Bought this shaver for 294 which is the most I’ve ever paid for one.
I thought since I’ve never spent too much on a shaver I’d treat myself.
I couldn’t be happier as it is well worth the money and gives the best results.
I’ve had some shavers over the years and this is the best yet , no irratation anymore ,its almost as good as wet shave with a Gillette so 5 stars for me
This replaced my old series 3 razor after the rechargeable batteries started to pack up. It is expensive but the best on the market.
Had a Series 9 for many years, happy with the performance until the cutting head started to vibrate and eventually fell apart.
Bought the latest version of the series 9 to replace it. The closeness and post shave comfort of the new version is superior to the old version. The battery appears to last longer than the old one did when new.
Very happy with purchase.
Very impressed with this shaver even though it was expensive. I had wet shaved for 40+ years and previous electric shavers just didn’t give a good shave. Recently I decided to give the electric shavers a go and after quite a bit of searching reviews I decided to give the Braun Series 9 a shot knowing that if it didn’t live up to expectations or the positive reviews I read, I could return it. Much to my surprise it actually gives as as good a shave as wet shaving so far. Will see how it fares over the next 3 weeks however my gut feeling says it’ll be ok.
It’s easy to hold and use. The battery seems to last a while and the ability to put it in the charging case to charge it is a plus as there’s no need to use the power plug as much.
I haven’t tried out the supplied wash/dry station yet as I thought I would give it a week or so before using it, to see how good it works.
Recommended if you can afford the high price even after a discount. My purchase was at -55% and came in at just under 295. I personally would not have paid full price for it otherwise.
I saw that this model came out on top in consumer report tests in both the UK and in Germany, but then some of the negative reviews on Amazon got me worried.
I bought it anyway and am glad I did. It is a big improvement over my earlier Braun (790), offering a much better shave. It is also a lot quieter.
One detail that could be better is the pop-out trimmer. It is harder to use and less precise than that on the earlier model.
Expensive shaver, so hope it lasts forever and keeps shaving close. Doh
Just upgraded to this Razor from series 7. It
is streets ahead. A great smooth, close, comfortable face I now have.
Fully recommend this
Good product but travel case appears to be a waste of space and very bulky
This is easy to use, comfortable to hold and recharges very easily. I was concerned about skin damage but after four weeks it has not been the case. I enjoy my smart appearance and not having to worry about wet shaving.
This is easily the best shaver I have ever used. And I have had quite a few being aged 93. It gives a closeness of shave, closer than any of the others of various makes that I have had. I am sorry I did not buy it before.
Excellent shave, as good if not better than wet shave. No tugging or unpleasantness even on sever days growth, just ploughs through it painlessly. Highly recommend. On the cons, didn’t like having to buy the charging case, what is the point ! Also don’t use the cleaning product, just run it under a very hot tap, does the job.
Found this electric shaver one of the best out there. Real close shave without the bumps and burns from a razor. Ideal for someone with sensitive skin and for everybody who prefers the look of a daily shave without the ingrown hair and skin sensitivity. Very impressed I must say.
Had the series three before this one that I had for years… I treated myself to the pro and I’m glad I did…. much closer shave…. German built quality at it best… This one came with a carrying case that will recharge the shaver, so handy when travelling no more carrying plugs and adapters….. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Been using this shaver for some time, unfortunately not as good as the Philips 9000, the Philips give a much better close shave also a lot quieter, also find this shaver irritates my skin a little, very good travelling case which can use to charge shaver, overall 2nd best to the Philips 9000.
In comparing the Series 9 Pro with the Braun Series 7 which I have used for many years, the Series 9 Pro has a much bigger shaving head with a bigger facial contact area which makes it very comfortable in use, much more so than the Series 7. The 9 Pro has an additional brass coloured cutter.
However, I have not found the 9 Pro to be more effective as a razor than the Series 7 it is just nicer to use.
The updated cleaning system does seem to be more effective than that originally supplied several years ago with the Series 7, although there were no instructions about how to use the ‘Smart’ feature.
At 64 I must have owned a dozen electric shavers, none of them, despite fancy marketing, were much good so I didn’t go into this with high expectations.
I was wrong – although it’s quite noisy, far from cheap, and (irritatingly) comes with a 2 pin plug, it’s actually a brilliant shaver. A bit of shaving oil on the skin, stretch the skin tight as you would with a wet shave, and it’s brilliant. Shaves as close as a traditional good traditional razor, and better by far than either cheap wet razors or any other electric shaver I’ve ever used. Happy customer !
This was to replace an older series 7 from about seven years ago . Everything to do with it is really good apart from after only the second use it came up saying the head needed replacing which isn’t right as it’s supposed to last 18 months . But apart from that it was delivered when expected
This shaver is so good.
I looked at the reviews before purchasing from review sites and this one consistently came out on top. So, I was expecting it to be a good electric shaver.
But even my expectations were shattered as this really is an outstanding electric shaver. It leaves me wondering how it’s managing to do it compared to other electric shavers. I just go over the area once and it is very cleanly and closely shaven. Shaving takes very little times as I don’t have to keep going over areas.
Zero razer burn or irritation from using this.
The cleaning station is good too and handy. It’s expensive yes, but like a lot of things, you get what you pay for.
I bought a phillips rotary shaver a while back and it is absolutely terrible. Going over the areas repeatedly still doesn’t shave them and it causes really bad irritation. I would never buy a phillips electric shaver again, the reviews of it on Amazon were good, but it’s a terrible shaver.
The ergonomics are great too, really fits in the hand well.
Buy this if you’re in the market for an electric shaver.
I’ve always used a high end Philips shaver with the famous 3 floating heads, but since my last one gave up the ghost after a few years decided to have a change after reading good reviews about this Braun S9. Wow! So glad I did. As a head shaver, couldn’t get it as closely shaved without using a safety razor. But…..not any more. This shaver is nothing short of amazing. My heads as smooth as a baby’s behind. It’s without doubt the best shaver I’ve ever owned. It’s not cheap but, worth every penny. No skin burn, which I got sometimes with previous shavers, and it feels lovely in the hand. Charge lasts a good week of shaving every day which is impressive, and charges within an hour. I paid extra for the cleaning station and charging case and couldn’t be more pleased. Thoroughly recommended. Great shaver.
Purchased the Braun s9 pro about 2 weeks ago and it seemed good, close shave and quiet, also comfortable BUT after this period of time it has suddenly started making like a rattling noise in the head and now become very uncomfortable to shave with, have looked at everything and cannot see anything wrong with it but something has changed and not for the good, tried to contact Amazon for help but ended going round in circles so gave up in the end, 269 for something that seems to have developed a problem and now I am stuck with it, very poor show and not at all happy 🙁
As you would expect from Braun, this is a well-made shaver and can’t really fault it as a shaver, it does the job and is a good alternative to a wet shave with a manual razor (still preferred though!).
All shaves so far have been smooth, comfortable and pinch (blood!) free. The shave seems nearly as close as a wet one, but the nearly is a just noticeable one.
The downside is its fairly bulky for portable use especially with its charging case, and you do need to have this with you as it’s the only way to charge the shaver. On the upside the case has its own batteries to charge the shaver, so looking for a mains connection is not somethign you are always looking for.
The one big disappoint is the cleaning station, which sems to be a lesson in bad environmental design with its replaceable (rather than refillable) cleaning cartridge. In this day and age this not really an acceptable solution, why not have an option to fill with soap and water – Shaver is meant to be able to be used wet. Can’t bring myself to use this, so simply blow hairs out and rinse, when necessary, which seems to do the job.
Would I buy again – Yes, but hopefully not for a few years at least!
I have never been able to get on with an electric shaver and yes, over the years I have tried most of them. Having read the reviews on this I thought I would give electric one last try. First impressions were a little disappointing as the main body of the shaver is plastic and (as others have mentioned) a little cheap looking considering the price of the shaver. However, the accessories and total package is very professional. I really like the travel case which doubles as a quick charger.
To review what the shaver is designed for – well I was amazed. For me it is certainly as good as a wet shave . It works quickly and cuts efficiently. That means maybe one or two passes with the shaver and it is job done! That in turn means no shaver burn or red marks. I am honestly delighted with the performance of the shaver.
The cleaning unit works really well. Give the shaver head a quick rinse then put it in the stand and press the button. It is cleaned and ready to go (and charged) for the next shave. Superb! Others have mentioned that the lead to the cleaning unit is really short and I agree. Also, if you are plugging the 2 pin into a 3 pin adaptor, the total plug stands out maybe 5 inches from the wall. This is ridiculous and needs a redesign.
It doesn’t take away from a 5 star review though. It’s a shaver and it does the job (for me) brilliantly.
