Great lightweight boot, sizing accurate and comfortable. I believe these are the ex Brasher boots. Good to see the quality is being upheld.
So far they are great , appear well made and finished, although made abroad they are not made in China.
An excellent and comfortable lightweight boot from the moment they came out of the box. I’ve been on some 6 mile walks in muddy Kent woods, fields and hills and haven’t noticed any discomfort. They clean up very easily. I wish they weren’t such a dark brown, but the leather is good and I can forgive the colour when they’re this good. They’re much better off tarmac than on it, so not a boot for much on-road or pavement walking though fine for short distances.
The ankle support takes a bit of getting used to if you haven’t worn boots for a while, and it’s worth taking the time experimenting with lace tightness (I miss out a pair of hooks for optimum comfort). But once set up right, these are great. The tongue squeaks up at the top, but this is solved after waxing. I would recommend, because after a few months of heavy use and care they look as good as new and keep the water out. Smart, classic looks.
Having purchased same make and style a couple of years ago I was disappointed to see the quality of the moulded rubber soles. The boots themselves fitted well but the noise made from the soles and their construction especially with the price bracket put me off purchasing.
I really like these boots. They were comfortable from first use and are a nice light weight. I have not tried them in very wet conditions so do not know if they are waterproof but they were fine in light rain. The insoles are not of the best quality.
Brought these as a replacement for some old very comfortable walking boots. I was surprised that these were comfortable right out of the box and did not require any breaking in. I usually take a size 9 but always go one size up for walking boots. They have seen some very wet conditions and have been 100% waterproof. The sole pattern makes them easy to clean and provides good grip. Very pleased with them and definitely would buy again.
I owned a pair of these when they were known as Brasher many years ago and I loved them, so I decided to buy them again. Being leather lined, they breathe exceptionally well. You may require an additional insole or thick socks to help with the fit, as the leather is so smooth that you won’t get the same friction from the fabric lining in most other boots. At 99, they are an unbelievable deal.
This is a good quality boot. I’m glad I waited until they had size nine and a half as it would have been too narrow if I hadn’t. Other than that, my opinion is that it is a good boot and I’m pleased I went for it.
The product replaces the one I purchased 6 years ago. It’s comfortable. The only comment that I would make is the length of the tongue which protrudes and gives it a funny appearance.
These boots are one of the best I have worn. Unfortunately they did not arrive and I did get them for a great price in black friday. Rather then offer replacement I was refunded and lost all the discounted price
I ordered half a size bigger and there’s good width. Already tested water and mud and my feet were dry. They feel robust but comfortable and just confirmed that the bigger the cost the higher the standard.
Second pair of these boots that I have bought. A very good three season boot for hill walking or year-round boot for low level walking. The quality is excellent – they have never let any water in. Mostly used on the gentler downs of southern England, but also in the Cheviots, in Snowdonia, and once on Ben Nevis in the summer.
I’m a dog walker and I do roughly 50-60 miles a week. They last me generally about 6-7 months (second pair) which equates to 1,200+ miles of walking in all weather conditions and terrain.
Never had a single blister or any discomfort at all. Super comfortable and of course 100% waterproof. The soles are Vibram so their really hard wearing. After a time they wear out but as I say, I think that’s fair considering the mileage they do. Unless you’re doing the miles I do, they’ll last you for ages.
Also – super light! Hence the name.
10/10
My second pair of these. They fit well, they’re light and until recently were waterproof.
I used my original pair for about a year and three quarters, pretty much everyday, going out in all weather conditions for 4+ miles dog walking in our local national park. Lots of rain, plenty of mud etc. The original pair developed a crack at some point over the summer, which might be due to cycles of being soaked and then drying out with too quickly. For ~120 that’s ~1.30 / week for a decent pair of boots. Apart from the crack in the leather the original pair are still in very good condition so it’s gardening duties for them now.
Knocked a star off because it feels like they should last at least two years.
So far so good as plenty of opportunity to leak in the current weather and they have not. I have in the distant past had two pairs of the Brasher version of these boots and I can’t says I can tell the difference. I have since tried several well known makes of both boots and shoes that are supposed to be waterproof and breathable that have failed completely, two on the first wearing in wet grass. My original Brasher ones lasted well in all conditions and I hope these continue to do so. I now think all leather boots are more reliable. I like the tread style too as it doesn’t clog. Also my son has been wearing a pair of the Berghaus Supalite ones for some time in hard conditions and swears by them.
Lightweight and Comfortable. Super soft liner. Good ankle support. Lace hooks allow boot to be easily tensioned from low down the foot. Good support from Berghaus re boot care.
Lovely to wear …
The boots were a gift from my wife. To keep my feet dry when dog walking. The fit is good I am normally a 7 but took a 7.5 for using thick socks. They are very light boots and are so far comfortable. We will how they do over the Scottish winter.
I bought a UK8 as the fit was described as correct by other users. With a walking sock the fit is ‘snug’. Took a while to break in as they rubbed at the heel but after suffering a bit they now feel very good and I will probably buy again but break in gradually next time.
I am new to these types of boots having never owned a pair. As a result I can’t compare to other manufacturers products.
What I will say is that they are very comfortable and light. I can imagine walking many miles and not feeling weight.
The design of the upper has a closed tongue as a result when lacing up it can bulge if care is not taken to fold it in at the edges.
They have had an outing in the rain and didn’t let in rain.
I will give them a coating of grangers g-wax for good measure.
I award four
Happy shopping.
Because of excellent price bought these to replace identical pair showing size of age after 8 or more years. Used daily to exercise German Shepherd. In winter involves often walking through standing water-waterproof never had even damp sock.Lightweight and very comfortable after being broken in. Still going strong but soles showing signs of wear hence this purchase.Wouldn’t be without a pai
Bough for my husband who has very thin ankles and struggles to find comfortable boots. This is his second pair. He can walk miles in these and as they are lightweight it doesn’t feel like he is dragging around lead weights. The first pair are worn out and they did crack across the top after a year or so, but this may have been caused by him getting them wet by accident in the sea and not drying out properly or using any leather cream or protector.
I’d have probably given these five stars but they came in an Amazon box (not the original Berghaus box) with a generic printed message inside stating that the original box had been damaged.
I’m more inclined to think that they were a returned item which they were trying to pass off to another buyer.
Very light. Nice leather lining goes all the way inside. Outside leather is sturdy and smooth. The clasps are handy instead of eyelets. The laces are long and grip well and untie well. The soles have a decent arch and good support around the arch and make your feet well aligned not rock over in any way. The rubber vibram is very good grip and the deep treads good for rocky ground and not too close together so you can easily stomp the muck off them which i love. All round decent boots and not many like them. Id say so long as you treat them properly with dubbin to keep them waterproof and make sure to keep them clean and dry they will last a long time. They will take a bit of battering to soften them up at first …and havent had the pleasure of walking through boggy terrain with torrential rain to test them fully but they give the impression they are very watertight. I mean theres two layers if leather and one of gortex between so if they dont keep water out nothing but a welly will. Anoying that the half sixes are 50$ more.
My wife has a pair of these boots which she’s very happy with so I ordered some for myself. They are very light in weight, with a supple leather which flexes easily and should be comfortable to wear. However, in my case I had to return the boots as they proved to be too narrow across the last and there was not enough room to wear them comfortably when standing, let alone when walking.
Having wide feet and having owned Brasher boots which no longer exist, needing a lightweight boot I chose these and find them an excellent fit with thick walking socks for winter, Cannot comment on how hard wearing they are as have only just started wearing them. I bought the men’s version as I reckoned the width of the toe box should be more generous than for the women’s version. Will replace the footbed with by regular Superfeet version and some tougher bootlaces.
These are honestly the best boots I’ve ever had, I have had 8 pairs of these over the last 12 years, I wear them every day for work and walking so I get through them quickly, they are still waterproof and comfortable but they have no tread left on them and they are so reasonably priced it doesn’t seem worth getting them re-soled, I use my older ones for gardening and doing dirty jobs. So comfy you could use them for running.
This is the fifth pair I have bought in the last 10 years so you will get 2 years out of these if used daily. The boot was originally made by brasher who berghaus acquired as a result the product quality has diminished over time. The design hadn’t changed Which is testament to it working well overall, the boot fit is a narrow fit which suits people with smaller feet.
The only issues you will experience is the laces will break after about 9 months and its a shame the manufacturers don’t include a spare pair. The boot will eventually let in water around the edge as the sole separates from the leather as I say you will get 18 to 24 months use maximum.
For the cost over the two years that’s still good value hence the reason I stick with the same boot.
I loved my old Brasher Supalites, which are still my gardening boots!
so I was delighted to find that Berghaus now make the same boot.
it is, as it says on the tin, super light.
and well-made.
I find that to have enough room across the instep, I need a 10, which is slightly too big around the heel/ankle.
but that can be solved with the right socks, or maybe heel-grips.
worn a few times now, and yesterday for a vigoruous 5 mile hill walk on Exmoor.
so it’s still early days.
But I’m very pleased.
Firstly, the leather – it is very soft – I just hope it is tough enough for hill walking
I have fairly narrow feet and with walking socks, these boots (out of the box) are snug. I expect them to relax a bit with wear.
I ordered the 9 (43) as per my usual shoe size – I then ordered a 9.5 (44) because I wasn’t sure about the snugness of the 9/43. In the end I sent back the 9/43 and settled for the next size up from my usual shoe. I’ve done 10 miles in them today and for new boots they were surprisingly comfortable. It rained hard for about 10mins – no ingress of water so far.
They are slightly higher necked than I am used to – but the softness of the leather meant they didn’t chafe. There is memory foam in the lining so the boot moulds well to the foot.
I was not looking forward to getting new boots – after a few short walks and a longer one today – I am more relaxed. Will they last ten years??
One year on, all U can say is these were a great buy..never let in one drop of water
(Dec ’21)
Ever since Brasher Supalites came onto the market decades ago, I wore nothing else. They were brilliant, if short-lived. Comfortable from the first minute, waterproof and perfect for rough mountain terrain. Then they were bought out by Berghaus and disaster struck. They stopped making my favourite boot. I searched vainly for anything in the same league – in vain. Italian Goretex boots leaked from day one, others weighed like lead and the Berghaus alternative was like wearing clogs.
Then I discovered that Berghaus had seen the light, no doubt due to dwindling customers for their flashy looking but uncomfortable replacement, and brought back MY boots – with Vibram soles as well! So I’m back smiling.
It’s too early to comment on their lifetime but I’m keeping my fingers crossed …….
I just received these boots, so will have to see how they do in the field, but very impressed with the quality and light weight so far! I’m coming to these after many, many years using the Keen Targhee Mid’s (original version about 8 years ago!). These are certainly lighter, but still waterproof thanks to the Gore Tex, and a simplified lug pattern on the sole that should offer good grip, but not get clogged with mud/small stones (ie – easy shedding).
Fit is spot-on for the size (I wear a US Mens size 10 – the UK Mens size 9 is perfect), and even though it’s a full leather outer for the construction, the inner is much softer material, so not expecting much in the way of blisters or sore-spots!
If you have an older pair of boots that are beginning to near the end…the Supalite II boots are at least worth a look!
These are the most comfortable boots I have ever found and I have been wearing them for about 10 years.
However they were never particularly durable. They used to fall apart and start leaking water (when e.g. walking in wet grass; I am not talking about rivers!) after a couple of years. The last two pairs I have had lasted under a year, and on the very last one, one of the soles came right off, with only about 1/3 wear on the sole. Obviously it was not glued on properly.
Also one recently purchased pair had a defect inside which gave me a blister. The company was non-responsive so I just sent them back via Amazon and that seems to be the best way. I will from now on be sending back to Amazon any of these boots that fall apart within a year without much wear on them.
I get a bit fed up that nearly all footwear for men these days seems to be a wide fitting. Thank goodness for these boots. very comfy, lighter than my trainers. Did a three mile country run in them to see how they were at cushioning footfall. Just like running in trainers only without the wet feet! Which brings me onto waterproofing – no problems at all, and they all keep the feet nice and warm. they are made from a very soft leather, however i did get a blister on my left heel after the run – might bet more to do with my odd feet than the boots though.
Cons: not sure about the height of the back of the boot – its kind off cut back. Def not a high top. On steep declines the back of the boot presses onto my achilles in a not too pleasant way. Never had this issues with high top boots.
All in all a good buy. Once the back of the boots soften up, and my left foot toughens up, they will be spot o
When I first tried on a pair of Brasher supalights eight years ago I was amazed. No sensation of hauling bricks about on your feel like other leather walking boots: light, soft amazingly comfortable from day one and with a fine leather lining, it was the kind of boot I always wanted but nobody had previously made. Eight years on aside from the times when I waded through marsh above the boot depth, they have never let in water ever. I had never previously found boots that kept my feet this dry: even Goretex ones would start to leech water in a short space of time. I can only imagine that the soft leather inners of the Brashers protect the Gortex from damage. Thats the amazing pluses but yes: one big downside . The soles were rubbish. Even from new Brashers soles had poor grip and when slightly worn were downright slippy. without spike grips mine were latterly downright dangerous so it was off for a new pair only to find “MY” Brashers were now Berghaus.
Ok. they looked similar…same one piece leather upper…same fine leather lining.. so I bit the bullet. The Berghaus version has a new lighweight Vibram sole! hurrah! so far.,, not a brilliant grip but a big improvement as far as I can see. It givers a slightly firmer harder feel to the boot so not quite as comfy as the old ones. The uppers likewise feel slightly narrower and slightly too tight on the instep (the top of the foot) so I remedied by removing the crap hard boot liners (same design as the old ones) and replacing them with a softer but thinner insole to give more room, and missing a row of the hooks on the instep arch on lacing up which seems to work. The tongue seems thicker and less pliable thn the old Brashers, so you might want to adjust that a few times till you get them sitting comfortably. Other negative? Yea same as everyone else says: the laces are too short! Get a grip on the details Berhaus!! Anyway I just walked about forty km in the last few days in them from new. Final verdict? Not quite so comfy as the old type: lots of adjusting to get them right but no blisters or soreness, so all in all I’m a happy walker and glad they still make them.
