My favourite waterproof jacket. You can machine wash without needing to re-proof it. It lasts well, eventually the lowest fastener and the zip will go, but not for many years. Bought on-line with 100 reduction on usual price and very satisfied.

Bought this on Amazon sale and married it up with a Berghaus fleece which zips into the jacket. Honestly, top class, absolutely love it. The jacket itself is quite light, it doesn’t feel heavy but does what it says on the tin!!! Keeps water out and blocks wind. I bought the size medium and it fits exactly like all other Berghaus products. I’m 6.1′, 89kg, slim/athletic build. To note, if you’re buying a fleece for it, make sure it’s the same size and same brand.

This is at least the third one of this style of Berghaus waterproof jacket that I’ve bought over several years. I checked the Berghaus sizing guide and based on my parameters it suggested a size ‘L’. But I ordered a Medium on the basis that it was the size of my older Berghaus jacket and one reviewer suggested a size smaller might be best. The new Medium sized jacket fits as expected and has room over several layers including a thick woolen pullover. Other coats I have would definitely need to be in size ‘L’ to fit well. I like the jacket as it has popper style fasteners at the front and on the outside pockets rather than ‘velcro’ which sticks to other garments and holds fluff. The exception is on the cuffs and roll away hood where I have to tolerate the ‘velcro’. It also has reasonably large sized pockets including one for maps on the inside to the left of the coat. I’ll be keeping the older jacket for everyday wear and the new one for going out. I did consider trying to clean up the older one but with a new one available at around half the recommended price I thought better of it. The only difference I can see over the old jacket from about ten years ago is that the wording ‘GORE TEX’ and its diamond shaped logo are now stitched or stuck on in white rather than black lettering on the right hand sleeve near the cuff.

Excellent waterproof jacket that has stood up to Scottish mountain weather without a problem.

… for dog walking 1 – 2 hours daily, every day, summer and winter in all weathers. It’s still going strong. With a fleece under in the cold weather I stay warm and dry in the winter. After five years with the dog snuffling at my cuffs I am considering a new one, for appearances only, but I don’t need to.

Only worn a few time so far, and only in light rain, but this seems and excellent jacket . Good design, light and comfortable. XL fits me well, with 46 inch chest. Would need warm undergarments in very cold conditions, but that was expected.

This is the second of these jackets I have bought over the last 30 years, the original starting to look a little tired. I have combined this with a Berghaus fleece and am very pleased with the fit and comfort and weather protection.

I’m 52 and have been buying Bergaus jackets since the age of 18 and I have never been disappointed by the quality, fit and the intelligent and practical design features. Obviously designed by people who hike and climb in extreme weather conditions.

Evri delivered this just left in a tree in front garden lucky it was still there. That’s the down out of the way. The coat looks good and feels nice on. Size XXL more than ample for a 50in chest. Now we have had a lot of adverse weather and it has kept it all out. As I expected it is just as good as the other Berghaus products already bought.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHad mine a year now. It’s an excellent jacket, great fit and comfort with decent sized pockets. Has kept me dry through a number of downpours.

Like some other reviews have pointed out you may need to get one size less than you normally do. I’m 2XL for most of my clothes but this jacket in XL fitted me perfectly even when wearing a thick jumper and a number of layers underneath.

I’ve taken one star off because the DWR coating wasn’t great from new, with some parts of the jacket wetting out easily. I reproofed it with Nikwax TX and it’s been perfect ever since.

Long time user and fan of this model of Berghaus rain coat: very comfortable, good 2x main pockets with proper rain flaps and zips (plus very handy inner map pocket), genuinely waterproof, usefully longer than some (no wet waist/backside) and looks smart (understated) in all over blue. Ample hood folds neatly into stand collar which has fleece inner so nice when you’ve closed all press studs to prevent rain running down your neck. Elasticated draw strings let you not only draw bottom of jacket close to trousers but waist high draw string lets you make it look more fitted than many. Recommended.

This is a lightweight waterproof jacket that provides good protection against the elements

It had a built in hood that folds neatly into the collar

I have coupled this with a polar tech berghaus fleece that fits into the jacket and provides additional warmth

This jacket is a little longer (by design) and provides a little more coverage for your upper thigh.

The zip is designed to open from the bottom when seated, ensuring that it is not stressed when seated

Great jacket and would definitely recommend

Exacty what I wanted – previously had 2 of these jackets and had current one for 10 years without any issues and still looking great. Just wanted to but another in case they get scarce. Some versions of this jacket have velcro fastenings – this one has stud fasteners – just what I wanted. Great price too.

My absolute favourite jacket was one from Burtons before it shut down; It didn’t serve quite the same purpose, but it stands as basically my favourite jacket so far. This one drags it through the mire and muck and leaves it to learn from its experiences. It doesn’t have as much thermal insulation as you might want. It does however block just about every form of wind when zipped up. Combine with a scarf or thick gorget, a sweater, a couple of gloves and maybe a hat, and you’ll be warm for days. It is genuinely a pleasure to wear it. The inside pocket is absolutely massive, and the zippers are great.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersJust as well i read the reviews , thankfully another customer had bought a medium with a 41 inch chest i nearly bought large which would’ve been like a tent. Even with a medium at 5 11 inches tall and a 41 inch chest there’s still a bit of room although the jacket itself is a good fit and looks good. As for the other stuff, i have just been out tonight (27 th Nov) in the UK on the nature reserve with just a thermal top and this jacket. First thing i noticed was the folded in hood and warmth around the neck area there is a felt strip inside the jacket around the neck area which warmed up very quickly, the same material is inside the pockets which would keep your hands warm without gloves i would imagine. The material looks similar to my Rab downpour jacket so i have no worries about the rain, although i have yet to test that, it says windproof well….whatever. I should’ve worn a mid layer but once i had done the walk i was sweating a bit….on a colder day you would definitely need a mid layer and i like the fact it has zips to attach that inside, the length is pretty good not too short not too long. Overall a decent jacket that i hope will last.

In all a decent jacket , good length, side pockets a little shallow, but close well secure. Sizing a bit off I had to come down a size from the recommendatio

I bought this for my partner, and found it to be a little larger than expected. It’s not too bad in winter when he’s wearing a few extra layers though. Good quality and lightweight, but I was slightly disappointed that it didn’t have anywhere around the neck to attach the inner fleece. This meant that it slid around a bit.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAll round weather coat good for commuting and all round protection fairly waterproof and practical good for layering. Brought as a direct replacement, the weakest point with these jackets I find is half way down incorporated in the gortex material is a join that comes undone after a few years use and small thin cord/rope piece of material is exposed

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a smart looking jacket to which you can add linings or just wear as it is. It is cut large to accommodate those linings but, even so, swamped the wearer on arrival and we had to go two sizes smaller to get a reasonable fit and still had enough room to add that lining. I normally find Berghaus is cut small and thus need to select a larger size, but this was the opposite experience. Once you get the right size, it hangs well and looks quite smart as well as fulfilling your needs to use in the great outdoors.

The zip runs well, you just need to make sure both pulls are at the bottom and then it is a cinch. The hood packs away neatly, although that makes the collar quite bulky and heavy against an otherwise light jacket.

This jacket does exactly what it claims to do – it’s well made with quality materials, waterproof and lightweight. However, it offers little in the way of wind resistance and has no thermal properties at all – you will need to spend another 35-50 on a suitable IA fleece to stay warm. So overall it does what you’d expect and no more and at full RRP offers poor value for money, however at a discounted Amazon price it’s just about worth it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNeeded a rrplacement Goretex jacket to replace a couple of very old (10-15 year old) Goretex jackets and to supplement my original (GB) Berghaus Mera Peak. A good basic jacket, soft texture, light weight, comfortable, decent size hood and poppers (wonderful), so much better than horrible velcro. Bought the bluey/grey dusk colour. Why pay more for the other colours! Decent length, and size (large, my normal size), slightly loose without an inner fleece and just right if one is fitted. Anyway, easy enough to pull in with elasticated/toggles for adjustment. Only two pockets (handwarmer), and a decent size map pocket. Shame not a bit bigger and angled, but at the price they are bearable. Besides, who walks around with their hands in their pockets all day. It is a basic jacket, but at the 96 that I paid, very good value and would recommend.

Not tested the waterproofing as not had any rain to go out in. Poppers on the pockets came off the pocket flap within the first wear so disappointed. Very lightweight Coat, very comfortable especially after fitting the Integrated fleece. Disappointed at time to replace the coat.

I bought the large size. I like a roomy fit and that is exactly what I got. Plenty of room underneath for exta layers if necessary. I am 5ft 6in, 40in chest, 21in shoulders and 20in shoulder to wrist.
The material is a medium weight and the lining gives it a very comfortable feel when on.
The velcro at the wrists makes for a made to measure fit. There is enough arm length to make this very suitable for cycling, my main use for the jacket. There are spring-toggle held pull cords to tighten at waist and lower hem. About 3in of tightening at the hem prevents the tail of the jacket from catching over the back of the bicycle saddle, which can be a problem when dismounting.
A couple of hours of cycling in wind and showers left me completely dry and warm and there was no build up of sweat. It is easy to lower the front zip for a little extra ventilation if necessary.
Delighted with this purchase, which is going to get plenty of use.

Love this coat. I lost/misplaced a blue one I’d had for years. Decades! Irrationally decided to replace it because I had several fleeces that fit it. The availability was nil. Arrived sooner than promised and at the same time the.same coat in different colours became available at heavily, very heavily, discounted prices. Whaaa? But not my green one. I know there is a succession of updated specs but this pricing is nuts.

The coat is great. It is better than my blue one. I have no doubt it will be resilient to similar decades of abuse like my old one. 100 price variation irritates for a few months. But after 20 years, it won’t owe you much.

    Great coat. Crap marketing.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI’ve just received my new Cornice 111 jacket – and am delighted to find it is almost exactly the same as my present 12+ year old Cornice. All the lengths, measurements etc match. I am really pleased about this as I wanted pockets and the fit I’ve been used to since the 90s ! – since this is my third after 25? years. The previous jackets have had as near constant use as you can imagine, have been robustly treated and are still waterproof – admittedly with very occasional NikWax treatment. The wear round pockets etc is entirely reasonable after so long.
So, if you’re not sure about the other Berghaus jackets and designs, this is the one to go for! One to trust. And this really is a Real Review!!!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI already own a very old version of this jacket and it has provided excellent service for many years, both in daily wear and on long walks in all weathers. For my purposes, it has sufficient pocket space, has never let the rain in and is windproof. The new version is not quite as long, which is a shame, but that’s not too significant. My previous version was a large size, which gave plenty of room for layers underneath. I am just under 6ft tall, with a 41in chest and reasonably slim. For the new version, I tried the large size, which would have been OK, then decided on the medium, which fits more snuggly and looks a bit neater when not bulked out but still has room for a layer or two. If I need to wear lots of layers, or thick ones, I can always use the older jacket which still performs well.
