Easy to install and gives quite good extended WiFi in my bedroom
Works well took some fiddling to connect but once done is ok.
Item works a treat. Had to mess around whilst setting up slightly but I got there in the end.
I had hoped the “quick start” using the WPS button would be the start and finish of the setup but in the end, I had to follow the “repeater” instructions.
They are easy to follow and easy to setup. Trippled our WiFi strength and MBPS upstairs.
Excellent wifi extender, no issues or slowing in our network noted, really handy and works well for the back part of our property which is long. No issues with the property being brick built, this product still works well despite this – an improvement on previous models we’ve had from other manufacturers.
Very great price at 12.09 with current 45% off.
Verdict:
Recommended.
I ordered this for two reasons. One, to boost my WiFi in the upstairs of my house (even though my signal is pretty decent already). And two, to boost the WiFi out to the garage for my security camera (this was the driving motivation). And it works admirably.
You can spend a great deal more for more familiar WiFi boosters that don’t really provide anything more than this does. I get full access to my WiFi from my garage that I didn’t have before. It was easy to set up, using my existing password, and up and running in minutes. It’s small enough to be tucked away discreetly, and pretty decent quality. All in all, I’m very happy with it, and equally happy to recommend it to everyone.
I always try to write an honest and unbiased review of all the products I order. My reviews are only my opinion, of course, but I hope they help.
Basic.
Does what it says.
App a little tricky to set up.
Performs ok.
Very good, we have this in our garage and it can efficiently replicate the signal and has a good range. Perfect!
small and easy to configure, extends wireless range to hard to reach places in the house, good value for money
This WiFi range extender works as it says and is very simple to install if you follow the steps from instruction manual. For me it worked to extend the range with another 10 and this is awesome. In the box you get the extender,1m network cable and instruction manual. It has 2 antennas and works perfect. It can be used in 2 modes:repeater with wireless router or ap mode for cable connection.
This WiFi extender booster by WAVLINK is incredible and has made such a huge difference in my household in the last few weeks since we have installed it. Speaking of which this was very easy to do. I connected it to my TalkTalk Router via WPS by pressing this button on the back of my router and of course plugging the WIFI extender nearby the router and also pressing the WPS button. Green lights began to flash and I was then able to change the passwords for the WIFI booster by following specified instructions in the manual. In less than 10 minutes it was all set up!
I was shocked by how much better my WIFI is now. Movies load within a split second when before they would take 5-10 seconds to load. At first glimpse this doesn’t sound ground-breaking, but if you are a gamer, for example, you will for sure notice a difference in how smooth online gameplay is, no disconnections and hence no excuses for your gaming performance ;).
Overall, 5 stars. Would certainly recommend!
Thank you for reading my honest review, i hope you found it helpful! 🙂
Bought this to extend my wifi to get a better signal for my doorbell as i live in a flat on the first floor.
It does the job and doorbell now has a signal and working as it should.
Dont be put off by other reviews.
Firstly set up is so simple, press wps button on router, then plug extender in and press and hold the button on the front for around 9 seconds till light starts to flash, let button go then about 2 mins or so later its connected, as simple as that. You can then unplug the extender into any socket anywhere in your house and it will auto connect. ( when setting up its better to have router and extender in the same room to start with).
Secondly i read some reviews about this item getting warm or over heating, utter rubbish, if its getting warm or overheating then your electrics need checked or the item has a fault in it and needs to be exchanged. Mine is plugged in my kitchen and have had no problems with it whatsoever.
As for the range, i have no idea, ive not tested that as i only use it for my video doorbell, but like i said i live in a first floor flat and doorbell is downstairs on communual front door and works ok.
“Long Story Short”
Not as easy to connect, you may reset it once or twice before you connect to it but once connected it works flawlessly.
As a repeater it works great, you will have WIFI in places where it was disturbed or weak.
Keep in mind that it isn’t a PRO repeater and only works to certain point, it will work great in small house but if you need longer distance i would suggest to look for mesh system
It works nicely for my small house.
I have WIFI in a room when i had barely one bar of signal, now is full 5 bars.
Value for money 10 out of 10
It’s fairly simple to get connected and I quite like the look of it, it’s not intrusive.
It does work – I put it on my upstairs landing to boost the signal in the bedrooms and my office and it is better. However, you do lose some speed… not badly though and it does work.
Well packed and looks really slick unlike some of the other work extenders out there.
My router is at the front side on the 2nd floor, so when I go to the garden I tend to lose the wifi signal.
Now I’ve plugged this in a socket in the kitchen which faces the back garden and set it up through the URL, my phone picks up the wifi better so I can keep chatting to my family in the garden.
I did have a little problem connecting to the app but it wasn’t too much of a problem.
with the branding. This is just a personal little niggly thing I noticed when trying to set up .
I checked the brand wavlink and there’s some inconsistencies. The website itself doesn’t show up with the logo that is on this box and the range extender section of their site doesn’t even show this product.
Maybe it’s just lagging behind and they’ve changed the logo and rebranded a little as the circle with the line logo does appear in a browser search but the logo itself wasn’t show on any webpage of the site I checked.
However, that being said, the product itself does feel sturdy and well made. Plastic’s not feeling cheap but it doesn’t feel premium either but it does feel good. Although with previous brands experience they do feel close enough to be reasonable.
The set up however is a little finicky. Maybe it’s just the wording but I was unsure as to whether you can set this thing up with an extension socket. You can.. it doesn’t state that and I have no spare plugs near the Wi-Fi/router so I’m glad I didn’t need to have it close. You could probably set this up as long as it’s within range of the Wi-Fi signal itself to be honest. I did a couple of set ups and you can just plug it where you want it and set it up from there.
It is fairly straight forward though but I didn’t have a Wi-Fi card on the desktop so I had to set it up through my phone. The link to the website does not work unless you are connected to the Wi-Fi, which may just be my brain not working (most likely, it does actually pretty clearly state it in the book) as I was for some reason thinking it was like the ones you plug in via the wall and it extends through the buildings electrical system (pretty bad to be fair, Wi-Fi was faster for me personally)
As someone else states
– plug it in (anywhere as long as it’s within range of the Wi-Fi)
– connect via laptop/desktop Wi-Fi card/phone/tablet
For me personally here, it opened a browser immediately and I didn’t have to log it at all, just had to set a new password
– set a new password
– set a new name for the Wi-Fi (your Wi-Fi VM/SKY etc) if you want or just rename it here too. You do not have to though but it will just add _EXT to the end of your usual one
– connect to your Wi-Fi with your Wi-Fi/router/modem (yes the modem/router hubs work too) password
– reconnect on the same device or another device once tit’s established the connection and reset itself
I was trying to make it more complicated than it actually is. It’s super easy and straight forward just takes a little time.
So it’s definitely not as fast as the more expensive options, but if you just need to extend a signal out to a garage or shed for a bit of music then this is ideal. I personally picked this up to extend the Wi-Fi to outside so I can connect a camera that is just out of reach of my usual signal. Time will tell whether the signal is good enough for that camera though so I’ll update when I have a better idea.
For the price it is, 21.99 RRP usually, it’s not a bad little thing and does what I need it to. If you’re wanting to extend any heavy usage between a lot of devices it will probably struggle with a decent signal on that front.
my home wifi network is not stable all the time, especially very weak or even no signal in the garden. after using the wifi extender, it’s so much easier to continue with wifi in the garden, so happy to have a smooth facetime
It’s easy to set it up, it’s more or less plug, and play, it’s also small enough to fit without having to move furniture around. Speeds are ok I managed to get in my garden about 15 meters from it until it started losing signal ..so it’s pretty good.
I’m currently with Virgin Media and I live in a maisonette with a long corridor. My internet doesn’t reach the kitchen. This WIFI extender makes this possible. Easy to set up by following the instructions guide.
I’ve had a few problems with the wifi in my house, so picked this up.
Configuration was really easy, and the included instructions were easy to follow.
Once configured, I plugged it in mid-way between my router and the area in my house that had the spotty signal.
So far, everything has been really stable, with no dropouts to the signal that I was previously experiencing.
I’ve been having signal problems with my ring door bell and it keeps lagging due to moving my router upstairs so that the kids stop moaning about lagging on their consoles, so I thought I’d give this a try plugged in down stairs. So far it has improved the signal on my doorbell and it works how it should now which is the main thing I needed it to do. I also get abit better signal in my kitchen now so overall it does what it’s suppose to do. Would be better if it was higher than 2.4GHz/300Mbps but for the price I can’t complain.
I connected this to the 15m Ethernet cable I have running from the downstairs living room up to the rear bedroom to test how this affected range and whether it would help with some of the blackspots in the house. It definitely serves its purpose for the bathroom at the rear of the house. It’s almost impossible to get Wi-Fi inside there due to it being so far from the router and through several brick walls. With this extender in the back bedroom, I can maintain a decent connection.
The only drawback to this is the 300Mbps speeds, this is plenty for most people but my internet connection allows for upto 1.3Gbps, more than 4 times that speed. It will do though, I’m happy with it but I wouldn’t say I’m ecstatic.
This is ideal for our family of six.
As you can imagine there’s a lot going on in our house when it comes to wireless technology, so gaming, pc’s, laptops, streaming it’s all happening.
My husband has sought refuge in his man cave, also known as the garage and gets a sketchy connection at best. It’s the same situation in the garden on the patio in the summer.
This range extender has made both of these areas completely usable.
This means I can listen to my audible books outside in the summer and my husband can use his laptop in the garage and use his 3d printer for his models. Using this gives us a reliable signal in otherwise dead areas.
Our neighbour is switching providers at the moment so we gave him this to use for the next couple of days so his little boy can still play his games and watch his streams while they are without internet. It works perfectly.
It’s easy to set up, literally 2 minutes, and there’s an easy to follow manual included.
I would definitely recommend it.
I hope you found my review helpful.
Plug in
Let it boot, pink light goes red
Go to the URL in the book
Type admin as password
Choose ur normal WiFi
Put in details
Let it sync
Connect to the ext
Job done!
You do lose a massive proportion of speed, but for connecting something like a smart speaker etc that simply can’t find the range to the main router, this is perfect and a reasonable price.
Was very easy to set up using the WPS button on the modem and it has increased our Wi-Fi signal upstairs on the firestick from fair to very good.
Highly recommend.
Helps boast the signal in the house . Great to not have to worry to much about the kids shoutting about no signal.
