a product that you can simply do this at home.
So, I did. Partially out of interest and partially because I do have carbon filters in place as well as a water softener so it’s interesting to find out if there’s anything dodgy. Thankfully not.
And of course it’s easy. Just dip the strips in the water and check the colours. The bacteria one requires you to take a clean sample and allow it to sit for a day or so to grow any microbes. Just make sure your hands are spotless or you use rubber gloves to avoid contaminating the sample.
Where this would also be useful is if you have concerns over things like lead pipework for instance. In fact a few days ago I did come across a house with lead piping which is a bit naughty. And, of course if you travel it’s nice to know the condition of the water where you are staying.
Overall, a very useful health product.
Good instructions, easy to use.
Hope it is accurate too.
I got these as am just curious about the water we drink. They are super easy to use and instructions are clear. It’s great if you want to testing the water you drink / take it abroad for a peace of mind. Would recommend
The Tespert water test kit has a useful selection of tests and the instructions are clear and easy to follow, if one is patient and careful.
It matters in what light one looks at the colours, normal clear daylight is essential for seeing the correct comparisons. LEDs and Fluorescents emphasise different colour densities depending on individual lamps!
The results correspond to those obtained with other makes of test kits we’ve used over the last few decades for drinking and fish-pond water. Charts in this kit have fewer graded steps per test than the older kits, but one can interpolate reasonably well, and in most cases only the extremes are significant enough for concern.
My main recent concern with our drinking water is bacterial contamination — hence trying this kit. I would have liked to see a few more of the relevant test kits included; two is not enough especially when doing the test for the first time and still on the learning curve.
I’ve ordered these water testing kits for drinking water as we don’t have the best quality water, it smells of the chlorine and is very ‘hard’.
My daughter and partner like to drink tap water, so I wanted to make sure that our water is good enough to drink witout boiling it.
It isn’t cheap set but contains 102 strips to test water to include some to test water for bacteria.
Strips are very easy and fast to use. They have 19 indicators. Results are almost immediate.
I would say that these strip tests are accurate as I have some different brand water test strips and results from both are very similar.
Great kit, must have at home to test drinking water from time to time.
If you’re bothered about the quality of drinking water (or even pool/spa water) these are a very simple and quick way to check a good many factors.
The usual dip, wait and compare to a colour chart, they are quite responsive and you’ll have easy to read results in seconds. I’ve tried on tap water, filtered tap water, even aquarium water and they seem to hold up to another set of test strips and a set for aquariums.
Certainly a nice check to see if the water from taps is OK (mainly when travelling abroad as an initial check) but also for the water from filter jugs and fridges to see if they are doing what they should, or more importantly, need a filter changing or cleaning as they are underperforming.
Not cheap, but 102 strips used carefully will last a long while. You don’t need to test too often in reality.
I recently received this water testing kit and have been extremely satisfied with its performance. The kit is comprehensive, including all the necessary tools to accurately test the pH, chlorine levels, and total alkalinity of my home’s water supply and much more.
The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and I appreciate that the kit includes a color-coded chart to easily interpret the results. The results have been consistent with my expectations and have given me peace of mind about the quality of my water.
I also appreciate that the kit includes enough materials for multiple tests, so I can continue to monitor the water quality on an ongoing basis.
Overall, I highly recommend this water testing kit to anyone in need of an accurate and reliable way to test their home’s water supply. It’s a great value for the price.
Overall an inclusive and easy water testing kit to use.
Instructions are given on the individual packs although some are poorly translated.
Locals had been complaining about our water lately as the water company had to temporarily change the supply so I thought it would be an ideal time to check the condition of the water and post the result on the local webpage.
I currently have a bacteria test waiting for 48hrs to see if anything develops. (there are two tests in the pack)
I also used the comprehensive test strip that checks 5 different main components.
This strip showed the water to be fine to drink, as we suspected. It is merely a harder water than we are used to and leaving deposits in kettles. It will be reverted back to the usual supply eventually but in the meantime this kit is reassuring.
There are also separate tests for the components and I will check those too when I get a moment.
All in a pretty easy and comprehensive ki
I must admit thinking just one test would check for all the possible issues listed when in reality there are nine different types of tests checking for 19 different issues.
I have no way of confirming the results are correct and they are “Made In China”.
If you care about your health and your water quality then these are a must have. Nice to be able to keep a track of water and take action if necessary
Most people wonder about the quality of their drinking/tap water and this kit will provide quite a lot of answers. It contains a small water container, big enough to accommodate the test strips, a little pipette to draw water out of the container for one of the tests, and resealable sachets containing the test strips for the different test. There are 9 different types of test for the following: Chlorine, minerals (such as lead, iron, copper, nickel and zinc), nitrate/nitrites, Ammonia nitrogen, Chloride, low range Chlorine and low range nitrites, Sulfate and bacteria. The tests are simple to carry out and each different sachet with the test strips tells you how to make the test. Most involve dipping the test strip into the water, waiting a few seconds and then comparing the colours on the strip with the colours of the relevant sachet. I carried out one of each of the tests and the results appeared to be consistent and accurate. Definitely worth having a pack of these if you are going somewhere where the water might be dodgy.
I drink so much tap water on a daily basis and this came up on vine for me to review, I was just intrigued to find out what the results would be, living in such a hard water area.
This is quite and extensive kit with many different water testing strips, all very quick & easy to do, directions are clear and within seconds you have the results.
I’m happy to find out that my tap water is better than I thought, just nice to know that our tap water is as it should be. Nice that you also have the added 2 tests for bacteria.
Would definitely recommend this testing ki
This isn’t a cheap kit, but it contains a wide selection of tests to check the quality of your water, whether it be your drinking water, water in your aquarium, or water in your pond or hot tub.
The tests are almost all extremely easy to use: just dip, wait a few seconds, and compare against the provided colour scales. The one exception is the bacteria test, which takes 48 hours before results can be viewed.
Some of the little sealed packages contain 25 individual tests, which lets you test regularly over quite a period of time or test samples from multiple sources. I tested water straight from my tap (left hand side in my photos), water from the filter in my fridge (middle), and water from the Brita filter in my kitchen sink (right hand strips in the photos). Interestingly, the only differences were with the Brita filter, which seems to have reduced the hardness, alkalinity and also the level of cyanuric acid in my drinking water. The fridge filter has not affected these.
Other packets only contain five strips rather than 25, and there are only two of the bacteria tests. More of those would have been nice so I can test my water from the tap and also from filters of different ages to see if older filters are starting to breed anything significantly!
The strips themselves are mostly plastic, so if you want to label them when testing more than one sample you’ll need a permanent marker as biros don’t work.
Found these really helpful for checking our tap water, which I’m pleased to say came out good.
Will use them late in the year on our pond as well.
A really nice set of water testing strips with a large variety of tests. There are two sets that test for 5 and 6 elements all together with 25 strips in each (I shan’t detail them as they are shown in the top set of pictures) and another 25 strips for Nitrate/nitrite. However, I was really disappointed in finding only two strips for bacteria and there doesn’t seem to be any similar test strips as a separate box at a reasonable price.
Nevertheless, this is a highly useful kit to have and at an excellent price for what it is. Very easy and quick to use.
These water testing strips are brilliant. Very simple to use. I done it one by one as each has different testing times.
Was always curious about our tap water. Most of the tests came negative, just couple was positive. Will have to research it what it means.
I do recommend it, if you are same as me, wondering what we drink.
Fairly easy to use, with a couple of gotchas. Each indicator has different instructions in terms of usage printed on the sachet. It would have been useful to have an instruction of which way up to hold the indicator against the results colour chart for each type of strip as it’s not always obvious – just for the record you need to hold it with the ‘handle’ part of the strip underneath rather than above – it might seem ‘obvious’ to an extent but it needs pointing out. There are one or two colour indicators on the various strips where the colour doesn’t obviously match a precise colour on the scale nor obviously lie between two of them and you have to do a bit of guessing based on a light/dark shade rather than hue, but mostly it’s fine.
I was curious to use these to test how effective a certain well-known brand (Br*ta) of water filter jug is at filtering tap water by comparing before and after – when you are paying a fair amount of money for these things it would be nice to have some proof of efficacy. These have shown that they are good at removing hardness, alkalinity and chlorine, but seem to be a bit disappointing at removing nitrates.
I was concerned about the water quality where I live as I know I live in a hard water area. To put my mind at ease, I got this water testing kit which was super easy to use. You simply just dip it into water for 2 seconds, remove and hold it horizontally for 15 seconds and then read the results by comparing it to the colour chart. As simple as that!
Thankfully, the results weren’t as bad as I thought they would be. My tap water is still safe for everyday use and is drinkable although I prefer to still buy mineral water and just use tap water for cooking and for making coffees and teas.
Overall, this is a very useful kit to have at home. I think it is good value as you would only need to test your water periodically and not on a daily basis. Great find and highly recommended!
It’s quite a big kit and each pack within the kit tells you how to use it which is straightforward and quite comprehensive and each pack is sealed very happy
Outside packaging let you know information regarding what each pack is used for which is great to know as you can use these for drinking water pools and spa aquariums oval very pleased not sure use every single one 10 as we travel quite a bit it’s nice to know what we drinking or if we can drink very pleased
We’ve had a few water quality issues here over the last year or so and as I only drink water (and the majority of the time, directly from the tap), the overall safety of the water has been on my mind.
This test kit allows the user to test a water sample simply and produces fast results. You’re also provided with a clear and easy to determine chart for the results.
If you already keep aquarium fish (freshwater and marine), you’re likely already familiar with a number of the indicators – Ph, Ammonia, Nitrates, Nitrites and Sulfate, and if you want to make sure your de-chlorinator is also doing it’s job effectively, the chlorine indicator too.
It is worth familiarising yourself with safe parameters for all of the indicators in this test – nitrates are almost entirely harmless up into fairly high levels, whereas nitrites can cause problems in much lower levels.
I’m pleased with this test kit – the addition of the two bacteria tests is a nice addition to have.
I got this kit set today. And so far I have done two tests, one for Lead, copper, iron and second one for chlorine. First test (for Lead, coper, iron) showed me the best results which I thought to double check so I mixed table salt in water and did the second test (for chlorine) and marker colour just shot off to the top.
Now, I am confident about these test kits. And they are very simple to use. Each pouch has instructions label printed on it.
This kit is really impressive. It allows you to easily identify what exactly is in your drinking water and then keep track of it.
The test consists of a simple master test that is completed by following the simple instructions, and dipping it for two second. The results come back within 15 seconds. Should you have any concerns following the results this you have the other tests within the set that you can then simply complete to pin point exactly what is causing you the issue
The follow up tests whilst quite high in quantity comparatively to the master test, only have two for bacteria which means you cannot test as much that however those provided is still good to monitor your water over a shorter period of time.
This kit is really impressive. It is simple to use and easy to follow. If you want to track what is in your drinking water then I recommend this product.
Your water board regulary tests mains water. But you should periodically test your own water – especially if you use well water and especially after any building work around the pipes, water tanks or in the street outside — why?
[1] “HARDNESS” is usually from calcium and magnesium which needed in our diet. But there are other “hardness” chemicals that are not so good – such as iron, manganese, or arsenic . You need to know this as a minimum to set the iron exchange system in your dishwasher and to check any water softener system and to use the correct amount of washing powder.
[2] HEALTH – CHEMICALS Tap water may look, feel, smell, and even taste fine. But that doesn’t mean it’s safe. While pH and calcium or magnesium content may be helpful to know, other contaminants are more vital to check for. Fuel and sewer system leaks, degrading water systems, and even some naturally occurring minerals can cause serious health concerns.
[3] HEALTH – MICROBES – can cause serious health concerns. Remember the problems can come from inside our houses; home roof space water tanks can become contaminated with birds in the roof, etc.
If you have a pool, hot tub or have a valuable aquarium full of fish – you will also need to be on a regular testing cycle.
Plumbers and builders should know all about this, but- you should have a water testing kit at home – or know how to get one. For example – today 15,000 homes in Sussex and Kent are without water after rapidly thawing snow and ice caused mains to fail – as FIVE INCHES of rain brings flooding. Police Scotland’s training headquarters had to close in December 2022 after traces of bacteria were discovered in the water system
We had high nitrates recently – not uncommon after high rainfall increases run off of ground water from farms into the water supply. I retested today to ensure this level was falling back (see the photos)
This kit is good as it splits testing up into small groups of related tests…so is more cost-effective
each test set comes in resealable packets – lasts longer
you get a list of the expected results
it even includes tests for bacterial contamination
There are no problems with this kit as far as I can see as long as you follow the instructions. I tested this kit against another make that I have – and there was very close agreement.
