Great view at night and good battery life during winter nights, doesnt need charged at all.
A brilliant camera at a great price, its great for peace of mind and security. 5 stars!
The Smart Solar Security Camera Outdoor Wireless 2K HD Camera is an excellent security camera. It has great image quality both day and night, with clear and sharp images. The two-way audio feature is also great, allowing for communication with whoever is at the door or in the area. The PIR motion detection and human detection features are also very useful in deterring potential intruders. The installation is easy, and the app is user-friendly. Overall, I am very satisfied with this security camera.
Good value and the product was easy to setup, works really well, with good quality. Haven’t had any issues so far.
The quality of image provided by this camera is excellent. Add to that the ease of set up with no additional cables, power supplies, etc make this a highly versatile product. Power is provided by solar and an in built battery allows it to be positioned pretty much anywhere. Pan tilt zoom controls are simple. Finally great proactive customer service. They contacted me to check that everything was as it should be, which it was.
Good quality twin pack of cameras with night vision and security light built in,
Easy to connect to WiFi just make sure you have a strong signal and the piece of mind with the extra tf card slot.
After doing some research on solar powered CCTV decided to order the Xega ones, must say ease of use and quality is excellent. Kiki on customer support was great too!
Very good value for the money. the battery indicator says fully charged even though the days are short. very easy to link to the mobile app. great service from Kiki at Ubia.
Excellent camera footage day and night. Easy to set up and easy to review footage.
This in my opinion is a good camera for the following reasons.
* Connection is a doddle.
* Good reaction time to alerts, image shows fibre guys at next door, knew instantly when they arrived.
* Wake up time is good.
* Picture Quality good
* Installation, the device comes with self adhesive templates for the fixings, nice touch.
* It feels like quality unlike some others.
* The images save to your pictures on I phone and you can send/upload as i have done here, unlike a 200 4g camera we have in the fields that does not allow this.
Great bit of kit
I essence i will buy another for the rear of the property.

I bought the set of two and installed them outside my house in Barranquilla Colombia, sunshine everyday there and they work great when i am in England i can view them and move them around fantastic and Kiki is fantastic with the follow up contact, great company great product and great aftercare what more can i say ? and i dont work for them lol
These cameras are very good quality I was impressed, no issues with them at all. I was also surprised to recieve an email from Kiki from customer support who was very helpful and courteous to check to see if I was happy with my purchase (which I was) this has not happened to me before so was very impressed! Thankyou Kiki for the pleasure of dealing with you and your company.

Xega Solar Security Camera is an extremely well built product at a very reasonable purchase price.Highly recommend so so easy to install& does exactly what it says on the tin.5* ++ rating.
This Xega camera is solar operated you have to make sure during the day it gets good light so you be assured during the night it will work fine, the picture quality and night vision is very good. Overall I am happy with it.
Fantastic little HD camera
Easy set up
Wifi connected
Solar with no wiring
Very good detection
Has been in use for over a week very happy
Would recommend to anyone, connects to your phone via APP and all the notifications come through to this
Amazing camera, well made! Great vision day and night!! Clear picture and easy to set up ! Highly recommend
I cannot complain about the image and sound quality. The app is also great! However if you get caught in a cloudy week, you’ll end up needing to charge it indoors and the solar panel won’t be able to keep it running. Apart from that is a great camera.
The Xega RBX-S50 is an outdoor security camera with full control via a wireless connection. It is powered by an internal lithium battery that can be charged with the included solar panel. The lens mount is motorized, giving remote control of horizontal and vertical movements, as well as zooming in and out.
The integrated power source gives a degree of independence regarding siting the camera. I put our sample on a post in the garden, quite high up, and pointed at the lawn to record wildlife, particularly at night. The plastic mount is easily attached using the supplied screws. Masonry will require the use of a drill and wall plugs (preferably better ones than the cheap examples in the kit). The solar panel I mounted in a similar way below the camera, adjusted with the swivel mount to face slightly upwards, to harvest as much sunlight as possible. It could be sited remotely from the camera. The 3-metre lead gives a lot of flexibility in this regard. It plugs into a USB-C socket under the unit. An alternative power source could possibly be used if sunlight is in short supply, but the body of the plug is a little undersized, and the socket surrounded by rubber to keep out damp, so a suitable lead will be needed.
Before all of that, the first job is to connect the camera to the home WiFi and to download the Ubox app to a smartphone. It’s fairly standard for this type of device. I would have liked to have used the camera via the PC, but it doesn’t support Windows. The only option is to use the Android app in an emulator, or possibly to use a multi-make camera Windows program. This will require some knowledge and effort, and the camera may need to be set up on the maker’s app first to obtain the details needed.
The camera can be set up using either a sound signal or a QR code. I ran into problems with the former, but the QR code worked straight away. The instruction book has clearly had some effort put into it, but some of the English is hard to follow.
The camera has all of the typical features as detailed in the listing. The app is quite easy to navigate, but not perfect. Recordings can be viewed after a short connection delay. They can be stored on an SD card in the camera, or in the Cloud (subscription needed after free trial). The recording quality is very satisfactory, and I found this camera to be capable generally. I am still trying to set recordings longer than a few seconds, and the battery does not last the night at this time of year. it might do better in a security setting, where is is triggered and accessed less frequently.
Update: 7/11/22 Customer Service
I was pleased to receive an email from Kiki from the XEGA support team to enquire whether the camera was still working well, and to offer me a free three-year warranty.
The camera is still working well-within the limitations of the solar energy available at this time of year-and showing little evidence of exposure to the elements.
As technology moves on so everything is getting smaller and more energy efficient.
Here is a Camera, with voice that can be controlled remotely and all is powered by a small solar panel!
The package comes a with everything you will need to setup the device and the solar panel.
The camera itself looks pretty solid, and its base looks like it will hold out for a while. The camera has fittings for 2 different screw placements. Ideally you will use all the screw points, but many times the camera is in a an awkward spot.
The Solar Panel is fitted separately with an arm that is about 10cm long, this does feel a little short and I found myself almost trying to negotiate where I would place it so I could get better light. The arm is long enough to position the solar panel, but not long enough that if the is anything slightly in the way it cannot bypass.
Connecting: This was a lot more effort than it should be, I kept getting an internet unstable error, turns out it wants to get out onto the internet before it will make the connection. Once I had figured that out, it then was a real effort to arrange it to push my wifi details to the device. What took 15 minutes should not have take 5min.
NOTE: this device will only connect on a 2.4Ghz network, if you only have a 5G network you not be able to complete the setup. A mixed network 2.4/5, is fine as it will select the appropriate connection
Use: In terms of use I am quite happy. The picture quality is pretty decent, and I can tell quite clearly what’s going on in a picture.
Everything is controlled from an app. ONLY Android and Apple, so no PC software. This is a pretty limiting step, and while I know this is common, it would be nice to easily connect it to a laptop or desktop.
The App itself, once connected, is fine. You select the device and once in I have the option to move the camera, enable volume, talk over the mic, record video or take a picture. You can also zoom in on an image, which is pretty much the software making the picture bigger and not actually zooming in.
From the App I was also able to change between lamp and infrared, meaning at night if something is detected it will either light up the area with its build in lamp, or it can highlight it only with IR.
Personally I selected IR since it would hopefully be more energy efficient and not alert anyone sneaking around who shouldn’t.
In terms of storage you can either insert your own micro SD or subscribe to their cloud service. I have a micro SD so that what I am using. I also notice that if I take a photo or video it gets saved on my phone and pushed to google photo storage.
I have had no problems with connection, and that’s good. That said I have not tested how far away I can be with the device before it starts to fail. Though with 2.4Ghz while data transfer will be lower speedwise, it is supposed to be better on range.
Short: Looks Solid, setup could be easier, works really well and lots of control.
I was really quite surprised at how clear the image is with this camera, there isn’t much difference in picture quality compared with a hardwired camera in my opinion.
I’ve got 2 ring flood light cameras and they aren’t much better than this to be honest yet the cost considerably more and I had to hardwire them in which took up quite a bit of time, so based on the picture quality and ease of install this is definitely very good value for the money.
Setup in straightforward enough, as with most tech like this now you simply scan the QR code which takes you to the app and follow the setup instructions.
The beauty of this camera is also it’s potential downfall though, you can install this pretty much anywhere that gets reasonable sunlight, however, you also need wifi so if you have a large garden or weak wifi signal this probably wont work at the bottom of the garden.
I really like that you can control the cameras viewing angle from your phone, it makes adjustment so much easier than having to get the ladders out to reposition like I do with my ring cameras and the two way audio is really quite clear (again this depends on wifi strength though).
All in all this is a really good camera for the money in my opinion.
This wireless outdoor solar CCTV camera is a multifunctional tool that provides clear imaging and audio that is effective as a safety measure.
The XEGA smart solar CCTV camera employs a highly-sensitive PIR motion sensor that can detect movement at a distance of 12 meters, wake up in 0.2 seconds, and record all human motions while greatly decreasing false alarms brought on by rain, insects, etc. An IP65 waterproof that ensures adaptability in adverse weather conditions. It is wireless and only supports 2.4GHz WiFi and notifies you in a timely manner using the UBox application. Considering that it has a large-capacity battery the integrated solar can recharge it when placed anywhere that is 3 meters or less from the CCTV camera. This product comes with a free 30-day cloud storage trial that supports up to a 128GB SD card.
Additionally, it features a wide field of view that eliminates blind spots at 355 Pan, 100 Tilt for angle accessibility, and Two-Way Audio with a built-in microphone and speaker to allow users to hear and speak to anyone in front of the camera in real-time. This features two 1080P HD night vision modes: IR night vision and highlights colourful night vision, which only supports IOS and Android software.
Overall, this CCTV camera has all the features I’ve been looking for. I can utilize a remote control to check on the status of our home and alter our security measures whenever I want. All users can receive notifications when it detects movement, and it also supports multi-user viewing using Android or iOS mobile devices only. The recording then is not continuous 24/7 and only starts when motion is detected or programmed.
Despite these minor problems, I will still suggest this one because I believe it has a lot of assurance for protecting my family
Xega Outdoor Home Security Camera Wireless WiFi, Solar Powered, Pan Tilt 355View Spotlight, PIR Motion Sensor, Super HD Night Vision, 2 Way Talk, IP65 Waterproof
Very nicely presented in the box .
Inside the box is 1 cctv camera with screws and raw plugs. 1 solar panel with type c cable .1 bracket with screws and raw plugs.
1 user manual with installation guide. 1 type c charger cable with small bracket. 2 paper/sticker templates for attaching to the wall .
The app is very easy to sett up and straight forward. Once the camera is charged via USB plug it is ready to be mounted with the solar panel. The app and cctv camera are set up via WiFi and 4g connection.
The camera quality is crisp and very clear.
The app is very user friendly and has many options for operating the camera via your phone . The app allows other devices to be linked to the camera for other family members to connect.
The build quality is of a very high standard .the front light on the camera is super bright for perfect night vision.the Mounting and installation of the camera and solar panel is very straightforward with the help of the two paper/sticker templates .the manual is well laid out making the setting up process very efficient. (It is recommended that the camera is fully charged before installing so that the solar panel can maintain the power level for the camera operating. )
In all a very impressive and good quality cctv camera set up very well packaged and very well put together. The manual is clear and easy to follow. The app is easy to set up and very user friendly. Very much recommended
This is a really easy to use solar security camera that provides an excellent image quality in both day and night mode.
Because it’s solar powered it means you don’t have to worry about wiring it up. Just plug the solar panel into the camera and it will keep the internal camera battery juiced up.
The camera is very easy to set up via the app and it provides easy to follow instructions on how to connect to your WiFi etc.
once connected you going full access to the cameras settings like image quality, notifications, PTZ control etc.
overall this Is a very good camera for the price.
This is very pretty looking camera and on first look it seems be well designed. It’s body is sturdy and protected from weather conditions.
Camera comes with solar panel which meant to charge the camera. The panel looks typical and is good quality. I was pleased to find out that this camera is powered by usb type C cable connection. Micro usb ports are less popular now. Camera should be charged from main before installing outdoors to make sure it has enough power to set it up and to extend its battery life.
The camera will require an app to download. App is called UBox App. Through this app we set everything up, as it will show us step by step. Once set up, we can customise other settings the way we want.
The manual instruction book is nicely written, with details and images so it helps a lot. App is easy to set up and customise the settings. I don’t think you will struggle with it.
There is also separate instruction how to install but more details we can get by scaning QR code on that installation leaflet.
This camera can be installed to ceiling like surface or to the wall. There are both options available on the cameras back bracket. This camera has its weight so I rather recomend to drill the holes on the wall to screw in this camera into, rather than sticking it by tape. It’s more safe and secure this way.
Solar panel has 3m long cable so I suggest finding good sunny place for it. Camera can be like 2.5m away, that’s not a problem, as long the solar panel gets enough sun light to charge the camera. Bare in mind that during winter there is less sun and days are shorter. So I will install my camera somewhere near the window upstairs so if battery gets low I would be able to connect long cable and charge it from main. I don’t want to unscrew the camera from the wall for the charge so the cable placed through the window should be good enough. I don’t fully trust this technology and I know that one day it may stop charging (foggy day, rainy day, etc) so back up from main power will be essential.
Camera supports SD card which is not included but if someone already has Cloud subscription, this can be used for this camera instead of SD card. I’m going to put SD card any way.
Quality picture is good, even at night. Camera can be set to record only during certain times. For example from 9pm-12am or whenever suits us. For the remaining times camera will not react to movement. We don’t need to use this option, that’s just suggestion to save the battery. Sensor is sensitive and sometimes records even bird flying around so every camera activation uses battery to record and save the recordings.
All in all, this camera has good potential and I like that it uses sun light to get the energy. Even if I still will need to occasionally charge it from main power plug, I think it still worth to have this camera. It’s good quality and the battery inside is quite capacious so hopefully it will not let me down any time soon.
As this camera has a solar charging it doesn’t require any power support from the mains which means it’s simple to install and will only require some drilling. The instruction manual is quite simple to follow, and it includes bar codes to video support of all the main steps from installation to Wi-Fi connectivity.
The camera comes with all the stuff needed for installation. The main thing is that the camera needs to have a decent wifi connectivity and as my router’s wifi signals were a bit weak I have installed an additional WIFI range extender to support it. Video performance has since improved.
The night vision gives a clear view although like most other cameras the recording turns black and white. The camera has a zoom option which give a clear view. The camera allow storage on a memory card to be installed on the camera or the cloud storage option however that needs to be subscribed.
At this price the quality is decent and so far it’s delivering, so overall a good camera.
I was pleasantly surprised by this security camera. Given that it’s powered only on solar power, it works remarkably well.
Taking the camera out of the box, I noticed it had a good weight to it and felt pretty good quality. Set up was straightforward – the instructions manual has a QR code which you can scan to download the app. Simply register an account and then the app will search for the camera. Then it’s time to put the camera into your desired position.
The camera comes with the screws and plates required to drill it in but I’m lazy so I used Gorilla tape. If you haven’t used that stuff, it’s time to get to know It’s a double sided tape which permanently grips both inside and outside. I’ve used it to hang solar lights, camera doorbells and now this camera with no issue and with total peace of mind. Wait… I’m supposed to be reviewing the camera…
Anyway, the picture quality is really great for a solar powered device. I’m sure you could get better picture quality from other cameras but then you’d be looking at paying a lot more and it would probably need to be wired in. It depends what you’re looking for really but this camera is great for our needs. We have a summer house in the garden so we’re using it to watch for any potential intruders.
There is a monthly subscription that you’ll need if you want to automatically record footage. You’ll also need an SD card for storage. Without the above though, you can view the feed and manually press record if you see anything going on. The camera will send a notification to your phone if it detects movement which is a handy feature. It is super sensitive though and has been picking up the tree blowing in the wind a lot. You can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection feature if you wish though.
Overall, super pleased with this device and happy to recommend
An external solar powered camera, suitable for erecting on and keeping an eye on your property, especially outside.
The camera allows you to connect via 2.4 GHz WiFi, it’s solar powered via a separate solar panel, with 3M cable, so it can be located away from where you need the camera located, this way you can locate the panel to get the maximum sunlight that it needs. It has a pan and tilt 355deg view, a spotlight, PIR motion sensor, super HD night vision, and compatible with 2 way talking, it’s also up to IP65 waterproof.
Please be mindful though, that you need to erect it where it will receive maximum sunlight, to keep it charged and give it enough power to function, even in the winter.
The camera is operated via the “UBox” app, and comes with Cloud and Micro SD Card secure storage and remote access. It supports up to a 128GB SD card, although this is not included, which is a pity, but they are cheap enough these days, which always makes me wonder why they don’t include one, maybe it’s to make you buy the cloud storage.
You can also charge it via USB, especially handy for the winter months, when the sun may not be strong enough to fully charge the camera.
I wanted this camera to keep an eye on my garden area, as it’s difficult to locate power cables out to an external wall, without drilling large holes, this solar setup hopefully is the answer, if our winters allow it to keep a decent enough charge. I have a garden that faces east/west, so it can track the sun all day, and I believe it will charge even on the cloudiest days. I will report back, now that summer seems to have ended, and let you know whether the batteries get enough charge. But as stated, you do have the option of USB charging, either from a power bank, or other mobile source, but I’ll be able to update as winter arrives.
The camera and panel were easy to fit with the the supplied screws, and connected effortlessly to my Wi-Fi, I didn’t have to turn off my 5 GHz setup for this to happen.
The camera is easy to operate, via the app on your phone or pad, even from afar.
A great solidly built piece of kit, that hopefully will be as reliable as it looks.
I’m happy to recommend.
I needed a solar-powered CCTV camera for the front of the house. I wanted a simple solar-powered CCTV system for ease of installation. This product caught my attention with its high-capacity lithium-ion battery and specifications.
The instructions were easy to follow and the box consisted of a solar panel, CCTV camera, and fixtures. The camera unit is made to a good standard and feels good and looks good. It gives a surprisingly crystal sharp clear color image which surpassed my expectations. The multi-direction remote-controlled camera is awesome and the zooming-in gives very respectable image results. The inbuilt lithium-ion battery has a 14400mAh capacity is very large for a CCTV. I found it easy to slot in my own large micro sd card and to plug in the solar panels USB-C plug. The templates for sticking on the wall helped me to drill accurate holes.
The solar panel is lightweight, easy to install, and charged the CCTV camera nicely.
I found it nice and simple to follow the instructions to Bluetooth to the camera and be up and running in moments.
I found the detection too sensitive so I switched it to low function via the settings wheel. Now, only movement near the camera will alert me. I like how when I check the camera, it can still give a color image when the LED lights switch on as I view. . I could also change over to infrared view too. Scrolling through the on-screen menu settings was simple and having a look to see if I need anything else adjusting. The 1080p HD image as you can in the gallery photos is sharp and the zoom and directional on-screen arrows pad worked nice and felt good with very little lag.
The two CCTV WiFi antennas picked up my WiFi signal very well and maintained a strong signal.
I like how I get alerts and can press the microphone button to speak to the courier, friends, or postman when I’m out.
I can take screenshots and videos via the features on the screen.
I felt at home with this CCTV system so quickly and have already shared the app. with my family members so they can also have access to the camera.
This product represents excellent value for money and I highly recommend it for extra security for your home. You can buy extra units and add more to your app.
This solar powered cctv camera I think the price 49.99 at the time of ordering was well worth money, easy to connect via WiFi and ubox app, I uploaded a video from me holding it in my hand at the front door to see the quality. It’s so easy and self explanatory once the camera is set up, motion activated and 2 way speaker would recommend rather than having wires coming into the house from a cctv camera
The camera arrived well packaged and all parts were present.
To get started you need to download the Ubox app which enables the camera to go live.
I positioned in my back garden to optimise the solar panel especially coming up to autumn now so fingers crossed the solar panel soaks up all available sunlight.
The camera can be put in any position desired to cover your needs. Mine captures the whole garden which is what I wanted.
Picture quality is great even at night and to make sure you optimise its potential I recommend buying an SD card to capture any moments you require.
I wasn’t expecting too much for the price to be honest but I have to say it’s comparable with higher end units like my ring doorbell camera.
Easy to set up easy to use and a must have for peace of mind.
This camera has everything you could need for keep an eye on certain areas of your home and some great features.
The main camera module is a good size and well made with a strong mounting bracket on the back that can be mounted in two different ways but I do recommend the larger area against the wall as this gives far better stability and you need that for windy days and to allow the camera to pan and tilt smoothly.
The camera is best placed high up so it can look downwards and that gives it the best pan and tilt range which to keep an eye on my garden (when I don’t have any windows facing out on it) I have found it perfect for when I just want to check on it. I wouldn’t rely on it as a security system style camera although it can do it I think more expensive cameras are better for that but the motion detection is good and the light comes on at night to light up the area very well.
The app works well and does give good images while the pan/tilt is easy to move but it would be a little better if it could work with Alexa as well to view the camera footage.
The solar panel is really nice and sleek with a super thin panel and a wall mount for it and the cable is a good long 3m cable which has the modern universal USB-C connection to put into the main camera module under the rubber waterproof covers and the solar panel if you angle it right and in an area with good day/sun light you will never have to charge the camera at all (it does have a normal USB to USB-C power cable in case you want to charge it without the solar panel).
Overall, for only 49.99 I think you get a lot of camera for the money with some good features and the solar panel especially makes it pretty much maintenance free.
This is a well-made full Wi-Fi Motion sensing ONLY, CCTV camera with tilt & turn plus pan along with infrared for night time viewing sound is via the two way audio output, this supports up to 128gb sd card not supplied and you must down load the app or you will not be able to connect or use its easy to set up a user account and you could sign up for the clous storage but this is down to you, the camera is powered by an on board battery charged by the supplied solar panel with a USB c 3mtr connected lead or you can on first use charge via a USB c lead power source but no matter what it will need a full charge it’s easy to set up on your local Wi-Fi network and easy to use via the app you must down load this to a smart phone or tablet NOT a PC overall this appears to be well made with easy to follow fitting & usage instructions, I feel this might be a bit high in price at 49 compared to other brands sold but other than that appears to work well see close up pictures to show the full camera
We love watching the wildlife that come into our garden and at night we have a number of visiting hedgehogs that until we installed this camera, we never knew we had! This camera has proved ideal for our night watching and as its solar powered, we don’t have to worry about leads and chargers, so we can place this cam where we want it. The camera and solar panel were really easy to set up and install. This camera has a pir motion detector, night vision and also colour recording at night with built in spot light. We found the picture quality during the day and night to both be of good quality. An app can easily be downloaded onto your phone and the camera can be controlled through this. There is also a 2 way talk, so you can talk through your phone to outside and you can also hear from outside onto you phone. This camera is also ideal for home security. There is a slot for a micro sd card but it doesnt come supplied. We were very happy with this camera.
No Price on the site at the time of this review though another model sporting 3G & 4G is up for 200 and looks very similar.
The design is quite smart but needs careful placing to take advantage of the solar charging panel which can be mounted away from the camera top to find better sunlight. The manual intimates that a bracket for this purpose is included, but it wasn’t in my box? The video is crisp, clean and clear – to a point. – any required zoom is down to the device that is showing the video, this is just pan and tilt, no zoom… The Pan and tilt does work well and is reasonably fast. I am not over keen on the night vision which is dependent on white LED’s the range of which is not brilliant except if the subject is less than about 12 feet away, and it’s very obvious that the camera is working, okay for deterrent but no good if stealth is needed. It also shows the position of the camera which does make it vulnerable. The motion detection is a little hit and miss, although the two-way communication works quite well.
The camera looks and feels robust, the various connections and switch are covered with waterproof covers and overall, it is a nice package. with the equipment and facilities, I would expect the price to be between 65 and 75 and if that is so, it would get a four-star rating from me but subject to review for longevity.

Home security cameras are all the rage these days, and for good reason. With this Wi-Fi Security Camera you can strengthen your home’s security for less than the cost of a monthly cable bill. This solar-powered, wireless camera is really well made and was really easy to setup. With 1080p HD resolution video quality is really sharp and crisp. It can pan 90 and tilt from 100 to 355.
There is a built-in 10000mAh battery which stay charged with 7.8W solar panel and don’t have to worry about recharge. Make sure your wifi is a 2.4GHz not 5G. Best thing is that no subscription is required, all you need is a micro SD card. Overall a great camera with solar panel. At the time of review this device was unavailable so not sure about the price.
This review is for the Xega 3G/4G LTE Cellular Security Camera, Solar Powered Wireless Outdoor 4G Security Camera, Pan Tilt 355 View Spotlight, PIR Motion Sensor, 1080P Night Vision, 2 Way Talk, SIM Card Included (grey)
This is a great camera. Well made and easy to setup. The overall quality is really good and love that is has solar power charging. I have installed in a place where I have no power so the solar recharging is fantastic.
The image quality is great and the camera has a number of features. Overall would recommend.
This feels a solid and well made product, there are details that underpin this impression, the mounting bracket is metal and sturdy, the general weight and feel of the camera it self, and even the solar panel has metal arm for mounting.
The controls are all hidden behind silicon grommets and the camera comes with a USB cable and and water resistant extension – should you need to position the solar panel away from the camera to better catch the sun.
As ever with a new from the box review, I can’t speak to longevity or reliability, but it’s reassuring that thought has gone into mounting the camera, and the panel.
In the box are plugs and screws.
The camera itself works by a yet another app, although the app clearly has the ability to service other cameras from this family of devices.
It also asks for a raft of permissions.
Although I skipped a bunch by manually identifying my home WiFi. I did turn off 5GHz service, as that is usually required for pairing and then can be reactivated, I didn’t see that asked for, but my first attempt a pairing failed, with 2.4GHz only on I succeeded.
The pairing was actually okay, the camera speaks to you through the process. It’s a clear loud voice, which indicates how well the speaking through the camera function is going to work.I did reset a couple of times, but the camera read the QR code on the app and paired.
And presto I had video.
This device has good image capability and includes the powered pan and tilting to change the aspect of the camera’s view, which is a useful added functionality.
Storage is by a SD Card – which you need to provide, inserted into the camera, or you can free trial a cloud service via the app.
In conclusion this is a good device with good imaging, including at night, that allows you to speak through the camera remotely – from far away if need be.
I still feel that some common camera app akin to those available for smart devices like plugs and lights, would be a boon.
We recently fitted a security camera to the front of our home and spotted some ‘goings-on’ we were unaware of, including a car parking on our driveway during the daytime. With this in mind, we decided to also fit a camera to the rear of our property and ordered this due to it being solar-powered. This means we can place it high where it is not conveniently accessible without the need to worry about a power supply or having to recharge or replace batteries. Facing into sun, or even cloud, keeps the battery topped up.
The camera feels chunky and solid. Set up was simple straight from the box and involved only downloading the Ubox app from Google Play store and scanning a QR code with voice prompts at every stage. Within a few minutes, it was up and running ready for placing.
The solar panel screws into a bracket to be fitted to the top of the camera which will affect positioning – and limited ours. In our ideal positions high on our exterior walls, the solar panel would be in shadow from the guttering. Given a choice, we would have preferred the camera and solar panel to be mounted separately – although an additional mounting kit is available apparently(“please purchase one accessory kit, which includes 1 x extension cord, 1 x pack of screws, 1 x bracket”) although a purchase link is not provided. Maybe such kits are universal or maybe not. Being uncertain, we didn’t take a chance and fitted in a less than optimal position although we are still happy with this.
The camera works very well, providing bright, clear HD or SD images for both still pics and video with images being saved onto a micro-SD card (not supplied) slotted into the underside of the camera. The camera is operated via the phone/tablet app which allows for notifications if motion is detected triggering the PIR, 4 LED lights can be manually or automatically switched on to illuminate a visitor (or prowler) which is helpful for visitors and delivery couriers on dark evenings but less welcomed by unwelcome prowlers. The also camera allows 2-way communication like a video doorbell so couriers can be instructed where to leave packages.
We are very happy with this security camera and feel it offers excellent performance and value for money. We wouldn’t hesitate to order another but need to find the additional mounting kit so we can position the solar panel separately from the camera to benefit from the best light available.
With energy prices rising I jumped at the chance to order this wireless solar security camera which arrived packed well and securely and included the following:
1 x Security Camera
1 x Solar Panel
1 x USB Cable
1 x Pack of Screws
1 x User Manual
The camera was easy and straightforward for my husband to set up and works just as good as our previous mains powered one. The picture quality is superb, sharp and clear both during the day and at night. The camera can be rotated and tilted, there is a built in mic and speaker so you can communicate two ways, there is motion detection and by downloading the app you can get nonfictions straight to you phone as well as being able to control all the features.
Overall very impressed and would highly recommend this camera.
Cool little device , and I can have this at the back of the garden ( small, and reachable wifi range )
Easy to set up and pretty responsive, nice and sharp streaming.
Been set up for over 2 weeks and it’s self sustained, no cabling, no charging- very maintenance free.
The spotlight working well, so as the colour streaming in the dark.
Good range and a great tool to look after the house.
Only do 2.4GHz, not a deal breaker.
Very good price at under 50, with solar panel included.
This security camera is good. It is easy to install and use. Good quality and design.
