Was bought for my husband who was after an electric shaver. He hasn’t had good luck with them in the past, but he loves this one. He gets a really close shave and seems to be happy with i
I’ve been using rotary head shavers for years because I was always told they are easier on your skin. I noticed the last Philishave I got seemed very slow speed even when brand new, but gave it a couple of years and finally decided to try this (mainly because it was cheap to be honest). Really pleased with the results – the closeness of the shave is like night and day compared to the rotary head shavers, so much better. Okay it’s more difficult to get into the awkward areas of your face, so takes longer, but it’s worth it for the results.
I took one star off because the trimmer attachments are kind of annoying to put on and take off. I’d rather they had one integrated into the shaver, like the pop-up ones you get on some other types.
Used Braun for many years, bought as my old 5 series was on the way out. Thought about new 7 series but seen that the new 5 series had a better review by which and was around 100 cheaper. Bit suprised not moveable head, but gaves a good shave with the trimmer now an attachment.
This razor is brilliant for a quick tidy-up , gives a close shave with little effort even on 2 days of growth. Still not as close as a wet shave with a razor blade, but its good enough at 60… don’t know if you could get a better one at its full price…? Phillips beats it in reviews!
Greetings, fellow grooming enthusiasts and potential victims of my newfound charisma! So, I decided to elevate my shaving game and grabbed the Braun Series 5 Electric Shaver, because who doesn’t want their face to feel as fresh as a cucumber in a spa? Little did I know, this shaver would turn me into the James Bond of personal hygiene, with a twist of sitcom-level chaos.
The unboxing experience was more thrilling than the climax of a mystery novel. As I unveiled the Braun Series 5, it felt like the heavens themselves were handing me the grooming keys to paradise. But, as they say, with great facial hair removal comes great responsibility, or in my case, hilarity.
This shaving masterpiece came with an EasyClick Body Groomer Attachment, turning me into a grooming maestro. I thought I’d test it out on a date, thinking a smooth face equals a smooth date. Instead, I accidentally clicked the body groomer attachment and ended up with the smoothest chest in the restaurant. My date was less impressed and more bewildered by my impromptu striptease.
Next up, using it with the parents. My dad, thinking it’s just a regular shaver, decided to give it a whirl. Long story short, I walked in on him in the kitchen, reenacting a shaving scene from an ’80s action movie. The neighbors now think we’re filming a low-budget action flick in our living room.
And, oh, the pice de rsistance: using it at work. In a misguided attempt to multitask, I brought it to the office. Turns out, shaving at your desk doesn’t impress your boss; it just gets you a pink slip faster than you can say “Rated Which Best Buy.” Unemployment never looked so smooth and hairless.
Now, onto the perks: this shaver has magically transformed my love life. I’m now a magnet for potential partners who can’t resist the charm of a freshly shaven man. The secret? The Braun Series 5 makes me so irresistibly smooth that swimsuit models are now flooding my DMs. Forget dating apps; apparently, all you need is a sharp shaver and a questionable life story.
In conclusion, the Braun Series 5 is not just a shaver; it’s a hilarious journey through the maze of personal grooming, leaving you smoother, wiser, and possibly unemployed. Highly recommended for those who want a face smoother than a stand-up comedian’s punchline.
Braun Series 5: Because life’s too short for boring shaving stories!
My husband is delighted with this shaver, my Christmas gift to him. He had an earlier model which got lost and he says it is a bit of a blessing in disguise because this one is much better. As I am not a man and don’t use a shaver I cannot be specific about its features but it gives a very close shave and he looks a good deal smarter for having it!
Replaced an existing Braun shaver. Wasn’t that old but was in need of a replacement shaver head. Genuine Braun part would have been apart half the cost of a new shaver (at the deal price). And, from experience, buying a generic replacement head is a waste of money. This shaver shaves well enough but don’t think any shaver will outperform a wet shave. But scores on convenience.
Only problem is that the charger is quite bulky at the end where it plugs into the wall socket and the fit is too loose. Which did not happen with my current shaver. So the charger does not remain in contact with the mains and so does it not charge. Normally that would be a showstopper and it would have been returned. Fortunately my old Braun shaver has the same connector at the shaver end and so I simply used my old charger cable which has a much better fit into the wall socket.
Other annoyance is that there are too many Braun product variants with no obvious differentiation so I have no idea whether I actually bought a better product than a different Braun shaver in the same series or a different series. Especially as this is a Series 5 and it replaces a Series 7.
Too soon to say how well the battery charge lasts or how useful the plug on attachments are.
It’s a lightweight, easy to hold and very effective razor. The battery last a good time and then it’s very quick to recharge.
My only negative is how to use it for trimming. I’ve not found out yet, but it has combs to attach. So it should be alright.
I haven’t used an electric shaver for well over a decade, and my last look at things was pretty poor. This shaver has changed my perspective on these yokes, it’s a game changer for me. I can legitimately achieve the same finish that I would normally get with a wet razor. It’s easy to use, easy to clean, easy to charge. The only thing preventing me from giving it a perfect 10/10 review is the fact that:
1. it can’t achieve a razor sharp straight line, e.g. trimming sideburns neatly
2. the fact that the rounded attachment is somewhat inset means it’s difficult to get close to e.g. in front of your ear, or directly under the nose.
Other than those minor points, this is an excellent product at a fantastic price. Highly recommended.
Very good close shave, quick, easy and no skin irritation. Would be good if it came with a carry case.
Replacing a 12 year old Panasonic foil shave which was great (never even replaced the foils in 12 year!) I only needed to replace it because I dropped it foil-down.
Last week I thought I’d try something different and tried a Philips Series 3000 rotary shaver and it was terrible. Gutless, really uneven shave and took ages and ended up irritating my skin. The trimmer was also really annoying as it kept folding down. For the same money, quite a contrast to this far superior shaver. I can’t believe these two products are the same price!
Got this for my son, as he is very scared of shaving with a razor, read all the reviews and it seemed to fit the bill, he was very pleased with it and that’s what matters. He doesn’t use gel so no need to wet it.
At the age of 75 and an imminent hip replacement operation, the thought of standing to wet shave led me to considering an electric razor so l could sit down to shave. I’d always thought (wrongly as l since discovered) that l wouldn’t get a close shave with an electric razor. This razor is amazing!! I would highly recommend this product and don’t wait until you are 75!
Much better than the series 3 that I had before. I would definitely recommend it for the price.
Not blade level but best I have tried and pretty impressive for the price. Had a few months now and working well so build quality and waterproof claim can’t be faulted.
The Braun series 5 gives a good and close shave. It’s easy and comfortable to use. The instructions are minimal and not easy to deceiver. Bit disappointing that there is not so much as a cloth bag in which to store the thing! However, it does the job.
The angle of the head to the body makes for comfortable shaving. The easy clean is excellent. The added implements are of no use if you just want to shave Some users might find them useful.
This product replaced a previous Braun I have had for several years. The new shaver gives a much closer shave, but it’s a shame the beard trimmer is not built in.
Last a long time when fully charged.light and easy to use
It’s a very good shaver. Are you have Phillips for years and this is bette
This is around my 10th electric shaver. I’m a fan of a wet shave but due to thick stubble and an ever increasing sensitive face I’ve being shaving about once a week with a razor and filling in with an electric shaver. I’ve had varied experiences, mostly poor, until this one. No shaver burn, good close shave without having to go over time and time again. Would definitely recommend.
Battery charges quick and lasts a decent amount of time. It takes a few extra strokes compared to my previous shaver for a smooth shave but it feels safer to use.
A great shaver. I’ve used Braun shavers for years and this one is even better tham my last one. It shaves close quite quickly and the trimmer is good for sideboards.
I’m surprised at how useful and easy to use this is. I’ve got into the habit of not shaving until my face gets too scratchy and it was taking a lot of time, effort and discomfort to ratch through the resulting undergrowth with Gillette razors.
I’ve tried electric razors back in the olden days and wasn’t at all impressed. With this, I put the strimmer head on and get through the stubble, swap heads and do a proper shave and it’s all done in a couple of minutes.
Battery life seems good, the unit is easy to clean and I got it at a really good price.
Overall very happy.
My Philips shaver died recently. I’ve had Philips shavers for many years. This Braun shaver was a Which? Best Buy and I thought I’d give it a go for a change. I must say I really like it. It wasn’t overly expensive and the battery is now into its third week and still showing two bars out of three (yes, it shows the battery status). It’s dead easy to clean. So, yes, I’m very pleased with it.
As life-time user of cheap shavers I was blown away by the difference in quality between my usual, cheap alternatives and a branded shaver. Cleaner, closer and quicker. There’s actually less irritation because you don’t have to keep going over the same area. It cuts it right first time. I am changed for life. Drop you cheap razer and feel the difference.
It works very well, gives a good shave and is easy to clea
This is my fifth Braun in 60 years of shaving; and it’s the best yet!! really good styling and it fits my face and my hands well. The only minor , and I MEAN minor, issue is that one has to change the head to get the trimmer. No big deal.
Great quality easy to use and gives a great shave. Just what you want.
Having been a die hard Remington electric shaver man for years, when my last one gave up the ghost I looked for a replacement. This one hit the spot, great reduced price, easy to use, really close shave, completely understand why it was was voted best ‘which’ buy in 2022. Great for a daily shave and great for a shave after 2/3 days growth. Due to the flexible shaver head it does shave close to the contours of your face. Yes I have only used it 10 times but absolutely cannot fault it. Only word of warning, I have sensitive skin so don’t push down too hard when using it, as it will leave you with a slight redness but that is due to me getting used to the right pressure to use when shaving.
Having been a wet shaver for many years, I didn’t like shaving but was in a job where I had to be clean shaven daily. I have tried electric razors in the past, but they made me sore. After looking at countless razors online and reading reviews, I decided to bite the bullet! I purchased this Braun razor and I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised, it gives a nice smooth shave, initially I shaved every other day, to get used to a dry razor, now I shave every day and I am very satisfied with this product. Not tried wet shave with it yet but will. All in all a very good razor and reasonably priced.
Disappointed that there wasn’t a holding case for the electric shaver instead of a sort of paper bag which too me is inadequate like the shaver but very disappointed with not having what should have been a holding case and not a type of paper bag.
With my last Braun, the Trimmer was incorporated and immediately available. Shame this one doesn’t have tha
After 60 years of using Philishaves I bought this make and it makes shaving a pleasure. It feels better on the skin than rotary blades, does not dig in and much better on the difficult bits of face like the chin. The linear blade system is a revelation to me and I will be using this make from now on. A fast really close shave and a good battery charge and long duration. Easy to clean too. I bought this for long holidays or visits away after trying the cheaper series 3 in an emergency. That one is just as good but charge duration only 30 mins not the 50 mins or 3 weeks of the series 5. Great value too
It’s a good shaver, I use it for my hair, I’m so happy about tha
It provides a really close shave – not as close as a wet shave but a whole lot easier. The battery seems to last for ages . For instance, I bought the shaver a month ago and have used it every other day and it still has two thirds of the battery left.
Decent shave (as with Braun razors) really good battery life.
I’ve always used cheap clippers for both my beard and head, they have always let me down, broken after a couple of months or died half way through the shave. However I was recommended this device by a friend, it’s INCREDIBLE. It’s smooth, it’s quick, it’s easy to use, easy to hold, it’s reliable, has a great battery life and is just brilliant! I’d recommend this to anyone
Replaces a series 9 that I have had for 10 years but costing almost 3 times as much. I don’t have a thick beard, and this razor appears to be no different in performance at a third of the cost. Don’t use the sideboard trimmer, have another trimmer for that.
I was asked by my wife what I wanted for xmas and I decided I wanted a electric shaver but no idea what to get and left it up to her
not wanting to spend too much in case i didn’t get on well with it we settled on a braun series 5
knowing i was getting it for xmas and wanting to give it the best chance I decided to have a wet shave on xmas eve and use the shaver the very next day to keep on top of any growth
this biggest thing Ive found my chin didn’t feel like my chin it felt odd not in a bad way just different and on boxing day I went a bit mad with it and had 4 shaves in a day which caused me to have a razer burn
the only other downside was before I would only shave once every 10 or so days and now shaving every day I found my face was dry so I bought some aftershave balm which quickly cleared it up
but I am so impressed by it
my routine is when I wake up I turn on my pc and while reading emails in the space of 2 mins I’ve had a shave its as quick as any razer as I don’t allow any growth to build up and not used a razer for around 2 weeks now
it looks so good even my dad has ordered one
I wasn’t planning to buy a new shaver but just replace the foil head of my existing Panasonic. I then saw an excellent rating by Which for the Series 5 and realised that buying a new one from Amazon would only cost 25 more than a new shaver head. I decided to buy one and am delighted with my purchase. The Series 5 is certainly the best electric shaver I have ever used, giving a really close cut on a par with a good wet shave but without any mess. It is very comfortable to hold and the only slight downside is the need to change the shaver head for the supplied trimmer if you need to use it.
Got this as I was fed up with missing bits when shaving. Having used this (for just over a month) I wondered why I waited so long! I still use shaving Gel (you can obviously use it wet or dry) as I wanted to get that feeling of a wet shave without the hassle of using razor blades. It is a bit messy but I will carry on as (I believe) you will get a closer shave however it’s very much a personal thing anyway. Unsure of the battery life as I haven’t been using it very long but overall very pleased with the product (especially not having to keep buying spare blades but I will need to get a spare for this one!). Recommended.
Only marked down a star, as I`m used to a flip up trimmer. Other than that, it`s great.
This is my first waterproof shaver and it is great not having problems with leads being too short. Battery life seems OK but a little on the short side for my preference. The lead supplied for re-charging is a 2-pin plug which is a pain because I have to use an adapter plug. Overall I am very happy with the shaver, but I have not tested the waterproofness yet!
Clean shave used daily. Longer two or three days I needed to keep it off my face until bristles were shortened. Otherwise good machine.
Changed my Philishave for this model Braun and am very pleased with it so far. Just remains to see how long the cutting blades stay sharp for.
I find this a bit too light, more weight would stay closer to the face. It does the job at half price, battery life is good.
I prefer the slide up clipper of my previous model. But this was much cheaper than that. You get what you pay for, who knew?
Very simple, relatively quiet, gives a close shave. Far lighter than both my series 9 shavers, neither of which lasted much beyond their warranty period. This shaver cost <1/3 the price and gives an excellent shave.
Sideburn attachment works simply. Like the charge stand ( but you need to allow the shaver to drain dry or the terminal on which the shaver stands gets corroded.
Overall I'm really pleased with this shaver.
The 5140 I bought a couple of years ago is so good that I decided to get another Series 5 so that I could have one in my travel bag.
This Series 5 is nowhere near as good as the 5140. It doesn’t pivot, the battery doesn’t last as long, and there’s no slide out trimmer. The whole thing feels like it’s deliberately designed to fit into a marketing line up where it can’t be too good and potentially cannibalise sales of Series 7s.
But, it’s very comfortable to hold. That sacrificed battery life means it’s lighter; and I’m managing to get a nice close shave despite the fixed head. The easy clean system seems to work pretty well too.
I understood rinse orbrush to clean, not the case, time consuming so disapointed. Thought I could use to replace razor but does not shave close. I use for beard trim only
It’s a good razor. Does a decent job. It’s still slower than my dad’s 20 year old Philips and every modern razor I’ve bought is but take your time and it shaves fairly close. Separate trimmer. Wish that was built in as forever losing it or accidentally emptying the contents of the blade cover everywhere
This razor feels a little flimsy compared to my previous Series 5 Braun but it gives a much closer shave.
I have deducted one star because of the dreadful manual which comes with it which is almost impossible to decipher. I am still not sure how often and how to clean the razor as there are so few words to accompany the illustrations
I bought Braun Series 5 in November 21, as a means to switch from daily wet shaving using a safety razor. I have used the Braun only once (this morning) and was pleasantly surprised on it’s performance, as there are many negative reviews. I shave daily for work so needed a faster option than wet shaving but yielded the same results (or better). The Braun Series 5 does not disappoint. The results are just as good as wet shaving, but unlike many negative comments suggests, does not take repetitive coverage to do so. A total run time for me was between 1 min 30 – 2 mins, being particularly thorough on it’s first use. Caveat = only 1 day of growth (and I’m not well known for being great at growing a beard!). The shave itself was smooth, not leaving the skin overly dry or sore. The difficult places around the neck were made very easy to get to, with no catching or “snagging” on any hairs, producing a surprisingly close shave whilst being very comfortable.
Needless to say Battery Life has not been an issue so far. The grip is comfortable making it easy to use. I thoroughly recommend.
