Only issue is the supplied fan is not up to the job when gaming. Ordered a replacement fan today hoping it’ll be up to the job. The CPU is fine no complaints there. Seller and product recommended.

I paired this up with a 550m steel legend mobo and I’m very chuffed. Building a pc for my son for Xmas. I stuck an old rx 580 in there and it’s doing the business

I do gaming and productivity related activities and this CPU has been a workhorse for both. Doing general editing in premiere/resolve, compositing in nuke and rendering in arnold is a major improvement from what the older machines I have. For gaming, it keeps consistently high frame rates in csgo where it is generally cpu-bound. I recommend if its on sale too

Just remember, when buying this, you need a graphics card.
But, that aside, I’ve not had chance to push it yet, but I did get a 10,000 cinebench score with the gigabyte b550 motherboard.

I’ve been using this CPU for gaming and programming since October last year (2022) when I finally had all the pieces to build myself the gaming PC I wanted without having to compromise. Every game I throw at this system it just runs it full speed with max settings without even breaking a sweat. Of course having a GEFORCE RTX 4070ti also helps. I’m not going to start throwing superlatives here, suffice to say if you want to build yourself a gaming PC but don’t want to spend a fortune, this is a very worthy cost effective CPU to consider for current times. I just waited all this time to put in this review to give a true consideration regarding this CPUs ability. In short, it’s fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Still one of the greatest gaming CPUs around

The performance is top notch (I max out my graphics card long before this reaches its limits). The stock cooler with its pre-applied thermal paste is surprisingly adequate for cooling it, temps hover around high 50s – low 60s under load.

If you are building a budget pc and cannot afford (or don’t want to go next gen due to early adoption issues) then this is an ideal cpu. Performance was unbelievable for the price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBrought this for my new PC build to upgrade from a intel 7600k and is it so much faster in games now and along with a 3060 TI its such a fantastic upgrade, I used the original fan that came with it and no matter how i tried under load the temps were in the 85+ range so i purchased a separate fan and the difference is light and day and now my temps under load are around 60+ so a big difference so all in all a great CPU but buy your own CPU fa

Ryzen 5 5600x. Is pretty much perfect. Fan comes with thermal paste so was pleased with that and the cpu itself was easy to install and runs everything really quickly. The fan however was partially difficult to install, was a bit fiddly around the screws and backplate but got it in the end. Very pleased with the purchase and would recommend when on a budget.

    Cracking cheap cpu with igpu
Be aware it’s only a pcie gen3 cpu but zen3 cores
Has a strong memory controller so ur likely able to run ddr4 4000mhz with infinity fabric 1:1 as the igpu is apart of the memory controller and as such they are higher quality than regular ryzen 9-5 range
Pbo also is fully functional so curve optimiser and upto 200mhz is viable min capped out around 4600mhz

Was upgrading an older custom built PC from ryzen 5 1600 to this 3600x and it’s simply night and day. Currently this CPU has to be the best value CPU on the market. For general tasks it’s incredible but for gaming as well it’s superb. Actually installed on old msi 350 gaming mobo as you can now with the latest beta bios from the website.

    highly recommend

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersInstalling took much longer than I thought. I even went through the return process because I thought the CPU was faulty. But then I remembered the BIOS of my B450 motherboard had never been updated. As soon as I did that, everything worked as it should. I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 2600 and the difference is phenomenal. The PC also has an RTX 3080 with 16 GBPs ram. To my surprise the combination runs Cyberpunk at high and ultra settings, plus full ray tracing at 60 fps, sometimes higher.

Very good deal with this CPU, so the already great performance is made even better. The stock cooler is adequate, although I would recommend using a different thermal paste as that can reduce temps by a few degrees, and also setting a more aggressive fan curve than default.
In the Cinebench stress test, the stock cooler is keeping this CPU at ~84, which is below the throttling limit so it’s fine, and when gaming it hovers around 70-74. The cooler is pretty quiet too, so setting higher fan speeds doesn’t make too much noise.

My PC has been telling me for some time that it couldn’t update Windows 10. When I investigated, it was largely due to how I had set up the boot up configuration on my build. I corrected all that, and Windows 10 successfully updated. However, when I attempted to install Windows 11, I was told that Windows 11 didn’t support my CPU. I discovered that the all-singing-all-dancing Ryzen 7 1700X chip that I bought 5 years ago isn’t on the Windows 11 support list. Begrudgingly, I embarked on a search for an up-to-date AM4 processor.
When I found the Ryzen 5600X, I couldn’t quite believe the performance comparison. It basically amounted to a %50 increase in performance for %50 of what I paid for the1700X. No brainer. After a bios update, I installed the new chip and BOOM! What a difference! On User benchmark, my desktop score went from around 78% to 110%. My Office apps now open in a split-second. Well worth the money. This is no longer my primary gaming device, since I bought a gaming laptop a couple of years ago, but it is good to know that this chip has future-proofed my desktop PC into Windows 12 (hopefully).

Everythings good beast of a cpu plays way better than my old r5 5500 but the cooler sounds like a jet about to take off i tried applying more thermal paste adding extra fans …. it just has the worst cooler noise ever it dose keep temps idle at around 48degrees (i have 6 other fans) and at around 70 when gaming at 1080p would recommened spending 20 on a cooler from nocuta or bequie

I made a review on this product after purchasing it, trying to get it installed by a technician but it wasn’t working with my PC. I thought it was damaged but happens it was because it is not compatible with my PC according to the technician. Product is in a good condition.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI already own the 5600G but wanted something that could give me a little bit more. Don’t get me wrong the 5600G is an excellent CPU but after getting it i realised i should of gone for the 5600X. I waited a month or so and decided to get the 5600X and also bought a Gigabyte B 550-M DS3H to go with it which should give me that little extra i was looking for. It should help my Powercolor Red Devil RX 5700 XT perform a bit better.

    Update
Just fitted this and although not a massive upgrade from my 5600G i still notice quite a difference in speed and overall performance. Impressed with this and very happy with the price i paid from Amazon.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI was completely done with the PS5 console shortages and decided to build my very first PC in 2022. The problem was didn’t know a lot about what components to buy (In came YouTube and uk.pcpartpicker.com). This CPU was recommended for gaming which allowed users to game and 1080p High settings with decent if not great frame rate (CoD MWII did state that the CPU is bottlenecking my 6600XT using its own benchmark application).

For gaming yes it’s great but you may have to tweak the settings a bit to gain better performance.
Installation is not that much different from intel maybe slightly easier (for more details search YouTube “Linus Tech Tips- How to build a PC”)
When I bought the CPU it was 180 and hopefully, the price hasn’t increased too much.

Max. Boost Clock Up to 4.6GHz
    Launch Date: 11/5/2020
    CPU Socket: AM4
    Default TDP: 65W

This 6-core GPU has enough horsepower to power all the games you want ( with the right GPU of course) in 1080p 1440p and even 4k. I use this as my daily driver for Gaming and Editing with an RTX 2070s on a 144hz 32” 1080p display.

    full PC Specs:
    Ryzen 5 5600x
    Asrock B550 Extreme 4
    32GB 3600 Crucial Ballistix
    1TB Sabrent Rocket 4.0
    1TB Silicon Power a80
    Palit RTX 2070s
Cooled with an EK custom loop.

Most titles I play are Warzone, Forza Horizon 4 and 5, Modern Warfare 2, Halo Infinite, GRID Legends, F1 2022, Apex Legends and Fortnite. The system can play all the above-mentioned titles at 1080p High settings and hit 100 fps and higher without breaking a sweat. Divinci Resolve is super quick for editing and rendering and overall the system is super fast, very responsive and gaming performance is outstanding! just need to get a 1440p monitor of my own but testing a 1440p monitor for my youtube channel the gaming performance was very playable.

    I hope this helps

after this was installed i did notice that it does seem to boost it’s clock far more often than the older 2600x did that i was using before which causes the temps to shoot up into the 50’s straight away then drops back down to it’s original mid 30’s which supprised me.

great for my gaming needs as it rearly uses more than around 60% load and i don’t hit more the high 60’s in general (using a 360 AIO cooler) and i’m not sure what it would act like using the much smaller included cooler as its smaller than the one you got with even the older 2600x’s stealth cooler by about a third and half that of the wraith prism and spire (personally for a larger case i would suggest you pick up a prism cooler for either the 5600x to start with and then upgrade to an AIO cooler at a later time if temps are not kept cool enough for you).

    This processor is just…wow!

Cinebench from my older Ryzen 1600 was in the 4000’s at best, this blasted pass with 11290!!
Gaming has seen a dramatic increase in performance, especially at 1080p.
Of course this needs to be paired with decent RAM and a good GPU to take full advantage of it, it’s so good in fact, my partner upgraded her PC and is blown away with how fast it is.

For 249 when I bought it, this CPU is a bargain, out performs Intel for value to performance.
At 249 I am getting better results than an i9, this will run happily on a b450 motherboard, just make sure you upgrade the BIOS first, or make sure the motherboard comes with a flashback button.

Temps, This processor runs hot!, but AMD says 90c at full load is normal, it doesn’t start to throttle until 95c, with it’s own cooler expect temps in a well ventilated tower to be around 40-50c idle, 80-90c, under load. with an enclosed water cooler (Corsair H80i) idle 30-40c, full load 70-80c. so worth getting a water unit.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs of October 2021 the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X is probably in the performance vs cost sweet spot for most home users and the average gamer. I purchased this to replace a two-year old Ryzen 7 2700X, gives a decent (c.50%) performance boost for a modest cost (particularly if I can sell the old CPU). It took less than an hour to do the swap and I was back up and running with no problems. Note that you may need a BIOS upgrade to your motherboard to support the 3600X . I did this a month earlier, but its the type of slightly risky task best not done unless you really have to – as was the case here. The only slight compliant I have is that the “thermal solution” (aka CPU cooling fan) provided as standard seems pretty lightweight and wimpy. It may in fact be fine, but I’ve used instead a third party CPU cooler, it cost only 40 but seems a substantial upgrade from the AMD cooler.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had been procrastinating for months on whether to upgrade my ryzen 5 2600 cpu as I play intensive games such as Warzone etc which are pretty demanding. Finally decided to pull the trigger as there wasn’t much chance of finding a sensibly priced graphics card for gains so I took a chance on the CPU with my current 2060.

    The results were incredible!

First of all I had struggled for 100fps at 1440p on my old Ryzen 5 2600 with the 2060 so I wasn’t really expecting to gain a massive amount of frames. How wrong I was, the frames immediately jumped to a steady 120fps at 1440p on my original game settings and after tweaking the settings I was able achieve 140fps at 1440p in Warzone with Ultra settings and DLSS turned on and much higher in Cold War multiplayer. Quite the jump in performance and rendering time improved massively.

Pretty much everything on my pc from work to gaming to browsing is now super fast and boot up times are pretty staggering.

All in all the Ryzen 5 5600X has been the best upgrade I have purchased in years and has saved me from spending more on a new graphics card during these difficult times which I don’t really need just yet and it has paired perfectly with my trusty 2060 which has benefited greatly from the upgrade.

If you think your frames are low for the card you have, it’s likely the cpu is holding you back which was the case for me and I highly recommend the Ryzen 5 5600X as it’s an absolute beast of a cpu.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe CPU itself is fantastic, really great performance, framerates were already at 60 on my end at 1080p with my old 2600x, but the cpu has made a massive improvement to my minimum 0.1% and 1% framerates, I rarely ever drop below 60 unless there is some heavy loading going on ( which is the fault of my hdd, this is alleviated by running games off an ssd )
The 5600x comes with a stock amd wraith stealth cooler, I reckon with a well ventilated case it might do better ( I only have one intake and exhaust fan ) but I am hitting temps of 95c, not just peaks but consistent temps in the 90-95c range while gaming. this was all tested with PBO turned off, just stock settings.
A bit of research will have you see that amd reckons this is fine, the cpu throttles at 95c so it won’t go over that. I swapped in an older hyper 212 evo and temps dropped a solid 20c, not going over 80c now.
If temps are a worry for you like they are for me, then id highly recommend an aftermarket cooler.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst of all, this is simply the best CPU in terms of price to performance for gaming, provided you’re buying it at MSRP. I bought it for 260 straight from Amazon, and at that price there’s nothing better you can get for games.
If you’re buying a CPU for games and not for any other applications that benefit from more CPU cores, chances are that this is the best CPU for you right now. It’s true that you could take a step up for more cores, but you’ll likely not see any performance increase in most games. Additional cores would also come with higher power demand, higher cooling requirements, and a bigger hit to your wallet.

What really makes Ryzen special right now is PBO 2.0, which compared to what Intel does is just miles ahead. If you have a motherboard that allows you to easily activate and tweak PBO 2.0 it’s surprising what you may get in terms of sustained boost clocks (for overclocking) or decreased temperatures (for undervolting)

    Overall I’m convinced and impressed!
